Will the heat subside in the southern regions of Siberia, forecast for the weekend. The heat throws you into the cold Will the heat subside
“Today’s unstable weather across most of the country is a typical example of what awaits us in the summer,” Roman Vilfand, director of the Hydrometeorological Center, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta. “And in general, other months are expected to be above normal,” he notes. But this does not guarantee uniform temperature conditions. There will be alternating periods of dry and hot weather with cold snaps and rain.
Forecasters expect a fairly warm summer, the temperature background of which will be significantly higher than last year. “If we compare May of last year and this year, the difference in temperature reaches about 8 degrees - a huge difference. And we predict that in June there will be a similar situation,” says the director of the Hydrometeorological Center.
The peak of summer heat should occur in July, although not in all regions. “Traditionally, the hottest month in the continental regions of our country is July. And on the Black Sea coast it is August. For coastal cities, this is a common phenomenon associated with warming up the water,” notes Roman Vilfand.
Hot summers can significantly worsen the situation with forest fires. High fire danger is already predicted in many regions of the northwestern district. “We assess this situation as likely in June as well,” explains Vilfand. In clear weather and white nights, the sun constantly warms the underlying surface, and the soil does not have time to cool. “That is why there is an increased fire danger there,” says the meteorologist.
In the continental part of the country the warmest will be June, and near the sea - August
Vilfand clarifies that in most regions of the European part of the country in temperate latitudes, early fire danger is not predicted. Since the fall, when there was a lot of rain, the soil has been well saturated with moisture. And in March the snow melted well, saturating the soil. “Even if there is a period of dry weather, the soil is saturated with moisture, so there is no early fire danger predicted until mid-June,” Vilfand said.
Summer temperatures in May have already shown their downside. The inclement weather at the end of May is a consequence of the early warmth. “There are many regions where heavy rains, thunderstorms and even hail are expected in May. In the Krasnodar Territory, Karachay-Cherkessia, Rostov Region, Adygea. Very heavy rain has already fallen in Krasnodar and the rains will continue, the wind will increase to 20 meters per second,” - Vilfand continues. Very strong winds are predicted in the southern regions of Khakassia. In Altai it will reach 25 meters per second. “This is already a dangerous phenomenon, when trees break and roofs can be damaged,” the meteorologist noted.
At the same time, frosts are expected in a number of non-northern territories at the end of May. For example, in the Orenburg region, in the south of the Urals. “The temperature at night in these areas can drop by up to 3 degrees,” said Roman Vilfand. Wet snow is forecast in the southern regions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Khakassia. Frosts are also possible in the north of the Volga Federal District on May 25. Saturday night will be very cold for Muscovites, the temperature will drop to 2-7 degrees. Frosts are possible on the ground. There will be noticeable warming on Sunday. The weather will return to summer values again.
Victoria Degtyareva spoke about the weather on Channel 1 from the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.
Question: In the capital region, residents are looking forward to summer. While in Siberia people are hiding from the scorching sun. We will talk with our duty weather forecaster Victoria Degtyareva about a detailed forecast for the Urals and Siberia.
Victoria, good evening! When will the heat subside?
Dmitry, good evening. Indeed, in most of southern Siberia, the temperature was forty degrees for weeks. This coming weekend the heat will subside slightly, but will remain higher than usual. The average daily temperature is about 30 degrees Celsius. Thirty-five degree temperatures will remain only in the Altai Republic, Tuva and Khakassia. The temperature will begin to approach normal due to the displacement of the active cyclonic vortex from the regions of Kazakhstan. A storm warning is in effect in a number of southern regions of Siberia. In the Altai Territory, Novosibirsk Region, Khakassia Tuva, in the central and southern regions of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a whole range of unfavorable weather is expected today, continuing into the weekend: very heavy rains, downpours accompanied by thunderstorms, large hail in places, wind gusts up to 25 m/s. The first wave of intense rain has already occurred in Khakassia. So on June 22, at the Shira weather station, heavy rain of up to 52 mm was observed in 48 minutes, and hail fell with a diameter of 12 mm. The start of next week will be warm but with some rain.
Question: Will such heavy rains improve the fire situation?
Not everywhere, the fire danger class will decrease in the Novosibirsk and Kemerovo regions, in the Altai Territory, and in the north of Altai. In more eastern regions, on the contrary, there is a sharp increase in the number of forest fires, and the situation may only worsen in the coming days. Temperatures are high in the Lake Baikal area. In some areas of the Irkutsk region, 33...38 is expected after noon. and in Transbaikalia the thermometer will rise to 40 degrees. Abnormally hot weather will affect only the western and northern regions of the Irkutsk region; there, with cloudiness of 23..28, showers are possible, and with thunderstorms the wind will increase to 18 m/s.
Question: Showers, thunderstorms, 40 degrees, is there such a variety of weather in the northern half of Siberia?
In the north of Siberia the weather is calmer. In some places there will be light to moderate rain, only on June 25 in the north of Taimyr there will be showers. In some areas there will be a thunderstorm, with maximum wind speeds gusting up to 18 m/s. The average daily temperature is 4-8 degrees higher than the climate norm. In Salekhard it is +18, in Khanty-Mansiysk it is even warmer +25, on Saturday it will become a little cooler. In Evenkia and Turukhansky district +25...+35. But in the island part of Taimyr, negative temperatures are still possible.
Atmospheric fronts will pass through the south of the Urals. Heavy rains are expected mainly in mountainous areas. It will be colder in Bashkortostan and the Perm region, only 16...21. in the Sverdlovsk and Chelyabinsk regions it is about 23, and in the Kurgan region up to 27 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, temperatures everywhere will drop by 3-5 degrees.
St. Petersburg residents continue to be surprised by the hot summer: in July 2018, the temperature reached 30 degrees three times, and the rest of the time it stayed between 27–28 degrees.
"Paper" I learned from the chief weather forecaster of the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological Center, Alexander Kolesov, why there is heat in the city and what weather to expect in August.
Why is it so hot in St. Petersburg this summer?
The reason for the unusually warm weather in St. Petersburg is air masses. According to the chief weather forecaster of St. Petersburg, Alexander Kolesov, they are located not only over our North-Western region, but stretch from Murmansk to the Black and Mediterranean Seas and throughout the entire European territory of Russia.
Now the weather is determined by an anticyclone in the north: it is located on the European territory of Russia and slightly affects Scandinavia. The Murmansk region and Karelia have long been under the anticyclone - there is little precipitation there, the weather is very hot, “even warmer than in the south of Russia,” says Kolesov. There is a cyclone in the south of the country, so there are heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Alexander Kolesov
It is clear that this average temperature is difficult for consumers to perceive. Everyone knows that during the day there should be so much and at night so much. A standard for maximum temperatures is never set because it can depend on a lot of things. For us, the maximum usual temperature is about 25 degrees. What is higher is already warm weather, but not an abnormally hot period and not reaching any extremes.
Is such a hot summer in St. Petersburg an anomaly?
As Kolesov explains, abnormally hot weather is considered when for five days the average daily temperature is 7 degrees above normal. The standards are different everywhere, the St. Petersburg one is also relevant for the European territory of Russia, Murmansk, Moscow and some southern cities.
Alexander Kolesov, chief weather forecaster of the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological Center:
Now in St. Petersburg and in the Leningrad region we did not exceed the norm. Yes, there were a few warmer days reaching more than 7 degrees [above normal], but these were isolated days. In St. Petersburg, the temperature reached 30 degrees for only three days; the rest of the time it was cooler - 27–28 degrees.
Kolesov says that during this summer the weather did not reach a single extreme, that is, the maximum temperature during the day has not yet exceeded the temperature recorded during the entire period of observation.
What temperature is normal for St. Petersburg?
Now, according to Kolesov, the norm for St. Petersburg is 18 degrees, but “at the moment we are at the peak of the temperature norm.” The forecaster says that further it will begin to decrease - to 17.8 degrees.
According to weather forecasters, hot weather will continue in St. Petersburg indefinitely. The weather pattern remains the same, it continues to be determined by the anticyclone, and there is practically no precipitation. The coming Friday, Saturday and Sunday - July 27–29 - will be very hot. According to Kolesov, now, perhaps, conditions are being created for abnormally hot weather, but it is unknown whether the extremes will be broken.
When can we expect cool weather?
Alexander Kolesov, chief weather forecaster of the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological Center:
I can’t answer this question yet. The first week of August will be quite hot. What will happen next is not yet clear; there are no such calculations yet.
The weather forecaster believes that it should get colder by the middle of the month. But the situation may change.
What summer is typical for St. Petersburg?
Kolesov says that the hottest July on record was 2010. And only in the last three years has July been cool: in 2015 there was a negative anomaly, in 2016 there was a lot of rain, although the temperature was close to normal, and in 2017 there was cool weather again with a negative anomaly.
Alexander Kolesov, chief weather forecaster of the St. Petersburg Hydrometeorological Center:
Over the past three years we have had a spike in temperature. But the warmth began in the second decade: the first decade turned out to have a negative anomaly, it was cold for our city. Now this warm weather covers up the cold that was at the beginning of the month. But the results need to be summed up when the month and summer ends. Now the period of hot weather is short - only 10 days.
Kolesov explains that such contrasts are inherent in our northern region: cold air masses can quickly arrive with northerly winds. But then the synoptic situation changes: southern and southeastern winds set in - and it becomes as warm as this July.
Will you feel better in the heat if you sit under a fan, what symptoms should you pay attention to in such weather, and should you drink coffee and cold alcoholic cocktails? , how heat affects health and what to eat and drink to feel better.
In the European part of Russia, the heat is beginning to subside: in St. Petersburg it is already 24-25 degrees instead of the thirty-degree heat. Will the heat leave other regions of the country? The presenters of "Morning of Russia" asked the leading specialist of the FOBOS Weather Center Vadim Zavodchenkov about this.
According to him, in most regions in the European part of the country the heat will really weaken - the temperature will drop everywhere. The heat has noticeably worsened the environmental situation in the capital region, but now the situation will improve. “Anticyclonic processes contribute to the accumulation of harmful impurities in the ground layer of the atmosphere, but the rains that we expect today will purify the air of the metropolis,” the forecaster said.
A thunderstorm front has already begun to break through into the center of the country today. It will determine the course of weather processes over the weekend. The temperature will begin to fall within the climatic norm: in the north of the region 22-27 degrees, in the Central Black Earth Region and in the south - from 27 to 32.
The most difficult situation has developed in the Volga region: it is very hot, very dry and there are forest fires. The situation in the Komi Republic is difficult, but it will improve there. Saturday in the south of the European territory of Russia is expected to be very sunny and hot: 33-38 degrees here, and in the lower reaches of the Volga - from 38 to 43. Local showers, thunderstorms and a drop in temperature are expected on Sunday: in the Kuban 30-35 degrees, in the lower reaches of the Volga and Don - 33-38.
In the middle Volga, Saturday will also be hot, without rain. Here from 31 to 36 degrees. On Sunday there will be showers and thunderstorms and the temperature will drop by 4-5 degrees on average.
In the north of the European territory of the country, the weather will be contrasting: the north and north-west of the region will be covered by the Arctic anticyclone. Here, on Saturday, the rains will begin to subside, and in the southern part, showers with thunderstorms will still persist. The temperature regime is just as contrasting: in the north – the temperature drops to 18-23 degrees, in the Novgorod region and the Pskov region – 21-26 with showers and thunderstorms.
Residents of the Urals will be unlucky: a cyclone is breaking through here, so the weekend will be rainy. On Saturday it is still warm - 20-25 degrees, and in the south of the region - 30. On Sunday the temperature will drop to 18-23. This cyclone will pump very warm air masses from Central Asia to the south of Siberia. As a result, there are localized showers, thunderstorms in places and rising temperatures. In the south of Western Siberia - 26-31, in the south of Eastern Siberia 21-26.
In the Far East, the weather is typical for this period: a humid monsoon will prevail, the coast will be covered with a veil of drizzling fog, the temperature will be 18-23 degrees. In continental areas there are local showers and thunderstorms, but it is also much warmer, 28-33 degrees.
Speaking about whether we should expect temperature records in August, Vadim Zavodchenkov noted that there will no longer be such heat, but short-term heat waves are still expected; there will be one or two cases during the month.
In August 2018, the summer heat in Moscow will subside. Forecasters have compiled a weather forecast for August this year, according to which the first days of the month will still be hot, and by mid-August the temperature will drop. The weather will be cool in the middle of the month, but by the beginning of September it will become warm again.
In the coming days of August, the summer heat in Moscow will subside
In 2018, summer in the capital was very hot. During the summer season in Moscow and the region, cases of people becoming ill due to high temperatures became more frequent. There have been cases of increased blood pressure, sunstroke, heatstroke, and loss of consciousness due to prolonged exposure to the sun.
Forecasters note that the summer heat will not subside yet for the first seven days of August: the temperature will remain the same, despite the increase in precipitation. Also, experts promise that there will be no strong winds this month and no sudden weather changes are expected. The temperature will gradually decrease and by the middle of the month will reach the maximum comfortable level for humans - from +23 to +25 degrees. Forecasters recommend that Muscovites be more attentive to weather conditions: very often such weather changes, although not drastic, are the cause of colds.
At first, the summer heat in Moscow will continue to be felt
Forecasters predict continued high temperatures for the first days of August. On average, the air temperature in the shade will reach from +25 to +29 degrees. From August 5, it will rain for several days, after which the heat will drop to +23 - +25 degrees Celsius in the sun.
Starting from August 15, when Lent begins, air temperatures will become even lower and may drop to +20 degrees during the daytime. By this time the rains will stop, but there will be a slight wind. At night, frosts up to +10 degrees Celsius are expected.
The most favorable time for planting seasonal crops will be mid-August: the ideal ratio of air temperature and precipitation will have a very good effect on yield indicators. In addition, specialist observations show that reducing heat increases the productivity of citizens: general well-being improves, the air becomes thinner and it becomes easier to breathe.
By the end of the month it will start raining again. Forecasters predict slight frosts at night, but reassure gardeners that there should not be a critical temperature that can damage the growth and fertility of garden crops.
By September, according to experts, warm weather should return again. The air temperature will be as comfortable as possible for the start of the new school year.
