The height of Lyudmila Chursina. Three marriages of Lyudmila Chursina
It will not be an exaggeration if we say that the actress Lyudmila Alekseevna Chursina is loved by millions of viewers not only in Russia, but also abroad. She is an extraordinary beauty, a most talented person, a woman of mystery. Chursina is not proud of her unusual appearance and numerous awards. As a child, she dreamed of becoming the chairman of a collective farm, but became a famous actress. She is not interested in diamonds and furs, limousines arrive at her door, and she leaves by subway. They asked her to move to Hollywood, but she remained in her impoverished country.
Childhood
Can you remember what you dreamed of as a child? Lyudmila Chursina remembers. Her main desire at the age of three was to eat her fill. The actress's childhood was during the difficult war and post-war years. The biography of Lyudmila Chursina began tragically. She was born a month after the Nazis attacked our lands. This happened in the Pskov region on July 20, 1941. Her father had already gone to the front, and her young mother, Genovefa, and her grandmother set off on a difficult journey from Riga to Velikiye Luki to visit relatives. The train was bombed more than once, and during one of them passengers scattered, a terrible stampede began, and a mother lost her newborn girl in a potato field. She spent two hours looking for the child among the mutilated bodies, became exhausted and was just about to return to the train when she heard a faint squeak. The girl gave her mother a sign that she wanted to live.
Sad memories
The family did not make it to their relatives and stayed to live in Dushanbe, in a tiny room in a communal apartment. A grandmother lived with Lyudmila and her mother, who sometimes managed to get some rotten carrots or potato peelings from the collective farm fields - that’s how they ate. Behind the wall lived wealthy neighbors who cooked semolina porridge almost every day. The most vivid childhood memories of the actress are trips to the market with her grandmother. Holding onto her skirt, the girl looked greedily at the fragrant cakes, fragrant melons, bright and ripe watermelons. All this luxury was beyond their means. Many years later, having become a famous actress, Lyudmila Chursina came to Dushanbe on tour. First of all, she went to the market, where, without choosing or bargaining, she bought pomegranates, peaches, flatbreads, and watermelons. Then she locked herself in her hotel room and began, shedding tears, to eat all this wealth, remembering her hungry childhood.
Sign of fate
Her school friend always dreamed of becoming an actress. Lyudmila Chursina herself, whose photo you see in this article, dreamed of something more global: building airplanes or leading a collective farm. But her plans were not destined to come true. The biography of Lyudmila Chursina changed dramatically when she decided to go with a friend to Moscow and, as a joke, together with her submitted documents to the Shchukin School. My friend failed her exams, and Lyudmila became a student. So she remained in the capital. She was given a place in the hostel. The student scholarship was not enough at all, not even for bread. Therefore, the beautiful and proud future actress Lyudmila Chursina got a job washing floors at her native school. In the morning I got up at five o’clock, rode across the city by trolleybus to “Pike” and washed the classrooms. Then she went to classes, which lasted until late in the evening. Hungry and tired, I arrived at the hostel closer to midnight.
Actress and director
Quite unexpectedly for herself at the school, Lyudmila Chursina learned from students and teachers that she was beautiful. I didn’t believe it right away. Since childhood, the girl considered herself a clumsy deer. Thin, tall and awkward, with long arms and legs, a large head. And besides, a size forty leg did not instill self-confidence. About this, she was terribly complex, slouched and seemed to say: “Sorry that I exist.” The directors noticed the tall, fair-haired beauty student very quickly. Already during her studies, Lyudmila was invited to act in films. During this period, she played her brilliant roles in the films “When the Trees Were Big”, “On the Seven Winds”, “Morning Trains”, “Two Lives”. On the set of the film “The Don Tale,” the actress’s romance with the famous Soviet director flared up. But it was not love in the usual sense. A talented director, a front-line soldier, a good, decent person aroused admiration and respect from the young actress. Over time, these feelings grew stronger and developed into affection.
Lyudmila Chursina: personal life
The actress, both at that time and much later, was accused of breaking up the family and screwing the director. But when they met, Vladimir was already divorced and lived completely alone in Leningrad. Lyudmila lived in Moscow, every weekend she went by train to her chosen one. When the director was ready to propose marriage, Lyudmila did not think for a minute - she got ready and moved to Leningrad. And this despite the fact that she had to leave her job in which she entered immediately after graduation. For an actress with no experience, this was a rare success. After marriage, Fetin directed his wife in several films, including the greatest film of all time, “Lyubov Yarovaya.” She also starred with other directors. Unfortunately, my husband’s career came to naught. Experiencing professional failures, he began to drink. Lyudmila Chursina earned money for her family alone. She desperately fought for the life of a loved one, asked, begged, talked. Then she started drinking on her own and came to her senses only on the Kamenoostrovsky Bridge, where she came to commit suicide. Despite her firm belief that one should get married once and for life, she decided to divorce.
The second husband of the popular actress was an oceanologist who was as handsome as a god. As it turned out, this was a random person in her life. The biography of Lyudmila Chursina turned out to be such that she met another man. He turned out to be the son of Yuri Andropov. True, at the first meeting Lyudmila did not know who Igor was. They lived for seven years and separated when the woman realized that fans were often interested in where Lyudmila Chursina’s children lived and what they were doing. The actress does not like to talk about this topic. This is her pain and an unfulfilled dream - she never gave birth to a child. But Lyudmila Alekseevna never felt lonely. There are always a lot of close and dear people around her, and her nephews take the place of children.
Hollywood
The biography of actress Lyudmila Chursina could have turned out differently. The appearance and talent of this extraordinary woman were highly appreciated abroad. One day, Goskino received a telegram saying that Lyudmila Chursina was invited to Hollywood to star in fifteen films at once. The actress was called on the carpet and told that she, a Soviet woman, should not agree to this proposal, since perhaps the capitalists would offer her to undress in front of the cameras. By that time, Lyudmila had learned to treat all problems philosophically: if they don’t let her in, it’s not necessary. She was upset only in those cases when she lost loved ones or parted with them.
The secret of youth
During the difficult times of perestroika, like many talented actors, Chursina lost her job. She was offered roles, but they were so empty and uninteresting that, even when left without a penny, she refused them. I was seriously thinking about working as a housekeeper. Why not? Chursina Lyudmila washed floors in classrooms in her youth. It was possible to refresh her memories; she is not afraid of any work. By the way, the director of the Moscow theater called her and offered her the role. Lyudmila Alekseevna immediately went to Moscow. Since she was not given a place in the hostel, she had to stay with a longtime fan of her talent in a wooden, dilapidated house on the very outskirts of the capital. For a year and a half she wandered around visiting friends and acquaintances, and only after that was she able to get a two-room apartment. Life began to get better. There were invitations to filming, roles in theater and cinema. She did not spend the fees she received, but collected them to help the family of her younger sister and mother.
Today Lyudmila Alekseevna is 73 years old. She is still in the ranks, not inferior to the young ones. For her, the main thing is the well-being of her family and work. She does not dream of eternal youth and does not undergo plastic surgery. He simply enjoys every day he lives, helps his loved ones and works hard.

There are many beautiful and talented actresses in Soviet and Russian cinema. But Lyudmila Chursina is a beauty for all times and for all peoples. In her youth, she was called the Russian Sophia Loren. And today we can say that time has no power over this woman.
Few would have thought that an ordinary girl who was born during the German bombing would grow into a real beauty, a talented actress, an intelligent and wise woman.
Lyudmila Chursina uniquely combines royal charm and simplicity of character. She gets to work by metro, but even there she feels like a queen.
Childhood and studies
The actress was born on July 20 in the first year of the Great Patriotic War in the city of Stalinabad. Her father was a military man, and the family had to travel around the country for him. Mother worked as a doctor.
Lyudmila studied at an ordinary Georgian school. She liked the national songs of Georgia. She knew the language well. She had good grades, but her behavior left much to be desired.
In 1959, after graduating from school, Chursina decided to enter a university related to the sciences in the field of technology. But then, together with a friend who dreamed of a creative career, I went to the capital and submitted applications to several educational institutions that train artists.
Unlike her friend, she entered all the institutes at once and eventually chose the school. B. Shchukina. Chursina was awarded her diploma in 1963.
Start of a career
After graduating from college, R. Simonov invited Lyudmila to the Vakhtangov Theater. She performed there for several years. Initially, the actress played in crowd scenes. Soon she had separate roles on stage. So Chursina performed on stage in the films “New Acquaintances”, “Richard the Third”.
In 1961, she starred in the film “When the Trees Were Big” together with Yu. Nikulin and L. Kuravlev. This was her debut work. The actress was very proud that she had the opportunity to work with such famous people. Later Lyudmila played in the films “On the Seven Winds” and “Two Lives”.
Creative path
Chursina gained great success and popularity after the release of the drama “The Don Tale”. The film was based on Sholokhov’s stories “The Shibalkovo Seed” and “The Birthmark”. The heroine of Lyudmila is the wife of a Red Army officer. She betrays the Red Army soldiers, and her husband kills her for betrayal. Love, despair and hatred are intertwined in the heroine's fate.
The actress perfectly performed the role of the Cossack girl Daria, accurately conveying her character. Thanks to filming in this film, Chursina was recognized as the best among actresses according to the results of the publication “Soviet Screen”.
In 1966, she starred in the role of the Estonian Inka. It was the film “Two Tickets to a Matinee.” In 1968, the artist appeared as a village woman with an unusual name in the social drama “Virineya”.
Soon the audience was presented with the film “Crane,” in which Chursina played the milkmaid Marfa, who endured all the hardships of life during and after the war. Then Lyudmila starred in the films “Across Rus'” and “Gloomy River”.
The artist had no difficulties with new roles. She could easily enter into the image of a femme fatale, which was characteristic of her in life. Chursina played leading roles in the films “Pursuit Race” and “Jewelry Making”.
The role of Svetlana in the film “Dossier on the Man in a Mercedes” brought Chursina the KGB Prize of the Soviet Union. Lyudmila played in the plays “I Don’t Remember Anything”, “White Roses and Pink Elephants”.
In 1968, the actress was invited to Los Angeles, where she had to sign a contract for three years. Chursina was a little wary of this proposal. She didn’t know English very well and understood how difficult it was to film in a foreign country. Soon the actress was summoned to the party committee, where they made it clear that they did not support the actress’s idea to conquer Hollywood.
And she ignored the invitation of foreign directors. In 1981, Lyudmila was awarded the honorary title "People's Artist of the Soviet Union."
During the years of reform, the actress had a hard time. Sometimes there wasn't even a penny in my pocket. Roles were rarely offered; mostly they were second-rate. She was already thinking about working as a housekeeper. But soon everything worked out, she remained in the cinema.
Theater creativity
Lyudmila loved the theater very much, she was constantly drawn to it. In 1974, the actress began performing at the Pushkin Drama Theater. In 1984, she left to work at CTSA. Her dream came true - she got the complex and tragic image of Barashkova in Dostoevsky’s novel “The Idiot”. Then Chursina played in “Masquerade” and “Farewell Light”. She didn’t have many roles, but they were all worthy.
The actress played Catherine the Great in the project “Empress”. In both appearance and temperament she is similar to her heroines. The actress many times tried on the roles of queens, empresses, femme fatales with attractive power and extraordinary beauty.
Today she almost never acts in feature films and devotes herself to working in the theater. Of her recent roles, the viewer most remembered Stephanie Abrahams in the play “Duet for a Soloist.” Chursina played a seriously ill violinist. And here the actress showed her capabilities to the fullest.
The artist is also involved in active social activities. She was a jury member of many competitions and published her articles on newspaper pages.
Personal life
During the filming of The Don Tale, she began an affair with the director of the film. Soon she and Vladimir Fetin got married. The husband directed Lyudmila in several films, including the well-known film “Lyubov Yarovaya.”
My husband was not against filming with other directors. Soon Vladimir’s career came to an end. He took his professional failures seriously and started drinking. The actress had to earn a living alone.
Lyudmila struggled with his addiction for a long time, begged, begged, at one time she even became addicted to alcohol and wanted to commit suicide. From an emotional breakdown she almost threw herself into the river. She was saved by a passing man. Then patience ran out, and she left Vladimir. Their marriage lasted seventeen years.
Despite what happened, Chursina always spoke warmly about her ex-husband and considered him a talented director. She took the news of his death in 1981 very hard.
In 1983, Chursina married again. Oceanologist V. Petrovsky became her lover. They lived together for less than three years and separated. According to the artist, this marriage was an accident.
In 1987, Igor Andropov became Chursina’s third husband. He was a serious figure in the political arena of the USSR, a very educated and interesting person. They lived together until 1991. Igor returned to his former wife, and the actress was left alone.
Igor Andropov became the third husband of Lyudmila Chursina
Lyudmila explained the divorce by saying that she and Igor met too late, already completely established individuals with their own habits. The artist admitted that love had passed.
Unfortunately, the actress has no children. But Chursina loves her nephews very much and always helps her sister’s children. At first, she postponed the birth of a child due to lack of housing, and then due to a busy work schedule.
Lyudmila Chursina with her sister, nephew and his family
Lyudmila Chursina is a talented actress, and also a woman with a difficult fate. She is no longer young, but she still captivates the eye when she performs in front of the audience. The woman understands that being a good actress is a duty for her, because she has been doing this all her life. Any film with her participation became a little better, more interesting and brighter. During her life she went through a lot, she was able to learn what hardships are and how to overcome them. Maybe that’s why it wasn’t a problem for her to get through where others couldn’t. This time the marriage lasted seven years, but in the end it still broke up. The actress has no children, and never has had any. Now the actress rarely acts, she takes more care of herself, develops, and enjoys various hobbies. She lived a fruitful life in which there is always something to remember.
Children of Lyudmila Chursina
The children of Lyudmila Chursina are always a closed topic for the actress. She never had children, for various reasons. It is unknown how much the actress wanted to become a mother, but the fact is that she constantly found a reason not to have children. At first, the young woman had problems with housing; she had no place to raise her offspring. Then, when she became popular, she was constantly offered tempting roles that she could not and did not want to refuse. So in the end, Chursina was never able to become a mother, maybe she regretted it. Everyone has their own destiny, so sometimes for a brilliant career and national fame you have to sacrifice ordinary values.
Former husband of Lyudmila Chursina - Vladimir Fetin
Lyudmila Chursina's ex-husband Vladimir Fetin became her first chosen one. They met during the filming of “The Don Tale”; Vladimir was the director of this film. Feelings arose between the director and actress, which soon grew into something serious, and the couple got married. For some time they were really happy, but Vladimir’s addiction to alcoholic drinks prevented them. Former husband of Lyudmila Chursina - Vladimir Petrovsky
Lyudmila Chursina's ex-husband Vladimir Petrovsky became her second ally in marriage. He worked as an oceanographer; they met, according to the press, on one of the film sets with Chursina. There is not much information about this marriage, so it is difficult to say why this marriage ended. Maybe there were no special feelings there; most likely, they did it spontaneously. They separated peacefully, without making claims to each other, so this time Lyudmila Chursina managed to avoid depression and bad mood. But still, no one can say for sure how it really happened. Lyudmila, apparently, was an amorous person who could not hold anyone for long.

Who would have thought that a girl born at the very beginning of the war, almost lost in a potato field, would grow into a beauty the size of a king? And you can’t say anything contemptuous about her – “fatal beauty”, no! She has so much inner innate intelligence and charm that, even playing broken Cossack girls, she still remained a queen. This is a feature given to her at birth. The daughter of a military man and a nurse, Lyudmila Chursina grew up constantly traveling around the USSR. She lived in Dushanbe, Tbilisi, and many small and large cities of the Soviet Union.
By the time Luda graduated from school, the family was already living in the city of Velikiye Luki, and it was from there that the girl went to enter the aviation institute in Moscow. Despite the fact that at the beginning of her studies at school, all sorts of things happened - they were punished for pranks, they gave bad marks for behavior, and there was no particular success in school, when she became a teenager, Lyudmila pulled herself together and, as a result, graduated from school with a gold medal. A lanky teenage girl, embarrassed by her tall stature, nevertheless in her dreams saw herself as a successful chairman of a collective farm, or the captain of a ship rushing along the sea waves among the cries of seagulls.
By the end of school, she nevertheless decided that she would become an aircraft designer, especially since at that time it was one of the most romantic and prestigious professions.
Arriving in Moscow with a friend who was going to conquer the capital as an actress, Lyudmila, out of curiosity and to support her friend, decided to try to pass the entrance exams with her. She remembered something from school, applicant Chursina learned something, and, to her great amazement, she easily entered the Shchukin Theater School. But my girlfriend is not.
In order to survive in a foreign city, Lyudmila worked as a cleaner. Arriving long before the start of classes, she washed the floors in the classrooms, and by the time the “local” yawning, half-awake Moscow classmates arrived, Luda was already cheerful and fresh. Exercising with a mop accelerated the blood and this made it easier to perceive everything that the teachers gave. Who knows, perhaps this was one of the reasons why Lyudmila graduated from the theater school. Shchukin with a gold medal.
After college, the young actress served in the Vakhtangov Theater in minor roles. When in 1965 she was offered to star in the film “The Don Tale,” Lyudmila could not even imagine how significant an event in her life this filming would become.
The young beauty, hiding a lot of complexes behind external arrogance, really wanted to stun the director with her beauty and “fashionability” from the very first time. In a miniskirt, high heels, with a fashionable bouffant on her head, she arrived in the Don village. Only when she saw director V. A. Fetin and her co-star Evgeniy Leonov greeting her, Lyuda realized how stupid and ridiculous she looked in this form among the road dust in which chickens were swarming. But even then Lyudmila tried to keep her mark. When Evgeny Leonov, whose height was not very tall, exclaimed in his hearts: “How am I going to act with this big guy!”, Lyudmila replied: “Order a bench for yourself!”
Having exchanged “courtesy” at the meeting, the actors created an unforgettable and intense duet during filming. To this day, Chursina remembers with warmth and gratitude how Leonov helped and advised her during filming, how family-like and friendly the atmosphere was on the set during and after work.
Best of the day
After “The Don Tale” there were many different paintings in which Lyudmila Chursina created and continues to create images of strong, beautiful, sometimes simply luxurious women. Living a new story each time, the actress gets so accustomed to her heroines, she is always so organic on the screen that the audience sincerely empathizes with all the women's destinies created by the actress.
She was offered to act in Hollywood, but for various reasons it didn’t work out. Lyudmila Chursina is the first actress who received the honor of becoming a People's Artist of the USSR at the age of forty. Usually this title is assigned to much older artists.
Constant travel, filming in different parts of a huge country, in different conditions is not the best way to start a family and children. An ardent and passionate person on the set of the film “The Don Tale,” Lyudmila fell in love with director Vladimir Fetin. This was the first love, which, despite the big age difference and divorce after a few years of marriage, remained in Lyudmila’s heart for the rest of her life. Even being already married to someone else, Chursina clearly felt the moment of Fetin’s death.
The second marriage somehow went through life without any special consequences, and Lyudmila Chursina practically never says anything about her oceanographer husband. But the third husband was a serious figure in the political life of the Soviet Union. This was the USSR Ambassador to Greece, the son of Yu. V. Andropov - Igor Yuryevich Andropov. They met and got married when they were already quite adults - both were well over forty. It would seem that at this age a person already understands a lot and knows how to appreciate and cherish what he has. But it only seemed... After living together for almost four years, the couple finally broke up. Igor Yuryevich returned to his former family, and Lyudmila was left alone.
It so happened that the actress does not have her own children. But there are nephews whom she loves very much and tries to help her sister raise them.
