Abstract: Why did I choose to become a lawyer? Ural Institute of Economics, Management and Law Justification for choosing a lawyer's specialty
Surely this question worries the minds of many young men and women who will soon receive a matriculation certificate. In general, choosing a specialty through which a person plans to “get himself a piece of bread” is a responsible and serious matter. And young people who are at the crossroads of what to do professionally in the future must take into account three circumstances. Firstly, the chosen field of activity should be of interest to the school graduate. Secondly, the profession must be in demand on the labor market. Well, and thirdly, the chosen type of activity must be correlated with the available opportunities. And if you dream of becoming a lawyer or a judge, then without certain qualities the dream will remain a dream.
Historical background
Those young people who are trying to understand: “Why am I choosing to become a lawyer?” must understand that this has been prestigious for many centuries. Since the formation of the Roman state, a legal system began to take shape, which became the basis for all others.
Paul, Ulpian, Modestine - these names will forever go down in the history of law.
Lawyer in modern conditions
Today, when asked why I choose to become a lawyer, many answer: “Because it is prestigious today, and my parents advised me to become a notary.” Of course, they are right, but you cannot become a lawyer just because it is a highly paid field of activity. It is also necessary to take into account that for many a lawyer is a calling. The salaries of investigators and interrogators are relatively low and, naturally, graduates of police academies become detectives not in order to become rich and famous, but in order to provide real assistance in reducing the crime rate. Of course, the labor market today is oversaturated with legal specialists. But the profession of a legal adviser is in demand today more than ever. But the real ones can be “counted on one hand.”
Currently, there is a certain percentage of those who have not particularly thought about the question: “Why am I choosing to become a lawyer”? Their fate and future career were taken care of by wealthy parents, who in advance secured a “warm” place for their offspring in a reputable company.
Such young men and women do not bother to attend lectures and seminars, passing the exam for a “bribe.” Of course, they will receive a diploma, but which of them will be specialists later? Who can they then protect from criminal prosecution? This problem is acquiring gigantic proportions today.
Description of the profession
So, today few people can clearly formulate the reasons why I chose the legal profession. An essay on this topic could be included in the school curriculum for high school students, so that everyone can understand how exactly they can help people by becoming a prosecutor or lawyer. A lawyer in a broad sense is a specialist who understands all branches of legal science. He is an investigator, a notary, a lawyer, a legal adviser, and a prosecutor all rolled into one. All these legal specialists are united by their knowledge of the legislative framework and the ability to apply it in practice.
Of course, even the most experienced and authoritative expert in the field of law should know for himself: “Why did I choose to become a lawyer”? It would not hurt to recommend writing an essay that would give a detailed answer to this question to first-year students of universities preparing specialists in jurisprudence.
A legal expert must not only be able to find the right law and apply it correctly. It’s not for nothing that they say: “Don’t be treated by a doctor who messes with books, and don’t leave a lawyer who does it.” The skill of “remembering everything” comes later.
He must also know how to obtain evidence in the case and, based on them, correctly classify this or that act. And of course, a lawyer must have certain qualities, which will be mentioned above.
Criticism
Of course, quite often a young person may ask himself the question: “Why do I want to be a lawyer”?
More than one essay has already been written on this topic. And in fairness, it should be noted that not all boys and girls find the above specialty necessary and in demand. They say that the result of a lawyer’s work is practically invisible to humanity in the broad sense of the word. Well, he helped one person avoid criminal liability - did this make it any easier for society? And here, it would seem, newcomers to the field of jurisprudence may begin to have doubts about the correctness of the decision they once made, they say: “Why did I choose this legal profession?” But, in reality, the above position is fundamentally wrong, because if there is an opportunity to help at least one individual, then life has not been lived in vain.
A lawyer, in a sense, is comparable to a doctor who can cure a person if he has health problems. A lawyer helps people if they have problems with the law. The life of a modern person is so unpredictable that it can be very difficult to protect yourself from illness and crime. As they say: “don’t swear off scrip and jail.”
And yet, you need to try to be a law-abiding citizen.
Pros
So, the young man declares: “I have chosen the profession of a lawyer.” What prospects does she bring to him? Money, fame, a “good” career? Absolutely yes. But only on condition that the young man is a real guru in the field of law. Society has always respected legal professionals. Suffice it to recall such names as Plevako and Koni.
It just so happens that currently in our country, people with a legal education are primarily applying for highly paid and prestigious vacancies. There are many examples where ordinary legal advisers, showing special hard work and gaining precious experience, turned into authoritative judges and prosecutors general. Naturally, they themselves worked their way up the career ladder, taking care of their impeccable reputation and solving the most high-profile cases.
Of course, because you have another opportunity to help a person or get him out of trouble.
Prospects
Today, a higher legal education is a launching pad for realizing oneself in many areas of life. A huge number of legal scholars find their calling in scientific, teaching, public service, and politics. They also become businessmen, bankers, and competent managers of commercial structures. Is it understandable why people choose to become a lawyer? But again, only those legal specialists who know the laws perfectly, have a broad outlook, know how to conduct business negotiations, and competently resolve conflict situations can realize themselves in prestigious professions. Moreover, the range of specialties in which lawyers successfully conduct business is expanding today.
New Horizons
New areas of activity are emerging to protect consumer rights, protect the market from unfair competition, and protect copyrights. Moreover, we are talking about an increase in vacancies, where it is impossible to do without special knowledge in the field of jurisprudence.
For many, this is another powerful argument in favor of why I chose the legal profession. And at present there is an urgent need for qualified personnel. A significant jump in the crime rate against the backdrop of numerous social processes of a negative nature forced the expansion of the level of investigators, operational staff and the number of prosecutors.
It should be taken into account that when applying for employment, potential employers give preference to young specialists who have graduated from well-known universities, but this does not mean that graduates of “ordinary” educational institutions do not have a chance to get a position as a legal adviser in a prestigious company.
Qualities
Of course, the question is: “Why did I choose to become a lawyer?” For a certain part of young people - yesterday's schoolchildren - remains debatable. But, it should be emphasized once again that not every boy or girl (even if they really want it) is destined to become a professional in the field of law. You can often hear from representatives of the younger generation: “My future profession is a lawyer.” But then they take entrance exams to a university, receive the coveted diploma and turn out to be unsuitable for the profession or, at best, very “mediocre” specialists. Why is this happening? Why do some “grow” into experienced detectives, while others turn out to be “would-be jurists” who don’t even know what the Basic Law of our country is called? It's all about the qualities possessed by a person who has decided to devote himself to jurisprudence. Professions such as judge, prosecutor or lawyer require compliance. Lawyers who apply for them must have a high level of intellectual development, be stress-resistant, sociable, have organizational skills, have good public speaking skills, and so on. Also, in the legal profession it is very important to have a certain level of social adaptation.
Conclusion
Of course, a lawyer will appear in the top prestigious specialties for many years to come. Today, specialists in this profile are needed by almost every company doing business. But only real legal experts who clearly know why they came to this profession will be in demand.
Why did I choose to become a lawyer?
Among the most popular specialties, there are several professions that have been and will always be in demand in the business community, under any conditions and regimes. For example, a lawyer. Specialists of this profile are required by almost every organization, firm, enterprise, commercial and public structure.
The specialty “jurisprudence” combines several legal professions. These are a judge, a prosecutor, a lawyer, an investigator, a notary, and a legal adviser. A significant number of lawyers are involved in politics, research and teaching. Thus, the professional capabilities of a lawyer extend to specialized structures, i.e. judicial, law enforcement agencies, legal services structures, as well as general management and economic structures.
At the same time, many lawyers, while maintaining the title of lawyer by training, are engaged in activities that may not be formally considered legal. But the very training of lawyers, their range of knowledge and skills, connections, and manner of solving problems turn out to be very useful here. Most often, lawyers by training work in the following areas of general activity: trade; banking and insurance; management of legal entities, i.e. joint stock companies, limited liability companies; public administration.
Nowadays, a lawyer’s opportunities to find interesting work in various fields have expanded quite significantly. New types of work are emerging in the protection of consumer rights, copyrights, protection of the market from unfair competition, the construction business, and in the field of real estate activities. At the same time, we are talking not just about expanding the number of jobs, but about the fact that the list of positions and jobs that require the knowledge of a lawyer is becoming wider.
Currently, there is an urgent need for lawyers for the law enforcement system. The sharp increase in crime and a number of other social processes have led to the need to expand the investigative apparatus, operational staff, as well as judges and prosecutors.
The profession of a lawyer is quite in demand on the labor market, especially when it comes to graduates of leading Russian law universities and faculties.
The role of professional legal activity in market conditions is increasing significantly. This is primarily due to the fact that civil turnover is sharply expanding, requiring adequate legal support: conclusion, amendment and termination of contracts, settlement of economic disputes, etc. The scope of judicial protection of the rights and interests of citizens and organizations is significantly expanding, which significantly increases the number cases in the courts. In this regard, more lawyers, legal advisers, notaries, judges, etc. are required. The role of lawyers is becoming increasingly important because the economic condition of organizations and the well-being of citizens directly depend on the results of their activities.
A lawyer, no matter what field of activity he works in, must have a good knowledge of substantive and procedural law. In a situation of dynamic changes in Russian legislation, the inclusion of our country in the European and global space, for a specialist of any level there is a danger of losing skills if there is no opportunity to constantly improve their qualifications.
At present, indeed, we can talk about some (but only quantitative) overproduction of lawyers. At the same time, civil society, the state and various organizations still lack highly qualified specialists in the field of law who have work experience in their specialty and have proven themselves to be conscientious and knowledgeable workers.
So, I chose the profession of lawyer. The question of why I chose her is difficult to answer unequivocally. Maybe because the demand for such specialists in the future is obvious. Besides, I want to feel armed probably the most powerful knowledge, - knowledge of the law. After all, the ability to navigate legal reality is required not only within the framework of purely professional practice, but is also a permanent need of modern reality. One cannot, of course, fail to mention material factor. Finding, first of all, a promising and decently paid job is one of my primary goals, although I realize that with the existing labor market this will not be easy.
You probably rarely think about the question of what qualities a lawyer should have. However, I have already thought about this topic. For the first time, I had to face the question of the character traits needed to be a lawyer when I entered university. I wonder, after all, whether I am suitable for the legal profession (or is it suitable for me?)?
Ideally, a lawyer should have the following qualities: such as honesty, decency, literacy, self-discipline, responsibility.
Professional legal activity is complex and multifaceted. Its psychological analysis always makes it possible to highlight a number of stages through which the movement towards the final goal - establishing the truth - took place. To one degree or another, the following aspects can be distinguished in professional legal activity: search (cognitive), communicative, certification, organizational, reconstructive (constructional), social.
In each of the above aspects, the corresponding personal qualities, ensuring the success of activities.
The activity of a lawyer is a multi-level, hierarchical phenomenon. At each level, the achievement of the goals characteristic of this level is ensured by the corresponding personal structures, and their achievement provides the opportunity to move on to achieving the goals of higher levels of activity. Lawyers need be able to rationally distribute your strengths and abilities in order to maintain labor productivity throughout the entire working day, to possess professional psychological qualities in order to obtain optimal evidence with the least amount of nervous energy. In the consistent development of such professional qualities, as flexibility of mind and character, keen observation and tenacious memory, self-control and endurance, integrity and fairness, organization and independence, the recommendations of psychological science are of great importance, which indicates the right ways and means of their formation. Along with this, further increasing the efficiency of the work of forensic investigators requires a comprehensive, in-depth development of the psychological foundations of forensic tactics, as well as the study or knowledge of the psychology of other participants in criminal proceedings (accused, victim, witness, etc.). The psychological competence of forensic investigators helps “to prevent errors, sometimes fraught with serious consequences, that can arise when judging human actions due to underestimation of psychological aspects.”
Lawyer - a person who is called to rise above his habits and desires: he must do his job in accordance with the highest interests of society. Offenders are often strong, focused individuals who are not easy to fight with. Often, work on solving and investigating crimes is a battle between personalities and characters.
A person is formed into a personality in the process of social practice. Legal education is the first step towards establishing oneself as an individual in the field of implementation of law. Legal education should provide knowledge and understanding of speech and skill necessary for a practicing lawyer, including understanding of legal and ethical responsibilities, human rights and fundamental freedoms, recognized by the legislation of the country and international law.
The work of lawyers, very diverse and complex, has a whole a number of features that distinguish it from labor most people in other professions.
Firstly, legal professions are characterized by an extraordinary variety of tasks to be solved. The program for solving these problems can be expressed in the most general form, which, as a rule, is formulated in a legal norm. Each new case for an investigator, prosecutor, judge, lawyer represents a new task. The fewer templates used in approaching a matter, the higher the likelihood of finding the truth.
Secondly, legal activity, with all its complexity and diversity fully subject to legal regulation, and this leaves an imprint on the personality of each lawyer. Already when planning their activities, any employee mentally compares future actions with the legal norms that regulate these actions.
For almost all legal professions, one of the main aspects of activity is communication activity, which consists of communication under legal regulation. This legal (procedural) regulation leaves a specific imprint on all participants in communication, endowing them with special rights and responsibilities and giving a special flavor to communication, distinguishing the legal professions as a special group.
Most legal professions are characterized by high emotional stress of work. Moreover, more often this is associated with negative emotions, with the need to suppress them, and postpone emotional release for a relatively long period of time.
The work of many lawyers (prosecutor, investigator, judge, operational worker, etc.) is associated with the exercise of special powers, with the right and duty to exercise power in the name of law. Therefore, most people occupying these positions develop a professional sense of increased responsibility for the consequences of their actions.
For most legal professions, a characteristic feature is organizational side of activity, which usually has two aspects:
* organizing your own work during the working day, week, organizing work on the case in conditions of irregular working hours;
* organization of joint work with other officials, law enforcement agencies, and other parties in criminal proceedings.
The legal profession is characterized by overcoming resistance to activity by individuals and, in some cases, microgroups. A lawyer in search of the truth in a case often encounters passive or active resistance from persons interested in a certain outcome of the case.
Essentially, all legal professions have creative aspect of work, which follows from the listed characteristics. That’s why I’m attracted to the legal profession!
The legal profession is associated with the opportunity to positively influence what is happening. A lawyer can help an unjustly offended person, protect the rights of a victim from a crime, help a person illegally fired from work, restore or protect disputed property or housing rights. A lawyer working as an investigator or judge can ensure a fair punishment for a criminal. The prosecutor has the right to bring to justice an official who breaks the law.
The work of a lawyer is fight for right, which does not always lead to victory. But the very focus of professional activity can bring many specialists high moral satisfaction. The attractiveness of the legal profession lies in its certain independence. Lawyers are usually subordinate to their superiors in one way or another, except for judges and members of the liberal profession - lawyers. But they still make decisions in accordance with the law, and the interpretation of the law presupposes independence. The better a lawyer thinks, the more he knows, the bolder and more persistent he is, the more accurate his decisions will be and thus the higher his reputation.
It is these wide opportunities to use one’s intellect and character generate lawyer satisfaction with their work. He develops his own style and skill, and most professionals enjoy it. An attractive feature of the legal profession is the ability to use it in various spheres of public life, in economics, art, sports, and journalism. Getting into a good enough position takes a lot of work.
However, lawyers do occupy high government positions. Their names are known in journalism. Highly qualified lawyers are heard. Legal scholars are universally respected. In general, we can rightfully say that a truly smart, highly qualified lawyer is a desirable employee, adviser and advisor in any area of professional activity.
Difficulties of the profession
There are different people among lawyers. However, one way or another, they have to be more or less careful in choosing acquaintances, because the close friendship of an investigator and a person working in a risky business raises questions. A lawyer has to restrain himself more than others.
The work of a lawyer is very responsible. The fate of a person or the well-being and prosperity of a huge company very often ends up in his hands. Lawyers, like no one else, are subject to stress.
A lawyer in the public service, especially in law enforcement agencies, constantly makes decisions that change people's destinies. The investigator decides (under the control of the court) issues of detention, the prosecutor approves the indictment, and brings a claim in the interests of the state, which can lead to large losses for the defendant. But the consequences of such decisions can also affect the lawyer. He answers- and quite strictly - for errors, omissions, views, in essence, for any errors, even those that arose due to his negligence, and sometimes without any guilt. This makes lawyers nervous, especially young ones, wears out many of them prematurely, and forces them to change jobs.
In economics, the job of a lawyer was once more or less calm. However, it is now also associated with risk of high liability. Wrong advice can cause enormous damage to the firm and no less to the reputation of the lawyer himself. Of course, the risk of liability depends on the nature of the decisions made and their scale. The perception of risk and the ability to bear it depend on the personal qualities of the lawyer; there are calm people who take responsibility; There are people who generally react weakly to their own decisions and do not survive them. But in general, the work of a lawyer cannot be called calm.
People often need “quick and urgent” help from lawyers. Therefore, their working hours may be irregular, and free evenings and vacations can become a big problem for them.
A lawyer has a very stressful job, there is no standard working day or even a working week. Lawyers are often forced to work in the evenings and on weekends. During the working day, a variety of tasks may arrive that require immediate solutions.
A lawyer's career does not tolerate long breaks. He always needs to be in shape, and our legislation is constantly changing. Having a baby can present you with difficult choices.
People in legal professions need special composure and organization. Their activities are usually very diverse (for example, a lawyer can handle 10-20 cases at the same time), so they have to constantly control themselves and spend their time very carefully.
Conflict is a special property of legal activity.
Here are just some of the possible conflicts: between personal sympathies and the requirements of the law, between the interests of the client and the interests of the rule of law, between fellow lawyers who may interpret the law differently and have different views on the same case or problem.
Almost all legal professions are highly competitive. It is not surprising - many consider jurisprudence to be their life’s work and want to be the best of the best in this difficult field.
The demand is great mainly for lawyers with solid experience, and only they can count on truly highly paid work. The path of a beginner in this profession is thorny and long, like in no other. Fame is a rare reward for a lawyer, rather an exception to the rule. He actually has to solve puzzles. But much more often - engage in a painstaking search for the truth: study thousands of papers and documents, interview hundreds of people. You shouldn't look for any special romance in this work.
A lawyer is a complex and diverse profession that requires punctuality, attentiveness, logical thinking and great dedication. To achieve great heights and career growth in this profession, you need a great desire and love for it. To be a professional in it, you need time, life, professional practice and, of course, the desire to work and comprehend all new branches of law. Of course, after some time you can become a professional in one of the branches of law (civil, criminal, corporate, commercial law, etc.), but it is not possible to immediately be a professional in everything. Choosing for yourself what is closer is the task.
I want to be a lawyer. A lawyer, as you know, defends. He handles either criminal or civil cases in court, but usually has an even narrower specialization. For example, it deals with transport accidents, divorces or housing disputes. To become a lawyer, you need not only to graduate from a law school or institute, but also to have work experience (about two years), pass the bar exam and join one of the bar associations. A business lawyer, unlike a lawyer, rarely appears in court. His task is precisely to ensure that his client - a firm, a bank, a company - does not have to go to court. He helps to draw up agreements and peacefully resolve various conflicts. This job has a lot in common with what a lawyer does in a firm. Only a business lawyer has many clients and very often comes to their aid in critical situations. Business advocacy is the pinnacle that many lawyers would like to climb to. But not everyone succeeds in this.
It's not easy for a new lawyer. The main thing is hard work, desire, work on yourself.
I am ready to work for the future, and future difficulties and obstacles inspire me. I want to help people and constantly feel that many of them need me.
Not everything works out right away; it takes experience and practice. It is important for aspiring lawyers to listen to the advice of professionals and learn to be a defender of the law and justice.
I have made my choice in the profession and I want to realize myself in it.
A lawyer must be a man of honor and justice. I like my profession because I can help a person in need. Communication with different people and the desire to solve their life problems gives me pleasure. Everyone probably knows how much effort and work it takes to achieve what they want. But only those who do not give up at the first difficulties and failures achieve their goal. The main thing is to believe in your strength, knowledge and everything will work out in this difficult profession.
Russian President Vladimir Putin is a lawyer by profession. Former US President Barack Obama is a lawyer and holds a doctorate in law. President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is a candidate of legal sciences. 34 of the 400 richest American businessmen have a law degree, and the richest lawyers on the Forbes list earn about $200 million a year.
Agree, quite good achievements of law school graduates. But experts from Russian analytical centers specializing in statistics constantly provide data on the overabundance of university graduates with a legal education.
According to their data, over 60% of young specialists cannot get a job in their profession. But does this mean that the legal profession has ceased to be in demand? No, that's not true. In a situation where you need a good specialist in any area of law, you will experience serious difficulties: the services of high-quality lawyers are prohibitively expensive. This profession will never lose its relevance. But how to become a successful lawyer? What skills do you need to have, where to study and how to build a career? What prospects open up for graduates of large and provincial cities? How much do specialists of different profiles earn? Let's figure it out.
Description of the profession "lawyer"
A lawyer is a specialist in the field of law. However, under the brief definition lies a large-scale activity and a mass of professions that decide human destinies. In every country where the rule of law prevails, a lot depends on these specialists. They carry out grandiose reforms, occupy high positions in governments, and become presidents. Judges (also lawyers by training) decide the fate of thousands of people every year, and lawyers save their clients even in situations that seem hopeless.
Key features of the profession:
- Unconditional knowledge of the law and especially thorough knowledge of specialized sections.
- The best prospects for building a career, almost unlimited growth.
- Unique range of salaries - from 13 thousand rubles to millions of dollars.
- The need for constant self-education, self-improvement and practice.
- The opportunity to change not only destinies, but also the course of history with your work.
Another feature is high competition at the beginning of a career. It is really difficult to break through, but it is quite possible, provided that you meet the ideals in terms of personal qualities and professional skills.
If you don’t settle down in some small provincial company, but constantly strive for better positions, you will win. Provided, of course, that you pull off these high positions, professionally and emotionally.
What can a lawyer do?

Investigator– to be an employee of the prosecutor’s office, specializing in the investigation of cases sent to court, in clarifying all the circumstances and assessing their legality.
Judge– make decisions in civil, administrative and criminal cases. De facto - to decide the destinies of people with impartial and legal decisions.
Notary– perform various actions on the basis of a notary license. In particular, to certify documents and confirm the will of a person with documents.
Consultant– the position of legal consultant involves providing legal assistance to clients. It consists of consultations, paperwork, drawing up agreements, representing the client’s interests in court and claims work.
Features of the legal profession
Who is a lawyer? A specialist who is well versed in all areas of law and best in his own.
His strength lies not only in his knowledge of the laws, but also in his ability to apply them in practice - to each specific case.
In 90% of situations, the profession requires close communication with people and a subtle understanding of psychology (this skill is especially important for lawyers and investigators). A specialist should not limit himself to memorizing the rules of law - he is not a walking encyclopedia. He is a man who knows how the law works. Knows how to apply it in practice, and sometimes how to get around it due to numerous loopholes and contradictions.
Let us note the key features of the profession:
- High competition.
- Practical difficulty.
- Lack of “success” instructions.
- Many specialties.
Speaking about specialties, we note not only the professions of lawyer, investigator, consultant and the like. We are talking about the opportunities that the knowledge acquired by a specialist provides. Practice shows that lawyers become excellent businessmen, officials, and teachers. They can realize themselves in hundreds of specialties that are in no way related to jurisprudence, precisely because of their excellent knowledge of legislation and the regulatory framework.
What skills do you need to have?
Let's say you decide: my future profession is a lawyer, I want to do this, I want to reach the peak of the career ladder, get a high position in the government, and maybe become president. But what qualities should I have? Will I cope with the tasks facing me, will I be able to achieve success? Everything depends not only on knowledge, but also on character traits, your communication skills, an analytical mind and the desire to constantly learn and improve yourself. Without them, you risk remaining forever as a consultant in an unknown company and being content with a salary of 15-20 thousand rubles.
What qualities should a lawyer have:
- Analytical mind.
- Iron nerves.
- Communication skills.
- Excellent memory.
- Creativity.
But what does creativity have to do with it, you ask? The fact is that a lawyer who knows the laws well is rarely useful to a potential client and is ineffective in his service. Everything you need can be found in the databases - today most of them are in the public domain. But if I choose to become a lawyer, I certainly want to succeed. Accordingly, I need to be creative enough to make the law work for me.
It’s loudly said, but it’s partly true - good lawyers are able to win a case that 99% of their colleagues would call hopeless.
What a good lawyer should know
Right, in all its manifestations. Laws, regulations, instructions. Regardless of specialization, it is important to know all areas of law, since most provisions overlap with each other. Let’s say a specialist holds the position of a car lawyer. It would seem that he should specialize only in road accidents, problems of drivers with the traffic police, conducting car purchase and sale transactions and disputes with insurers. But what if a person was injured in an accident? If the case smells like a criminal article? Knowledge of the entire branch of law will help in any situation.
Precedents. World experience includes many cases and situations. After studying it, even the most extraordinary problem does not seem so hopeless. Moreover, many judges take into account precedents from regional, federal and world practice when the law interprets a particular situation in two ways. Therefore, it is very important to monitor the situation not only in your region and in your country, but also in the world. It is important to study matters that have nothing to do with you. It is important to possess a colossal amount of information - for this a lawyer needs an excellent memory.
Where is the best place to study to become a lawyer?
The more prestigious the university and faculty, the better. Graduates of the best educational institutions receive a lot of privileges. This is a profession in which preparation during training is especially important. This is probably why lawyers in Russia have long been going to be banned from studying part-time and part-time - the effectiveness of education in these cases falls, as practice shows. One of the core subjects for admission to the Faculty of Law is social studies, so special attention should be paid.
TOP 5 best universities in Russia for studying law:
- SPbSU
- Peoples' Friendship University
- MGIMO.
It is worth noting that other universities are also actively pursuing the 5th place in the ranking, which is why the data differs in different lists. In particular, the Novosibirsk Law Institute, which is one of the strongest in the country, is vying for this place, which has more than once been confirmed by the highest qualifications of its graduates.
What to do with provincial universities
Is there a chance for a graduate of a provincial university to become successful? Of course there is. But you will have to spend much more effort to build a career than after studying at a prestigious university.
But, as you know, nothing is impossible for a person with intelligence. Even after graduating from a small regional university, you will be able to enroll in graduate school at more prestigious universities (including foreign ones). Or you will have a chance to prove your professional worth through hard work.
What to take? Usually this is the Russian language, social studies, history or mathematics. But many universities offer applicants to take completely different subjects for admission. Some conduct internal exams - these may require a personal presentation, writing an essay, taking a test, or a classic answer on tickets. We recommend that you check the list of entrance exams in advance.
Pros and cons of being a lawyer
The profession has clear advantages, but we must not forget the obvious disadvantages. Only after weighing all the pros and cons can you make the right decision. The disadvantages should not scare you, and the advantages should not put rose-colored glasses on your eyes. Try to approach the analysis in a balanced and mature manner. We will present only dry facts.
Key advantages of the profession:
- Unlimited career growth.
- Many specialties.
- Lots of opportunities for self-realization.
- High salaries for the best specialists.
- Abundance of current vacancies.
Key disadvantages of the profession:
- High competition.
- Minimum number of budget places in universities.
- The difficulty of building a career.
- Benefits of graduating from top universities.
- Low salaries for specialists who have not made a career.
- Practical and emotional complexity.
- The need to constantly develop in the professional field.
Lawyer salary
Based on statistical data, the average salary of a lawyer in Russia is 34 thousand rubles. The minimum is 12 thousand. The maximum is more than 1 million rubles. The richest lawyers in the world earn about $200 million a year. And the poorest struggle to live from paycheck to paycheck. This is a merciless profession that knows no pity for losers - high pay awaits only the successful and highly qualified.
How much does a lawyer earn in the regions? On average, about 18 thousand rubles. But here, too, there are many exceptions: in any city in the country there are the same lawyers, whose fees for one case can exceed several million rubles.
This once again confirms the rule: the work of the best lawyers is paid more than adequately.
But the rest have to be content with a salary that is comparable to the salary of a cashier in a grocery store.
Resume
Why does the legal profession require a humane attitude? Why should a judge be independent, why will his bias sooner or later lead to the collapse of the legal system in the country? Why is it so important not only to know the laws, but also to be able to find loopholes in them? Jurisprudence is fraught with many issues that both beginners and existing specialists have to comprehend.
No matter what the statistics say, this profession will always be relevant and in demand. Another thing is that no one can guarantee you a high salary immediately after graduating from university. No one can promise you that you will succeed. Everything will depend only on you.

Essay on the topic “My future profession is a lawyer”
I think more and more often about what profession I will choose in the future. After all, the time is just around the corner when we all graduate from school, and we will need to choose a university.
You cannot make a mistake in this matter, because the chosen profession will accompany us for the rest of our lives.
I am interested in the legal profession. Why do I want to become one? These are respected people, without whom almost no institution or company can do. You can work as a lawyer both in government organizations and in private enterprises, or you can open your own practice.
Since we live in a rule-of-law state, lawyers are in great demand. Every now and then disputes arise that must be resolved fairly and according to the law. I am sure that in order for everyone to live comfortably in our society, life in it must be built on the basis of laws and clear rules. And to regulate all these processes, various kinds of lawyers are needed (judges, lawyers, prosecutors, notaries, etc.).
In our country, a huge number of universities train lawyers, so I think there will be no problems with the educational institution. If I manage to show myself well during my studies and at conferences, then perhaps I will be able to get an internship at some large company. And this, in turn, will give impetus to my future career.
I understand that we have a lot of lawyers in our country, and there is a lot of competition among them, but, as in any business, professionals are highly valued and have an advantage. Therefore, I will need to put in a lot of effort and time and try to become a real pro in order to find my niche in my career and a worthy place in life.
I want to benefit the society in which I live, because if we resolve all disputes and conflicts in a civilized manner and according to the law, then life will be better for everyone. I'm sure of it.

Profession lawyer essay
I hope that in the future I will become a lawyer. Before choosing it, I thought and thought for a long time about what profession I should choose.
A lawyer is one of the most complex and important professions of our time. It helps to exonerate an innocent person and solve many crimes. There is a saying: ‘It is better to let ten guilty people go free than to convict one innocent one. In such difficult situations, a lawyer must show all his intelligence and all his knowledge. I want to choose this profession because it is in great demand on the labor market, and I hope that I can find a good job. I also love justice very much, and I will do my best to ensure that it prevails.
Because a lawyer must be a person of high integrity and honesty. But for this I have to do very well in school in order to get into a good law school. Because the university plays a very important role for this profession. A good legal education will help me learn all the laws, codes and legal regulations. But this profession is very difficult and not everyone can do it.
You need to have extraordinary willpower and perseverance in order to learn the entire theory and not give up when difficulties arise. And I think that I am quite purposeful and can achieve good results. A lawyer is not only a theorist, but also a practitioner, so he must have a very developed logic. A lawyer needs not only to know the theory, but also to be able to apply it in practice, so as not to get confused in difficult life situations. I want to help people to feel wanted and needed.
Even if you cannot find a profession in your specialty, you will be able to professionally protect your rights and the rights of your family at any time and in any situation. That is why I decided to choose such an important and necessary profession as a lawyer.

The legal profession is a profession that inspires!
Every person is on the verge of choosing a life path. This choice determines whether a person will be happy. Which profession should I choose? What to do?
Many of us choose the most popular and prestigious professions. One of these, in my opinion, is the legal profession.
In my opinion, the main goal of a lawyer is to preserve law and order.
There are not many professions in the world that are as responsible, respected and honorable, and at the same time as complex as a lawyer.
The impeccable implementation of laws, and, consequently, the existence and legal functioning of the state depends on the employees of the legal industry.
Every lawyer must be ready to respond correctly and in a timely manner to the needs of society, master the methods and techniques of working with changing legislation, extensive documentation, and published literature.
A lawyer must not only help people with legal advice, but also know the ways out of certain situations and current circumstances.
Jurisprudence is one of those sciences that is learned throughout life. Since legislation is constantly changing and supplemented, a lawyer must be able to quickly find and remember the nuances of legal norms in order to be able to operate with the knowledge gained. The main thing is to have a true calling for this and be ready for long and hard work.
I chose my path in life! My path is jurisprudence.
My future profession inspires me. Every day in an educational institution is like a holiday for me. Every day I expand my knowledge in this area: I study laws, statutes, I reason, I think - it’s so cool and wonderful!
Recently, having watched the Russian TV series “Escape,” I was delighted with how the lawyers looked for clues and risked their lives for the sake of truth and justice. I think such people deserve praise!
Based on the above, I concluded for myself that lawyers are people who have chosen a thorny path for themselves not for money, not for position, but for the sake of those people whose lives they are called upon to protect. These words are not an exaggeration, because in our state, as in many others, people are threatened by criminal elements. And that is why the lawyer takes upon himself the responsibility to protect such people, despite the fact that the people who require protection come from different social statuses. But there are people who do not have financial resources and cannot pay for the services of a lawyer. Perseverance, assertiveness, and the ability to persuade - these are the qualities that also help to become a good lawyer.
I am already a fourth-year student, and not once has my chosen profession disappointed me, but, on the contrary, every day it becomes more and more interesting to me. In the future, I plan not to stop there, but to enter a higher educational institution. And, of course, work in your favorite field, be an example, protect the rights and freedom of citizens.
Each of us is not just a citizen of our state, but also a creator of History. By taking meaningful actions and doing everyday work, we become participants in important historical events.
Please write me a mini-essay (it’s very urgent, nothing comes to mind.) “WHAT I WANT TO BE” (I’m a girl.)
Answers and explanations
why I decided to become a lawyer
I really enjoy watching television programs that deal with issues of law and order. One evening there was a program with the participation of the most interesting person Anatoly Kucherena. I paid close attention to every word he said, every thought, because they were clear, concise, and understandable to all participants in the dialogue. Later I found out that Anatoly Kucherena is a Doctor of Law, one of the best lawyers in Russia. He achieved great success in his life thanks to hard work and perseverance, sincere devotion to his favorite work. For me, he immediately became a role model. This is how the person on the screen influenced and even somewhat changed the whole course of my thoughts about my future profession. I finally decided to become a lawyer.
In my opinion, the legal profession is very honorable and in demand. Every person living in society must understand this. Why did she interest me?
Firstly, because it requires activity and constant contact with people, and I am a very sociable person. Being with people is my calling.
Secondly, working as a lawyer means doing good to people, seeking justice in accordance with the law.
Thirdly, working as a lawyer is not only honorable and prestigious, but also profitable. This job is a good stepping stone for career advancement up to the head of a large company.
To become a professional lawyer, you need to learn a lot: you need to master various legal terms, concepts, literally understand a huge number of codes, laws, you need to be to some extent a psychologist so that people do not panic and are able to competently protect their rights. All this requires good memory, endurance, endurance and courage. That is why not all people can be lawyers, but only a few. I also belong to this category.
My soul is drawn to this profession, and only with it do I really want to connect my life. I want to become a great specialist in the field of jurisprudence. For this I chose to study in a socio-legal class. Law is my favorite subject and I spend more time and attention on it than others. I easily apply the acquired knowledge in everyday life, give advice to classmates and friends. This year I participated in the city subject Olympiad for the first time, taking third place. But I’m not going to stop there. I plan to achieve greater success next year and compete at the republican level.
I think I will succeed. I am often told that in recent years a huge number of lawyers have been trained in the country and their wages are low, many university graduates work outside their specialty, I think that there is always a decent job for a qualified specialist. I will never give up on my plans, no matter what obstacles stand in my way. And it is no coincidence that I chose Goethe’s words as my life motto: “Difficulties increase as you approach the goal. But let everyone make his way like the stars calmly, not in a hurry, but constantly striving towards the intended goal.” I see my life goal in professional success, respect from others and a sincere desire to do what I love.
Why do I want to become a lawyer?
My family and I actively discussed the issue of my future profession, and I decided that I would study to become a lawyer. Why did I choose this profession?
Firstly, this work involves working with people, live communication with them. This profession requires such qualities as communication skills, logical thinking, good memory, honesty, responsibility, the ability to make the right decision, ingenuity. Equally important is the presence in a person of this specialty of personal qualities such as kindness, responsiveness, humanity, honesty, fairness, sense of honor, decency, respect, conscientiousness.
This profession is not easy. It requires enormous diligence and hard work in order to comprehend its basics. For a novice lawyer, you need to be able to listen to the experience of senior, experienced professionals, and learn to be fair within the law.
Being a lawyer is a creative job. For example, a lawyer speaking in front of a jury in a courthouse is similar to an artist performing in front of an audience on a stage. The difficulties and obstacles of this profession are very interesting to me and give me an incentive to further develop. This motivates me to help people and to be sure that my help and knowledge will be in demand by people. And when I acquire a certain amount of knowledge, perhaps I will devote myself to political activity in order to take part in the adoption and change of laws and rules.
The main goal of a lawyer is to comply with legal norms and take responsibility for the fate of a person who may be unjustly convicted. As a consequence of this, a person’s entire life can be ruined by an unjust sentence.
To master all the intricacies of the profession, you need to perfectly know the criminal and procedural codes, be able to clearly use the code of laws and articles, you need to be a psychologist, understand human souls. All this requires perseverance, hard work, memory and endurance.
I will do my best and I will succeed!
The specialty of a lawyer is one of the most popular professions, because a lawyer is needed in almost any organization, in production, and I hope that in the future I will be able to find a good, interesting, highly paid job. I will try to benefit people.
