An excerpt characterizing the Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation
“No, I joined the army,” answered Anatole, barely restraining himself from laughing.- A! good deal. Well, do you want, my dear, to serve the Tsar and the Fatherland? It's war time. Such a young man must serve, he must serve. Well, at the front?
- No, prince. Our regiment set out. And I'm listed. What do I have to do with it, dad? - Anatole turned to his father with a laugh.
- He serves well, well. What do I have to do with it! Ha ha ha! – Prince Nikolai Andreevich laughed.
And Anatole laughed even louder. Suddenly Prince Nikolai Andreevich frowned.
“Well, go,” he said to Anatoly.
Anatole approached the ladies again with a smile.
– After all, you raised them there abroad, Prince Vasily? A? - the old prince turned to Prince Vasily.
– I did what I could; and I will tell you that the education there is much better than ours.
- Yes, everything is different now, everything is new. Well done little guy! Well done! Well, let's come to me.
He took Prince Vasily by the arm and led him into the office.
Prince Vasily, left alone with the prince, immediately announced to him his desire and hopes.
“What do you think,” said the old prince angrily, “that I’m holding her and can’t part with her?” Imagine! – he said angrily. - At least tomorrow for me! I’ll just tell you that I want to know my son-in-law better. You know my rules: everything is open! I’ll ask you tomorrow: she wants it, then let him live. Let him live, I'll see. - The prince snorted.
“Let him come out, I don’t care,” he shouted in that shrill voice with which he shouted when saying goodbye to his son.
“I’ll tell you straight,” said Prince Vasily in the tone of a cunning man, convinced of the needlessness of being cunning in front of the insight of his interlocutor. – You see right through people. Anatole is not a genius, but an honest, kind fellow, a wonderful son and dear one.
- Well, well, okay, we'll see.
As always happens for single women who have lived for a long time without male society, when Anatole appeared, all three women in the house of Prince Nikolai Andreevich equally felt that their life had not been life before that time. The power to think, feel, and observe instantly increased tenfold in all of them, and as if it had hitherto been happening in darkness, their lives were suddenly illuminated with a new light, full of meaning.
Princess Marya did not think or remember at all about her face and hairstyle. The handsome, open face of the man who might be her husband absorbed all her attention. He seemed to her kind, brave, decisive, courageous and generous. She was convinced of it. Thousands of dreams about a future family life constantly arose in her imagination. She drove them away and tried to hide them.
“But am I too cold with him? - thought Princess Marya. “I try to restrain myself, because deep down I feel too close to him; but he doesn’t know everything that I think about him, and he can imagine that he is unpleasant to me.”
And Princess Marya tried and failed to be polite to the new guest. “La pauvre fille! “Elle est diablement laide,” [Poor girl, she’s devilishly ugly,] Anatole thought about her.
M lle Bourienne, also raised to a high degree of excitement by Anatole's arrival, thought in a different way. Of course, a beautiful young girl without a certain position in the world, without relatives and friends and even a homeland, did not think of devoting her life to the services of Prince Nikolai Andreevich, reading books to him and friendship with Princess Marya. M lle Bourienne has long been waiting for that Russian prince who will immediately be able to appreciate her superiority over the Russian, bad, poorly dressed, awkward princesses, fall in love with her and take her away; and this Russian prince finally arrived. M lle Bourienne had a story that she heard from her aunt, completed by herself, which she loved to repeat in her imagination. It was a story about how a seduced girl introduced herself to her poor mother, sa pauvre mere, and reproached her for giving herself to a man without marriage. M lle Bourienne was often moved to tears, telling him, the seducer, this story in her imagination. Now this he, a real Russian prince, has appeared. He will take her away, then ma pauvre mere will appear, and he will marry her. This is how her entire future story took shape in M lle Bourienne’s head, while she was talking to him about Paris. It was not calculations that guided m lle Bourienne (she didn’t even think for a minute about what she should do), but all this had been ready in her for a long time and was now only grouped around the appearance of Anatole, whom she wanted and tried to please as much as possible.
The little princess, like an old regimental horse, hearing the sound of a trumpet, unconsciously and forgetting her position, prepared for the usual gallop of coquetry, without any ulterior thought or struggle, but with naive, frivolous fun.
Despite the fact that in female society Anatole usually put himself in the position of a man who was tired of women running after him, he felt vain pleasure in seeing his influence on these three women. In addition, he began to experience for the pretty and provocative Bourienne that passionate, brutal feeling that came over him with extreme speed and prompted him to the most rude and daring actions.
After tea, the company moved to the sofa room, and the princess was asked to play the clavichord. Anatole leaned his elbows in front of her next to M lle Bourienne, and his eyes, laughing and rejoicing, looked at Princess Marya. Princess Marya felt his gaze on her with painful and joyful excitement. Her favorite sonata transported her to the most sincerely poetic world, and the gaze she felt on herself made this world even more poetic. Anatole’s gaze, although fixed on her, did not refer to her, but to the movements of m lle Bourienne’s leg, which at that time he was touching with his foot under the piano. M lle Bourienne also looked at the princess, and in her beautiful eyes there was also an expression of frightened joy and hope, new to Princess Marya.
“How she loves me! - thought Princess Marya. - How happy I am now and how happy I can be with such a friend and such a husband! Is it really a husband? she thought, not daring to look at his face, feeling the same gaze directed at herself.
In the evening, when they began to leave after dinner, Anatole kissed the princess’s hand. She herself did not know how she got the courage, but she looked directly at the beautiful face approaching her myopic eyes. After the princess, he approached M lle Bourienne’s hand (it was indecent, but he did everything so confidently and simply), and M lle Bourienne flushed and looked at the princess in fear.
“Quelle delicatesse” [What delicacy,] thought the princess. – Does Ame (that was the name of m lle Bourienne) really think that I can be jealous of her and not appreciate her pure tenderness and devotion to me? “She went up to M lle Bourienne and kissed her deeply. Anatole approached the little princess's hand.
- Non, non, non! Quand votre pere m"ecrira, que vous vous conduisez bien, je vous donnerai ma main a baiser. Pas avant. [No, no, no! When your father writes to me that you are behaving well, then I will let you kiss your hand. Not before.] – And, raising her finger and smiling, she left the room.
Everyone left, and, except for Anatole, who fell asleep as soon as he lay down on the bed, no one slept for a long time that night.
“Is he really my husband, this strange, handsome, kind man; the main thing is to be kind,” thought Princess Marya, and fear, which almost never came to her, came over her. She was afraid to look back; it seemed to her that someone was standing here behind the screens, in a dark corner. And this someone was he - the devil, and he - this man with a white forehead, black eyebrows and a ruddy mouth.
She called the maid and asked her to lie down in her room.
M lle Bourienne walked around the winter garden for a long time that evening, waiting in vain for someone, smiling at someone, and being moved to tears by the imaginary words of pauvre mere, reproaching her for her fall.
The little princess grumbled at the maid because the bed was not good. She was not allowed to lie on her side or on her chest. Everything was difficult and awkward. Her stomach was bothering her. He bothered her more than ever, just now, because Anatole’s presence transported her more vividly to another time, when this was not the case and everything was easy and fun for her. She was sitting in a blouse and cap on an armchair. Katya, sleepy and with a tangled braid, interrupted and turned over the heavy feather bed for the third time, saying something.
“I told you that everything is lumps and pits,” the little princess repeated, “I would be glad to fall asleep myself, so it’s not my fault,” and her voice trembled, like that of a child about to cry.
The old prince also did not sleep. Through his sleep, Tikhon heard him walking angrily and snorting through his nose. It seemed to the old prince that he was insulted on behalf of his daughter. The insult is the most painful, because it did not apply to him, but to someone else, to his daughter, whom he loves more than himself. He told himself that he would change his mind about this whole matter and find what was fair and should be done, but instead he only irritated himself more.

Currently, 586 scientists work at the Military Training and Scientific Center of the Ground Forces “Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”, of which: 64 doctors of science, 454 candidates of science, 427 people have an academic title, including 104 professors, 329 associate professors and senior scientific workers.
Military training centers are being formed at higher educational institutions to train officers. Their graduates must serve under a contract in the ranks of the RF Armed Forces. Military training centers are abbreviated as educational centers at the university. Applicants who successfully pass the entrance examination must enter into a training agreement. Then the graduate signs a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, according to which he will serve as an officer in the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces for three years. Military training centers indicate the appropriate places where graduates will perform their assigned service.
Differences
The order of the government of the Russian Federation was brought to the attention of higher educational institutions in March 2008 “On military training centers.” It also talks about faculties and departments of military training at federal government institutions of higher education; centers are a special form of training for contract military service. Military positions must correspond to officer positions.
How will an ordinary student differ from a UVC cadet and a military department student? The cadet attends classes at a military training center one day every week and wears a strictly military uniform. A student from the military department does the same. And the average student enjoys an extra day off. But these are not all the differences. Easy to learn, hard to fight, to paraphrase the famous saying given to us by the famous Suvorov.
Money
The UVC cadet was the luckiest with money. He receives a relatively large additional payment to his scholarship: one hundred and fifty percent of the basic amount in the first year and about four hundred percent in the second and subsequent years of the basic scholarship. Despite the fact that scholarships are usually small, the amount is already subsistence.
The student from the military department was less fortunate, but the military training center also pays him extra from the Ministry of Defense: fifteen percent for those who did not serve in conscription, and twenty-five percent for those who completed military service. This money is added to the base stipend. But if, based on the results of academic performance, a student loses it, then he does not receive anything. An ordinary student, if he studies well, receives a regular basic scholarship. That's all.
Rank and duties
Military training centers at universities graduate students just as differently as they did during the training process. A UVC graduate cadet receives the active rank of lieutenant and leaves for a three-year contract service. A harsh choice - a real man. Despite the fact that all three undergo medical examinations in the same way, he does not have the right to replace military service with alternative civilian service. Just like his colleague from the military department.
Its graduate first goes to training camp, which lasts a month or two, and then receives a rank of a completely different type, although it seems to be called the same - he will be a reserve lieutenant. He will not serve in the army. An ordinary student, naturally, does not receive a title, but he will most likely serve in military service if he cannot replace it with an alternative - civilian service. Privates will have to serve, not as officers. But at the university I had an extra day of rest a week, which was also not bad. The only consolation is that an ordinary student only needs to serve one year in the army. A student of the military department is not obliged to serve under a contract, but if he wants, he can. Lieutenant. A UVC cadet must serve at least three years in military service.
Who is accepted to the military department?
A full-time student at a federal state university who is physically fit for military service can enter into, as already mentioned, an agreement with the Ministry of Defense. In this case, the student is trained in a program that trains reserve officers at a given educational institution in the military department. The student must be under thirty years of age, meet the professional and psychological requirements for these military specialties, and successfully pass a competition or selection - first preliminary, and then main.
Preliminary selection is carried out by the military commissariat at the place of military registration, where the head of the department gives directions. The student undergoes a military medical commission there, as well as psychological professional selection. The main selection is a competition held by a commission among those who have passed the preliminary selection. Preference for admission is given to family members of military personnel, orphans and those who have completed military service. Only after this is it possible to conclude an agreement, which cannot take place if the student has an outstanding or unexpunged criminal record, if he is currently subject to criminal prosecution.
Classes at the military department
Usually this is the so-called “military day” once a week, which consists of nine of which six are training sessions, two hours are allocated for independent work and an hour of training, organizational and educational issues.
The training camp lasts thirty days to complete the training in the last semester of the military department. Usually in the summer. After the end of the training camp, certification for military training is carried out, which is carried out by the military unit, in exceptional cases - at the university, it lasts approximately four to five days, the first of which are allocated for preparation, and the last for passing exams. If the program provides, the student, after certification, also does an internship in military units.
Who is admitted to the UVC?
UVCs are organized on the basis of a number of military departments, and students who have studied at the UVC, the very next morning after receiving their diploma, must sign a contract for three or five years in order to immediately begin military service as a lieutenant in the RF Armed Forces. If a graduate refuses the contract, as well as if he was expelled from the UVC or the university in general, he will have to be drafted into the army as a private, that is, in the usual manner. But also, in advance, reimburse all the funds that were spent on his training at the UVC.
The UVC accepts students up to twenty-four years of age inclusive, only full-time students who are fit for service for health reasons and meet the requirements that correspond to contract soldiers. Students from UVC receive not only classes, but also internships and training camps. The educational center at the medical university sends students to thirty-day training camps, for the rest they last fourteen days. Upon graduation from the UVC and university, certification is carried out.
VUNTS Air Force "VVA"
The military educational and scientific center of the Air Force is the Air Force Academy in Voronezh, which proudly bears the names of Yu. A. Gagarin and N. E. Zhukovsky. This educational institution absorbed the traditions and experience of military universities, which excellently trained officer cadres, this is the merging of two renowned academies.
Of course, modern history is formed only with the full preservation of historical memory, and therefore the reorganization (dissolution and merger) of the two academies optimizes the systems of aviation military education on a solid foundation of past achievements.
Graduates
Graduates of the Zhukovsky Academy created worldwide fame for domestic aviation. These are the general designers: Ilyushin, Mikoyan, Yakovlev, Bolkhovitinov, Kuznetsov, Tumansky, and air marshals Zhigarev, Vershinin and eight more marshals, thirty cosmonaut pilots, more than fifty test pilots, forty academicians, two hundred State Prize laureates, one hundred and nine Heroes USSR and twenty-nine - Socialist Labor... It’s impossible to list them all.
And among the graduates of the Gagarin Academy there are seven hundred Heroes of the Soviet Union! Among them are three times Hero Kozhedub and thirty-nine twice Heroes of the USSR. All foreign cosmonauts and ten Soviet pilots studied here.
Merger
The Air Force Military Training Research Center now also includes: Yeisk Military Aviation School named after cosmonaut pilot Komarov, Krasnodar Aviation School named after Serov, Syzran Military School of Pilots, St. Petersburg Military School of Radio Electronics, Chelyabinsk Aviation School of Navigators, Yaroslavl Military School of Air Defense . All these educational institutions were higher - military institutes.
By order of the Minister of Defense in 2011, both academies and all of the above schools began to belong to the Military Aviation Engineering University. Earlier, in 2008, the Irkutsk Aviation School (military engineering institute), the Tambov Military Aviation School of Radio Electronics and the Stavropol Military Aviation School were annexed to it. In 2010, the university was replenished with a research and testing center for electronic warfare (FGNIITs EW and ESZ). Now the university trains thousands of specialists, aviation logistics officers, engineering, aviation services, meteorological services, as well as electronic warfare specialists.
Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces
The Military Training and Research Center of the Ground Forces was created in December 2008 and was named the Combined Arms Academy of the Russian Armed Forces. It includes eleven branches. This is the leading and oldest military educational institution in the country, created in 1832, and only after 1917 it ceased to be called Nikolaevskaya, but was still called the Academy. In addition, until 1998 it proudly bore the name of the Red commander M.V. Frunze. The military training center of the Ground Forces was created through the reorganization, disbandment, and merger of previously existing military educational institutions. Time dictated it.
Therefore, the First Higher Officer Course named after Shaposhnikov and the Military Academy of Armored Forces named after Malinovsky joined the academy. In 2006, consolidation continued with a merger with the Kuibyshev Military Engineering Academy. And in 2013, the educational institution expanded even more significantly, and each branch of the military educational and scientific center of the Ground Forces contributed to increasing interaction between different military units, which is perhaps the main requirement of the rules of modern warfare.
Military schools
Eleven higher military educational institutions, through reorganization, merged into the Combined Arms Academy of the RF Armed Forces. This all happened in December 2008 after government order No. 1951. All military schools had the status of a military institute, since the word “higher” was present in the title.
So, the Combined Arms Academy included: Far Eastern Military Command School named after Rokossovsky (city of Blagoveshchensk), Kazan, Moscow, Novosibirsk military command schools, Yekaterinburg Artillery Military School, the famous Ryazan Airborne School, Omsk Tank Engineering Institute, Penza and Tula Engineering Artillery Institutes, Chelyabinsk Automotive Engineering School and Military Institute for Advanced Studies.
VUNTS Navy
The military training and scientific center of the Navy is the Naval Academy, located in St. Petersburg. Here they are engaged in the exploitation of nuclear energy in ship installations; ship diesel engines and electric, gas turbine and steam power plants are also studied. Academy graduates provide search and rescue operations for the Navy, are engaged in both weapons on ships and NBC protection, here they learn to build and repair ships, supply them with electronic defense equipment, and learn to use ship combat information control systems and radio equipment.
Technologies in their modern form require the closest interaction of specialists from different fields of knowledge. That is why each military training research center was created as a dictate of the times. Many educational institutions, not only military ones, have become larger. For example, what is electronic warfare? This is also a war, but with the use of radio emissions, which can completely disable all control, reconnaissance and communications systems. Our specialists need not only to change the quality of enemy information systems, but also to protect their own from the same. How can sailors now manage without radio physicists?
Branches
The St. Petersburg Training Center has a branch in Kaliningrad, where future signalmen, artillery and missilemen, and electronic reconnaissance specialists study. The second branch is located in Vladivostok. Here they teach how to drive sea vessels using navigation, study mine and torpedo weapons and use them, and also train signalmen and radio technicians here. Future naval sailors will master both coastal missile systems and artillery, comprehend all the complexities of the filling of cruise missiles - their electronic equipment, as well as anti-submarine weapons of naval aviation. Learn to use hydroacoustic systems.
