It's no secret that the domestic personnel market is experiencing an acute shortage of highly qualified specialists. There is a shortage of competent professionals even in the most highly competitive industries. Discussions on this topic do not subside, but the opinions of experts boil down to one thing: it is necessary to create a high-quality education system, establish the mechanism of the educational process and improve the existing methodological base.
Distance learning at the institute
However, in practice, only some of the existing universities providing educational services can boast of optimal indicators. In Moscow, one of such educational institutions is MIT. According to reviews, modern technologies are used here at every stage of the educational process. Thanks to the opportunity to study remotely at the Moscow Institute of Technology, students can obtain the necessary knowledge from anywhere in the world. The management of MIT openly declares the institution as a new generation university. Allegedly, this institute embodies all the most important and necessary things that have been accumulated over many years in the field of Russian and foreign education. Based on reviews from MIT students, we’ll try to figure out whether this is actually true.
International educational project in Russia
The history of the Moscow Institute began with a joint initiative of the government of the Russian Federation and the UN structural divisions UNESCO and UNIDO. In order to modernize the education system in Russia, two interrelated projects were developed: Descop (“Distance learning in a new information environment”) and VTU (current MIT).
Nikolai Malyshev, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, professor, became the first President of VTU. Today, the rector of the capital’s university is Doctor of Economics G. G. Bubnov. The first MIT branch was opened in Orenburg 15 years ago. According to reviews, this structural unit is in demand among applicants. Several years ago, branches of the Moscow Institute of Technology opened in Germany, the Czech Republic and Vietnam.
Pros and cons of distance learning at MIT
Reviews of the distance learning process often point to the most important drawback - the lack of real communication with the teaching staff.
However, this minus is compensated by other advantages:
- Quality. Since the founding of the educational institution in 1997, MIT has acquired vast experience in educational activities, graduating tens of thousands of specialists.
- Availability. According to reviews, studying at MIT is possible full-time, part-time, or part-time. Here everyone will find an option that suits their income level, age, place of residence, health status and professional employment.
- Opportunity to undergo training in educational qualification programs of bachelor's and master's degrees, obtaining a second higher education, advanced training, etc.
- The introduction of innovative technologies, which makes the educational process more convenient and effective, without the associated costs of time and money.
Operating principles of the Moscow Institute of Technology
The purpose of creating MIT, according to experts, was primarily the need to meet the needs of the economy and society for competent, competitive professionals. Thanks to the human resources potential in modern Russia, knowledge should be disseminated at a rapid pace, and high-tech developments and projects should be introduced in production.
At the same time, the Moscow Technological Institute (MIT) ensures the availability of quality education, focused not only on the student obtaining a theoretical basis, but also sufficient practical experience. As part of the innovative educational process, the university carries out current scientific research aimed at familiarizing and using the results in fundamental and applied fields.
Why students choose distance learning
Judging by the reviews of MIT graduates, the main factors that serve as arguments when choosing this educational institution are, as a rule:
- Lack of time or desire to attend classes.
- Full-time employment.
- Affordable tuition fees.
- International diploma.
Among MIT students, there are predominantly people from Russian regions, including the Far Eastern, Ural, and North Caucasus federal districts. Enrolling in a university where studying is carried out remotely is a convenient and inexpensive way to get a higher education, which will later help you build a career ladder and improve your financial situation.
If you believe reviews about MIT (Moscow Institute of Technology), many learned about it from advertising on social networks. A small banner with the inscription “Affordable education” arouses interest among applicants who are looking for a decent place to get an education.
Tuition fees and additional benefits
The reasonable price makes you choose this university in the capital. In Moscow it is impossible to find an institution where the cost of a year of study will be at least close to 100 thousand rubles. If we are talking about MIT College, according to reviews, this amount can be paid for three courses. During the preparation, students here gain practical experience and confidence in their professional future. The college's curricula are developed by leading teachers of the institute, and therefore make it possible to prepare competitive graduates in the most sought-after specialties. The duration of college education is from two to four years.
The price of educational courses may vary throughout the year. Also, applicants entering this university note frequent promotions. For example, after successfully passing the entrance exams, an admitted student is given a tablet and free Internet access for the entire period of study.
Advantages of studying at MIT
Thus, the cost of one educational course costs students 150-200 thousand rubles. What do students get for this money?
- Part-time or full-time education using distance technologies. Simply put, you can take classes and take exams directly from your tablet, computer or smartphone at any time and from anywhere in the country, as well as abroad.
- There is no need to travel to Moscow to enroll at MIT. This is a huge plus for residents of remote regions. The fact of enrollment in a university is certified by a notary, you can pay for tuition using a bank card, and you can receive documents with wet stamps confirming admission (student card, grade book, copy of the contract, etc.) using the services of Russian Post.
- You can attend classes virtually - lectures and seminars are held in the form of webinars. During the pairing, you can ask questions of interest.
- Passing the exam and defending coursework and dissertations also takes place on the Internet, using a webcam.
If you do not live in the capital, you will not have to periodically travel to sessions in Moscow throughout the entire period of study. The only exception is the presentation of a diploma.
How to enter MIT, what is needed for this
However, not everything is so simple and cloudless. To enroll and study at MIT, it is important to take care of the following points:
- Availability of a certain amount of money to pay for training. At the same time, the university allows the opportunity to take advantage of an educational loan or installment payment.
- Unified State Exam results for school graduates after 2007, and for those who enter the second higher education - a higher professional education diploma and passing a formal entrance test.
- Level of certain knowledge. You won’t be able to get away with chocolate for good grades here: all completed tasks are checked by a robot. Therefore, illiterately written tests, term papers and dissertations are assessed with the lowest scores. If there are a lot of them in the record book, expulsion is not far off - everything is the same as in a regular university.
- The desire and desire to engage in self-education is what the distance learning model at MIT implies. In the reviews, many students note that here the role of teachers in the educational process is minimized. However, on the official website of the institute mti.edu.ru it is indicated that all of them have scientific degrees of candidates and doctors of science, the titles of associate professors and professors.
Features of the educational process
A new MIT student who has completed the registration procedure is greeted with a website with a study plan. This resource will become his faithful friend and accompaniment over the next years, right up to receiving his diploma. According to the plan, the student must, in random order, pass the required forms of control, write coursework in the specified disciplines and undergo educational practice.
Each discipline consists of sections, each of which contains several chapters (theoretical part) and test tasks. At the end of all chapters there are trial tests (25 questions), for which there are no restrictions on the number of attempts and time spent. After studying the next section, the student will have to take a consolidation test - it is practically no different from the trial test, but there is already a robotic time limit. The final grade for the completed course of the discipline is included in the diploma, so there are only three attempts to pass the exam.
The site contains sections for choosing the topic of your course work. In their reviews of MIT, many students consider the inability to independently select questions and theses for consideration to be a huge disadvantage. The rules for formatting work are also indicated there, and there is a special button for downloading a file in Word format. All works are checked in the Anti-Plagiarism program. The submission of practice reports, current tests and dissertations proceeds in a similar manner.
How do remote lectures, seminars and exams work?
Webinars are the only thing that is similar to traditional university education. You don’t have to attend virtual online classes at all, but they help you pass tests. Students, sitting in front of monitors or with tablets in their hands, can ask the teacher questions, receive grades and homework. Despite the fact that webinars are held as scheduled, there is always the opportunity to review the recording of past classes. Exams take place via Skype. Administrative support for students is also provided via video link or email.
Judging by the reviews of distance learning at MIT (Moscow Institute of Technology), the remote educational mechanism here is quite well established. For those who do not have a higher education or would like to get a second (subsequent) diploma without spending a lot of effort and time, this university is for you.
Negative reviews about the university
On the other hand, studying at MIT has a number of disadvantages. Boris Sobolev noted the most significant ones in his journalistic investigation. The correspondent decided to find out whether the quality of the educational process really corresponds to what was declared. In his opinion, MIT is a fictitious educational institution. He came to this conclusion after:
- The admissions office gave him exam sheets: he was allowed to fill them out at home.
- I learned that in order to be admitted to MIT, applicants must answer questions from grades 5 and 7 of a general education school. For a higher education system, such requirements are too low.
- Sobolev deliberately filled out all the exam sheets incorrectly and made basic mistakes, but the admissions officer accepted the documents and stated that the applicant had scored all the required points.
Today there are other universities offering advanced distance learning technologies. It is impossible to say objectively whether they are better or worse than MIT. There is only one good thing: there is a choice of affordable education.

University Reviews
TOP-10 largest universities in Moscow by the number of students from monitoring the effectiveness of educational organizations of higher education by the Ministry of Education and Science in 2016.
About MIT
The Moscow Institute of Technology occupies a leading position in distance learning for students among Russian universities. To study at MIT, it is not necessary to attend lectures and practical classes; every student at the institute receives a European-quality education without leaving home.
Benefits of studying at MIT
MIT is the only university in the Russian Federation that was created through the joint efforts of the Government of the Russian Federation and the international organization UNESCO. At the moment, this institute represents an international network of branches, where every effort is made to develop the continuous technological training of students.
Thanks to MIT's cooperation with UNESCO, the institute has some advantages over other universities.
- The quality of the education received. Despite the fact that the institute opened only in the late 90s of the twentieth century, more than tens of thousands of highly qualified specialists managed to graduate from it. MIT has only two departments - management and economics; modern technologies and equipment. But these faculties employ real professionals in their field, who strive to find an individual approach to each student in order to pass on their work experience, all knowledge and skills.
- Availability of education. Absolutely anyone can study at MIT, regardless of their health status, income level, availability of free time, place of residence, age and any other life circumstances. In order to start studying, you just need to weigh your options and choose the best training program.
- Continuity of student education. While studying at the institute, each student has ample opportunities for his own continuous development. Here you can first get your first education in your chosen specialty, and then a second one. You can continue your master's studies and defend your dissertation, and then take advanced training courses, and then even get the highest degree in management - an MBA. This level of qualification will certainly make each student very competitive in the labor market compared to other job seekers.
- Technological effectiveness of the learning process. The use of various modern technological tools in the learning process makes the learning process much more convenient and effective, and also reduces the cost of both time and money.
MIT Electronic Library
In order for a student to become a true professional in his field after graduation, he must constantly engage in self-education. For these purposes, MIT offers its students from all over the world an electronic library, which is considered one of the largest in Russia.
The library has about 60,000 copies, among which there are both independent publications, which are published exclusively in electronic form, and analogues of previously printed books. In the MIT electronic library you can find:
- educational, scientific and methodological literature for in-depth mastery of the discipline being studied;
- textbooks, lecture notes, test and practical assignments, methodological recommendations for studying the subject, which were prepared by the teaching staff of MIT specifically for their students;
- periodicals that reflect the depth of content of specialized disciplines in selected specialties;
- reference books, encyclopedias and dictionaries that help to understand the scientific terms that students encounter during their studies.
To make it easier for students to navigate the electronic library, MIT specialists created an electronic catalog that lists all the materials that are in the library. Students just need to enter the name of a textbook or teaching aid into the catalog, and it will find the book they need.
Teaching students using the latest distance learning technologies
Education of students using MIT distance technologies provides them with a more free schedule for studying educational materials, in accordance with the plan that is established before the start of education. Students can communicate with MIT teachers and their fellow students in real time via web conferencing using special software.
In the process of studying each discipline, students constantly perform tests that allow them to consolidate the learned material. Teachers carefully check these tasks and, if they are completed successfully, give students access to the final exam or testing, which ends the study of this discipline.
Sometimes, in the process of studying the material, a student needs to write a term paper. The student independently chooses the topic of the work, comes up with a plan for its implementation and selects the material, and if necessary, at any time he can ask for help and advice from the teacher, who will tell you how and what is best to do when writing a course project. And having written such a work, the student simply sends it to his teacher by email.
It happens that students’ Internet connection disappears at home or its speed decreases; in this case, any student can use the access point to the World Wide Web in the MIT “VTU” building.
