The best weapon in the zombie apocalypse. Apocalypse combat gadgets "Z"
To survive the apocalypse you have to be able to defend yourself. The dust will settle zombie will come out of their shacks. It's time.
If you intend hunt zombies, consider two points:
- They are much slower, which means you need to act quickly. Anything that can be used to quickly hit will do.
- They are most often. Use killing weapon from some distance and will not have to fight the group in close combat.
Both points will give you some advantage if you can choose the right one weapon. Take as many as possible from the list to make a choice type of battle was in your hands (depending on the situation).
Eighth place - baseball bat
Good old baseball bat- excellent weapon against zombies, if you didn’t find something cooler. It will spoil them, and if you swing too hard... Perfect for zombies: by stunning some you can move on.
If bits If you don't end up with yourself, a thick stick-club will do just as well. And if you add a little barbed wire and nails, you’ll deal with zombie in the blink of an eye!
Seventh - mace
Your usual one mace or with a chain, it will come in handy in a pinch. Not as effective as an ax or knife, as it requires each blow to be struck. Much slower than anyone else weapons, but compensates for the low speed by causing each hit to do more damage with it to the creatures.
In addition, if required weapon, but you couldn’t find another, you can do mace out of practically nothing. Just take a thick log, wrap it in rusty metal or hammer in a few. The toy is ready. Suitable if there is no other choice and you need to get rid of zombie.
Sixth - sword
A great weapon to wield. Well-placed blows can cause a lot of damage and quickly take out creature out of order. in good hands will be the best melee weapon during apocalypse.
However, use a sword against zombies is not as simple as it seems. If you don't know how to handle it, it may get stuck. undead- you will be left without weapons and... Don't choose a sword as your main weapon if you don't know how to use it.
Fifth - ax
Another great weapon against zombies, like the “knife” mentioned above. Can apply fatal blows at close range so quickly that zombie, having no chance, to the ground. A magical way to get out of battle alive.
Just like knives, most people use two axes in battle: one in each hand, which also zombie. You can also throw an ax from a good distance to take them out before they get close. The only time will kill every time.
The ax can also be used to cut down trees and firewood. This is another advantage of this weapon, allowing stay alive.
Fourth - knives
Great weapon to start a fight against zombies: lightweight, does not take up much space and can be applied. If you're wielding a knife, aim for vital organs and move quickly. Give a few injections before these creatures will come at you.
Most people use one in each hand, which gives double damage in the same amount of time. When you master it, you will be able to carry several knives on your belt and throw them at enemy to cause damage and in .
The great thing is that they fit perfectly into the picture survival in the apocalypse. You can use it for skinning, cutting and other survival activities. An excellent tool for both defense and defense.
Third place - grenades
They will be difficult to find during the apocalypse, but they are worth it. Grenades are the best choice if you are considering zombie hunting in large quantities. If you manage to concentrate them, then a single grenade can kill more than 50 at once creatures.
From military depots and other places where you can find . And go there when the time comes to go against zombies.
Second place - bow or crossbow
A great ranged weapon for many reasons: it does a ton of damage and can kill zombie if you
Cobblestones, stones, bricks etc. – a very good throwing weapon that can be found almost everywhere. To use it, the main thing is to have enough strength to throw it so that it hits the zombie’s head. But even if you don’t have enough strength, you can still use it by throwing them from buildings onto the heads of zombies; all visitors should have enough strength for this.
Slingshot– There is no way to use a slingshot as a weapon, since even if you hit a zombie’s eye, the most you can achieve with this is to knock it out, and for zombies this is nothing. You can use a slingshot to attract single zombies (if you're lucky, you should try it), it's much easier to deal with a single zombie.
Sling, shuriken, throwing knives– can put zombies to rest, but require a lot of experience. If you don’t have such experience, don’t try to hit zombies with such weapons.
Bows– a beginner will be very lucky if he hits the head, but still this weapon can be used to destroy zombies. Shoot with burning steras - if you hit a zombie, not just one zombie, but a whole crowd may burn, because even if by some miracle they realize that it is dangerous, they will not be able to put it out. A side effect is that zombies can set fire not only to other zombies, but also to start a fire that will lead to the destruction of your shelter...
Crossbows– the power and accuracy of this weapon are very high. An arrow (bolt) fired by such a weapon can penetrate the skull of a target located at a distance of 400 meters. This weapon is called "the best silent killer." A crossbow is a sniper's weapon, not intended to stop a crowd, unless there are also a crowd of such snipers: D . An example of using a crossbow can be seen in the title “The Walking Dead”, but in order to handle it like this you need to train long and tediously...
Firearms
If you have a firearm (preferably with a silencer) with plenty of ammo, you will be more than a match for the zombie army. The main thing is to monitor its condition and keep it charged. But he remembers that there is no ideal weapon, each is intended for its own situation. The choice should depend on whether you are attacking, defending or retreating, how many people are in your group and what the battlefield is like. It is best for the group to have all types of weapons.
The use of any firearm requires theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Otherwise, it may turn out that you will not be able to make a shot, and even if you can, most likely you will not hit. That is, it will not be possible to master such a weapon at a level that will be enough to hit the head, and heroes in books and films are heroes, otherwise it would not be interesting. I will not repeat this when describing each type of firearm...
Gun- a light weapon that is best used as an additional weapon, since it is almost impossible to hit a zombie’s head from afar, not counting specialists. Pistols will be useful in extreme situations; if you are captured, then a pistol can save your life.
Shotgun– it is better to use it during retreat, as there is a stopping effect. Even if you have a shot that won't penetrate a zombie's skull, it will delay it. Using a shotgun at long and medium ranges will waste ammo. The disadvantage is that the ammunition is large and takes up a lot of space.
Rifle– a good accurate weapon that is also easy to use – the best choice for a beginner. There are self-loading and sliding/folding bolt versions. Self-loading ones are very good at engaging multiple targets. For beginners, it is better to use non-automatic rifles, otherwise most of the ammunition may go to waste.
Assault rifle (automatic)– this weapon has a high range and speed of destruction. Against zombies, accuracy is important, but speed can play a cruel joke on you, because out of fright you can spend all the ammunition on one zombie... An assault rifle can be installed on single, but who stops from “rock and roll” in case of fear or excitement ?
Submachine gun– high rate of fire, but low accuracy at a long distance, which means you have to let zombies get closer, which can lead to negative consequences. In turn, the rate of fire can lead to wasteful use of ammunition.
Machine gun– this weapon fires a very large number of shots in a period of time with low accuracy. Against people, of course, this is a very good weapon, but against zombies this is not so, because in order to kill a zombie he needs to hit the head. To half-fall from a machine gun into a zombie's head, you need to spend a large amount of ammunition - it is better to use a rifle for this. You can tell that by the crowd? There are a lot of heads there and I mow them down! In fact, nothing will work out for you, since all the people are of different heights and you will simply injure most of the zombies! Even if the wounds are in the form of severed arms or legs, zombies will remain very dangerous and even in some cases become more dangerous, since crawling zombies are harder to notice. Machine guns can be used to slow down the crowd of the dead, but after that they should be finished off with the help of other weapons.
And remember If possible, try to choose weapons of the same caliber. If one weapon fails, its cartridges can be used in another...
Other weapons
Grenades, bombs, artillery and other exploding weapons - are not very effective against zombies; they can be used to slow down zombies, but at the same time turn them from noticeable to less noticeable. When used in a large concentration, it will still have the desired effect, but can you imagine how you will carry this amount? Explosive weapons can be used in the form of tripwires, mines, etc. for early warning.
Fire(flamethrowers, molotov cocktails, incendiary arrows) - one of the most effective ways to destroy crowds of zombies. At the same time, it will not only completely calm down not to live, but will also destroy most of the infection. But you need to use such a weapon with caution, because the fire is not selective and burns everything that can burn, as a result of which the fire can turn from a protector into a deadly threat.
Acid– powerful acids are very effective against zombies, but it should be used wisely and you will need a lot of it. Due to the fact that it does not immediately dissolve bones and flesh, it is best used as a means of cleaning the battlefield.
Poisons- in most cases they are not effective against zombies, so it is not worth wasting your time on it.
Electric current– can be used to stun or paralyze zombies, but not with standard stun guns; zombies will need devices twice as powerful. The result can be fatal only in extreme cases, when the zombie’s brain is completely burned.
And remember, no matter what weapon you choose, a simple knife or a semi-automatic rifle, it should become an extension of your body. Practice as often as possible. If there are courses, be sure to sign up. Classes with qualified instructors will save a huge amount of time and effort.
A visual use of weapons against zombies can be done either with. But remember, the heroes of these works in most cases have unrealistic luck and or professional skills.
Reading the article will take: 6 min. There is little that can test the strength of modern civilization like a zombie invasion - this, in any case, is taught by apocalyptic thrillers, action films and various zombie-themed games. The main fear of a situation in the spirit of the series “Walking” is associated not with the fact that you could easily turn out to be lunch for a crowd of walking blind people - with the feeling of losing everything at once. The world, previously not the best, but much calmer, bares its grin, aiming for meat - and the role of meat is assigned... Let's talk about an effective weapon that... no, will not save hundreds of lives, but will allow you to survive in zombie reality yourself.
Apocalypse "Z"
Ranged Weapons. Earth's gunsmiths have developed a lot of firearms - rifles of various calibers, shotguns, machine guns, machine guns, pistols - it won't be difficult to get hold of this stuff in a post-apocalyptic environment. But the use of “fire sticks” entails a more serious problem - it makes the shooter extremely popular with zombies! According to zombie horror stories, the walking dead perceive loud noises in a similar way to a gong calling them to dinner. We also take into account the limited supply of cartridges, the potential for misfires and jamming of the bolt mechanism of the weapon in the absence of cleaning and lubrication, add to everything the exponentially growing number of zombies due to indiscriminate firing - voila, having been partially eaten, you join the “friendly” ranks of the zombie community.
If your plans were like this from the beginning, no question, firearms will do! But with another interest, namely the all-consuming thirst for life in the basic human configuration, a special weapon is required for remote shooting of “former people” - as silent as possible.
The first thing that comes to mind is a firearm, a long or short barrel with a silencer. You point it at the skull of the restless blind man, press your finger on the trigger, and after the sound “bam,” the eternally hungry zombie carcass plops to the ground. In theory and in the movies, everything is like this, but in apocalyptic reality... not quite. Firstly, the sound of a shot passed through a silencer is quite loud - like an empty eggplant hitting a sofa. Secondly, the muffler is a consumable item and needs to be replaced after several dozen shots. Thirdly, it is not possible to get a high-quality muffler of a suitable diameter and cut the end of the barrel for it (how else can you attach it without it falling off?) - in the complete absence of Amazon and e-bay, as well as plumbing equipment and power supplies.
Conclusion: Thundersticks with a silencer are not an option.
However, it’s not so easy to push the attractiveness of barrel-bullet weapons out of your imagination - even if firearms are only suitable for a backup option, there are pneumatic analogues! And if you can hunt animals with them, then why not use them against zombies? After all, pneumatic guns that develop muzzle energy of over 25 J become serious weapons with supersonic bullet speeds! This is true, but getting the right bullets is problem number one (zombie apocalypse!). Problem number two is the need to increase gas pressure in the pneumatic cylinder of the weapon. You either need to connect a replaceable cartridge with compressed carbon dioxide, or raise the pressure with a bicycle pump - shoot once, screw on the pump nipple and pump, nervously looking around in search of zombies. Did you imagine this picture? Not impressed? Well, this is the conclusion - pneumatics don't roll.
Crossbow. A reliable and silent ranged weapon in the world of the “Z” apocalypse, again, according to the writers and directors of “The Walking.” It retains destructive power at a distance of up to approximately 80 m; reloading, if trained, takes 15-20 seconds; after the next fight with zombies, you can collect bolts (that’s what crossbow arrows are called) from half-decomposed bodies. Let's study the design of crossbows.
There are three known types: recursive, block and pneumatic. Models of the latest design of crossbows have the same advantages and disadvantages as barreled pneumatic weapons, and therefore are not suitable for survival in the world of zombies.
Recurve crossbow– a classic design, which is a combination of a bow and a stock with a butt. It is lighter than its block version, easy to handle, consists of a small number of parts and is therefore highly reliable (the more complex the design, the more problems due to wear and tear of its components). It is easier to hit the target with a recurve crossbow; when the bowstring is worn, it is relatively easier to replace it - the old one is removed, the arcs are bent and a new bowstring (if there is one) is attached to their ends. The strike power of a recurve crossbow can be adjusted to maximum by spreading the arcs wider, but this will cause difficulty in pulling the bowstring - you shouldn’t get too carried away with this matter. The disadvantages of recurves include significant recoil, a short killing distance (no more than 50 m) and a fairly loud shot sound.
Compound crossbow First of all, it differs from the recursive one by the presence of blocks on the bowstring placement mechanism. Thanks to its complex design, the spread of the arcs is smaller, which means it is easier to run away with it - it will not cling to branches and protruding elements of buildings. Its trigger mechanism will last longer than that of a recurve one - with equal shot power for both models, the load on the trigger of a block crossbow will be less. Before firing, the bowstring of a compound crossbow is tightened by hand, and cocking a classic crossbow requires a special device. Despite the smaller width of the arc arms, the flight speed of a bolt fired from a block crossbow is higher than that of a recurve crossbow, the “projectile” flies further and hits better. It is also worth noting less noise when fired and low recoil. However, if the bowstring of a crossbow breaks, the weapon will turn into an inconvenient club - installing a new bowstring on most block models is only possible on a special machine. For example, crossbow models produced by the Russian company Interloper allow continuous replacement of the bowstring (manually).
Finally, a standard model of a high-quality recurve crossbow costs almost half as much as a compound crossbow - about $700 versus $1,300. It turns out that you won’t be able to survive during a zombie apocalypse with only one crossbow and 10-20 bolt arrows - you need a secret warehouse with spare parts and constantly carrying a spare bowstring with you (better than several, you never know).
Melee Weapons. Fists, no matter how strong and large they are, are not suitable for confronting toothy zombies - one bite and you join the main cast of Zombieland. In principle, any oblong object with a higher density than a damaged skull will work against zombies. There is no point in stunning the walking carrion - you need to destroy the remnants of its brain. I’m somehow not sure about the baseball bat, but a meter-long fragment of 16 mm reinforcement is ideal! And no piercing blows, only chopping, and with a good swing. But in a shoulder sheath it is more interesting to carry not a piece of reinforcement, but something more brutal - for example, a Japanese samurai sword.
Katana. Popular melee weapons from Japanese anime, samurai films and Tarantino's Kill Bill series. In addition, Michonne from “The Walking” has such a sword and she controls it quite deftly! A real katana is a good weapon, even excellent, but only in the hands of an experienced swordsman who knows the basics of kenjutsu techniques, i.e. applying cutting blows at an angle to the target of attack. If you don’t know how to use such a sword, then you need to start with the wooden version, in no case with a real weapon - in the world of zombies there is an excellent chance to become a zombie yourself, with a couple of light swings of the katana, cutting off valuable vital organs like arms or legs (fingers It’s possible – it’s not so critical if you have a first aid kit with bandages, antibiotics and painkillers). Another trick is that the katana is designed for fighting with two hands; it is difficult to hold it in one because of the light and small pommel - the center of gravity of the Japanese sword is located closer to the tip. Effectively waving it with one hand, cutting zombies right and left is an unrealistic task.
Chinese katana - similar to the real one, but...
Katana swords are produced today not only in Japan, but also in China and South Korea. They are cheaper than Japanese ones, but their combat characteristics are significantly lower. A real katana, whose multilayer blade consists of two types of steel - hard on the outside and soft on the inside - is forged by a master over several months. Its blade has a hardness of 62 HRS on the Rockwell scale, so it stays sharp for a long time and allows you to shred zombies for weeks before the next sharpening and polishing. And the Chinese version of the blade, obtained by rolling tool steel, even with a hardness of 56 HRS, is not suitable for the role of a zombie shredder - it quickly becomes dull and can even crack. But here, future tireless fighter from the “Z” apocalypse, a financial ambush awaits you - an authentic Japanese katana is damn expensive, at least $4000-5000. I recommend not to bother and focus on the reinforcement baton.
As a regular viewer of the series “The Walking,” I follow with interest the development of the plot of each new season, although I pay more attention to the personal relationships of the characters than to the zombie fighting scenes. However, I must admit the precision to detail in every zombie shown in the series - scary, even creepy. This guide to anti-zombie weapons, despite the ironic form of presentation, is quite functional and if Apocalypse “Z” happens in real life, you can safely use the information for self-defense from zombies
In anticipation of the end of the world, people are fortifying their homes and stocking up on weapons. Even if no end of the world happens, it will still be useful. In addition, television with joyful enthusiasm replicates stories about the zombie apocalypse, which causes a somewhat unhealthy delight among the population. Here, for example, is a rating of the best weapons against the walking dead, collected around the world.
