Biography
Spock was born in Earth year 2230 on the planet Vulcan to the Vulcan family Sarek and his Earthling wife Amanda Grayson. Spock himself considered himself a full-fledged Vulcan, but the internal conflict based on his dual origin periodically made itself felt. He has green blood and blood type T-negative.
Spock had a brother, Sybok, who eschewed logic and was expelled from Vulcan for such “heresy” (he was killed in the feature film “Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier”).
In 2267, Spock was inducted into the Vulcan Scientific Legion of Honor and qualified as an A7 computer specialist.
It is known that Spock became the first Vulcan to begin a career in Starfleet, despite the objections of his father, who wanted his son to attend the Vulcan Science Academy. However, Spock, having become interested in the computers that were equipped with Starfleet starships, decided differently, and when Captain Christopher Pike offered him a place on the starship Enterprise, Spock happily agreed. He was assigned the personal number S179-276. Like most Vulcans, Spock is a vegetarian and does not drink, but he enjoys Romulan ale.
Spock served under Captain Pike for almost eleven years. According to a number of sources, during this time he was promoted to lieutenant and then to lieutenant commander.
Under the command of the Enterprise's next captain, James Tiberius Kirk, Spock served on the Enterprise in two capacities simultaneously: as first mate and as science officer. In Earth year 2267, Spock receives the rank of commander. And three years later, in 2270, Spock returned to Vulcan to study the discipline of "kolinar" (eng. Kolinahr).
In 2271, Spock returned to Starfleet and was reinstated to service with the rank of commander and research fellow on the starship Enterprise.
During the Widger Crisis, in which First Officer Williard Dekker was killed, Spock resumed his post as first officer, which he combined with the position of research assistant.
A few years later, Spock was promoted to captain and appointed captain of the Enterprise, while Captain Kirk was promoted to admiral and transferred to Starfleet headquarters. In 2285, Spock, according to orders from Starfleet headquarters, temporarily gave up the captain's chair to Admiral Kirk for the starship's participation in research strange events at the Regula research station (the film "Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan"), which ended in a battle with Khan Noonien Singh. In this battle, Spock dies while saving the Enterprise.
However, Spock's biography does not end there. Before his death, Spock, using Vulcan knowledge, transferred his "katra" - spiritual essence - to Doctor McCoy. Spock’s body, after a cosmic funeral, ended up on the Genesis planet and, due to its characteristics, returned to life (the film “Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock”).
Captain Kirk, disobeying orders from Starfleet, hijacked the Enterprise and returned Spock's body to Vulcan, where in one of the temples, with the help of a special ritual, Spock's spiritual component - katra - was connected to his body. After his resurrection, Spock underwent an accelerated Starfleet officer training program and was reinstated to the rank of commander, and the amnesia that tormented him soon disappeared.
In 2286, Spock transferred to the new Enterprise NCC-1701-A as first officer, while retaining the rank of captain. During the starship's five-year mission, he took part in a trip to the center of the Milky Way (the film "Star Trek 5: The Final Frontier").
After the explosion of the Klingon moon Praxis in 2291, Spock's father Sarek recruited him to participate in negotiations between the United Federation of Planets and the Klingon Empire. Upon arriving at his ship after negotiations aboard the Enterprise, Klingon Chancellor Gorkon was killed. The Klingons blamed Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy, who were arrested by Klingon authorities. Spock took command of the starship and forcibly freed his colleagues from captivity. Subsequently, Spock became key figure in forming a long-lasting alliance with the Klingon Empire (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country) and began a long-lasting friendship with the Romulan Chancellor Pardek.
After the decommissioning of the Enterprise NCC-1701-A, Spock retired from the Navy and focused his efforts on diplomacy, and virtually nothing is known about the next seventy to seventy-five years of his life - Spock does not appear in events involving Starfleet. It is assumed that he got married, as Captain Jean-Luc Picard once said that he was present at the wedding of Sarek's son, but it is not directly specified who he is talking about.
In 2368 - already during the events of the series "Star Trek: The Next Generation" - Spock was the Federation ambassador to Romulus (the central planet of the Romulan Empire), where he tried to establish an alliance between the Romulan Empire and Vulcan, but he was unable to do this directly due to - for betrayals within the Empire, so he remained on Romulus to help the already established small movement in enlightenment into Vulcan philosophy.
Background
Spock is the only character to appear not only in all 79 episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series, but also in the pilot episode "The Cage".
Cultural influence
- Spock is the idol of the main character of the television series The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon Cooper.
- In the movie "Boomerang" main character says Spock's last name is Jenkins.
- In the series Doctor Who, the Doctor's companion Rose asks the Doctor to be at least a little like Spock (season 1, episode 9, The Empty Child).
- In Stephen King's The Langoliers, Nick Hopewell tells Craig Toomey during a confrontation on an airplane to calm down or else he will perform "Mr. Spock's famous sleep hold."
- In the science fiction film The Running Man, the leader of the Resistance says the phrase “Connect to the power grid, Mister Spock, and take control of the ship.” The second character, looking at the leader in surprise, asks: “Who is Mister Spock?” (84th minute of the film).
- In the movie "The Boondock Saints" there is a scene in a bar: - I am Ivan Chekhov, and your establishment is closed! - Chekhov? Well, this is McCoy; Let's find Spock - and there will be a complete set.
- In the episode "The Hounds of Baskerville" of the TV series "Sherlock" there is a scene in which John Watson calls Sherlock Spock. It is noteworthy that a minute earlier Sherlock quotes famous phrase Conan Doyle: “Throw away all the impossible, what remains is the answer, no matter how improbable it may seem,” which Spock also said three times: in an episode of Star Trek: The Original Series, in the film and in the film Star Trek (2009).
- The name of the American progressive rock band Spock's Beard translates as "Spock's Beard." It was invented by the band's founders Neal Morse and his brother Alan after one party when Alan told his brother: “It's like we were in another universe , just like that episode of Star Trek where Spock had a beard.”
- In the book " Mysterious story Billy Milligan" one of the personalities - the British Arthur - is compared to Mr. Spock.

Excerpt describing Spock
It was necessary to walk to the Ilaginsky eel through fields. The hunters straightened out. The gentlemen rode together. Uncle, Rostov, Ilagin secretly glanced at other people's dogs, trying so that others would not notice, and anxiously looked for rivals for their dogs among these dogs.Rostov was especially struck by her beauty by a small pure-dog, narrow, but with steel muscles, a thin muzzle and bulging black eyes, a red-spotted bitch in Ilagin’s pack. He had heard about the agility of the Ilagin dogs, and in this beautiful bitch he saw his Milka’s rival.
In the middle of a sedate conversation about the harvest this year, which Ilagin started, Nikolai pointed out to him his red-spotted bitch.
- This bitch is good! – he said in a casual tone. - Rezva?
- This? Yes, this is a good dog, it catches,” Ilagin said in an indifferent voice about his red-spotted Erza, for which a year ago he gave his neighbor three families of servants. “So you, Count, don’t boast about threshing?” – he continued the conversation he had started. And considering it polite to repay the young count in kind, Ilagin examined his dogs and chose Milka, who caught his eye with her width.
- This black-spotted one is good - okay! - he said.
“Yes, nothing, he’s jumping,” answered Nikolai. “If only a seasoned hare ran into the field, I would show you what kind of dog this is!” he thought, and turning to the stirrup man said that he would give a ruble to anyone who suspected, that is, found a lying hare.
“I don’t understand,” continued Ilagin, “how other hunters are envious of the beast and the dogs.” I'll tell you about myself, Count. It makes me happy, you know, to take a ride; Now you’ll get together with such a company... what’s better (he again took off his beaver cap in front of Natasha); and this is to count the skins, how many I brought - I don’t care!
- Well, yes.
- Or so that I would be offended that someone else’s dog catches it, and not mine - I just want to admire the baiting, right, Count? Then I judge...
“Atu - him,” a drawn-out cry was heard at that time from one of the stopped Greyhounds. He stood on a half-mound of stubble, raising his arapnik, and once again repeated in a drawn-out manner: “A—tu—him!” (This sound and the raised arapnik meant that he saw a hare lying in front of him.)
“Oh, I suspected it,” Ilagin said casually. - Well, let's poison him, Count!
- Yes, we need to drive up... yes - well, together? - Nikolai answered, peering at Erza and the red Scolding uncle, two of his rivals with whom he had never managed to match his dogs. “Well, they’ll cut my Milka out of my ears!” he thought, moving towards the hare next to his uncle and Ilagin.
- Seasoned? - Ilagin asked, moving towards the suspicious hunter, and not without excitement, looking around and whistling to Erza...
- And you, Mikhail Nikanorych? - he turned to his uncle.
The uncle rode frowning.
- Why should I meddle, because yours are pure marching! - in the village they pay for the dog, your thousands. You try on yours, and I’ll take a look!
- Scold! On, on,” he shouted. - Swearing! - he added, involuntarily using this diminutive to express his tenderness and hope placed in this red dog. Natasha saw and felt the excitement hidden by these two old men and her brother and was worried herself.
The hunter stood on the half-hill with a raised arapnik, the gentlemen approached him at a step; the hounds, walking on the very horizon, turned away from the hare; the hunters, not the gentlemen, also drove away. Everything moved slowly and sedately.
-Where is your head lying? - Nikolai asked, approaching a hundred paces towards the suspicious hunter. But before the hunter had time to answer, the hare, sensing the frost by tomorrow morning, could not stand still and jumped up. A pack of hounds on bows, with a roar, rushed downhill after the hare; from all sides the greyhounds, who were not in the pack, rushed at the hounds and the hare. All these slowly moving hunters are screaming: stop! knocking down the dogs, the greyhounds shout: atu! guiding the dogs, they galloped across the field. Calm Ilagin, Nikolai, Natasha and uncle flew, not knowing how or where, seeing only dogs and a hare, and only fearing to lose sight of the course of the persecution even for a moment. The hare was seasoned and playful. Jumping up, he did not immediately gallop, but moved his ears, listening to the screaming and stomping that suddenly came from all sides. He jumped ten times slowly, allowing the dogs to approach him, and finally, having chosen the direction and realizing the danger, he put his ears to the ground and rushed at full speed. He lay on the stubble, but in front there were green fields through which it was muddy. The two dogs of the suspicious hunter, who were closest to everyone, were the first to look and lay after the hare; but they had not yet moved far towards him, when the Ilaginskaya red-spotted Erza flew out from behind them, approached a dog's distance, with terrible speed attacked, aiming at the hare's tail and thinking that she had grabbed it, rolled head over heels. The hare arched his back and kicked even harder. Wide-bottomed, black-spotted Milka came out from behind Erza and quickly began to sing to the hare.
- Honey! mother! – Nikolai’s triumphant cry was heard. It seemed that Milka would strike and catch the hare, but she caught up and rushed past. The Rusak moved away. The beautiful Erza swooped in again and hung over the hare’s very tail, as if trying to grab him by the back thigh so as not to make a mistake now.
- Erzanka! sister! – Ilagin’s voice was heard crying, not his own. Erza did not heed his pleas. At the very moment when one should have expected her to grab the hare, he whirled and rolled out to the line between the greenery and the stubble. Again Erza and Milka, like a pair of drawbars, aligned themselves and began to sing to the hare; at the turn it was easier for the hare; the dogs did not approach him so quickly.
- Scold! Swearing! Pure march! - shouted at that time another new voice, and Rugai, his uncle’s red, humpbacked dog, stretching out and arching his back, caught up with the first two dogs, moved out from behind them, kicked with terrible selflessness right over the hare, knocked him off the line onto the green, Another time he pushed even harder through the dirty greens, drowning up to his knees, and you could only see how he rolled head over heels, getting his back dirty in the mud, with the hare. The star of dogs surrounded him. A minute later everyone was standing near the crowded dogs. One happy uncle got down and walked away. Shaking the hare so that the blood would drain, he looked around anxiously, running his eyes, unable to find a position for his arms and legs, and spoke, not knowing with whom or what.
“This is a matter of march... here is a dog... here he pulled out everyone, both thousandths and rubles - a pure matter of march!” he said, gasping for breath and looking around angrily, as if scolding someone, as if everyone were his enemies, everyone had offended him, and only now he finally managed to justify himself. “Here are the thousandths for you - a pure march!”
- Scold me, fuck off! - he said, throwing the cut-off paw with the earth stuck on it; – deserved it – pure march!
“She pulled out all the stops, gave three runs on her own,” Nikolai said, also not listening to anyone, and not caring whether they listened to him or not.
- What the hell is this! - said Ilaginsky the stirrup.
“Yes, as soon as she stopped short, every mongrel will catch you from stealing,” said Ilagin at the same time, red-faced, barely catching his breath from the galloping and excitement. At the same time, Natasha, without taking a breath, squealed joyfully and enthusiastically so shrilly that her ears were ringing. With this screech she expressed everything that other hunters also expressed in their one-time conversation. And this squeal was so strange that she herself should have been ashamed of this wild squeal and everyone should have been surprised by it if it had been at another time.
The uncle himself pulled the hare back, deftly and smartly threw him over the back of the horse, as if reproaching everyone with this throwing, and with such an air that he didn’t even want to talk to anyone, sat on his kaurago and rode away. Everyone except him, sad and offended, left and only long after could they return to their former pretense of indifference. For a long time they looked at the red Rugay, who, with his hunchbacked back and dirt stained, rattling his iron, with the calm look of a winner, walked behind the legs of his uncle’s horse.
“Well, I’m the same as everyone else when it comes to bullying. Well, just hang in there!” It seemed to Nikolai that the appearance of this dog spoke.
When, long after, the uncle drove up to Nikolai and spoke to him, Nikolai was flattered that his uncle, after everything that had happened, still deigned to speak with him.
When Ilagin said goodbye to Nikolai in the evening, Nikolai found himself at such a far distance from home that he accepted his uncle’s offer to leave the hunt to spend the night with him (with his uncle), in his village of Mikhailovka.
- And if they came to see me, it would be a pure march! - said the uncle, even better; you see, the weather is wet, the uncle said, if we could rest, the countess would be taken in a droshky. “Uncle’s proposal was accepted, a hunter was sent to Otradnoye for the droshky; and Nikolai, Natasha and Petya went to see their uncle.
About five people, large and small, courtyard men ran out onto the front porch to meet the master. Dozens of women, old, big and small, leaned out from the back porch to watch the approaching hunters. The presence of Natasha, a woman, a lady on horseback, brought the curiosity of the uncle's servants to such limits that many, not embarrassed by her presence, came up to her, looked into her eyes and in her presence made their comments about her, as if about a miracle being shown, which is not a person, and cannot hear or understand what is said about him.
- Arinka, look, she’s sitting on her side! She sits herself, and the hem dangles... Look at the horn!
- Father of the world, that knife...
- Look, Tatar!
- How come you didn’t somersault? – said the bravest one, directly addressing Natasha.
The uncle got off his horse at the porch of his wooden house overgrown with a garden and, looking around at his household, shouted imperiously that the extra ones should leave and that everything necessary for receiving guests and hunting would be done.
Everything ran away. Uncle took Natasha off the horse and led her by the hand along the shaky plank steps of the porch. The house, unplastered, with log walls, was not very clean - it was not clear that the purpose of the people living was to keep it stain-free, but there was no noticeable neglect.
It smelled in the hallway fresh apples, and wolf and fox skins hung. Through the front hall the uncle led his guests into a small hall with a folding table and red chairs, then into a living room with a birch round table and a sofa, then into an office with a torn sofa, a worn carpet and with portraits of Suvorov, the owner’s father and mother and himself in a military uniform. There was a strong smell of tobacco and dogs in the office. In the office, the uncle asked the guests to sit down and make themselves at home, and he himself left. Scolding, his back not cleaned, entered the office and lay down on the sofa, cleaning himself with his tongue and teeth. From the office there was a corridor in which screens with torn curtains could be seen. Women's laughter and whispers could be heard from behind the screens. Natasha, Nikolai and Petya undressed and sat on the sofa. Petya leaned on his arm and immediately fell asleep; Natasha and Nikolai sat in silence. Their faces were burning, they were very hungry and very cheerful. They looked at each other (after the hunt, in the room, Nikolai no longer considered it necessary to show his male superiority in front of his sister); Natasha winked at her brother, and both did not hold back for long and laughed loudly, not yet having time to think of an excuse for their laughter.
A little later, the uncle came in wearing a Cossack jacket, blue trousers and small boots. And Natasha felt that this very suit, in which she had seen her uncle in Otradnoye with surprise and mockery, was real suit, which was no worse than frock coats and tails. Uncle was also cheerful; Not only was he not offended by the laughter of his brother and sister (it could not enter his head that they could laugh at his life), but he himself joined in their causeless laughter.
“My captain is an idiot,” is one of the last reasonable fragments of thoughts flashing through Commander Spock’s head.
It is through the fault of this irrepressible blue-eyed optimist that they are now forced to try to hide on the plains of one of the planets of the Alpha Pisces constellation. Apparently, Scotty's transporter malfunctioned and recognized the double star, called Alrisha*, as an ordinary one. And now neither James nor Spock have the slightest idea of where they are now.
And it all started quite peacefully...
James Kirk walked slowly and sweepingly along the captain's bridge, gnawing on a red barrel juicy apple and with a bit of pathos ranted to the team:
We are on a research mission, after all! But lately All we do is jump from one end of the galaxy to the other, trying to stop the next team of poachers or save this insignificant world. It sounds great, of course, but I didn’t sign up to be a superhero. Come on, Sulu, tell me,” the captain turned sharply on his heels towards the helmsman, “when we last time landed on the planet precisely for the purpose for which, in fact, we roam the expanses of space on the orders of Starfleet?
Sulu began to rummage through his memory, trying to tell the captain the exact date, but he took advantage of this hesitation and turned it to his advantage:
That's it, that's exactly what I wanted to prove! It’s decided, we’ll land on... - Kirk ran his finger along the map, choosing a point - on the planet Alrisha, which is in the constellation Alpha Pisces.
Execute.
Arguing with the captain when he had decided something was an absolutely futile endeavor. Having exchanged understanding and sympathetic glances, everyone scattered to their places to carry out the order.
“We’re there, sir,” Sulu reported a few minutes later. – Dangerous forms no living organisms were found.
Spock approached Jim and quietly asked:
Captain, I assume you have no intention of reconsidering your decision?
No, Mister Spock, I don’t intend to,” Jim was already climbing onto the transporter platform, simultaneously fastening the numerous fasteners on his suit.
Then allow me to accompany you on this mission.
Yeah, but who should we leave the Enterprise to?
The senior in rank after me is Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott, besides him there is Sulu, who has already proven his abilities as an acting captain more than once.
Kirk stood with an expression of complete indifference on his face. Probably with the same look as a child, he listened to his stepfather’s lectures after another devastating prank. Spock brought out the heavy artillery:
Let me remind you of one point from the Starfleet Charter, which states that the captain has no right to leave the ship...
“How tired you are with your Charter,” Kirk interrupted. - In these backyards great empire no one will know.
That’s right,” the first mate made his last attempt, “if something happens, no one will know.” You're not actually going to go there alone, are you? This would be in highest degree reckless and would allow me to...
Okay, okay,” Kirk winced. Spock was a wonderful comrade, but such moralizing irritated the captain greatly. “Get ready, we’ll go down together.” Scotty, you're in charge.
During materialization, they were shaken violently - apparently, at that moment the transporter made a fatal mistake and threw Jim and Spock onto the smaller of the planets of the constellation. Well, by at least, Kirk himself assumed so, but no one knew for sure - communication with the ship was interrupted immediately. The surface was strikingly different from what the captain saw on the radar. The planet itself was tiny and, due to its size, not at all hot. And Sulu noticeably blundered with his testimony - not even twenty minutes had passed before several figures appeared on the horizon, completely wrapped in baggy clothes and with weapons at the ready.
“We are researchers,” Jim reminded and very unwisely rose to his full height, heading towards them.
Captain, I wouldn't advise you...
Spoooo,” Jim sang soothingly, “I told you, we’re just explorers!” We don’t even have weapons as such, and we certainly don’t carry them at the ready.
That’s exactly what scares me,” the commander noted. - Just look at them.
The remark was very reasonable, but a little late. The locals were clearly unfriendly, pointing phaser pistols directly at the smiling Kirk.
Captain! – Spock had only time to shout, knocking Jim to the ground a moment before a friendly volley was heard. The vaunted Vulcan reaction did not disappoint.
Without interrupting the fire, the people moved forward in a single line, and Kirk, finally recovering from shock, expressed himself in not entirely censored words. It was here that Spock mentally praised himself for his foresight - as if he sensed that he shouldn’t let the irrepressible commander go alone. In short dashes, during which Jim, continuing to swear, furiously fired back at the attackers, and Spock literally dragged him on himself from one large boulder to the next hole, which could serve as a shelter, he was slashed with pain a couple of times on his shoulder and right side. Ignoring the pain, Spock ran on, pressing his hand over the wound on his stomach. Jim stopped his useless attempts to shoot back and, abruptly changing direction, pulled Spock deeper into the cave that just happened to get in their way.
The raid passed by - either the attackers decided that with uninvited guests it was over, or they simply didn’t notice where they had disappeared to.
Spock lay on the dirt floor of the cave, knees drawn up to his stomach, covering his wounds with his hands. The shock had passed, and now the pain was throbbing, intensifying with every minute, with every drop of blood that leaked out. One beam tangentially touched the shoulder, never reaching the bone, but the second shot deep into the right side, causing great concern. Having hastily unbuttoned his protective suit, Kirk was horrified: Spock's once blue uniform shirt had acquired a dark green color, having abundantly absorbed blood. He growled and twitched in pain as the captain tried to stop the bleeding with improvised means.
An hour and a half had already passed since they were in a dark, damp cave. The blood stopped, but it didn’t make it any easier - Spock lay on the floor unconscious, pale, covered in sticky cold sweat and with terrible chills. During this time, Jim managed to remember all the curses he knew in all languages, cursing himself for the arrogance that could now cost his first mate his life. No matter how strong and resilient the Vulcans are, Spock is still half human, and even with such blood loss, the chances of survival drop sharply. Remembering the commander's love for all sorts of probability calculations, Kirk felt even more guilty. I wonder what Spock would say is his chance of survival now? Perhaps no higher than 5-7 percent. Hmm, sad statistics... And, as luck would have it, there is no connection with the Enterprise... Jim thought that for sure, if we get to open area, he could somehow catch the signal, but it was unsafe there, and he was afraid to leave Spock alone for even ten minutes.
And what the hell drove me to fly to this damned planet? – he swore through his teeth, touching Spock’s forehead. Burning. But the body is shaking violently. It became really scary. It’s one thing when a battle takes place on a starship, which is familiar to everyone in its own corner, and another thing when a person who sacrificed himself to save you dies in your arms on an unfamiliar planet. To please your whim... There was no order from Starfleet to land on Alrisha, it was solely Kirk’s whim. He had gone overboard with power and now he understood it. Was Pike right again?! Just like the first time when he was so shamefully deprived of his powers as a captain. A lot of time has passed since then, has life really taught him nothing?
The communicator showed no signs of life. Out of anger, Kirk threw him against the wall, and he flew to the threshold of the cave. Despair and helplessness struck an almost physical pain in my heart. Wrapping Spock tightly in the remnants of his protective overalls, Jim hugged him tightly to himself, trying to warm him up at least a little. The hope of salvation was fading with every minute; Jim only blamed himself for what had happened. He could feel Spock's ragged breath on his neck. It’s cold, even Jim felt cold after sitting motionless for half an hour, but what is it like for a heat-loving Vulcan? Kirk hugged Spock even tighter, rocking gently from side to side. He held it like that until his breathing evened out, his cheeks, as Kirk felt with his palms, became warmer, and after a few more minutes Spock croaked in a strangled voice:
Jim... air...
“I’ll survive,” Spock continued to wheeze somewhere in his neck, “if you let me go and let me breathe.”
Oh, yes, of course. Sorry,” Jim quickly pulled away, suddenly embarrassed by the involuntary proximity.
Spock lay there, trying to catch his breath, and remained silent. He was still pale, but that worried Kirk less now. He woke up, which means his chances of survival increase significantly! What percentage can you calculate there? Remembering such a trifle, Jim smiled, but hastened to quickly drive such thoughts, inappropriate in their situation, out of his head. He heard no more words from his commander until the unfortunate communicator was brought to his senses. The Enterprise crew, having been scanning the entire space for the third hour, were already completely desperate to find the captain and his first mate alive, but, apparently, this was not the kind of death they were destined for.
Kirk to Enterprise! Find and transport us,” Jim said in a hoarse voice, hoping that they would still hear him through the interference. The transporter's beams illuminated the cave, merging the two figures into one, and within seconds Spock and Kirk were aboard the ship.
Kirk, get out of here! – McCoy hissed threateningly, flashing a dissatisfied glance towards the captain. As he liked to put it, “The sick bay is mine!” I am the king, god and military commander here!” Kirk, apparently, felt this completely legitimate power and his guilt in addition, so he hastened to retreat, continuing to receive pokes from the annoying medic. “You’ve commanded enough, now I’ll clear out your rubble.”
Once the captain and commander arrived on the ship, Bones took control of the situation. Spock, who had once again fallen into oblivion, was placed in the medical bay and connected to machines that recorded any change in his condition. Moderate, stable. Jim hung around like a snake and didn’t want to leave, no matter how hard McCoy tried to send him away. But after he learned the details of the injury and Jim’s reckless behavior, he became very angry and peremptorily pushed the captain out the door.
What do you order to do with a Vulcan who has lost a lot of blood and is in a state of shock? In an amicable way, a blood transfusion will help, but where can I get it on the spaceship? Bones didn't know either. All that remained was to hope for a powerful organism and standard medicines, the same for both people and Vulcans. Spock lay on the bed, his complexion merging with the bandages generously wrapped around his injured shoulder and body. Let the physiological indicators return to normal slowly but surely - blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature.
Narcissistic egoist! – Bones cursed gloomily, manipulating with only the instruments and life support systems that he understood. A colorless liquid dripped steadily from a flat bottle into the commander’s hand, adding drop by drop hope for salvation and life. “He hasn’t gone down to a solid surface for a long time, he hasn’t explored anything for a long time!” – he mimicked the captain. - Here, I’ve completed my research! Yes, and Spock is also good - he got into trouble.
There was tension on the bridge. Kirk silently walked in circles, answering the necessary questions in monosyllables, the alpha shift also worked silently, afraid to break the impending silence. It was unpleasant - Kirk's stupid attack, which had serious consequences, unsettled everyone. When a crew becomes a family, the pain of any member affects everyone. Everyone was afraid to look up at the captain - of course, it was Jim’s fault for almost everything that happened, but he walked with such a defeated look that one could not help but feel sorry for him. Mental self-flagellation exceeded all reasonable limits. Jim couldn't stay in his cabin - dark thoughts threatened to crush his head from the inside, but here there was at least some kind of distraction. Although, of course, it also helped little.
Spock lies in painful shock under the control of Bones, who does not want to see Kirk in his residence. Absolutely no news. They say that their absence too good news– the captain didn’t believe it. This is wrong. The lack of news in an alarming situation first pleases, then frightens, and finally leads to a fit of frenzy and rage, when you want to destroy everything around you just to hear at least something definite, no matter whether good or bad. Jim was just tired of reproaching himself, all vocabulary curses, which, believe me, he knew a lot, quickly ended, but the feeling of guilt and despair only grew and grew. The shift ended sadly. Scotty, awkwardly joking about something, suggested that the captain go to the cabin to get some rest. Jim trudged obediently, entrusting the piloting to the head of the engineering service and the faithful Sul. Walking past the medical bay, he listened, but not a single sound could be heard from behind the tightly closed doors.
Lord, may he survive! – Jim desperately pleaded. “I just want to know that he’ll just survive, I don’t need anything else!”
I couldn't sleep. The bed felt irritatingly hot and the pillow was rough as cobblestones. Kirk toiled, desperately thinking of what he could do to help Spock. Difficult task, given that in the near future the path to the medical bay is closed to him. Having thrown back the blanket, he lay with his eyes buried in the ceiling. It's hot... It's hot. Hot?! Exactly! You can raise the temperature in the medical bay! Spock loves warmth so much, maybe this will help him at least a little... At least this will allow Jim himself to drown out his feelings of guilt by 0.001 percent. He quietly slipped out of the cabin and made his way to the control panel in the engineering room. I found the right lever and turned it almost to the limit. The indicator scale quickly crawled up... At least a little, at least to help with something.
McCoy showed up in the morning.
Jim, what's going on? Chapel was on duty at night in the infirmary and noted a sharp jump in the temperature in the room. Scotty doesn't know what's going on.
What's wrong with Spock? – the captain ignored the doctor’s question.
Stable. I think he will come to his senses soon. I actually asked you...
I raised the temperature. On purpose, yes,” Jim said over his shoulder, running away down the corridor. I didn't want to hear any unnecessary questions.
So maybe you can tone it down a little? – McCoy shouted after him.
No! Spock loves warmth.
"Caring," Bones snorted. “I wish I had thought about this earlier, but now the whole department has to wear shorts and tank tops?!”
There was no one to answer, the question hung in the air.
Kirk spent the whole day creating the appearance of being wildly busy - not that there really was a lot to do, but it made it easier to endure the torment of the unknown. Thoughts of the late Admiral Pike returned. I remembered that whole day - when in the morning the Enterprise was taken away and demoted in rank, and in the evening the admiral was killed by John Harrison. On that day, the young and still completely inexperienced captain James Tiberius Kirk understood a lot: what responsibility and rank are, what the oath and Charter are, that for every action the captain is responsible not only to the command, but also to his crew and conscience. For everything that happens on board the ship, the captain is responsible, even if he has nothing to do with it. Pike then explained everything correctly, Jim understood and even agreed, albeit not immediately. And now is history repeating itself? Only now Admiral Pike is not around, no one will explain or put in a word. And, in the end, burn the entire Starfleet command with blue flames! Maybe it’s much more important to answer not to them, but to the team and your own conscience. And this is precisely what caused the big problems. The crew was sullenly silent, their conscience rebelled.
Khan was smart. Khan was even wise, despite the hundreds of innocent, ruined souls that hung like a stone around his neck. “My crew is my family, Kirk. What wouldn’t you do for your family?” He knew what he was putting pressure on - for the sake of his family, Jim was ready to do anything, and this is not an exaggeration. Answer to the fullest extent of the law? Lie to the command? Violate the Charter? Take the blame? Give your life, after all? Please, this stage has already been passed! Just guarantee the safety of the crew... Khan and Christopher Pike, without knowing it, did Captain Kirk a great service. But the situation with Spock was different. Jim felt as if he himself had put a bullet in his first mate. And there has not yet been a ray of light at the end of the tunnel.
By evening, the sarcastic McCoy reappeared:
Tell me, as a captain, what are you going to tell headquarters about what happened?
Why does this bother you? - Jim snapped. Bones struck a nerve - this was the second problem after Spock's health.
“I don’t care, not at all,” he chuckled indifferently. “Spock is interested.” You know his passion for the eternal truth and strict adherence to all the rules.
Spock? – the captain’s eyebrows shot up, and he literally swept the doctor out of the way, rushing off the bridge.
Spock had no memory, no awareness of the situation, and no sense of anything. It was as if he did not exist physically at all, but lived only in thoughts, and even then they were somehow separate from the body. On the one hand, it’s a pleasant feeling. The opportunity to get distracted, almost like meditation, only even deeper and more fulfilling. Buddhist monks call this state nirvana - a person’s complete renunciation of all feelings, suffering, acquisition of “highest happiness” and peace. But on the other hand, somewhere at the subconscious level it worried Spock - he felt a mistake, a deception of his own brain, but he could not figure it out.
At first it was cold. Very. Spock saw the sun home planet, but the rays did not reach and warm him, no matter how hard he tried to reach up. And in my thoughts there was the same coldness and fear - almost physical, tightening the mind and blocking any reasonable thought. The feelings were returning again, and Spock could not do anything about it, he could only watch himself from the sidelines.
Volcano of the planet Nibiru. The same one where he almost died. It was as if I was living those few seconds before the explosion for the second time. Both then and now, Spock missed the moment when the heat of the volcano broke through the protective suit, changing the sensation from “warm almost like home” to “temperature limit. I think I’m going to explode.” Spock thrashed about, consumed by this heat from within. Can an unconscious person lose consciousness? Now Spock wasn't sure of anything. It seemed that just a little more, and the whole world would flare up with a scarlet glow, the volcano burning inside the body would explode, releasing all the heat into the wild.
How much time had passed since the nightmare vision, Spock did not know. But now it was warm. Just like on Vulcan, when he was still a boy and gladly exposed his palms to the morning sun rays. Thoughts smiled like a Cheshire cat, so to speak. Bad comparison, Spock understood this, but he couldn't think of anything better. Dissonance was brought into this peaceful state by newly awakened feelings. Fear, pain and despair rushed inside his mind. Feelings that contrasted so sharply with his own state seemed alien, brought in from outside. The sun gave its warmth, softly and tenderly caressing the body that yearned for it, thoughts were confused, unable to express themselves.
When Kirk burst into the medical bay, Spock had already come to his senses a little and was quite able to conduct a reasonable conversation. Jim, without hiding his joy, rushed to the bed, almost crushing poor Spock with his weight. Still, the captain's bear hug was too much. The annoying Bones coughed delicately behind him, but Jim didn't pay attention to him.
Spock, you're awake! My God, how glad I am!
And me no less.
How are you feeling now?
Thank you for your concern, captain. I think I'm almost fine, but my head hurts unbearably.
I wonder if a heart can burst with joy? Now it was knocking somewhere at the level of Jim’s throat, either missing a beat in a hurry, or adding an extra one. Jim looked like a diligent student - with such trepidation and attention he peered into the Vulcan’s face, afraid to miss even a single word or movement.
First of all, I’m not “captain” now, just “Jim”. And secondly, I wanted to apologize to you, Spock. This stupid trick of mine... It’s my fault that you were almost killed. Arrogant, stupid idiot... This won’t happen again, I will always listen to you, I promise,” my thoughts were jumping, the apology came out somehow chaotic and stupid. “Next time I will never take you with me.” My whim - I have to answer. - Confused, Kirk fell silent and lowered his eyes. Spock was also silent, then quietly, with a sad smile that slightly touched the corners of his lips, he said:
You're my friend, Jim. And you would do the same.
The captain didn't know what to be more surprised at - the smile of the serious Vulcan, or the fact that he called him by name. Both of these happened extremely rarely.
Thank you,” the corners of his eyes stung, and to hide his face, the captain reached out to hug Spock, but he pulled back, frowning.
What have you done?
In terms of? – Kirk was taken aback.
What have you done to me? Why do I feel your emotions?
I... I don't know. I didn't do anything.
Strange,” Spock thought hard. “I remember cold and pain, then unbearable heat and despair, then just warmth and fear. The feelings were mine, but the emotions were someone else’s, I remember that. But I can’t understand...
Leave logic at least for a while,” Kirk begged. -Can you at least be sick? normal person, without drawing up cause-and-effect chains?
Jim, go already! – Bones emerged as if from under the ground. - He just came to his senses, and here you are with your endless conversations! Spock needs to rest, go.
The captain stood up and, straightening his uniform, saluted smartly:
The crew of the USS Enterprise wishes you a speedy recovery and return to our ranks, Commander Spock!
It will be done, captain!
Jim stretched out on his bed with a stupid smile on his face. The worst was avoided; moreover, luck, one might say, simply accompanied the captain and his first mate today. Spock not only woke up, but it seemed that he was not at all offended by Kirk. Isn't this a miracle? Now it’s a small matter - the speed of recovery depends solely on the quality of McCoy’s treatment, however, Kirk had no doubt about it, and about what the headquarters would say about everything that happened if the whole truth reached him. Headquarters! How could he forget? – Jim slapped himself on the forehead. After all, Bones had just said that Spock was interested in this issue. We should find out. The captain stood up and quietly headed back to the medical bay. If Leonard reveals his plan now, the captain will be in trouble.
Spock lay in the same position on his back, only turning his head slightly, and slept. Kirk's eyes followed the outline of the figure hidden by the blanket, the hair that didn't look at all like the usual Mr. Perfect Hair, and stopped at the pointy tip of the ear. It's funny. The desire to touch the very tip was almost irresistible. Holding his breath, Jim reached out and almost weightlessly touched the characteristic Vulcan corner. Not a single muscle moved on the commander’s face; he was fast asleep. Emboldened, the man ran his finger along the top and went down in an arc to the lobe. The Vulcan ear turned out to be much harder than that of humans. And the tip was really sharp. Jim smiled at his discoveries as he continued to study Spock's sleeping ear. For some reason, there was no thought that perhaps this was not entirely correct. And if Jim hadn’t been so carried away, he would have definitely noticed that Spock began to breathe less often and more quietly, and after a few seconds his hand quickly covered the captain’s hand. He didn’t even have time to gasp, only his eyes became a piercing blue color and his pupils sharply enlarged. Spock slowly turned his head, looking questioningly at Kirk and still holding his hand. The direct and honest look of the first mate was confusing and embarrassing; Jim flushed and tried to pull his hand away, but that was not the case. Spock remained stubbornly silent and held him tightly.
Did you want something, Jim? – he finally asked.
I just thought... McCoy said... You told him about the headquarters, right?
One of Spock's eyebrows shot up in surprise.
Well... He came to me today and said that you are asking that I am going to report what happened to headquarters. And so I thought...
I didn't say that.
Is it true? – Kirk was taken aback. - Why did he tell me that then?
“Perhaps,” Spock suggested, removing his hand from Jim’s but not removing it, “so that you would come here.”
The directness was stunning, but Jim quite rightly interpreted this gesture as an offer, and his fingers slid down the curve of the ear to the lobe, and Spock, closing his eyes, leaned towards him. Emotions, now they were simply impossible to ignore. When Jim entered the medical bay, the commander was not sleeping, but was only skillfully pretending, reflecting on the events of the past day. And when Kirk touched his ear, it was like a shock electric current passed through the body, Spock realized that it was he, Jim, who was awakened by emotions today and pulled him out of oblivion. Usually jealous of other people's touches, he caught himself thinking that Jim's touches were pleasant to him. And in the end, he decided to allow himself a little weakness as a sick first mate - he let go of the captain’s hand and allowed him to do what he wanted, and he himself caught and felt every emotion that Jim experienced. It was unusual and strange for a Vulcan, but certainly pleasant. Kirk literally radiated from within with warmth and light, not suspecting that Spock was receiving the same feelings. To allow himself a little weakness, to abandon logic at least for one day and surrender to feelings so pure and sincere - the Vulcan had no doubt about them. I wanted to melt under Jim’s warm, gentle hands, to leave him next to me. He seemed to read his thoughts, leaning over and whispering in his ear, “Move over.”
Without undressing, Kirk lay down next to Spock, the Vulcan trustingly moved closer to him, resting his head on his chest and gradually drowning in tender feelings leading to the world of dreams. It seemed that Jim was whispering something to him, but Spock could no longer make out anything, finally falling into a sound, dreamless sleep.

Information note:
James Tiberius Kirk was born on March 22, 2233. According to Indian astrology, it belongs to Pisces.
*Alrisha (Arabic) – a rope connecting the tails of two Pisces. Double star in the constellation Pisces.
Eared Vulcan of the Nordic type. Now, when information flows are off the charts, the choice of films, ideas and prototypes to follow is growing exponentially, and Hollywood offers more and more new types every year, it is difficult to imagine the excitement that was going on in the heads of fans of star epics of the late 20th century. Mr. Spock, paradoxically, satisfied everyone. A creature with a constant, although not obvious, internal conflict, pointed ears and strangely colored skin. A reason for constant jokes and admiration. A striking example how logic can conflict with generally accepted morality. People like him - assuming, of course, that he is a man - in real life love is impossible. Meticulous bores, workaholic enthusiasts on the verge of misanthropy, absolutely not understanding what ordinary human feelings are.
Spock is half Vulcan, half human, who grew up in a world where any display of emotion was considered bad manners and was resolutely suppressed. The rational side of his personality, which is stronger, naturally suppresses the emotional human side. But, despite all his outward coldness, he experiences human feelings, which he pushes deeper inside himself, and at some point they threaten to burst out in a blinding flash. This dramatic, complex personality with an intellect beyond the limits of an earthling could have remained an earth-like, inarticulate robot, if not for one detail. Ears! These beautiful Spock ears reconciled the viewer with any tediousness of the Star Trek character. Neither his strict hairstyle nor his stony expression could do anything to counter the crushing charm of his pointed ear. It’s not for nothing that most of the girls I know, when asked: “Why do you love Mr. Spock?” They answer in admiring chorus: “Of course, for the ears!”
Spock's calmness and intelligence perfectly written by the scriptwriters and superbly conveyed by actor Leonard Nimoy, also form the basis of the worldwide admiration for this character. The long-standing dream of scientists and utopians to separate reason from emotion found a unique embodiment in the mentality of the inhabitants of the planet Vulcan. The way Mr. Spock's brain works is that, thanks to national philosophy and martial arts training, the Vulcan brain does not reproduce emotions, which obviously slows down the brain. common man not only in extreme situations where concentration is needed, but also in a relaxed state. Following the matrix of the rational society of the planet Vulcan embedded in him makes Spock an ideal scientist, researcher, and strategist. Sherlock Holmes would agree with Spock's approach to mental activity. Only, along with the unnecessary rubbish of information, Spock freed the “attic of his brain” from the dust of emotions. But Spock is half Earthling. And, of course, he has a tendency towards emotionality. And therefore it is doubly interesting to watch how it manifests itself in this discreet
logical being. Moreover, from film to film - more and more.
Mr. Spock was played by two people: Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto. And you can accuse me of bias as much as you like, but my opinion will remain unchanged. Zachary Quinto was nowhere near the image that Nimoy created. Trying to play the, scary to say, sexy Spock gives me some kind of shock. Leonard Nimoy wrote in his book I Am Spock that it was a complete surprise to him that so many women found Spock sexy. However, after thinking, he came to the logical conclusion that everything inaccessible seems attractive to women. Especially when that “something” is an intelligent, reserved, cold-blooded man with a warm heart. And not flaunting his unconventional sexual orientation sweet guy. Although, probably, the director still proceeds from the image that attracts the audience. And if the need of the bulk of the audience has become the pumped-up cutie Spock, and the unbreakable sense of humor of the previous image remains unclaimed, perhaps this is not entirely the director’s fault. But I really miss Nimoy's ironic restraint now. Sexuality is probably not what you'd expect from an intellectual Vulcan. And, of course, in the early episodes this was played out perfectly. Spock and the women were really funny.
Of course, you shouldn’t put all your love for “Star Trek” on the personal account of one character. But, of course, its role in the popularity of the project is extremely large. As mentioned above, Star Trek could exist without Spock. But it would be a completely different Star Trek. And it’s not a fact that it’s just as popular.
In one of the early episodes, the crew of the Enterprise contract a strange virus that pushes out the hidden desires and emotions of the crew members. In this episode, Spock's emotional shell of iron logic and self-control cracks for the first time: the Vulcan is unable to restrain his romantic impulses, hysterical laughter and tears. As a result, Spock locks himself in an empty cabin and gives vent to his emotions. In this scene, the audience saw for the first time how painful, ashamed and painful it was for Spock to experience feelings - because they were contrary to his nature.
Spock's Kiss
Another attack on Spock's restraint: on mysterious planet beautiful flowers and happy people his head is intoxicated by the local blonde and magical spores, which put him in a state of eternal bliss.
Slap Spock
In the second season, half-Vulcan, half-human Spock encounters his parents on the planet Babylon. It turns out that Spock's father does not approve of his career in Starfleet. At the same time, the father ends up in the hospital - he needs an urgent transfusion of Vulcan blood. In an environment of military threat, the earthling mother tries to convince Spock to give up command and donate blood to save his father. However, guided by his harsh Vulcan logic, Spock refuses. The mother gives him a delicious human slap in the face.
Spock is homeless in 1930s America
The episode "The City on the Edge of Forever" from the first season of the classic Star Trek is the best example of science fiction of its time, one of the greatest episodes of the entire series. In search of Dr. McCoy, who has been lost in time, Captain Kirk and Spock travel to America during the Great Depression, where instead of Star Wars, economic crisis and unemployment. Kirk and Spock disguise themselves as local tramps and settle into a local homeless shelter run by a beautiful woman. Besides the heartbreaking ending, the episode's most memorable scenes are, of course, the scenes of Spock in his work cap.
Spock's wedding
Scene from the first episode of the second season, in which Spock fell into madness mating season. Captain Kirk and Dr. McCoy go with Spock to a wedding ceremony on Vulcan, where it turns out that a Vulcan wedding is somewhat similar to a Russian one: fights, bloodshed and strange competitions. For the sake of his bride, Spock has to kill his friend Kirk in an unequal battle. However, when it turns out that the death was fake, Spock flashes a sincere smile for a second. And every smile of Spock, as you know, is worth its weight in gold.
Evil Spock with beard
In the episode "Mirror, Mirror", due to anomalies in the ionic storm, Captain Kirk's crew is teleported to an alternate universe where their evil counterparts, including the bearded and ferocious Spock, live aboard the Enterprise.
Spock sings
Spock, Kirk and McCoy find themselves hostage by the inhabitants of the planet Plato, where ancient Roman madness reigns. Using psychokinesis, local cultural connoisseurs force our trio to sing ditties, dance and play theatrical production. Singing Spock is powerful.
Spock with a cat
In the episode "Destination Earth", secret agent Gary Seven appears, called upon to save humanity from self-destruction. The agent had faithful companion in the guise of a black satin cat named Isis. It is known that she was not just a werewolf, but her essence was never revealed. But Spock found an approach to the mysterious cat, in whose arms she was basking.
Death of Spock
The climax of the 1982 film Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan - Spock sacrifices himself and, as he dies, tells Captain Kirk the unforgettable: “I have always been and will be your friend.” It seems that even the most hardened Vulcans cannot hold back their tears at this moment. True, after some time, Leonard Nimoy successfully resurrected his character in the film “Star Trek 3: The Search for Spock,” which he himself directed.

Spock's mother, Amanda Grayson, was school teacher on Earth, and his father Sarek was a respected Vulcan diplomat. Most of Throughout his life, Spock was torn between his emotional human half and his strict Vulcan discipline. So far, the Widger incident in 2271 and more late death and the rebirth in 2286 did not broaden his view of the world. From 2267 he began working in the Vulcan Scientific Legion, was twice marked by Starfleet Command and secured the classification computer expert A7.
As a child, Spock had pet Sekhlet, an adorable Vulcan animal with claws and fangs that resembles a bear. His eldest stepbrother, Sybok, who was exposed to Vulcan emotions, rejected the path of pure logic. He was killed in the center of the Galaxy in 2292 in a battle with an alien organism that claimed to be God.
At the age of seven, Spock was telepathically linked to a Vulcan girl named T "Pring. The telepathic contact, in due course, would unite them both when they both reached adulthood. Every seven years, all Vulcan men experience "Pon Farr", a powerful Vulcan need for mating, if they do not find a mate, they will die. However, in 2267, T"Pring chose Stonn, a Vulcan, instead of Spock. Spock returned to the Enterprise single. Ultimately, he did perform the marriage ceremony in the presence of Lieutenant Jean-Luc Picard (being captain of the Enterprise-D).
As the young Vulcan decided to join Starfleet, a rift developed between him and Sarek for 18 years due to Sarek's hope that his son would attend the Vulcan Academy of Science. Spock was the first Vulcan to enlist in the Federation Starfleet. Served initially aboard the Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike and later with James T. Kirk.
At the end of the Enterprise's five-year mission, Spock resigned and returned to Vulcan, driven by a desire to be purged of his emotions by Kolinar by the Vulcan Masters. Although he completed his training, Spock was unable to reach Kolinar because his emotions were affected by Widger in 2271. So he returned to Starfleet again. Ultimately became captain of the Enterprise when the ship became a training vessel for Starfleet Academy.
Spock sacrificed himself in 2285 to restore the plasma conduit, allowing the Enterprise and his crew to escape Khan Noonien Singh's Genesis Device explosion. His radiation-damaged body was sent to the site of the explosion, but it landed safely on the newly formed Genesis Planet and underwent a regeneration process. Before his death, Spock entered Mindmeld with McCoy and gave him his katra, apparently destined for his longtime friend. The partner was destined to return her to Vulcan, where she was fully restored in the Fal-Tor-Pan ceremony or reinfusion process, carried out for the first time in his generation.
In more later years Spock's work became more diplomatic than scientific, although he remained part of Starfleet. In 2293, he became the Federation's special envoy to the Klingon government, leading the way to the Khitomer Peace Treaty with advisor Azetbur. This peace came about with great difficulty, and Spock was greatly concerned when the conspirators attempted to disrupt the negotiations by killing Azetbur's father, advisor to Gorkon, and due to the subsequent actions of Kirk and McCoy involved in this situation, his work was carried on by Lieutenant Vallaris.
After ten years as civilian In 2368, Spock secretly flew to Romulus on a personal mission to reunite the Vulcans and Romulans - a mission that shocked the Federation so much that Captain Jean-Luc Picard was sent after him to determine his motives. During this meeting, he was saddened to learn of the death of his father Sarek, but thanks to Picard's presence, Spock could allow himself one last consolation - due to the earlier mind-meld between Picard and Sarek. Spock remained to work with the Romulan underground and in 2369 helped the Romulan defector Vice Proconsul M'Reth arrange for dissidents to escape to the Federation.
Through all my long life Spock carried an interest in the arts, music, literature and poetry of many worlds, especially those of Earth, and played three-dimensional chess as well as the Vulcan lute and harpsichord.
