Scary fisherman. Horror stories
For many people, fishing is an excuse to escape reality, problems, or simply try to become one with nature. If you are lucky, you will be able to bring home the loot from which you will cook dinner, or you will bring back a lot of emotions, photos and video footage. As a rule, most fishermen do not have to worry about the loss of fingers or hands, since fishing for carp, and maybe even a predator, for example, perch, has never injured anyone so severely due to the fault of the fish. But there are predatory fish, whom many refer to as energetic fighters. They will fight you to the last, and you will become the prey!
We propose to consider a list of several predatory individuals that you should be wary of. Most are not found in reservoirs and rivers of Russia, but many will be interested in familiarizing themselves. Nobody knows, perhaps in the future, you will be fishing in a distant country and catch a similar fish, and after the article you will be ready for its aggression. We begin:
1. Goliath (Goliath tigerfish in English). There are many extreme sportsmen who try to catch this fish, but when they try to remove it from the hook, they lose their fingers. Length up to 1.5 meters, weight over 45 kilograms. It can only be found in the Congo Basin and other nearby lakes in Africa. The fish has an almost mythical status in its natural environment, being the subject of legends of attacks on humans. Researchers believe that melon fish have a problem differentiating humans from other fish, and attack humans as prey.
Despite the wild danger, fishermen compete to catch it, travel throughout Africa in search of Goliath, looking for their chance to fight this dragon. We invite you to watch the video:
2. Giant catfish (blue). Have you ever caught a catfish, or maybe taken it out of the water? giant species? There is no need to go into detail about the fact that this is a desirable mining target, not only in the Russian Federation, but also in Asia and Europe. IN Asian countries he is called " giant devil“, since no one was able to pull him out of the water without a fight. IN European states There was even hysteria, they said that they swallowed children, pulled fishermen into the river, trying to suck them in, and in Hungary there was even an incident when he attached himself to a fisherman’s leg and dug into sharp teeth and dragged him to the bottom. But all this is speculation and assumptions, but in India there was a case recorded, and more than one, where catfish drowned people. A fish weighing 370 kg and 4 meters long can afford it!
3. Pike. It's simple - fast, aggressive, and boasts teeth like a saw. She can easily ruin all your plans for the day and end your fishing ahead of time. If you've ever seen a pike grab a bait or swallow a small duckling out of the water, then you know that these fish are very strong. Like many other predatory species, it tries to attack covertly, but in order to surprise you. As a matter of fact, why can’t you put your fingers in her mouth or keep her close? Watch the recording, everything will become clear!
4. Barracuda. Imagine if you crossed a snake with a piranha! They are solitary fish that can eat prey as large as themselves. Magnificent predators that often chase large fish and slowly tear off pieces of their body. Many divers were attacked, for many it ended sadly, some became disabled. Was in the USA interesting case attacks. A small specimen attacked the child when he reached into the water for gear to change the hook and bait. According to my father, it felt like she was waiting for us under the boat. It jumped out like a torpedo and ripped open the boy’s veins, but he was lucky that dad was nearby. We managed to take him to the hospital and stop the bleeding. This is how the fishing turned out, the whole boat is covered in blood! The speed is impressive, isn't it?
5. Alligator fish or shell pike. This freshwater species, which is one of the largest commercial species V North America. They can grow up to 2 meters in length. This toothy predator is currently becoming increasingly popular in America, but anglers in the Russian Federation should not worry. Due to their prehistoric heritage, the "crocodile" possesses more than one row of teeth. They have no remorse and attack without worrying or studying their prey. They use their "saws" to attack unsuspecting fishermen if you get too close. Here's a video from Discovery, on English language. For those who don’t understand, watch from 3 minutes.
6. Marlin. Again, not our fish, but it poses a danger. There’s not much to say here, but it’s impossible not to mention their knife, which is capable of piercing everything and everyone. The danger itself lies in the fact that the fisherman, pulling him onto the side of the boat, does not stun him, but he, in turn, begins to actively kick, thereby potentially cutting everyone around him.
At the end we could add sharks, but this is already exotic, although fishing for them is popular in the West. Deadly and big fish, which is dangerous both under water and already caught on a boat. There are plenty of such cases when fishermen were attacked in the moments of the death throes of a shark on board. In such a situation, she is capable of biting off a leg, an arm, and even the whole person like a boiled potato.
Be careful and have a good catch!

Many people think that our planet has already been thoroughly studied. This is not at all true. In the last ten years, for example, biologists and other scientists have discovered and described in detail about one hundred thousand new species of animals!
Lesula
Endemic equatorial Africa, which for some reason is very actively hunted by local residents. This is the first the new kind monkeys since 1984.
Oliniguito
![](https://i1.wp.com/image2.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/290f39c5ff.jpg)
Imagine the descendant of a cat and a cute teddy bear - this is exactly what oliniguito looks like. It is very difficult to meet the animal; it lives only in cloud forests, high on the slopes of the Andes.
Armored earth snail
![](https://i1.wp.com/image2.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/54f68021aa.jpg)
Scientists discovered this almost by accident unusual look. Pantsirnaya land snail lives in caves in western Croatia, about 900 meters underground. She has no eyes at all.
Night leaf-tailed gecko
![](https://i0.wp.com/image3.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/6b0c7d474e.jpg)
It is very difficult to notice such a master of camouflage. Biologists long years were looking for new types of geckos and couldn't spot this one right in front of our eyes!
Cambodian dressmaker
![](https://i2.wp.com/image1.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/801da2b1cd.jpg)
As you can guess from the name, the bird is found only in Cambodia. Unfortunately, recently open view is endangered due to climate change.
Burmese snub-nosed monkey
![](https://i0.wp.com/image2.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/e84f16c3de.jpg)
By a whim of nature, poor Rhinopithecus has no nose at all. When it rains, the monkey sneezes because water flows right into his sinuses!
Paedophryne amauensis
![](https://i1.wp.com/image1.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/e1f7a4021f.jpg)
The microfrog is officially recognized as the smallest vertebrate on the entire planet. The size of Paedophryne amauensis does not exceed seven millimeters - it is surprising that scientists were able to see it at all.
Varanus bitatawa
![](https://i1.wp.com/image2.thematicnews.com/uploads/images/45/16/83/02017/12/22/2e2c31c00f.jpg)
Scientists discovered Varanus bitatawa for the first time quite recently. The monitor lizard's distribution area is limited to the forests of the central Sierra Madre - it's a kind of stay-at-home monitor lizard.

The deep-sea anglerfish itself surprises scientists, and the Lasiognathus dinema variety has become a phenomenon. The predator is found only in the Gulf of Mexico at a depth of one and a half kilometers; it was discovered only last year.
Photos of truly frightening monsters that were caught by fishermen. Even the mere realization that such things can live under the surface of the water creepy creatures, can instill real fear. Next you can see 15 photographs of strange sea creatures, as well as the most terrible sea inhabitants.
The most terrible sea creatures caught by fishermen photo
This creature was caught by fisherman Roman Fedortsov, who works on a fishing trawler in the North-West region of Russia. According to some assumptions, this is a representative of chimera cartilaginous fish. It looks like a truly unearthly and frightening creature.
This creature with one eye was caught by a fisherman from Mexico, Enrique Lucero Leon. Here is a shark that, as a result of a mutation, received only one eye. Furthermore, the shark is not only a cyclops, but also an albino.
This giant eye was discovered in 2012 on Pompano Beach in Florida. Researchers were never able to figure out who it could belong to. It was originally assumed that the eye belonged to giant squid, however, as a result of research, this version was discarded, and the eye remained a mystery to science.
The two-headed cetacean was caught by Dutch fishermen. Scientists were never able to find out the type of sea animal, since fishermen, after taking a photo, sent it back to the sea, fearing that its possession might be considered illegal.
In front of you is a fish whose eyes glow. This type fish is called the "European Chimera". One of the representatives of this species was caught by Scott Tanner and his team from Nova Scotia (Canada). Fishermen saw a couple glowing eyes in the water and decided to catch strange creature. Fishermen, some of whom most We've spent our lives at sea and have never seen anything like it. In fact, all European chimeras have glowing eyes, which allows them to catch fish. great depth, where there is very little light, however, due to the fact that they live at the very bottom of the ocean, they become prey for sailors extremely rarely.
Giant Antarctic squid. Was caught off the coast of New Zealand. Considered to be the largest squid ever caught. Weight sea creature amounted to 450 kilograms.

Creepy fish that live at the bottom of the ocean can easily outshine the most frightening scary monsters from the cinema. This fish was caught in the ocean near Australia.
This photo does not belong to underwater monsters, but it is no less scary, so it’s worth telling about it. The gruesome discovery was made in 2016. Two fishermen in the Philippines were out to sea when they saw a strange yacht adrift. When they boarded the yacht, they discovered the body of a man who had been literally mummified by the salty air of the ocean, dry winds and high temperature air. It later turned out that the fisherman was the German yachtsman Manfred Fritz Bajorath.
A fish with two mouths was caught in Australia.
Pelagic largemouth shark- a type of shark that is extremely rare for people due to the fact that it lives at great depths.
The giant fish "Herring King" was washed ashore, after which more than 10 people took photos with it, holding the snake-like creature in their hands, showing off its extraordinary length. Herring king this fish was nicknamed by Norwegian fishermen, who often noticed giant creature in schools of herring.
A creepy frilled shark was caught off the coast of Australia. It looks very creepy.
Giant Moonfish or Sunfish. The largest specimen was caught in 1910. The weight of this fish is 1580 kg.
Branched brittle star or snaketail. Marine animals that live at the bottom of the seas. A branched brittle star was caught in Singapore and scared the fisherman to death. Indeed, this animal is extremely unusual and very creepy. More like a cross between starfish, corals and worms, which are intertwined into one lump. Once in the boat with the sailor, the creature wriggled with all its limbs.
The real monster was caught near Fukushima, Japan. This is a catfish fish, which for unknown reasons has reached gigantic proportions. Regular representatives of this species reach a maximum of one meter in length and weigh up to 15 kg. The caught specimen was twice as large.
Our planet seems completely familiar and studied far and wide. But in the last 10 years alone, biologists have described more than one hundred thousand new species of animals and plants. “Around the World” selected the 20 most interesting
In the news flow, messages appear every now and then about the disappearance of another species, about the Red Data Books and the struggle for conservation. species diversity. In fact, taxonomic reference books only swell from year to year: so many new species are discovered that they don’t even have time to properly describe them. And among the discoverers there are not only biologists. So, during the filming of Titanic, James Cameron became the “father” of a whole new family of shrimp - simply because ocean depths almost unexplored, and almost any person can become the author of the discovery of a new species. Experts believe that the waters of the World Ocean are home to hundreds of thousands of currently unknown species of fish, mollusks and crustaceans (not to mention protozoa). On land, too, new species are constantly being discovered, and this is not necessarily a small bug or bacterium - a few years ago, say, through DNA analysis, elephants from Borneo were recognized as a separate subspecies.
International Institute for Species Studies(IISE) , located in American city Since 2008, Syracuse (New York) has annually published a ranking of the 10 most remarkable species of living things (including extinct organisms) described over the past 12 months. With the help of specialists IISE“Around the World” collected the top 20 over the past decade.
Giant turtle
Chelonoidis donfaustoi
People have been familiar with Galapagos, or elephant, tortoises for a long time: it is known that in the 19th century, Charles Darwin’s observations of different populations elephant turtles made the most serious contribution to his theory of evolution. But only in 2015, the population of these animals on the island of Santa Cruz (Galapagos archipelago) was identified as separate species based on genetic and morphological data. It is named after the caretaker of the Galapagos National Park, Fausto Llerena Sánchez (Don Fausto), who dedicated 43 years to this work.
Scary fisherman
Lasiognathus dinema
In 2015, a new species was discovered in the Gulf of Mexico at a depth of about one and a half kilometers deep sea anglerfish. Like all anglerfish (or monkfish), Lasiognathus dinema- a predator that lures victims to the light at the end of its fishing rod (a modified upper fin with a colony of luminescent bacteria).
Beetle toy
Megaceras briansaltini
Belongs to the subfamily of duplyakov within the family Lamelidae. Discovered in 2008 in Peru (generally, Megaceras found only in southern and Central America). Surprisingly similar to the rhinoceros beetle Dim from the Disney film “The Adventures of Flick”, filmed eight years before the opening Megaceras briansaltini.
Psychedelic clown
Histiophryne psychedelica
Discovered in 2008 off the coast of Ambon Island in Indonesia. This representative of the clown family does not actually swim, but jumps along the bottom, pushing off from it with modified pectoral fins (more like paws) and creating jet thrust sudden ejection of water from the gill slits.
sea pony
Hippocampus satomiae
The tiny seahorse, 1.5 cm long and 1 cm high, was discovered in 2008. Today it is the smallest representative of the needle family. (Syngnathidae). Named after diver Satomi Onishi, who first caught this funny fish. “Pony” lives at a depth of 15–20 meters in the area of Derawan Island (Indonesia). Sea Horses viviparous - in particular, there were eight developing embryos in the brood pouch of the caught specimen.
Sneezing Pithecus
Rhinopithecus strykeri
The Burmese snub-nosed monkey was discovered in 2010. Due to the strange structure of the nose, the animal sneezes during rain: water pours into the nostrils, and the poor rhinopithecus has to look for shelter, because with such a nose it won’t take long to choke.
Fire cockroach
Lucihormetica luckae
Perhaps this species has already become extinct, because since 1939 no one has come across new specimens. Lived in Ecuador. On the chest there are two luminescent spots of a bacterial nature. This is the only one famous case protective mimicry using bioluminescence (the cockroach disguised itself as poisonous beetles from the genus of fire-bearing click beetles).
Nanofrog
Paedophryne amanuensi
The frog, endemic to Papua New Guinea, was discovered in 2009, and in 2013 it was recognized as the smallest vertebrate animal on Earth (about 7 mm). It is approximately 3,000 times shorter than the largest vertebrate, the blue whale.
Darwin's spider
Caerostris darwini
A small (3 to 6 mm) spider living in Madagascar. Its surface area catcher net(web) can reach almost three square meters. The impact strength of its webs rises up to 520 MJ/m 3, which is twice the impact strength of previously known webs and 10 times higher than the Kevlar material. The spider was found in 2001, but described only in 2009 - this event was timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the publication of Charles Darwin's book "The Origin of Species" (hence its name).
Raccoon in the fog
Bassaricyon neblina
Living in Colombia and Ecuador funny animal- the only thing carnivorous mammal, described in the Western Hemisphere over the past 35 years. Belongs to the genus Olingo of the raccoon family. Species Latin name neblina derived from the Spanish "fog" (in honor of the foggy mountain forests, in which olinguito lives).
Mega instance
Phryganistria tamdaeoensis
This is not the largest stick insect in the world, it is slightly shorter than the record holder (Chan's megastick insect with elongated limbs reaches a length of 60 cm). However, it was found last year in national park right next to the capital of Vietnam, Hanoi, and not at all in the wild jungle.
Unfriendly fly
Semachrysa jade
The jade lacewing, which lives in Malaysia, was discovered in 2012 thanks to an amateur photographer who posted a photo of it on social media. Flickr and asked someone to help identify the species. The unusual veining of the wings makes this fly look like a spider ready to attack.
Strong but light monitor lizard
Varanus bitatawa
This large lizard lives in the central part Philippine island Luzon. It lives in the crowns of trees, reaches two meters in length, but weighs only about 10 kilograms. Peaceful, feeds on fruits and snails. Endangered: local tribes actively hunt this monitor lizard for its meat. The species was described in 2010.
Monkey philosopher
Cercopithecus lomamiensis
It was discovered by biologists already in the 21st century (by the way, this is only the second species of monkey found in Africa over the past 30 years). Locals(Congo) had known it for a long time, called it lesula and ate it with pleasure.
Glowing gastropod
Phyllodesmium acanthorhinum
This one is beautiful gastropod living in the area Japanese Islands, can glow. But what is important to biologists is that in his person they found intermediate between gastropods that feed on hydroid polyps and gastropods that prefer a coral diet.
Skeleton goat
Liropus minusculus
Sea goat creature (Caprellidae) amazes with its phantasmagoric appearance. Lives in Pacific Ocean, near the Californian coast. It is difficult to see without a microscope (body length is 2–3 mm). Described in 2013.
Snake deceiver
Sibon noalamina
This dangerous-looking snake (found in Panama) quite peacefully feeds on snails, slugs and earthworms. It protects itself from enemies by coloring, copying the characteristic combination of light and black rings of very poisonous coral snakes. Described in 2012.
Pancake fish
Halieutichthys intermedius
This creature, resembling a poorly fried lumpy pancake, comes from the bat family of the order monkfish(this may partly explain her non-standard appearance). The species was first discovered in 2010 in the Gulf of Mexico. The pancake fish does not swim so much as crawl along the bottom, relying on its fins. Predator. It hides, burrows into the soil, and lures prey by releasing substances with a strong odor into the water.
Very slow snail
Zospeum tholussum
By land pulmonary snails(discovered in 2010), living in the darkness of Croatian caves, do not need either eyes or pigmentation of the shell (the height of which is no more than 2 mm). Even by snail standards, they are very slow: they move a couple of centimeters per week.
