T7 Combat Car Light wheeled and tracked tank. T7 Combat Car Light wheeled-tracked tank What kind of tank is the T7 Combat Car
The game World of Tanks received a prestigious award in the gaming industry - Golden Joystick Awards 2013! Congratulations on your well-deserved award! This is a truly remarkable event, and the developers have prepared a surprise for the players. With the release of update 0.8.9, everyone was awarded an American premium light tank of the 2nd level T7 Combat car.
The tank is free, and you shouldn’t expect anything supernatural from it. Usually, in this case, players are faced with the question: leave the tank in the hangar or sell it, receiving a free slot and credits. Let's figure out what T7 is and what to do with it.
Let's start with the main characteristics of the tank. The armor is quite normal for a light tank:
Case: 15/12/6.
Tower: 12/12/12.
Of course, the tank will be penetrated by any weapon, but most Tier 2 vehicles have similar protection.
The armament is extremely weak - a 12-mm M2 Browning machine gun. There are only armor-piercing bullets for it; there are no sub-caliber bullets for it. Penetration is only 22 mm, this is only enough for 1-2 levels. Level 3 is very difficult to break through and T7 becomes useless. And it is generally impossible to break through such PTs as T18 (2-lvl).
The dynamics of the tank are quite mediocre, the maximum speed is 38 km/h. This makes the T7 an excellent target.
The M2 Stuart light tank also has a Browning machine gun among its available weapons. Surprisingly, but true: with the same machine guns, they have different rates of fire! For the M2 it is 129 rounds/min, and for the T7 it is 116 rounds/min. How can it be? It turns out that the T7 is worse than the stock M2...
The result is very disappointing. The T7 is inferior to all tier 2 light tanks, both in armament and mobility. Even T1E6 plays much nicer. The machine gun can only penetrate the rear of most tanks, but with mediocre dynamics it is unlikely to be able to go around the enemy. My advice is to sell this tank and don’t waste your time.
Official designation: Christie M1932
Alternative designation:
Start of design: 1931
Date of construction of the first prototype: 1932
Completion stage: one prototype has been built.
The pinnacle of development of the “cavalry combat vehicles” created by the Christie company in the 1930s can be considered the one that appeared in 1937. In all respects, this vehicle could be classified as a tank. It used a purely tank “classical” layout, with the control compartment located in the bow, the combat compartment in the middle, and the engine-transmission compartment in the rear of the hull. The hull itself was assembled from rolled armor plates with a thickness of 6.35-12.7 mm, and only the front plates had a small angle of inclination. The T7's armament consisted of two machine guns, 12.7 mm and 7.62 mm, mounted in a hexagonal turret from the Combat Car M1.
The crew of the vehicle consisted of three people: a driver, a commander and a machine gunner. The T7 chassis was largely the same as Christie's earlier designs. For one side, it consisted of three large-diameter road wheels with pneumatic tires, a front drive wheel and a rear guide wheel. The tank's suspension remained standard, like that of other Christie vehicles - it consisted of vertical spring springs enclosed in cylindrical casings. Accordingly, the T7 could move both on wheels and on tracks.
The only prototype of the T7 Combat Car (number W40223) was submitted for testing in April 1937. The car showed good speed characteristics, but the opinion of the cavalry representatives was not so positive. General Chaffee, after the 1939 maneuvers, announced that the Combat Car T7 did not meet the requirements - changing from a tracked to a wheeled one seemed to him too long, and the system itself was unreliable. Then the choice was finally made in favor of purely tracked vehicles - in October 1939, the Combat Car T7 program was canceled, which ended the history of wheeled-tracked combat vehicles for the US Army, which used the Christie type.

In November 1936, the American cavalrymen (who, let me remind you, were prohibited by the absurd lobbying “National Defense Act” of 1920 from having normal tanks, including guns) finally posed the question bluntly: they demanded a normal vehicle, with armor, capable of acting together with cavalry and solve normal combat missions.
Since the vehicle’s mileage was expected to be quite high, in accordance with the cavalry marches, the choice of a wheel-tracked design looks reasonable (although tracks with many thousands of miles were already on the way, in my opinion?). At the same time, the Americans took into account the sad experience of using smooth alloy tires and attached normal pneumatic tires with lugs to all six 38x7-inch wheels. Naturally - with a sponge filler, so that the first bullet does not blow it away.
The vehicle's armament was quite American-traditional for cavalry - an M2 heavy machine gun and three regular M1919 calibers, four machine guns for three...
Seven-cylinder Continental W-670 radial engine with 250 hp. could drive this machine weighing about 11 tons at a speed of 56 km/h on tracks and almost 85 km/h on wheels. Serious attention was paid to the design of the chassis. Thus, the rear wheels were suspended on a balancing trolley, strikingly reminiscent in design of the rear axles of some commercial three-axle truck. Let it be from the point of view. a tank and this is not ideal, but the wheeled drive turns out to be simple and reliable, without such perversions as the “guitars” of the Christie system. And the internal volume and external arrangement of the suspension elements saves, which is useful. The machine is small.
The chassis on one side consisted of three large-diameter road wheels with pneumatic tires, a front drive wheel and a rear guide wheel. The front drive wheel was suspended individually, and since its suspension travel was much greater than that of the rear wheels, the track shelf above it had to be gracefully curved, immediately making the design of the vehicle easily recognizable (not counting the three-wheel suspension, which is also difficult to confuse).

Tests of the T7 Combat Car (number W40223) took place right up to 1939, and were quite successful, the car even took part in maneuvers near Plattsburgh (New York), where the cavalrymen liked it, but... In October 1939, while the trial was in progress, the cavalrymen formulated new requirements for their “combat vehicles”, which in particular stipulated the use of conventional tracked vehicles. The tracks have already grown in resource and the need for wheeled-tracked solutions has disappeared. And I already wanted a cannon, the wars in Europe clearly showed this. The development was stopped. Although, in fact, with just a penny change you could get an excellent tank or wheeled armored car...
However, it should be noted that the Americans were not alone in their stupidity when choosing and developing weapons. In light of this project, I will express my regret - that it was in vain that Soviet designers began to blindly copy the Christie tank. If the ah BT tank had not been equipped with a spark plug suspension and these same “guitars”, the road wheels had been “shod” with pneumatic tires, and had also placed a large three-man turret with a commander’s cupola, then the Soviet troops would have received a really excellent tank. The BT would have good visibility, a smooth ride, would not spoil the road surface on wheels, and could be easily equipped not only with a 45 mm 20K cannon, but also with more powerful weapons - 76 mm PS-3, F-32 or F-32 cannons. 34. It was quite possible to implement this, but alas, it was not yet realized that this had to be done.
A clear example of this is the case of the T-28 tank. The Soviets never realized that they had simply an excellent, reliable and trouble-free tank. Having blindly copied English developments, they did not understand what advantages its spacious, three-man turret had (by the way, with a turret that reappeared on Soviet tanks only in the 50s!) and abandoned this medium tank, as well as the development and production of its deep modernization T-28U. They began to take risks, in the face of a serious military danger (WWII), and began to develop and produce completely new tanks and the much-praised T-34 and KV. And completely in vain. The adoption of the T-34 and KV was a big mistake. This decision was one of the many reasons for the defeat of the Red Army in 1941. Because the T-34 and KV were expensive, unfinished, and crude. These tanks often broke down, they had poor visibility and working conditions for the crew. The transmission of the KV and T-34 was inferior in efficiency to most German and American tanks, and to its own Soviet tanks such as the T-28, T-100, which led to a decrease in speed indicators, despite the good power density. The V-2 diesel engines were as raw as the tank itself and - they were even more fire hazardous than the M-17F, were unreliable, and did not last the warranty period. The shortcomings were countless. Only by 1943-1944 were most of the shortcomings eliminated. (When I find some free time, I will describe this entire interesting topic in detail with posts).
Modernization of the T-28 is another matter. The adoption and start of production of the T-28U - with one turret, 76 mm F-32/F-34 cannon (or 85 mm F-30 cannon), 80 mm frontal armor and 52 mm side armor, torsion bar suspension, made the appearance of KV with T-34. Among other things, the T-28U would be distinguished by a lower price and manufacturability in production than the T-34 and KV. My opinion that it was necessary to produce the T-28U, by the way, is completely shared by such respected tank historians as Mikhail Svirin, Ostgott, Strangernn, Ktyr. Light tank and BT with a three-man turret and 76 mm cannon, medium tank and T-28U with an 85 mm cannon, heavy self-propelled guns SU-100Y with a 130 mm cannon (on the basis of the SU-100Y, by the way, it is possible in the future to make a first-class heavy tank), would have significantly facilitated the USSR's conduct of the war, but alas, none of this was done.
Greetings, my dear readers, Phoenix is with you again, and today we will talk about a tank, the presence of which in my hangar is quite mystical, the fact is that I have no idea where it came from, this is a promotional tank T7 Combat Car - it’s logical that I got it It’s on sale for me, but what and when I don’t know, to be honest, of course I haven’t entered the game for a very long time, but... oh okay, let’s talk about the tank.
So, the machine is quite transparent in its understanding. To briefly describe this unit, it is an American light vehicle, lacking speed, maneuverability and dynamics, but having a rather interesting weapon. Actually, the tank is light, it has little armor, of course it seems to be there, and even seems to be tilted, but it saves... but it doesn’t save shit, so we draw a simple conclusion - we are a second-line player, a cover player, if you like. Further: we are slow and not maneuverable, the turret rotates extremely mediocre - all this again contributes to the position of covering more intelligent vehicles, and a speed of 40 km/h deprives us of the opportunity to shine. Weapons - everything is more interesting here, but whether this is positive or not... is difficult to say. We have a loading drum, there are 50 small... very small-caliber shells in the drum. Weapon penetration is 22 mm, those who often play in the sand know that 22 mm is actually not enough to penetrate hordes of T18 or other pedobir benders. That is, we also need to choose poorly armored targets. Based on these data, you can derive a couple of practical tips.
Tips for playing T7 Combat Car in World of Tanks Pros and Cons of T7 Combat Car in WoT
- Due to the low speed and poor maneuverability, do not try to climb ahead of everyone, you simply will not be able to return later.
- Your armor will not save you - don’t even think about exchanging HP with someone.
- Choose weakly armored targets - and try to shoot at the sides, where you will most likely be able to realize all the damage of the drum (it, by the way, is approximately 400 units)
How to get T7 Combat Car?
As I already said, the tank is a promotional one, and it was issued... well, I don’t remember when, maybe for the New Year, I don’t care, in general, it’s most likely impossible to get it any other way now. That is, this tank is now only available to those who received it as part of a promotion and have not yet sold it, and most likely the picture will always be like this, usually such tanks are not then put up for sale in premium stores, and are not even given as a gift for any edition .
And judging by people’s comments about this tank, they don’t really want it in their collection.
pros
- Potential drum damage 400
- 50 shells in a drum.
- Huge rate of fire.
- Large ammunition load.
Minuses
- Weak armor
- Poor armor penetration
- Low dynamics
- Large scatter
Conclusion
Well, this material should end here, the tank, as you understand, is quite unambiguous, it is, so to speak, a sandy hardcore version of the fan... something like that)) In general, follow the advice, take advantage of its advantages - and then you will probably get enjoyment of playing on this machine. Good luck everyone, I'm off.

Hello, tank men and women, welcome to the site! Friends, today our guest is one of the funniest representatives of the sandbox, an American light premium tank of the second level - here is the T7 Combat Car guide.
The main highlight of this unit is not its colossal power or impenetrable armor, everything is much more prosaic. We were given fun weapons and a preferential level of fighting (we only fight with classmates). To the question “How to get T7 Combat Car?” The answer is simple - no way, this copy is a gift.
TTX T7 Combat Car
Regarding the general parameters of this machine, it was given a standard margin of safety compared to its classmates and the same unremarkable overview, however, it will be enough for you in most cases.
If you look at the T7 Combat Car's armor characteristics, there is nothing remarkable here either. Our tank is being penetrated by all and sundry, and now we are not even talking about guns, but about these low-level machine guns.
But there is a bright side to this abundance of numbers, it lies in mobility. The T7 Combat Car WoT tank has a good maximum speed, which it picks up very quickly due to excellent dynamics, and we were not deprived of maneuverability; turning around or making turns is a pleasure.
gun
Now let's talk about the promised fun, because we can't call our American's weapons any other way.
The T7 Combat Car gun has a very low alpha; on average, one cartridge deals 8 units of damage. But the point is that we were given a magazine loading system, and one belt contains as many as 50 shells, which we spit out at great speed.
Of course, our armor penetration is also small, but if you drive into your opponent’s side, you can easily send him to the hangar, even if he had a full margin of safety. The only problem with this abundance of fun is that the American light T7 Combat Car tank takes a long time to recharge, so be careful.
In terms of accuracy, our “gun” is capable of surprising, because it has fast aiming and a small spread, so shooting at medium distances is our strong point. By the way, the T7 Combat Car World of Tanks has a gun depression angle of as much as 15 degrees, this is also a very good result.
Advantages and disadvantages
As you can see, we have quite a large number of both obvious strengths and obvious weaknesses, and to make it easier for you to understand the abundance of numbers in the parameters, let’s look at everything separately.
Pros:
Potentially high damage in one reel;
Very high rate of fire;
Excellent accuracy and convergence time;
Good mobility, dynamics, maneuverability;
Comfortable UVN;
Preferential level of battles.
Minuses:
Weak penetration;
Cardboard armor;
Poor stabilization;
Long drum recharge;
Our tower rotates very slowly.
Equipment for T7 Combat Car
Well what can I say. On low-level vehicles, the choice of additional modules is very limited, and therefore you should choose only the most necessary and suitable for your tank. In the case of the T7 Combat Car, we install the following equipment:
1. – will help compensate for the lack of visibility.
2. – if you speed up the information even more, it will be more comfortable to deal damage.
3. is an excellent option that will allow us to gain an advantage over some opponents.
Crew training
In terms of choosing skills for the four valiant tankers sitting in this car, everything is not so difficult. Guided by the principle of getting the maximum benefit from everything, we will upgrade perks on the T7 Combat Car in the following sequence:
Commander (gunner) – , , , .
Driver mechanic - , , , .
Radio operator – , , , .
Loader – , , , .
Equipment for T7 Combat Car
It’s even easier with consumables, because a standard gentleman’s set of, , , will be enough for you. Of course, if you don’t have problems with silver or gold, you can equip the T7 Combat Car with equipment in the form of , and , and if you wish, replace the last option with , but these investments will not pay off in any way, so it’s up to you to decide.
Tactics for playing T7 Combat Car
Battles in the sandbox are very dynamic, fast and fun, so our unit is ideal for having a little fun and relaxing after fighting at high levels.
On the T7 Combat Car, combat tactics come down to positioning on the second line. We can’t climb too far forward, because due to our weak armor and small margin of safety, departure to the hangar will not take long. Hide behind the ruins, use excellent high explosive weapons, playing off the terrain, use your mobility, constantly cruising around the map.
In other words, you should make the most of your advantages. T7 Combat Car World of Tanks can pick up 1-2 opponents in one reel in record time, but do not forget that it takes more than 20 seconds to reload and during this time it is better to hide somewhere.
Otherwise, act carefully, try to be cunning, deceive your opponents, keep an eye on the mini-map and do not fight with a superior number of enemies. T7 Combat Car WoT can bring you a lot of fun, because you will only have to fight with vehicles of the second and first levels.
