The most powerful tropical cyclone in history raged in the ill-fated autumn of 1780 in the Caribbean archipelago. According to the archives, the hurricane claimed 22 thousand lives, but we can safely say that the number of victims who were not included in the chronicles was many times higher. San Callisto raged from the island of Newfoundland to Barbados, swept over Haiti, playfully sweeping 95% of all buildings into the ocean. Eyewitnesses claimed that the wind, whose speed reached 350 km/h, tore bark from tree trunks before knocking them down. A wave of 7-8 meters in height, raised by the hurricane, completed the work of San Callisto, destroying everything else that the typhoon spared.
The storm that rose into the sea sank many ships both in ports and away from the coast. The storm smashed into pieces part of the English and French flotillas that took an active part in civil war, which was being conducted in the USA at that time.

On November 8, 2013, a super typhoon, carrying winds of 315 km/h (with isolated gusts of up to 379 km/h), raised waves up to 5 meters high, which hit the Philippines. The hurricane came with east coast Samar Islands and began a campaign bringing death and destruction across central part countries. More than 8,000 dead and missing are known. According to the UN, more than 11 million people were affected by the typhoon, mainly residents of the Philippines and Vietnam.
