How to make a pneumatic machine gun with your own hands
If you have an air compressor with a receiver on your household, then you have every opportunity to make a game console for the compressor. The weapon was adapted to the available ammunition - rowan and pea, and accordingly the machine guns were called rowan launcher and pea shooter. The design of a homemade machine gun is simple. It is based on manual blowing, which makes it easy to control the weapon. For manufacturing details, see the video.
How to make a gas gun with your own hands
When repeating this design, strictly follow the safety rules. You are building a gas gun at your own risk and take ALL responsibility for the construction, use, consequences of using this device, as well as for any damage caused. The authors summarized the accumulated experience in building potato cannons and tried to use ready-made elements in the design. In total, three types of guns of different calibers were designed.
Mini gun 32 mm caliber
The gun is made by hand in the shape of a pistol and shoots small balls. A reliable piezo spark source will not create problems. The gun is used for target shooting competitions. Requires some experience when loading. See production details
Gas apple potato gun 50 mm caliber
Gas gun
This is a serious design in terms of sound and projectile. The main application is to imitate the sound of a hunting rifle shot to scare away birds. A reliable budget gun, but only if used correctly and sparingly. Strictly follow safety rules and assembly recommendations. See how to make an Apple Gun
Gas mortar 100 mm caliber
Experimental design for firing volumetric light projectiles with electronic filling. Some results are shown in the video. When repeating, do not forget that this is not a real mortar, but just a thin-walled plastic pipe. Not all planned experiments have been carried out with this gun and will be published as the results are obtained. The record height of the shot is 80 meters. The mortar in its repetition is the simplest design, see the video for details.

Every self-respecting country that wants to have weight on the world stage spends almost the lion's share of its budget on the development of the military-industrial complex. Target factories are being built, new ultra-modern types of weapons are being developed. However, you can effectively destroy enemy combat forces in another way - using homemade weapons. This, of course, is not as effective, but it works great in guerrilla warfare. And exactly about homemade weapons we'll talk today.
1. Pit trap
Perhaps the most primitive example of a homemade weapon. The soldier does not see the hole, falls into it, runs into stakes or spikes, and loses his combat effectiveness. What could be simpler? Even ancient and primitive hunters used pit traps for hunting wild and large animals. But people are much smarter than animals, so the main problem is the effective camouflage of such pits. The best example of a tactic to use this homemade weapons demonstrated to us.
For those who don’t know, the Vietnam War, in which licensed peddlers of democracy massively sucked in the semi-savage Vietnamese people, partially sponsored by the Soviet Union. The very conditions of Vietnam completely neutralized the fierce superiority of the democratizers in armored vehicles and aviation, and the American infantry, as we know, sucks without support. And here it sucked especially hard - the jungle, high humidity, regular flooding of the territory, tropical diseases, mosquitoes, poor mobility - all this played against them. And then there are the evil Vietnamese, to whom “democracy” did not give in at all and who did their best to complicate the life of the American army. And it's not even about classic guerrilla tactics, speech and “quiet” war.
The fact is that digging holes in the ground, sticking them with stakes smeared with, excuse me, shit, and waiting for the water to fill them itself is as easy as shelling pears. And a soldier who is blindly wandering along a half-flooded path discovered with such difficulty will obviously not be happy to fail and run into these surprises with all his weight. There is also a more complicated version - in addition to the stakes at the bottom, spikes were installed on the sides, directed diagonally down. If a soldier tried to pull his leg out, he also ran into these spikes. And a very difficult option - two logs studded with nails. The soldier steps on their joint, falls down, the drums rotate, the nails stick in...
2. Molotov cocktail
This homemade weapon has already become a classic for most modern riots. And all because it is extremely simple.
The first to come up with such an effective means of destroying manpower and armored vehicles were hot Finnish guys during the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940. And it was they who called these cute bottles “Cocktail for Molotov”, since Comrade Molotov was at that time the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and was, in principle, responsible for starting the war.
However, this one has homemade weapons and obvious shortcomings. The first and main thing is that a set fire to a rag unmasks a fighter, putting his life at risk. A solution was found with the help of chemistry - mixtures of some chemicals ignite upon contact with air, so they began to simply put an ampoule with reagents in bottles with Molotov cocktail.
3. Samopal
Or in other words - homemade firearms. Honestly, it is worthy of a separate article - so many different options were invented, created and tested by local “Kulibins” of various nationalities. So for now we will focus on the simplest option - the “ignition” type self-propelled gun.
According to modern weapons classification, this is a single-shot ramrod-type pistol. That is, the charge and bullet are placed from the muzzle opening. On the opposite side, accordingly, there is an igniter hole. The barrel is a metal tube that is attached to an improvised butt. The charge is directly ignited either manually or using a trigger mechanism.
Despite the extremely simple principle, this homemade weapon quite effective. It can even kill at close range, especially if you hit something vital organ.
4. Kassam missile
This homemade weapon- in fact, a solid-fuel unguided surface-to-surface missile. It is still being actively carried out in the Gaza Strip with the aim of shelling Israeli territory.
The point is simple. The simplest and most accessible ingredients are taken, which we will not list here, but which can be found in any agricultural or hardware store. All this is combined in the correct proportions, and then the homemade missile is installed on the launcher and launched in the direction of the enemy.
Between 2001 and 2012, 27 people were officially killed, and another 700 were injured of varying degrees of severity. Actually, this is not an attacking weapon - low accuracy, low explosive force and heavy weight make it ineffective in active combat operations. But as a weapon of terror, it’s just right. Produced literally on the knee, inexpensive, unnoticeable. And not so long ago, a Palestinian garbage truck was detained in the Gaza Strip, converted into a multiple launch rocket system with the help of Qassams. No, this is truly brilliant - you can move around the territory unnoticed, in a matter of minutes prepare a salvo, shoot and hide just as unnoticed. In short, simple and effective in its own way homemade weapon.
5. “Shushpanzers”
This funny name, which originated in 2007 on thematic forums dedicated to military equipment, hides any modern vehicle covered with improvised armor. Wherever it was not used - both during the Second World War, when the USSR had huge problems with armored vehicles, so armor and weapons were even installed on tractors, and during the first Arab-Israeli conflict, when the Jews did not yet have their own Merkavas, and on eastern Ukraine, and from both sides of the conflict.
And all because this homemade weapons an extremely simple principle. A powerful wheelbase is taken (truck, tractor, anything that can pull a lot of weight) and sheathed with thick metal sheets. The thicker it is, the more reliable it is. Actually, that's all. From shrapnel and bullets it homemade weapon will protect, deliver the soldier to his destination. And if you install a machine gun, it will cover you with fire. In a word, simple and effective.

Paper is not a weapon - in its usual form. But thin strips of paper, 27 centimeters long and several centimeters wide, can be turned into weapons if a thin layer of aluminum is sprayed onto both sides.
Clusters of such stripes reflect electromagnetic pulses with a wavelength of 2.4 meters, that is, exactly the frequency at which the German Luftwaffe's Freya early warning radars operated in World War II. Paper treated in this way was ideal for disorienting enemy intelligence: a couple of hundred strips reflected impulses in the same way as a heavy bomber. It was a real secret weapon - unexpected and highly effective.
But it had one important drawback: once the paper strips were used for the first time, they ceased to be a secret. Indeed, of the copies dropped in large quantities, several on the very first day fell into the hands of the German occupation authorities or local Wehrmacht services. It was not difficult for Luftwaffe specialists to understand the principle of their operation.
Therefore, the command of the Royal Air Force (RAF) for a long time did not dare to launch this innovation, protected by the code name “Window”. They decided that if they were to do this, then only when it came to a really big goal. For example, about the second largest city in Germany.
At the end of July 1943 the hour came. Hamburg was one of the main targets of RAF Bomber Command. Berlin and the Ruhr region had already been subjected to heavy bombing with devastating destruction. Now it was the turn of the most important port of the Third Reich.
According to the “Casablanca Directive,” adopted at a meeting between US President Franklin D. Roosevelt and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in the Moroccan city of Casablanca in early 1943, the main objective was to be “the progressive destruction and disorganization of the military, industrial and economic system Germany”, as well as “undermining the morale of the German people to such an extent that their ability to carry out armed resistance is fatally weakened.”
In the raid on Hamburg, these two goals were almost ideally combined: the city with a population of 1.6 million people at that time was, on the one hand, a large industrial center of great importance for the German military industry, on the other hand, it was not a stronghold of national socialists, as convincingly demonstrated by the election results before 1932.
If this city was largely destroyed, it would have multiple effects, the RAF hoped: first, it would damage the Wehrmacht's military production and supplies; secondly, the removal of even the largest destruction will tie up regime resources, which therefore cannot be used elsewhere; thirdly, there is the prospect that the population will rebel against the NSDAP.
That, at any rate, was the calculation of military planners who worked around the clock in High Wycombe, a town 50 kilometers west of London, on appropriate strategies. Bomber Command considered mid-summer to be the most appropriate time for the raid.
On Saturday, July 24, 1943, that moment arrived. At about 11 p.m., the radio in Northern Germany announced: “Large enemy formations are approaching the Heligoland Bight.” However, many of the radar echoes were actually reflections from Windows, aluminum-coated paper strips first used over Europe.
This was the first of five night air raids carried out until 4 August 1943. These were supplemented by two daytime bombing raids by the American Air Force. As a result, the port city of Hamburg experienced the heaviest air raids to which any city in the world had yet been subjected. The operation was code-named “Gomorrah,” and the result corresponded to this biblical prototype: about 40 thousand people died, 280 thousand apartments were destroyed.
Since the beginning of the war, this Hanseatic city has been subjected to air raids 137 times, they cost the lives of 1,500 people, 25 thousand residents lost a roof over their heads. But now the nightmare has taken on a new dimension.
On the first night, 791 British bombers dropped their deadly payload over the city, suffering little damage from the completely disorientated German air defenses. Then, as work began to clear the ruins, the first daylight raid was carried out - on the afternoon of July 25, 1943, approximately 100 American bombers attacked the city. 20 hours later, another 71 American bombers raided the port of Hamburg; at night of the same day, to create panic among the population, the city was attacked by several British high-speed bombers, also under the protection and support of Windows.
But Hamburg had yet to experience the peak of the disaster: on the night of July 27-28, 1943, 739 British four-engine bombers dropped their cargo over areas of the city east of the center. Due to the fires that broke out there, a devastating firestorm formed - the first time during the war in a large German city. Hurricane winds carried the flames across entire neighborhoods. The districts of Rothenburgsort, Hammerbrook and Borgfelde were completely destroyed, and in Eilbeck, Barmbeck and Wandsbeck only bare walls remained on many streets.
For the remaining two war years, destroyed Hamburg was only a burden for Nazi Germany. “A series of such raids, if extended to six more large cities,” believed Hitler’s Minister of Armaments Albert Speer, “would paralyze the German war industry.”
What happened to Windows? When, during July 25, 1943, several copies of this secret weapon fell into the hands of Luftwaffe experts, they immediately understood what it was about. Because, under the code name "Düppel", Hermann Goering's scientists themselves experimented since 1941 with strips of staniol to create interference on radars. But in order not to reveal the secret of the weapon to the enemy, it was not used.
