Traditional way Congratulation cards are used to show respect, congratulate on an event or thank you for your attention. We invite you to consider several ideas for creating cards for your favorite teacher with your own hands. Making them is not difficult at all.
Postcard options
DIY postcards for teachers can have not only a variety of designs. Their main attributes can be:
- globe;
- school board;
- school desk;
- pointer;
- stationery (usually pencils, pens, rulers and erasers);
- images of marks;
- flowers;
- books;
- owl;
- school backpacks.
You can use other elements to decorate the cards. Just remember that everything should be harmoniously combined in size and color, and also correspond to the theme of the holiday. For example, New Year cards with a Christmas tree are not suitable for the first of September.
Base for postcards
As for the base of the postcard, it can also be anything, there are no restrictions. If you want to make a traditional open book greeting card, you just need to take double-sided cardboard and fold it in half. You can also create a single-sided card. To do this, you need to cut out a square or rectangle from cardboard.
There are also more complex versions of greeting cards that have a non-standard appearance. For example, it could be a voluminous bouquet, a backpack or any other item.

To do this beautiful postcard If you want to make your own teacher, you will need to take thick cardboard for the base, as well as several types of multi-colored paper. Ideal option is paper for decoupage. She not only has bright design, but also an interesting texture.
The procedure for making such a postcard for a teacher with your own hands is quite simple:

- Cut out a square or rectangle from brightly colored paper that is slightly smaller than the front of the card.
- Take light plain paper and make it even smaller than the previous piece.
- Take a regular piece of paper, maybe a notebook, and fold it in half. Draw an arc on the fold. This will be half of the future apple. The detail should be slightly less than that which you made in step 3. Cut out the apple along the contour and unfold it. You now have a layout with which you can make two other blanks.
- Attach the design to bright paper and trace it with a pencil. It is advisable to use leaves with a red tint.
- Cut out one half.
- Take the layout, fold it in half again and make the apple smaller by cutting off the excess.
- Place the design on light paper, trace it and cut out the part.
- Take green paper and draw two oval leaves on it.
- From paper brown make a slightly bent “tail” for the apple.
- Now, using the pyramid principle, place all our details on the base of the postcard: from point 2, then from 3, then the “tail” and two leaves, the large half of an apple and at the end the small one. If you like the result, then start gluing.

Postcards with an owl
You can make very cute and “warm” do-it-yourself cards for teachers with figures of wise owls made from felt or other similar material. Such cards are appropriate for both September 1 and Teacher's Day.
From materials you will need to take brown, black, gray and white felt, pink thick fabric, cardboard with a wood pattern, black cardboard, decorative paper. Remember that everything can be replaced. For example, instead of wood-look paper, you can use regular dark brown cardboard.
First, make the base of the card, and then decorative paper cut out a piece slightly smaller than the front of the card. On plain paper, you can sketch out a model of an owl on a notebook sheet: draw an oval body with ears, wings and legs. To make the bird more voluminous, cut out the body and wings from felt separately and then glue them together. Cut out an owl's belly from pink fabric and glue it onto the body. Make eyes from felt (two gray, white and black circles, each smaller than the previous one) and paws, as well as a piece of chalk. Glue the parts together.
Now cut out three squares, each subsequent one smaller than the previous one: from pink fabric, from wood-look paper, from black cardboard. Make the edges of the last part curly. Place the blanks on top of each other. There should be black cardboard on top. Glue all the parts together and then glue the owl onto the card. Make a congratulatory inscription on the “board” using a proofreader or a white marker.
Original greeting card in the form of a pencil
DIY postcard for the first teacher
The teacher will be very pleased if the child makes a postcard on his own, without the help of his parents. Therefore, it is best to choose some simple ideas. For example, you can fold a sheet of colored paper in half, place the child’s palm on it so that the large and index fingers were on the fold, trace it, and then cut along the contour. The result will be a very cute card with the baby’s hand, which he can sign himself.
The card is made of colored cardboard and paper in the shape of an owl. An owl is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge. I wanted to give a smart owl to my future first graders on September 1st. I really want the kids to remember this day as one of the most significant days in your life. You can paste a letter from the teacher to your future students or just words of congratulations into the postcard.
Materials and tools
How to make a postcard for “First-grader” for September 1st with your own hands? Step-by-step instructions for children and adults.
To make a postcard you need:
1) Fold a sheet of brown cardboard in half crosswise. From one sheet of cardboard you get two blank postcards at once.
2) Cut out the base in the shape of an owl.
This is what the postcard looks like when unfolded:
3) Cut out:
Made of gray paper - belly of an owl (1 piece)
Gold paper beak (1 piece)
White paper - eyes (2 pieces)
Pupils made of yellow paper (2 pieces)
Black paper - eyelids (2 pieces)
Made of black cardboard 4x4cm - academic cap (1 piece)
4) Glue the abdominal part.
5) Then it’s the beak’s turn. I bent the beak part in half and glued it by the edges to make the beak three-dimensional.
6) It's time to make the owl's eyes. We will glue the pupil onto the white part of the eye...
And on top is the eyelid.
We will also make a second eye. Now we place both eyes on the craft.
7) Now it’s time for the academic cap. You can make a tassel entirely from threads. I've simplified the job. From scraps of black paper I cut out 2 parts of the future brush. Between them I put a thread folded in doubles and glued both parts together. After the tassel had dried, I sewed it to the middle of the hat.
8) You can decorate the card as you wish. It all depends on your imagination! I got it like this:
9) All that remains is to write a letter of congratulations. I will still have time to compose it.

Stages of making an invitation card.
1. First of all, let's make the base of the postcard. Divide a standard color sheet for printing into three parts. This size is the most economical in the sense that three card bases can be prepared from one standard sheet. Cut into pieces and get three rectangles.
So, for the base of the postcard we prepared a rectangle of colored office paper measuring 10.5 by 18.5 cm. Fold it into three parts, observing certain dimensions. The right part is 9 cm wide. Fold the left part exactly in half.
2. Fold one narrow part towards the middle.
3. To prevent the edge from opening, connect the folded parts with a drop of glue. You can use a glue stick.
4. Using a carved hole punch, decorate the outer edges of the card base. The base of the card is ready.
5. Pre-print congratulations or invitations to the expected celebration. Glue the invitation to the second page.
Words can also be written by hand using colored pens or markers.
This is what the invitation card looks like when opened.
5. Half of the following template was used to make the maple leaves.
The templates were previously printed on a printer on multi-colored sheets of A-4 format.
6. Having bent along the intended line, we cut out and obtained the following paper parts.
7. Each piece was folded like an accordion. It is more convenient to bend starting from the wide side of the part.
8. Iron the folds well and fold the entire piece in half, coating one edge with glue.
This will create a maple leaf.
9. Decorate each leaf with a gold bow. Bows can be tied from satin ribbon.
Or do the following. Cut strips of golden textile 4-5 cm long.
10. Glue the end and beginning of the strip together. This is where glue comes in handy.
11. Glue the parts together in pairs, and the golden bow is ready.
12. Glue a golden bow to the wrong side of the maple leaf.
You can prepare leaves of different sizes.
13. Decorated with bows maple leaves place and secure on the first page of the invitation card.
14. Everyone understands the expression " golden autumn", so you can “golden” maple leaves by adding shiny curls. This is a thin floral decorative ribbon.
15. This is what the postcard looks like when opened.
Below are examples of several color solutions postcards.

One of decorative elements our postcard is a flower in autumn colors. It will consist of three parts of different shades and sizes. To slightly enliven the flower, we tint its petals with ink pads. Let's walk along the edge of the petals and slightly follow the veins. In addition, slightly raise the petals of all three parts. This will make the flower more voluminous, making it more realistic.
We assemble the flower by connecting the parts with double-sided tape.
We decorate the flower with raffia in two colors. Raffia is a decorative element made from palm fibers. Artificial raffia is also sold. If you don't have raffia, you can replace it with ribbons or braid.
Let's add a little glamor - the role of the center of the flower is played by a matching rhinestone!
Glue the finished flower onto the card. Before you do this, estimate the approximate location of all the details in order to calculate the most suitable place for the flower.
For the inscription, we selected scrap paper that imitates a lined sheet from a school notebook. We print the text on it and cut it out.
Glue a rectangle with text onto the front of the card. To add volume to the work, we secure the three corners with double-sided foam tape. Special adhesive pads will also work – it’s even more convenient. We attach the corner that will be hidden under the flower with ordinary double-sided tape - there is no need for volume there.
What is a flower without leaves? Using a hole punch, we cut out two branches from paper of two shades. Just like flower petals, we treat them with an ink pad. It turned out to be almost real autumn leaves!
Glue the inscription, hiding one corner under the flower. Add hole punch leaves.
Now our postcard for September 1 is ready! It has all the colors of autumn - yellow, orange, red, brown, a little green and a little sky blue! This card will cheer you up even on the gloomiest autumn day.
