Who carries out testing of heating networks. Temperature tests - for what, why and how? Tests to determine thermal and hydraulic losses
Testing of heating networks can be start-up and operational. Start-up tests are carried out after the construction of new networks or overhaul. They are intended to determine the suitability of a structure for operation. During operation, sludge accumulates in pipes and equipment, pipelines corrode, protective properties thermal insulation changes. Acceptable change various characteristics structures are periodically verified by operational tests. Start-up and operational tests are divided into pressure testing, hydraulic and thermal tests and tests for maximum coolant temperature.
Crimping designed to determine the density and mechanical strength of pipelines, fittings and equipment. Start-up pressure testing of channelless networks and in non-passable channels is carried out in two stages: preliminary and final. Preliminary pressure testing is carried out as work is completed in short sections before installing gland compensators and valves on pipelines and before closing channels or backfilling trenches. The purpose of crimping is to check the strength of the weld under a test overpressure of 1.6 MPa for the time required to inspect and tap the joints. Tapping is carried out with hammers weighing 1.5 kg on a handle 500 mm long, blows are applied on both sides of the seam at a distance from the joint of approximately 150 mm.
The final pressure testing is done after all work is completed and all equipment elements are installed on the pipelines, but before thermal insulation is applied. When installing networks made of seamless pipes, thermal insulation is allowed before testing, but leaving the welded joints free from insulation. The excess pressure of crimping is brought to 1.25 P slave (P slave is the working pressure), but not less than 1.6 MPa in the supply pipelines and 1.2 MPa in the return pipelines. The duration of crimping is determined by the time required to inspect the networks.
Pressure testing of equipment at substations and heating points together with local systems is carried out in two steps. Equipment and pipelines disconnected from the network are filled with water from the city water supply, required pressure testing is created by the pressure of pressure testing pumps with manual or mechanical drive. First, the system is injected with working pressure to check the tightness of welded and flanged connections of equipment, fittings and pipelines. Then the excess pressure is brought to 1.25 of the working pressure, but not lower than the standards established for each type of equipment necessary to test the strength. The duration of testing of heating points and pipelines extending from them is assumed to be at least 10 minutes.
The results of testing networks and heating points at each stage are considered satisfactory if during testing there is no pressure drop above the established limits, and there are no ruptures, water leaks or fogging in welds, flange connections and fittings. If breaks and other damage are detected, the water is drained (from the networks within no more than 1 hour); defective seams are cut out and welded; Leaks are eliminated by tightening the bolts and changing the packing. After which the crimping is repeated. Active heating network are pressed annually at the end heating season to identify defects and after major repairs.
Hydraulic tests designed to determine actual hydraulic characteristics new network and equipment of items or changes in these characteristics during operation. During hydraulic tests, the pressure, flow and temperature of the coolant are simultaneously measured at characteristic points (places of change in diameters, water flow rates, network jumpers) of the network. At control points, standard pressure gauges, mercury thermometers with a division value of 1°C and normal measuring diaphragms are installed. Tests are carried out with heating points turned off at maximum and reduced to 80% of maximum water flows. Water circulation in networks and branches is ensured by the inclusion of end jumpers.
Pressure losses in the studied sections of the supply and return pipelines are calculated using the formula:
Where P1, P2– pressure gauge readings at the beginning and end of the section, Pa;
z 1 , z 2– geodetic marks at the points where pressure gauges are located, m;
– density of the coolant at the corresponding temperature, kg/m3.
Based on pressure measurements in the supply and return pipelines, a valid piezometric graph is constructed, and based on the water flow rates in the sections, the calculated pressure graph is determined. By comparison, the deviations of the actual and calculated piezometric graphs are determined.
Thermal tests carried out in order to determine actual heat losses in networks and compare them with calculated and standard values. The need for thermal tests is dictated by the natural destruction of thermal insulation, its replacement in certain areas, as well as changes in structures. Tests are carried out at the end of the heating season, when the entire structure of the heat pipeline and the adjacent soil are heated sufficiently evenly. Before testing, damaged insulation is restored, chambers and channels are drained, the operation of drainage devices is checked, consumers' heating points are turned off, and water is circulated through jumpers.
During the tests, the flow rates and temperatures of the coolant are measured at the beginning and end of the test section of the supply and return pipelines. A stable circulation mode is established, in which several readings are taken every 10 minutes.
Actual specific heat losses are determined by the formulas
; (14.3)
, (14.4)
Where q f1, q f2– actual specific heat losses in the supply and return pipelines, kW/m; G 1, G p–. average consumption of network water in the supply pipeline and make-up water, respectively, kg/h; τ 11, τ 12– average water temperatures at the beginning and end of the supply pipeline, °C; τ 21, τ 22– the same, return pipeline; l– length of the section, m.
By comparing actual heat losses with calculated ones, the quality of insulation is determined. To compare with standard losses, actual heat losses are recalculated based on the average annual water temperatures in the supply and return pipelines and average annual temperature environment. Thermal losses of steam pipelines are determined by changes in enthalpy, steam humidity and the amount of condensate that falls. Thermal and hydraulic tests networks are carried out after 3–4 years.
Tests for maximum coolant temperature carried out in order to monitor the reliability of the structure, the operation of compensators, the displacement of supports, to determine the actual stresses and deformations of the most loaded network elements. Tests are carried out every two years at the end of the heating season with consumers turned off and coolant circulating through the end jumpers.
During the test period, the coolant temperature increases at a rate of 30°C per hour at the end points of the network Maximum temperature kept for at least 30 minutes.
As the pipelines heat up, the movements of fixed points on the pipes, U-shaped arms and sleeves of the stuffing box expansion joints are measured at certain time intervals. The actual movements of network elements are compared with the calculated ones and the actual voltages at characteristic points are established from them. If the difference between the calculated and actual elongations of pipelines exceeds 25% of the calculated elongation, then a search should be made for places where pipes are pinched, subsidence or displacement of fixed supports and other reasons that caused this difference.
There are 4 types of testing of heating networks:
- For strength and tightness (crimping). Performed at the manufacturing stage before applying insulation. When used annually.
- At design temperature. Carried out: to check the operation of compensators and fix their working position, to determine the integrity of fixed supports (1 time every 2 years). Tests are carried out during the manufacture of networks before applying insulation.
- Hydraulic. They are carried out to determine: the actual water consumption of consumers, the actual hydraulic characteristics of the pipeline and to identify areas with increased hydraulic resistance (once every 3-4 years).
- Thermal tests. To determine actual heat losses (once every 3-4 years). Tests are carried out according to the following dependence:
Q = cG(t 1 - t 2) £ Q norms = q l *l,
where q l is the heat loss of 1 m of pipeline, determined according to SNiP “Thermal insulation of pipelines and equipment”.
Heat losses are determined by the temperature at the end of the section.
Strength and tightness tests.
There are 2 types of tests:
- Hydraulic.
- Pneumatic. Checked at t n<0 и невозможности подогрева воды и при её отсутствии.
Hydraulic tests.
Instruments: 2 pressure gauges (working and control) class higher than 1.5%, pressure gauge diameter not lower than 160 mm, scale 4/3 of the test pressure.
Order of conduct:
- Disconnect the test area with plugs. Replace the stuffing box expansion joints with plugs or inserts. Open all bypass lines and valves unless they can be replaced with plugs.
- The test pressure is set = 1.25 P slave, but not more than the working pressure of the pipeline P y. Exposure 10 minutes.
- The pressure is reduced to operating pressure, and inspection is carried out at this pressure. Leaks are monitored by: pressure drop on the pressure gauge, obvious leaks, characteristic noise, fogging of the pipe. At the same time, the position of the pipelines on the supports is monitored.
Pneumatic tests It is prohibited to carry out for: Overhead pipelines; When combined with other communications.
During testing, it is prohibited to test cast iron fittings. It is allowed to test fittings made of ductile cast iron at low pressures.
Instruments: 2 pressure gauges, pressure source - compressor.
- Filling at a rate of 0.3 MPa/hour.
- Visual inspection at pressure P ≤ 0.3P tested. , but not more than 0.3 MPa. R use = 1.25 R work.
- The pressure rises to P tested, but not more than 0.3 MPa. Exposure 30 min.
- Reducing pressure to P slave, inspection. Leaks are determined by the following signs: a decrease in pressure on pressure gauges, noise, bubbling of a soap solution.
Safety precautions:
- during the inspection it is prohibited to go down into the trench;
- Do not get exposed to air flow.
Design Temperature Tests
Heating networks with d ≥100mm are tested. In this case, the design temperature in the supply pipeline and in the return pipe should not exceed 100 0 C. The design temperature is maintained for 30 minutes, while the increase and decrease in temperature should not be more than 30 0 C / hour. This type of test is carried out after the networks have been pressure tested and breaks have been eliminated.
Tests to determine thermal and hydraulic losses
This test is carried out on a circulation circuit consisting of supply and return lines and a jumper between them, all branches of the branch are disconnected. In this case, the decrease in temperature along the ring is caused only by heat losses of the pipelines. The test time is 2t to + (10-12 hours), t to is the travel time of the temperature wave along the ring. Temperature wave - an increase in temperature by 10-20 0 C above the test temperature along the entire length of the temperature ring, is established by observers and the temperature change is recorded.
The test for hydraulic losses is carried out in two modes: at maximum flow and 80% of the maximum. For each mode, at least 15 readings must be taken with an interval of 5 minutes.
There is a launcher and a user testing of heating networks. It is divided into pressure testing, hydro- and heat testing, as well as testing for the highest temperature of the coolant. Pressure testing is necessary to establish the density and mechanical strength of the pipe route, fittings, and equipment.
Start-up crimping of ductless lines, also in non-through passages, is carried out in 2 stages - initially and finally. Its duration is determined by the period required to survey the lines.

Hydrotests are needed to establish the actual hydroindications of a new line and equip points or transform these values when used. During this testing, p is simultaneously transformed, waste along with t of the coolant in certain segments of the heating network. Based on the measurement values p in the supply and return pipelines, the actual piezometric mode is built, and based on the liquid waste in places, the calculation mode p is established. The differences between the specific and calculated piezometric modes are formed by comparison.
Thermal tests are needed to determine the actual heat losses in the lines and compare them with calculated and standardized readings. The need for this testing is dictated by the usual damage to thermal insulation, its replacement in separate places, and also by transformations of buildings. During testing, the waste and t of the coolant at the base and end of the investigated part of the delivery and return pipelines are replaced.
Testing at the highest temperature of the coolant is carried out to audit the practicality of buildings, the performance of correctors, the displacement of risers, to identify real stresses and distortions of the more loaded parts of the heating line.
Heating mains are also tested for strength and impermeability. They are performed both on separate segments and on the general line in general. When performing these tests, client devices must be turned off, and they are also tested separately.
- Testing can be carried out on water and steam heating lines for heat consumption.
- Testing of water heating lines for hydraulic flows.
In addition, it is possible to do:
- Analysis of the probability of “stray” currents (electrical transformation to identify the corrosive activity of soils and the dangerous impact of “stray” currents on the pipelines of heating networks underground);
- Analysis of the highest temperature of the coolant;
Calculate the cost of testing the heating network for you
Testing to identify heat losses in heating lines should be carried out once every five-year period on routes characteristic of this heating network according to the class of insulating structures being erected, shelf life and use situations, to prepare energy readings and standardize user heat losses, in addition to analyzing the technical position of heating lines. The results of these tests are used to standardize the operating costs of heat energy, also taken into account:
- When determining an economically justified payment for performing a service when supplying heat;
- When preparing regulatory energy indicators for heating lines;
- When determining in heat supply contracts the values of heat energy properties at the lines of responsibility with heat energy subscribers;
- For commercial energy calculations;
- When testing the effectiveness of energy release procedures, and also during methodological energy surveys;
- During testing of the technical position of thermal insulation structures of heating pipelines;
Heating networks can also be tested using calculated t.
Cost of testing heating networks
Heating networks with a diameter of less than 10 cm are analyzed. Here, the supply pipe route must have a calculated t, and the “return” must have no more than 100 g. Celsius. The temperature itself is maintained after half an hour, but the increase and decrease in temperature must be more than thirty degrees. Celsius per hour. This testing is carried out after crimping the lines and removing breakthroughs.
And finally, a test to establish the heat and hydraulic flow rates of heating networks.
This testing takes place on a rotating circuit, which consists of a delivery and return network and a jumper between them; all clients of the branches are disconnected. Here, the decrease in t along the flow along the ring occurs only through heat waste from the pipe lines. The testing period is a certain period of travel t of the flow along the ring.
T flow - increase it by 10-25 g. Celsius greater than the one being tested over the entire distance of a given ring is determined by contemplatives and the transformation t is fixed.
Testing for hydraulic flow takes place on 2 levels: as a result of the largest flow rate and 80 points from the largest. For each of the routines, at least fifteen indicators should be taken with an interval of five minutes.
