Which shopping center has a big aquarium? Mosaquarium
In November 2014, an amazing aquarium was opened in the new Moscow shopping and entertainment center “Aviapark” on Khodynskoye Pole. Later, its uniqueness was confirmed by a special visiting commission.
The peculiarity of the aquarium lies, first of all, in its height. It is 23 meters and makes the object tallest cylindrical aquarium in the world! This was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
The production of this miracle was carried out by the company International Concept Manegement. The cylinder was based on acrylic rings with a diameter of 6 meters, which made it possible to obtain a capacity of 650 cubic meters. Due to the massive artificial decoration, the useful volume of water is 370 cubic meters, which allows keeping up to 2.5 thousand fish.
Most fish species (there are about 60 species in the aquarium) belong to the coral reef zone. The most widely represented species are tangs, butterflies, angelfishes, triggerfishes and zebrasomas. The fish were selected taking into account their characteristics of maintenance and behavior so that they could all fit organically into the complex artificial ecosystem created by man. With proper care, fish in this ecosystem can live for many years: some species can live up to 25 years!
Maintenance of the aquarium is carried out through the upper block. All water treatment and filtration systems are located in a separate connected room. To prepare sea water, you have to take ordinary Moscow tap water, thoroughly purify it and then add sea salt and trace elements. The weight of the structure is 550 tons, supported thanks to special reinforcement of the foundation.
Of particular interest is aquarium maintenance. It is carried out by a team of 6 specialists. All cleaning and feeding work takes place with full immersion of ichthyologists working inside the aquarium with scuba gear. The feeding procedure itself is such an interesting spectacle that crowds of people gather to watch it. The food is served from ordinary plastic bottles; the fish know perfectly well what awaits them, so they eagerly await the appearance of people. It is also interesting to see how the scuba divers ascend: at certain intervals they stop to clear their heads; after all, a 23-meter column of water is no joke!
It’s safe to say that this aquarium has become a wonderful, surprising element of the interior design of the shopping center and has taken a central place in it. Many people specially come to see this miracle, which is unique not only for Russia, but also for the whole world!
And if you have not yet been to the Aviapark shopping and entertainment center, we definitely recommend that you visit it! At least just to look at the aquarium.

We saw this tall - the first tall aquarium (from floor to ceiling) quite by accident. We didn’t even know about this shopping complex until we ended up there because of one store :) In general, we saw a large aquarium and were simply delighted :) The fact is that my men (husband and son) simply adore fish and aquariums. We visit aquariums wherever they are. And we study fish in all aquariums, cafes, shops. In general, we were lucky in Thailand; at the jewelry factory there were a lot of large aquariums with a wide variety of marine life. There were even small sharks. The aquarium on Khodynka, which is located in the Aviapark shopping complex, is considered the tallest in the world. Its height is 23 meters. And more than 2000 tropical fish swim in it. The shopping center itself was opened last fall. And his feature became the tallest aquarium in the world. By the way, the shopping center itself with a total area of 390 thousand sq.m. became the largest in Europe.
Without binoculars, in my opinion, you can’t really see the fish. Although you can see them swimming by
The aquarium in Moscow is 7 meters higher than the Berlin aquarium DomAquare! Although, it is inferior in volume. The diameter of the cylinder-aquarium in the Aviapark is 6 meters, and its capacity is 650 cubic meters. m. But due to the coral reef, which is located in the very center from bottom to top, the Moscow aquarium holds only 370 cubic meters. m of water. The main aquarium has approximately the same volume. The tallest aquarium in the world is made of acrylic glass, the total weight of which is 55 tons.

The aquarium in Aviapark is visible from afar and from all levels - it is located in the center of the shopping center opposite the entrance. And if you're lucky, you can see a scuba diver feeding the fish. He does this 3 times a day.
We have been to the shopping center twice, but have never seen a scuba diver :)
By the way, the aquarium in the Ocean Plaza shopping center in Kiev is considered the largest in Eastern Europe. It opened a couple of years ago. There is a smaller aquarium in Belgorod in the MegaGrinn shopping center.
Mall area - 390,000 sq. m. For example, the largest Mega in Moscow (Belaya Dacha) has 300,000 sq. m. The 4-story shopping center is built in the shape of a smooth arc and is designed for more than 500 stores, where 150,000 people can be located at the same time. Walking the entire mall means walking 10 km. The food court occupies 800 sq. m. There is the largest Media Markt in Europe, the Debenhams flagship, the tallest aquarium, a 17-screen cinema, the only children's educational park in Russia, KidZania, will open in the fall - and so on, and so on.
Local residents were against the construction
Luzhkov also decided that a pedestrian zone, an aviation museum and a park “Historical Landscapes of Moscow” would appear on Khodynskoye Field, where the Aviapark is now located. After that, the field stood idle for 10 years, and in the spring of 2012 it became known that instead of a park, a shopping center would appear on Khodynka. Local residents staged rallies against the project, but nothing came of it.

Mysterious owners, shareholders and developers
At first, developer Mikhail Zayets, whose company Amma Development employs former IKEA top management, was named as the project’s investor. How a little-known businessman managed to agree on such a project was unclear until it became clear that Arkady Rotenberg’s structures were involved in the matter. Investments in the project amounted to more than $1 billion, among the shareholders is Igor Rotenberg (son).
The mall was built in just two years
The first foundation stone was laid exactly two years ago, in 2012, with the intention of opening the mall at the end of 2014. Despite the crisis, the departure of tenants and general economic problems, Aviapark opens on time, although not completely filled. It is expected that 85% of tenants will move in by April.

In the center of the mall stands the tallest aquarium in the world
The 24-meter aquarium is impossible not to notice: it starts on the ground floor and ends right under the glass ceiling (you can really see the sky through it). 3,000 fish were brought here from the Red Sea; a scuba diver descends into the glass high-rise building three times a day to feed the fish and at the same time wash the walls from the inside. Fish are very sensitive to aggressive light and loud music, so the aquarium is placed at some distance from everything.
Inside there will be a kindergarten, an ice skating rink, a Tu-154 plane, and two museums nearby.
A kindergarten - to keep the children occupied, a skating rink - for everyone else, two museums, a metro and modern art - to further establish itself as an inimitable place. The fuselage of the plane is part of the Mexican children's park of professions KidZania, which is opening in Russia for the first time. The principle is the same as that of the local “Masterslavl”, only the companies inside, presumably, will be Western. The program lasts 5 hours, takes place twice a day, a thousand children will be launched at a time - everything opens next fall.
Place for small shops
6000 sq. m on the 3rd floor is reserved for the Trend Island zone. Aviapark considers itself the inventor of this format, but in fact, Tsvetnoy, for example, is structured on the same principle: in one place with a common cash register, five dozen brands and stores sell their items at once. By the way, the anchor tenant, as in Tsvetnoy, will be the Items company, to which Moscow owes the appearance of Wood Wood, Minimarket and other youth European brands.

Getting to the mall will be easy, but not right away
Now the walk from the metro takes on average half an hour, so after the opening of the Dinamo and Polezhaevskaya metro stations, free buses will start running, and a new minibus will be launched, which will cover a radius of 3-4 km in the district. And next year, the Khodynskoye Pole metro station will open near Aviapark. Residents of the area are terrified of traffic jams.
Previously, in large shopping centers, people made dates at the fountains, and now, more and more often, at the aquariums. Two years ago, the largest aquarium in Eastern Europe opened in Kiev, and a smaller one soon appeared in Belgorod. Now in Moscow there is an aquarium, characterized by the attributive pronoun - the most. The tallest in the world! (Amendment, from 2016 " ").
Photo 1. On the opening day of the Aviapark shopping center, the Fortuna Brass ensemble of brass instruments performs on the podium near the aquarium
Large aquariums are available in all Russian and foreign aquariums. But nowhere is it as high (23 meters on glass!) as in the Aviapark shopping and entertainment complex. The dimensions of the cylinder with sea water and thousands of fish match the Aviapark itself, created in just two years on Khodynka.
Photo 2. View of the aquarium from the first level
This place in Moscow has long been famous for folk festivals, a hippodrome, and the oldest and recently closed airfield. In recent years, Khodynskoe Field has been massively built up with residential buildings; the Sports Palace and Aviator Park were opened here. The list goes on. But what was missing was the largest (even by European standards) shopping center.
Photo 3. View of the aquarium from the third floor
And on November 28, 2014, the Aviapark shopping and entertainment complex opened to amaze everyone with its scale. Unfortunately, bicycles are not available for rent at the entrance, so it is advisable to bring your own scooters. Otherwise, its 390 thousand square meters. m and you can’t get around it in a week.
Photo 4. This is what the aquarium looks like from the 4th floor galleries
But let's return to the Aviapark's feature - the aquarium created by the subsidiary of the American company Reynolds Polymer Technology (RPT) - International Concept Management, Inc (ICM). These are the world's leading manufacturers, designers and builders of unique acrylic aquariums. And now even the famous marine cylinder aquarium built by ICM in Berlin cannot be called the largest. At least only in height.
Photo 5. So the aquarium is visible in the middle part with the naked eye
The Moscow aquarium is 7 meters higher than the Berlin one! Its volume is, of course, smaller. With an internal diameter of 6 meters, the acrylic cylinder of the Aviapark holds 650 cubic meters. m, but due to the artificial coral reef, the aquarium actually contains 370 cubic meters. m of water. This is also a substantial volume, about the same as the main aquarium. The acrylic glass of the aquarium weighs 55 tons.
Photo 6. The base of the acrylic cylinder of the aquarium
The Aviapark Aquarium is conveniently located - on the main “street” of the shopping complex opposite the entrance. It is visible from afar from all four levels. The key word here is “from afar.” You can only get relatively close to the aquarium from below. Strict signs do not advise hitting glass or taking pictures with flash. At the base of the cylinder, they prudently made a conical base and lined it with smooth tiles, so that it would be more difficult for visitors who are not quite adequate to get to the wall of the aquarium.
Photo 7. To better see the aquarium, you have to use optical devices, for example, a long-focus lens of a photo or video camera
Photo 8. This way you can see it even better
So you won’t be able to admire thousands of beautiful coral but small fish in this aquarium. You can see them well from the galleries opposite the aquarium only with binoculars. However, this is not a bad idea. Binoculars, like in a theater, must be rented out for money and thus monetize the spectacle.
Photo 9. And it’s really good. But not everyone stocked up on binoculars.
While telescopes are not offered, the largest aquarium observation objects are in plain view - divers. There are a lot of fish and they are distributed throughout the entire thickness of the aquarium. Therefore, divers are not left without work, and visitors are not left without spectacles. To feed all the fish you have to often dive with a plastic bottle “charged” with food.
Photo 10. The image quality is low, since this is a scan of a video with high magnification. But it is clear that the diver is feeding the fish from a bottle
It is interesting to observe how the diver sometimes removes the mouthpiece from his mouth to blow air into the bottle. Apparently this technique helps him push the food out of the plastic container in portions. The wetsuit on the diver's left leg has a special large pocket where an empty bottle can be put away with some effort. After work, the diver climbs to the conical superstructure of the aquarium. The assistant takes the scuba gear from him and, after dangling his legs a little, the diver hides from the observers. The aquarium is connected to the technical room by a bridge right under the ceiling (photo 11).
Photo 11. This frame shows the technological bridge and aquarium pipeline
By tradition, the opening of RPT aquariums is accompanied by a cheerful show of clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers and a brass band with drums. It was the same this time. On the podium in front of the aquarium, they entertained people after the fashion show. And this is just the beginning.
Photo 12. The diver has run out of fish food, it’s time to go to the surface
Photo 13. On the podium in front of the aquarium, the artists of the Moscow street theater “Tall Brothers & Tall Brothers” “light up”
Photo 14. The launch of the aquarium in the Aviapark was a success!
The first acquaintance with the new public aquarium in the Aviapark shopping center left a double impression. On the one hand, the aquarium is, of course, impressive in size. On the other hand, it cannot be called expositional. Thousands of wonderful, beautiful, interesting fish to watch are so far from the audience that they are simply not visible. But that's just my opinion. Look,
Here are 20 of the most amazing aquariums in the whole world. You will be impressed!Located in the lobby of the Radisson SAS Hotel in Berlin, the AquaDom, at 25 meters high, is the largest cylindrical aquarium in the world. It is filled with more than 900,000 liters of seawater and contains about 2,600 fish of 56 species. Thanks to the large amount of sandblasted glass, the aquarium gives the hall a feeling of lightness and transparency. Guests and visitors can travel through the aquarium in a glass elevator to the sightseeing point and restaurant under the glass roof. The fish are looked after by two divers who also maintain the aquarium. AquaDom was opened in December 2003. Its cost is about 12.8 million euros.

The iPond is an iPod accessory that consists of a speaker and a tiny aquarium. One fish lives in about 650 milliliters of water. It is extremely popular in Australia, but some believe it is cruel to the fish. Hugh Wirth, a spokesman for the RSPCA, says that despite the betta fish's ability to breathe on the surface, the tank is too small to obtain the required amount of oxygen. A small amount of water will cause a rapid change in temperature, which means that the tropical fish will not live long. "iPond should be banned," says Dr. Wirth.

Teach a man to fish and he will eat for the rest of his life. Put a fish in a person's toilet and he will never be bored visiting it. This funny saying can be found on Fish "n Flush toilets. The Fish "n Flush is a patented two-piece cistern designed by water system innovator AquaOne Technologies, Inc. The aquarium holds 2.2 gallons of water. When you flush the water, it seems that all the water comes out of the tank and the fish are washed away, but this is just an optical illusion: in fact, the fish are completely safe in another part of the tank, made of polished plastic. And the water that is drained is in a separate container, behind the aquarium.
4. Aquarium car
Siam Ocean World, Siam Paragon, Bangkok has an amazing car that you can't drive. Why? Because it is filled to the top with water! Dozens of fish call this radically modified vehicle home. The doors on this car are pre-sealed in case anyone mistakenly thinks it would be funny to release so much water and fish onto the mall floor.

The Aquapict Jellyfish aquarium is a huge success in Japan, in which jellyfish that change their color swim like in the sea, only they are not real. Made from highly realistic silicone, the jellyfish swim and change color with a 5-color lighting system (red, yellow, green, blue and purple). They move thanks to the light flow created in the container, which does not create streams or bubbles and therefore everything looks extremely lifelike and beautiful.

This guy is really crazy about fish and aquariums. He built this wonderful water pipe for fish in his cafe. You can take a seat, relax and watch the fish swim through this conduit. This is very unusual, but you have to note his ingenuity. Fish can move from one tank to another because this water pipe connects them.
