The end of October is gray and cold all days. October is the time of golden autumn and cold rains
Great ones about poetry:
Poetry is like painting: some works will captivate you more if you look at them closely, and others if you move further away.
Small cutesy poems irritate the nerves more than the creaking of unoiled wheels.
The most valuable thing in life and in poetry is what has gone wrong.
Marina Tsvetaeva
Of all the arts, poetry is the most susceptible to the temptation to replace its own peculiar beauty with stolen splendors.
Humboldt V.
Poems are successful if they are created with spiritual clarity.
The writing of poetry is closer to worship than is usually believed.
If only you knew from what rubbish poems grow without shame... Like a dandelion on a fence, like burdocks and quinoa.
A. A. Akhmatova
Poetry is not only in verses: it is poured out everywhere, it is all around us. Look at these trees, at this sky - beauty and life emanate from everywhere, and where there is beauty and life, there is poetry.
I. S. Turgenev
For many people, writing poetry is a growing pain of the mind.
G. Lichtenberg
A beautiful verse is like a bow drawn through the sonorous fibers of our being. The poet makes our thoughts sing within us, not our own. By telling us about the woman he loves, he delightfully awakens in our souls our love and our sorrow. He's a magician. By understanding him, we become poets like him.
Where graceful poetry flows, there is no room for vanity.
Murasaki Shikibu
I turn to Russian versification. I think that over time we will turn to blank verse. There are too few rhymes in the Russian language. One calls the other. The flame inevitably drags the stone behind it. It is through feeling that art certainly emerges. Who is not tired of love and blood, difficult and wonderful, faithful and hypocritical, and so on.
Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin
-...Are your poems good, tell me yourself?
- Monstrous! – Ivan suddenly said boldly and frankly.
- Do not write anymore! – the newcomer asked pleadingly.
- I promise and swear! - Ivan said solemnly...
Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov. "Master and Margarita"
We all write poetry; poets differ from others only in that they write in their words.
John Fowles. "The French Lieutenant's Mistress"
Every poem is a veil stretched over the edges of a few words. These words shine like stars, and because of them the poem exists.
Alexander Alexandrovich Blok
Ancient poets, unlike modern ones, rarely wrote more than a dozen poems during their long lives. This is understandable: they were all excellent magicians and did not like to waste themselves on trifles. Therefore, behind each poetic work of those times, a whole Universe was certainly hidden, filled with miracles - often dangerous for those who carelessly awaken the dozing lines.
Max Fry. "Chatty Dead"
I gave one of my clumsy hippopotamuses this heavenly tail:...
Mayakovsky! Your poems do not warm, do not excite, do not infect!
- My poems are not a stove, not a sea, and not a plague!
Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky
Poems are our inner music, clothed in words, permeated with thin strings of meanings and dreams, and therefore, drive away the critics. They are just pathetic sippers of poetry. What can a critic say about the depths of your soul? Don't let his vulgar groping hands in there. Let poetry seem to him like an absurd moo, a chaotic pile-up of words. For us, this is a song of freedom from a boring mind, a glorious song sounding on the snow-white slopes of our amazing soul.
Boris Krieger. "A Thousand Lives"
Poems are the thrill of the heart, the excitement of the soul and tears. And tears are nothing more than pure poetry, who rejected the word.

There is snow on Sergius, then on Michaelmas Day (11/21) it will be winter. The first snow will fall 40 days before winter. If snowflakes appear, then winter will appear in all its glory on Michaelmas Day, November 21st.
October 9 – John. If it rains with snow on this day, in January (13.01-14.02) expect strong thaws three times; sunny and warm – July will be rainy and cold. It's time to finish winter sowing. The last day for installing hives in Omshanik. If there is snow on John, then it is winter 11/21. will get up.
October 14 - On Pokrov, the wind from the north will lead to a cold winter, from the south to a warm winter, from the west to a snowy one, from the east to cold and little snow, and if the wind blows in gusts, the clouds will completely cover, then the sun will peek through gaps - it will be a variable, fickle winter .
If snow fell on Pokrov, then it will certainly snow on Dmitri’s Day (8.11). As is the Veil, so is winter. If the day is clear - to long autumn, if there is no snow, don’t wait for it until 21.11. It’s good for the harvest if there is snow before the Intercession. In Siberia, the grain harvest ended only at Intercession. The end of leaf fall. The Intercession did not cover, and neither will Christmas (little snow cover). Rainy Cover brings grace to the bees. Weddings began with the Intercession.
17 October . First winter. From Erofei, winter puts on a fur coat; on this day, only one “erofeiich” (new wine) warms. All day long the wind howls through the forests.
October 20 – Sergius Zimny. If Sergius covers it with snow, then from November Matryona (11/22) winter will return to its feet. Winter begins with Sergius. Sergius beats the grass with frost, but Matryona does not allow winter to turn back on November 22. The first lasting snow falls overnight. If the weather is good, then it will stand for three weeks (until November 10).
October 21 – Pelageya and Tryphon. Chills.“It’s getting colder from Tryphon and Pelagia.” It has long been considered a cold day in folk meteorology. Tryfon is mending a fur coat, Pelageya is sewing mittens.
October 22 – Yakov – wood sawyer. Jacob, brother of God, will send a grain. It's time to prepare firewood. The earth cools down, and sometimes the sleigh path is established.
October 23 – Evlampius – winter indicator. Evlampius is a winter indicator. If there is mud and slush on Evlampiya, October is muddy all the way to Kazanskaya (4.11), autumn will not wash itself with snow, it will not dress up in a white sundress. Take a close look at the flawed Moon; the horns of the month point to the side where the winds come from. If the horns of the month are on Eulampia at midnight (north), then blizzards with snow will blow from there and winter will come soon and lie dry; if at noon (south) - don’t expect winter to come soon, there will be slush and dirt all the way to Kazanskaya 4.11. Late leaf fall means a difficult year.
October 24. That night they watched the stars and used them to tell fortunes about the weather and the harvest: blinking meant a change in the weather, glowing meant winds and a dry year. Many bright stars in the sky - for the harvest next year. Bright stars to frost and a good harvest in the summer garden; dull - to the thaw.
October 27 – Paraskaveya Gryaznikha. If damp, then until dry snow ( real winter) there are still 4 weeks left (11/24). Bright stars on Paraskeva - to a good harvest. It’s never dry on Gryaznukha – there’s a thaw. On Gryaznukha there is mud - four shifts until winter (the weather changes 4 times). Dry and windy - next year the summer will be dry and not particularly productive, but if it rains and it’s quiet - the harvest will be rich.
