But now squid is sold in any store, both frozen and canned, and it has become much easier to prepare a delicious salad with squid for the holiday table. Why, now you can eat salads with squid almost any day.
Usually, the ingredients for squid salads are quite simple; we use our favorite and most common foods: vegetables, eggs, cheese, cereals, herbs. Squid salad can be hearty with potatoes or rice, or completely light and dietary with fresh vegetables and green lettuce.
This salad can rightfully be considered a dietary dish, because the meat of this sea creature is not fatty, rich in nutrients and vitamins and contains a large amount of easily digestible protein. Such salads are not contraindicated even for children. The only reason not to eat them can only be an allergy, but it is quite rare.
Squid meat is not difficult to prepare; it usually comes to our table frozen; it is less common to find fresh, unless you are a happy resident of the sea coast. Usually squid is cooked according to the rules for cooking other sea creatures. In order for the squid meat to remain soft and tender, it must be cooked for no more than 5 minutes in boiling water. The longer you cook the squid, the tougher and rubberier it becomes.
First of all, the squid must be cleaned of film. It can be easily removed if the carcass is first doused with hot water and then cold. Then the skin is removed almost in one piece and almost without effort. If there is a dorsal chord inside, then it must be pulled out. The finished squid carcass goes to an empty bag.
For cooking, it is best to boil salted water in a saucepan and lower the squid there for five minutes. After that, take it out immediately. An alternative to this method is to place the squid in boiling water, but remove the pan from the stove. Cool boiling water will be enough for the squid to cook without active boiling. It is very tender and cooks extremely quickly.
Canned squid is even less hassle. They are ready to eat and properly cooked, so they are always quite soft and tasty.

A simple and delicious salad with squid, cheese and pickled cucumbers
This squid salad is prepared in just a few minutes. Especially if you use canned squid and there is no need to waste time cooking it. This salad is simple, but tasty, so it will suit both the holiday table and on ordinary days. The festive version just needs to be decorated a little and a delicious squid salad will complement the holiday menu.
You will need:
- squid (boiled or canned) - 300 grams,
- pickled cucumbers - 2-3 pcs,
- hard cheese - 150 grams,
- mayonnaise for dressing,
- olives, herbs, cucumbers for decoration.
Preparation:
1. Boil the squid in advance and do not forget to cool it as soon as you remove it from the hot water. Prepare the rest of the ingredients.
2. Cut the squid into small strips.
3. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater. Use your favorite type of cheese that you like the taste of.

When cooking squid, pour a lot of water into the pan. The more water there is, the faster the water will boil after you lower the carcasses into the water.
1. Cut the squid into strips.

How to cook squid
Ingredients:
- Medium squid – 4 carcasses
- Onion - 2 large heads
- Sour cream - 150 g.

Preparation:
1. Thaw the squid carcasses if you have them frozen. You can defrost it a little and start boiling it if you are in a hurry, but it is better to place the carcasses in the refrigerator in advance and let them defrost completely.
2. Place water in a saucepan on the stove and bring to a boil.
Please note that the more water, the faster it will boil again when you lower the squid into it. But I don’t always wait for the water to boil for the second time, after lowering the squid into it, but take it out as soon as the carcasses are inflated and rounded.
3. The water has boiled, throw into it a few black peppercorns, a couple of allspice peas, salt, about half a teaspoon per 1 liter of water, a couple of bay leaves. Let it boil for another 5 minutes with spices.
4. Place the squid in boiling water. If you don’t have much water, and the squid is frozen, lower it one carcass at a time. Bring to a boil, the carcasses are rounded, remove. And so on all the carcasses. Please note that here we are putting unpeeled squid into the water. This is one of the cooking methods that many people use. It is the simplest and easiest. But if you want your squid to be white and not pink, it is better to remove the skin from a cold one without pouring boiling water over it.
5. Now you need to peel the skin. Under a running stream of water, we seem to “wash” the carcasses. The skin comes off very easily.
6. Remove the entrails, chords (this is the name of the hard cartilaginous plate running along the ridge of the carcass).
7. Chop the onion quite coarsely.
8. Heat the frying pan and pour a little vegetable oil.
9. Place the onion in heated oil and fry until golden brown. Well, in general, whoever likes it. Some people don't like fried onions. You can fry it a little.
10. Cut the squid into rings, half a centimeter thick, and then cut the rings in half. You can cut the carcasses lengthwise into halves and then cut into strips. See what is more convenient for you.
11. Place the squid in the frying pan with the onions.
12. Season the squid with onions, sour cream, mix everything and add pepper. Close the lid and leave to simmer for 5 minutes.
13. At the end of stewing, sprinkle with a little dill (not for everyone). Mix everything. Turn off the stove.

- Boiled squids - 4-5 pcs.
- Crab sticks - 5 pcs.
- Onion - 2-3 heads
- Garlic - 3-5 cloves
- Boiled eggs - 4 pcs.

- Lemon - 1/4-1/2 pcs.
- Smoked salmon - 4 small pieces
- Soy sauce - 1-2 tbsp.

Preparation:
1. Roll the crab sticks into plates and place them on top of each other.

3. Place one half on top of the other and cut into very small strips.
4. Place in a deep container (for us it’s a pan).
5. Take boiled, peeled squid and cut off the tails.
6. Cut the carcasses into the same small strips. We also cut the tails into small strips. Many people love tails even more than carcasses. They are a little stiffer and sort of crunch. We send the chopped squid to the chopsticks and mix.
7. Cut the onion into small strips and also place it in a container with the chopsticks. Mix.
8. Cut the eggs around the circumference, cutting the white and leaving the yolk intact. Separate and set aside the yolk separately.
9. Cut the white into strips, as small as possible and also put it in the pan.
10. Cut the cucumber into 3-4 parts crosswise, cut each part into thin slices lengthwise. We stack the plates on top of each other and cut them into small strips.
11. Place in a saucepan. If you don’t want a lot of liquid from the cucumbers, place them first on a paper towel, and when they have drained a little, put them in a saucepan.
12. Take half an avocado, use a spoon to remove all the pulp, the second way is to simply peel the avocado with a knife like a potato, but this way is worse, because with a spoon you can only take out the pulp, and the hard part will remain. Place the pulp in a blender glass.
13. Squeeze a quarter or half of a lemon into a glass with avocado. Who likes what kind of acid? Here we cut the onion into large pieces, add 3-5 cloves of garlic, again to taste, and add smoked fish.
14. Take an immersion blender and beat the whole mass.

Tip: Prepare this salad several hours before serving. The squid and crab sticks will be soaked, and the cucumbers will release their juice. All this works for the taste of the salad.

This dish is prepared quickly and looks very elegant and festive. And since squid is still not an everyday ingredient, the recipe for this salad can be called a holiday one.
Ingredients:
- squid - 200 gr.
- mix of different lettuce leaves - 150 gr.
- tomato - 1 pc.
- Quail eggs - 4 pcs.
- soy sauce - 1 tbsp. l.
For the sauce:
- vegetable oil - 2 tbsp. l.
- lemon juice - 1 tbsp. l.
- mustard - 1 tsp.
- chicken egg yolks - 2 pcs.
- soy sauce - 1 tsp.
- seasoning for fish - a pinch
- Let's start preparing this dish with the sauce. Separate the chicken whites from the yolks; we only need the yolks. Mix them with mustard, lemon juice, soy sauce, fish seasonings and vegetable oil.
It’s very tasty to add a clove of garlic to salad sauce, then the salad will turn out more piquant.
2. Clean the squid from films and ridges and cut into thin strips. Fry them in a frying pan in vegetable oil, add soy sauce and let it evaporate a little. The total cooking time for squid should not exceed 1.5 minutes.
3. Place lettuce leaves in a deep bowl. You can pick them with your hands arbitrarily, as you like - larger or smaller.
4. Add sliced tomato and boiled quail eggs. Moreover, 2 eggs will go into the salad, and 2 - as a decoration.

Ingredients:
- squid - 200 gr.
- red caviar - 100 gr.
- potatoes - 2-3 pcs.
- chicken eggs - 3 pcs.
- hard cheese - 150 gr.
- slice of cheese for decoration
- dill - 30 gr.
- mayonnaise
- Boil the potatoes. Let them cool. Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater and place them in the first layer of salad. Potatoes can be slightly salted. A mayonnaise net will go on top of the potatoes.
Less mayonnaise is consumed if it is used to cover layers of salad in the form of a mesh. And it’s convenient to make the mesh using mayonnaise from a bag.
2. Clean the squid from films and boil in salted water for 1.5 - 2 minutes. After they have cooled, cut the squid into strips and lay them in a second layer. We again make a mesh of mayonnaise on top.
3. We also boil the eggs, after they have cooled, we separate the whites from the yolks. The third layer of salad should be grated whites.
4. Grate the cheese on a coarse grater and cover it again with the mayonnaise mesh.
5. Grate the yolks on a fine grater and sprinkle on top of the salad.
6. Now we begin to decorate our salad. We will need 1 or 2 slices of cheese for sandwiches. Using a scalloped roller, cut long carved strips of cheese and place them along the length of the salad to form squares.
7. Place red caviar in these squares, and cover the base of the salad near the plate with finely chopped dill.

- 600 g fresh squid
- 5 boiled eggs
- 500 g frozen shrimp
- Salt and mayonnaise
1. Fill the container with shrimp with boiling water.
2. Clean the carcasses, pour boiling water over them and wait a couple of minutes. At high temperatures, the protein will already be cooked.
3. Peel 500 grams of shrimp and grate the eggs into smaller pieces.
4. We cut the squid carcasses into rings, but you can simply chop them finely.
5. We also chop the shrimp.
After you have mixed the ingredients, add a little salt to the salad, because almost all products come bland.

Can you imagine there are so many useful things here: pure protein and plant fibers. I use a little mayonnaise, just to lubricate the salad a little, and the rest comes from tomato juice.

And immediately transfer them with cutlery to cold water.
Due to a sharp change in temperature, the film comes off almost on its own, we get rid of it and wash the already cleaned carcasses.
Now you need to remove the spine, which is located inside the carcass itself. To do this, we probe inside with our fingers and if we find something resembling cartilage there, we remove it.
The method I propose will be without cooking, but just pour boiling water over the top of the carcass and keep them like that for one minute.
This method is good because the meat of this seafood will not be overcooked and will turn out soft and suitable for further use.
We repeat the procedure one more time. And all that remains is to remove a thin film from them, as shown in the photo.

This seafood makes very tasty and satisfying salads; they complement the taste of other products well. Let them be fresh, boiled, canned or pickled vegetables. Season it with olive oil or mayonnaise. - Large squid carcasses - 2 pcs.

- Crab sticks – 200 gr

- chicken egg - 4 pieces
- greens - 1 bunch
- mayonnaise - to taste
- hard cheese - 100 gr
Cooking method:
To prepare this dish, we first need to defrost the crab sticks, remove their packaging and cut into small pieces.
Now open a can of canned corn (I chose soft varieties) and remove it from there into a deep cup.
Remove the shells from hard-boiled eggs and finely chop them.
All that remains is to combine all the ingredients in a cup, add salt and pepper, add mayonnaise and mix thoroughly.

In this recipe I use hot smoked squid bought in a store (you can take fresh ones and boil them), cut them into small pieces.
Grate the boiled eggs on a coarse grater.
Boil the shrimp in salted water for 1-1.5 minutes, to which add one teaspoon of lemon juice.
Now in a dry salad bowl we combine all the ingredients: squid, followed by shrimp, fried champignons with onions, grated eggs and two or three tablespoons of corn.
Season with salt and pepper, season with olive oil (or mayonnaise) and mix thoroughly.
Our dish is ready, eat to your health.
Squid salad with egg and cheese and garlic
This recipe is surprisingly simple, and can be spiced up with garlic or, for example, mustard. The dressing for it can be anything - from mayonnaise to cream sauce.
Ingredients:
- Squid – 1 kg
- processed cheese - 100 gr
- chicken egg - 2 pcs
- garlic - 2 cloves
- mayonnaise - 2 tbsp. spoons
- greens - to taste.
Cooking method:
Place the seafood carcasses in boiling water and cook over low heat for 2-3 minutes.
Then we take it out, cool it and cut it into thin rings.
Grate the boiled egg and cheese on a coarse grater.
Wash the greens, dry them and finely chop them.
Now put the main seafood, cheese, eggs, herbs in a bowl, squeeze out the garlic and add mayonnaise.
Mix everything well.
The dish is ready.
Diet squid salad without mayonnaise
Very light, tasty and not greasy - this is how this salad can be characterized. Quick to prepare and delicious to look at.
Ingredients:
- Squid – 3 carcasses
- onion - 1 piece
- apple cider vinegar - 3 tbsp. spoons
- garlic - 1 clove
- olive oil - 2 tbsp. spoons
- salt - to taste.
Cooking method:
Cut the onion into small pieces, put it in a cup and pour two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and the same amount of boiled water. Leave at room temperature for 15-20 minutes.
Place the squid in boiling water and cook over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a bowl of cold water.
Using a fine grater, grate the whites of boiled eggs and place them on the bottom of a deep bowl.
Chop the boiled seafood into strips and place it on top in a bowl.
Squeeze the pickled onion thoroughly and distribute in a bowl.
Pass a clove of garlic through a press and put it in a small jar, add 1/3 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of honey, 1 tablespoon. apple cider vinegar and 2 tbsp. l. olive oil. Then close this same jar and shake until the honey dissolves.
And pour this sauce over the whole salad.
And we make the hat from chicken yolk grated on a fine grater.
