With slightly damp hands, we form lazy cabbage rolls and place them in a baking dish or baking sheet with high sides, which we first lightly spray with vegetable oil. Place in an oven preheated to 190 C for 20 minutes.
During this time, for the gravy, mix tomato paste, mayonnaise, add water (about one glass), chopped onions, carrots and mix everything.

When I see the word “lazy” in the title of a recipe, I immediately think: oh, this is certainly not for the lazy, but quite the opposite - for very energetic women who love their husbands very much. Otherwise, it’s hard for me to imagine the motivation with which a housewife is ready to spend an hour at the stove, constantly boiling something, chopping, mixing, rolling, frying, etc., etc. And yet, I finally gathered my courage and For the first time in my life I cooked lazy cabbage rolls in the oven. I can’t say anything against it, because the deliciousness is unreal, plus there’s enough food for a large family for at least two days. I was also surprised that all these one and a half baking sheets were made from only half a kilo of meat. In general, the experience of those labors was worth it. Although my works still need to be divided into at least two. After all, I didn’t just cook lazy cabbage rolls in the oven, I also took the recipe with photos step by step.

Recipe for lazy cabbage rolls in the oven (photo step by step)
1. Preparation of products for minced meat.
1) Stuffing for lazy darlings consists of six main ingredients. Let's start with rice. While it's cooking, let's assemble everything else. Pour rice into a saucepan. We rinse. This is usually done in three waters. But my rice is washed in 10-15 waters. Then add a glass of water to the rice, put it on the stove, and bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer uncovered until all the water has evaporated. In the end, you will end up with exactly what you want - undercooked rice.
2) Next in line are onions and carrots. Don't neglect frying. With it, lazy cabbage rolls in the oven turn out, without exaggeration, delicious. So wash the onions and carrots, peel them and then chop the onions into smaller cubes, and grate the carrots on a medium grater. We put the vegetables in a frying pan, pour in vegetable oil, do not skimp.
And fry everything over low heat until soft. Stirring so as not to burn. This process took me exactly 12 minutes.
3) Let's move on to cabbage. We will dwell on it in more detail, since its preparation is far from the standard shredding procedure to which we are already accustomed. So first we cut off the piece we need. If your head of cabbage is the same as mine, weighing a kilogram, then separate a third, making deep slits up to the stalk.
Then we chop across the shredder to make small cubes.
If you are not sure that your cabbage will become soft while baking lazy cabbage rolls in the oven, then do the following: put the cabbage in a saucepan or bowl and pour boiling water over it.
After five minutes, drain the water, place the cabbage in a colander and squeeze it out a little more with a spoon and then with your hands.
2. Prepare minced meat for lazy cabbage rolls.
This completes the preliminary preparation of ingredients. Let's start making cabbage rolls. For these purposes, take a larger saucepan. We put the products in it according to the list:
- rice, boiled until half cooked,
- minced meat,
- chopped and steamed cabbage,
- fried onions with carrots.
Then beat in two eggs. Add 1 teaspoon of salt. Let's pepper it.
Mix vigorously. Our task is to ensure that all ingredients are mixed evenly.
3. Modeling and frying cabbage rolls.
Place the frying pan on the fire. Pour in vegetable oil. And we begin to make cabbage rolls, then placing them in a frying pan. It's easy to sculpt them. I made them small in size. I scooped up the minced meat with a tablespoon, so that it was a small heap. Then she laid it out on her palm. And she began to roll it from palm to palm until she got a smooth cutlet. Here you can see how they turned out. And there were two and a half frying pans like that.
Fry for 5 minutes on one side and the other. Don't try to fry the cabbage rolls until they brown. Aim for just a light golden color.
Place the fried lazy cabbage rolls on a baking sheet. I have it with a non-stick coating, so nothing sticks to it.
4. Prepare the sauce.
Sauce for lazy cabbage rolls in the oven is very easy to prepare. This is the easiest step in our recipe. Take tomatoes and cut them in half. Next, make three cuts on a grater over a bowl. All the skin stays in the palm of your hand and you get a lovely fresh tomato puree in the bowl.
Add sour cream to it. Mix.
9. Place a tablespoon of pink sauce on each cabbage roll. Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for half an hour.
All. Here they are, these handsome guys, already baked.
We put the lazy cabbage rolls on plates and feed the men, children and everyone else who came for the aroma.
Let's prepare the ingredients. so that everything you need is at hand.
We prepare minced meat from meat and cabbage.
To do this, we pass the ingredients through a meat grinder.
Boil the rice until half cooked in salted water, this will take 5 – 7 minutes.
Wash the rice and let it cool slightly.
Fry the onions and carrots until golden brown, cool and add to the meat.
Add rice, egg, salt, herbs, spices to the minced meat - mix everything.
Leave for 10 minutes until the salt dissolves and mix everything thoroughly again.
What a beautiful minced meat!
Form cutlets and place them in a baking dish.
The cabbage rolls can be pre-fried, the dish will be tastier, but I have real lazy cabbage rolls, so I don’t waste time on frying.
Fill our cutlets with tomato juice diluted with water.
I used store-bought vegetable juice - in addition to tomato juice, it contains sweet peppers, carrots and spices, so I did not add additional salt to the filling
If necessary, add salt to the gravy, add spices and, if desired, a couple of tablespoons of sour cream.
At 200°, bring the dish to a boil, this will take 30 minutes, and after the sauce boils, reduce the temperature to 180° degrees and simmer for another 40 minutes.
Bon appetit!
Good day everyone.
I always try to cook something unusual for my loved ones. This dish must also be healthy for my children and preferably be easy and quick to prepare. Therefore, lazy cabbage rolls always help me out in this situation, since this dish harmoniously combines meat, rice, vegetables and sauce. And my kids eat them with pleasure, whereas in classic cabbage rolls they always eat only minced meat, and I have to finish the cabbage. Of course, lazy cabbage rolls look different from real ones, but they are not inferior in taste. But I save energy and time for other useful things.
Lazy cabbage rolls are cutlets made from cabbage, minced meat and rice, baked or stewed in sauce. In the simplest version, these are not even cutlets, but cabbage, minced meat, rice and vegetables stewed in sauce. At first glance, it may seem that you can make such a dish without knowing any subtleties. However, this impression is deceptive. In order to extinguish all the components in one container, it really does not require much skill. But not everyone succeeds in preparing real lazy cabbage rolls in the form of oblong or round cutlets the first time. Knowing a few secrets will make them tasty and appetizing without unsuccessful experiments.
- It is difficult to prepare minced meat from lean meat that is viscous and dense enough to hold its shape during baking or stewing. Therefore, it is preferable to take minced pork or mixed minced meat with the addition of pork or add an egg to the minced chicken.
- Even an experienced chef cannot make something truly tasty from low-quality products. Therefore, pay attention to the composition of the minced meat, its category, production date and expiration date. It’s even better to cook it yourself from meat of which you are confident.
- It happens that cabbage is slightly bitter. In this case, you need to chop it and put it in hot water for 5 minutes, then remove it and squeeze it out.
- Rice for lazy cabbage rolls needs to be boiled until half cooked. Otherwise, it may not have time to cook and will remain hard, which will not have the best effect on the taste of the dish.
- To prevent lazy cabbage rolls from falling apart during stewing or baking, they are usually fried in a frying pan. This also has a beneficial effect on the taste of the dish.
You can cook lazy cabbage rolls in sour cream or tomato sauce. A popular recipe is using mixed sour cream and tomato sauce. The method of preparation may also be different. Some details may depend on it. Therefore, read the entire recipe first to understand how suitable this method is for you.

Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven - recipe.
Let's prepare the ingredients. Peel the onions and carrots, wash the tomatoes, and remove the top leaves from the cabbage. Rinse the rice.
Place the water in the saucepan on the fire.
After boiling, add rice to the saucepan and cook over low heat (I have 5 out of 9) for 10 minutes.
While the rice is cooking, prepare the cabbage. It needs to be finely chopped.
Pour boiling water over the cabbage for 5-10 minutes until it becomes soft and pliable for forming cutlets. Then drain the water and squeeze well.
While the cabbage is softening, prepare the minced meat. We pass the meat through a meat grinder (if you are using ready-made minced meat, it is also better to grind it once more, the cabbage rolls will turn out more tender). I grind the onion together with the minced meat (too lazy to cut), but you can chop it finely. If you are too lazy to finely chop the cabbage, you can also pass it through a meat grinder and then squeeze out the juice.
Well, the rice is already ready (you need to boil it until half cooked).
Wash the rice, but not too much so that it remains sticky. You can not rinse it, but simply cool it, but I never have time for that. Add our rice, egg, cabbage, salt and spices to the minced meat with onions.
Mix all minced meat ingredients thoroughly.
We form cutlets from the minced meat and roll them in breadcrumbs on both sides.
Place all the cutlets on a baking sheet of a suitable size (this one is small, 4 cutlets did not fit). And we send our dish to an oven preheated to 200 C.
While the lazy cabbage rolls are simmering in the oven, prepare the sauce. Grate the carrots, and finely chop the tomatoes and onions. Or you can grind everything in a meat grinder, as I did, this is completely for the lazy). Add salt and spices to the mixture.
Fry the prepared vegetables in a hot frying pan with oil for 5 minutes (I cook at 8 out of 9). You can also add tomato paste here, then the taste of the sauce will be a little sour.
