When does the swimming season open in Tunisia? Tourist season in Tunisia
Having lived in Tunisia for a year, I discovered all the delights of both the Tunisian winter and the Tunisian summer. Essentially, there are two periods in Tunisia - season and off-season, and spring quite quickly flows into summer. There is actually no winter here; it is more reminiscent of late autumn in Russia. The season lasts somewhere from May to the end of September. It is at this time that it is hot outside, sometimes very intense, and the sea is warm and gentle. In the off-season it starts to rain, strong winds and cold.
The Tunisian winter, of course, is nothing compared to the Russian one. Its biggest disadvantage is not even the rain and certainly not the temperature. Some +5 or even 0 degrees seem to be normal weather after 30-degree frosts in Karelia, my home region. The problem is that there is no central heating. Which means it’s cold in the houses. Only heaters save. For me, who is not used to this, this is the hardest thing to bear.
In summer there is unbearable heat. In the morning or afternoon it is even impossible to go outside. That is why everyone is trying to leave the house as little as possible during this time. Unless they're going to the beach. My friends and acquaintances wondered why the photographs of cities were so deserted during the day. I told them the same reason that I am telling you about here. But in the evening, whole families go out for walks along the city embankments. There is literally nowhere for an apple to fall. People are trying to enjoy the cool air, as the terrible heat will set in again during the day.
Season
As I wrote above, the season in Tunisia lasts from May to September. During this period, numerous hotels in Sousse, Monastir, Hammamet are filled and almost the entire country is preparing for the tourist season. Somewhere from the beginning of May to the beginning of June, the season begins, and by the end of September/beginning of October it gradually fades away.
June, July, August are the peak months, when you can hear both Russian and German speech on the beaches of Tunisia, and tourist buses just scurry between the airports and resorts of Tunisia.
May–early June/September–early October
In my humble opinion, this is the best period to travel to Tunisia. There is not yet that intense heat of +35 degrees, but in the south of the country it reaches +40. The temperature stays at +20, +25 and gradually rises. The water temperature at the beginning of May is still cool, but then, by the middle of the month, it warms up and rises to +25.
There are not many tourists yet, which means you can relax in a hotel or go on an excursion. If you, like me, don't like big crowds and huge concentrations of people in one place, then this is the perfect time for you.
The cost of the tour starts from 500 EUR. You can compare prices for tours from different agencies. Otherwise, prices for accommodation or souvenirs remain the same throughout the season.
True, sometimes it may rain, but after it you even feel some kind of freshness, it at least a little washes away the dirt on the streets. I already wear summer clothes at this time, but I definitely take a sweater or light jacket with me in case of rain or wind.
At the beginning of September the weather is still hot, but by the end of the month it gradually drops to +25. Tourist groups are starting to leave the country and the beaches are emptying. You can swim safely at this time, as the water temperature is +25. Sunbathe too, and the chances of getting sunburned are sharply reduced.
Things to do
At this time it is good to travel around the country and see the main attractions of Tunisia:
- Ruins of Carthage. They are located in the suburbs of the capital - the city, about half an hour's drive from it. Entrance costs 5 EUR (10 dinars), not including the entrance fee to the Cathedral of Saint Louis, which is part of the complex of buildings. You will actually need the whole day to visit all the objects on the territory of this open-air museum. At this time there will not be many people here, which means you can explore everything without interference.
- City of Sidi Bou Said. It is also located in the suburbs of the capital, a little further than the ruins of Carthage. It is interesting because it has been completely preserved in its original form. There you can see what Arab cities in North Africa used to look like. White houses with blue doors and windows, as well as small cafes and restaurants with magnificent views of the harbor, charm the traveler at first sight.
- Bardo Museum in Tunisia. This is a real treasury of all those sculptures and frescoes that remain from Carthage and the period when it was a province within the Roman Empire. The museum is located in the former palace of the beys, so the halls themselves have historical significance. Entrance fee – 5.5 EUR (11 dinars).
- Ishkel National Park near the city.. This is a unique natural reserve, where climbing higher and higher along the mountain path you can enjoy the beauty of these places. On the territory of the resort there are hot springs where you can lie down and relax. Entry there is free.
It is best to rent a car (you can find the best options for the price) and go to the El Jem amphitheater (I wrote in detail about it, as well as about the city in which it is located) or to Dougga (these are also the ruins of an ancient Roman city, which are located closer to the border with Algeria. Almost 6 hours by car from Tunisia. Entrance 2.5 EUR). I also advise you to go to the south of the country, on an excursion to the Sahara Desert (they are different, designed for 2, 5 or 7 days. Price - from 45 EUR for 2 days). During this period, the intense heat will subside there, but it will still be warm enough to explore the Star Wars scenery, on the border with the Sahara and next to Lake Chott El Jerid, or to touch the wonderful world of the Sahara Desert.
Peak season
It falls during the summer months. From June to August, planes regularly land and take off over Enfidha, Monastir, Carthage or Djerba. And crowds of tourists fill the El Jem Coliseum or Port El Kantaoui near Sousse.
The temperature rises to +35, and closer to the south to +40, for example, in Kairouan. Closer to the Sahara it already rises to +45.
The first thing I realized for myself when I first arrived in Tunisia in August 2013 was that the African heat is not at all the same thing as the fleeting Russian heat. The sun literally burns mercilessly, so be sure to wear a hat or cover your head in some way when you go somewhere on an excursion. You can get sunstroke in no time, so don't neglect this advice. Sunscreen must be applied not only when going to the beach, but also when just going for a walk around the city.
The peak of the heat during the day occurs between 12:00 and 16:00. It is better to be at a hotel or by the pool during this period, as you can quickly get sunburned on the beach.
In the evening the heat subsides a little, but it is still very stuffy. I like to go for a walk by the sea to breathe in at least a little fresh air.
Things to do
Prices do not rise much at this time. But there is a variety of different excursions offered (to Carthage, El Jem, sightseeing tours of Sousse or Monastir, prices - from 30-40 EUR) and other entertainment (camel rides from 5 EUR, diving - from 50 EUR; boat trips - from 50-100 EUR) increases sharply. I would not recommend traveling somewhere to the south of Tunisia or to individual attractions at this time, such as the Bardo Museum or the Archaeological Museum in the city of Sousse. It is very difficult to be outside in such heat, and museums and other historical attractions are open until 17:00-18:00.
This is the best time to relax calmly on the beach and swim in the sea. You can also go diving.
One more important detail! In the month of July (I cannot name the exact dates, since depending on the lunar cycle this period may change or even shift to August), the holy month for Muslims begins - Ramadan. During this entire time, all enterprises and organizations are working on a shortened schedule - half an hour/hour less. In addition, Tunisians become irritable and nervous, as they do not eat or drink until 19:00, when the whole family sits down to eat. Don't be surprised if you are rude or react strangely to the simplest question. The reason for this is the heat combined with fasting.
Not a season
The season ends at the beginning of October. The temperature drops to +20, +15, and then to +10. By December it may not be higher than this level. Nevertheless, there are also warm days when you can calmly take off your coat and walk down the street in a light sweater.
Autumn
The problem with autumn is the rain. Sometimes there may be a simple, mincing rain. And sometimes it rains very hard like a solid wall. For example, in the fall of 2016, in Sousse and Monastir there were such heavy rains that the sewer system simply could not cope with so much water. But this is not always the case.
If it rains heavily, it is better to stay in your hotel, as the water brings with it dirt and sewage accumulated on the streets.
The temperature drops to +20 and +15, but you can still safely go outside in a T-shirt and throw on a jacket.
In autumn, almost all tourists leave the country, since it is no longer possible to swim or sunbathe. There are not many people who want to explore the country itself. Therefore, many hotels are either closing completely or significantly reducing prices. Even four-star hotels offer standard rooms for only 50 EUR. As for excursions, they are almost never offered. Only an independent visit is possible.
Things to do
At this time we again traveled around the country, since Tunisia has many attractions that, I assure you, are worth visiting. Here you have the Ancient with Ancient Rome, and the heritage of the Turks with the Spaniards, and, of course, the subtle beauty of the East.
- For example, in the North-West there is a beautiful mountain park, near the town of Zaguan. Against the backdrop of the mountains there is Water Temple, built by the Romans. After going around it, you can go to the park itself. As you climb higher into the mountains, you can see stunning views all around. The visit is free.
- On the way back we stopped at a small town Takruna, which is on the old road on the way to . There, on the mountain, there are small houses that offer magical views of the surrounding landscapes. I just fell in love with this place.
- I also recommend going to the city Kairouan, which is very interesting from a historical point of view. I wrote about it: A unique city where the culture of the East is presented in all its glory.
Winter
From December the Tunisian winter comes into its own. Snow falls only in the area of the city and in some others, and in winter the temperature here is +10, +5 degrees. It sometimes rains, and in cities near the sea a very strong, piercing wind blows. I usually wear a warm coat with a thick scarf and autumn boots at this time.
In winter, you can meet tourists only around New Year, and there are very, very few of them. For the most part they are Europeans. Hotel prices from 50-75 EUR. I wrote in more detail about housing in Tunisia. As for other entertainment, there are almost no excursions at this time. You can go on an independent trip.
Spring
This weather persists until the end of March, and from April it becomes warmer and warmer. Throughout the winter there may be warm days when the sun shines brightly and there is no wind. The temperature rises to +25, and it rains less and less. Of course, strong winds can still blow, but the generally warm weather compensates for this.
***
Summarizing all of the above, depending on your purpose of traveling to, you can come either during the peak season, at the beginning or end of it, or in the off-season.
We'll tell you about the seasons for holidays in Tunisia and analyze the weather by month. Read this to avoid getting roasted in the sun and encountering jellyfish.
Tunisia - although a part of Africa, the sultry heat reigns here only in the summer and is relatively easily tolerated thanks to the sea breeze.
Summer in Tunisia is hot and dry, winter is mild and rainy, spring delights with an abundance of greenery and flowers, and autumn indulges in a pleasant velvet season. The difference in temperature between regions is insignificant, but in the north it is always 2-4 degrees cooler than in the south. In summer there is practically no rain, and even in the cold season it is short-lived. But Tunisian rains have an unpleasant characteristic feature - they are accompanied by a strong cold wind, so it is better to refrain from walking at this time.
Tour operators open charter flights to Tunisia from the middle and, however, one should not assume that the favorable time for vacation is limited to this framework. In Tunisia there is something to do all year round, regardless of the season: in summer - swimming and sunbathing on snow-white beaches, in spring and autumn - interesting excursions around the cities and the Sahara, in winter - thalassotherapy. Another thing is that after the closure of charter flights, many hotels close, and there are fewer offers, but prices also drop.
Comfortable season in Tunisia
April
Tunisia in April is very beautiful: beautiful flowers bloom everywhere, the sun scatters gentle rays from the piercing blue sky. It's time for an excursion holiday and getting to know the country. The air has already warmed up to a comfortable 25 degrees, but the sea remains quite cool - about 16 degrees. Not everyone will dare to swim. But under the April sun you can get an even chocolate tan. In addition, hotels offer discounts on accommodation during this time.
May
June
The beginning of summer in Tunisia marks the peak of the tourist season. All resorts are crowded with vacationers of different nationalities. In the sea, the water temperature reaches a comfortable 23 degrees Celsius, and the daytime air temperature freezes at around +30. Occasionally the sirocco wind brings with it the heat of the desert. But you need to take into account that in the evenings in Tunisia, even in summer, it becomes cool - the thermometer shows about +20 degrees, so you may need a pullover or a light jacket.
July
From the very first days, the number of European tourists at Tunisian resorts has sharply decreased. The fact is that they consider July and August too hot for vacation. And indeed, during the day the air heats up to +34 in Hammamet and up to +30 in Sousse. A light breeze makes the situation a little easier, but it’s still hard to go on excursions in such heat.
August
The second month of scorching heat and warm, like fresh milk. Not everyone is able to normally tolerate +35 during the day, and you won’t feel very refreshed in water heated to 25 degrees. However, August can present tourists with another unwanted surprise: year after year, it brings jellyfish from Morocco and Algeria to the shores of Tunisia. The warmer the water temperature, the more jellyfish reproduce. It is impossible to predict in advance whether you will be lucky with swimming in August or whether you will just have to admire the sea and be content with the hotel pool.
- Travelata, Level.Travel, OnlineTours - look for the hottest tours here.
- Aviasales - save up to 30% on purchasing air tickets.
- Hotellook - book hotels with discounts up to 60%.
- Numbeo - look at the price order in the host country.
- Cherehapa - take reliable insurance.
- AirBnb - rent an apartment from locals.
September
The air temperature in Tunisia remains at a high of +32 degrees, but the sun is much less hot, and you can safely get a bronze tan. The water in the sea still remains +25 degrees. This is a great month for a beach holiday, especially with young children. You can also go on excursions and go surfing.
October
The “velvet season” is coming with an air temperature of +28+30 degrees and a gentle sun. Excellent season for a holiday in Tunisia. It is still comfortable to swim in the sea, only by the end of October the water temperature drops to 21 degrees. There are many European tourists at the resorts, and Tunisians themselves love to relax most of all during this month, when the sun does not leave burns, and in the evenings it is pleasantly cool - about +21 degrees. In addition, in October you can enjoy delicious sugar dates from the new harvest.
Rainy season in Tunisia
November
You can already feel the approach of winter: it rains more and more often, the air becomes humid, and strong winds blow. Only those who like the cool African autumn with daytime temperatures of +21 come to relax in Tunisian resorts at this time. You can no longer swim in the sea - the water temperature is +18 degrees. And instead of a calm blue surface, the November sea turns into a noisy and seething, inhospitable mass of water. All that remains is to observe the riot of nature from afar.
December
The Tunisian winter is fundamentally different from the Russian one. Although it is too cold to swim (water temperature is +15), greenery is visible everywhere, and flowers are blooming here and there. The weather is changeable: sometimes it rains a lot, sometimes the friendly sun comes out. You can come to Tunisia in December to undergo a course of thalassotherapy and breathe in the sea air while walking. However, it should be borne in mind that in the evening the air temperature drops from +16 to +8 degrees, and it becomes very chilly.
January
Air and water temperatures remain at December levels, but there is less rain. In general, high air humidity and weather variability remain. On some days you can even sunbathe, hiding from the cold winds in a secluded bay. In addition, in January in Tunisia you can admire the almond blossoms and refuel with vitamins, as citrus fruits are harvested at this time.
February
There is an active confrontation between winter and spring. The weather is unpredictable, such is the season; there are frequent gusty winds, which force you to wrap yourself tightly in warm clothes. The sky is mostly overcast, but it rains less and less: in the east of the country there are 6-7 rainy days per month, on Djerba - within 4. The daytime temperature is about +16, in Djerba it rises to +18.
March
With the first month of spring, winter in Tunisia is losing ground. The sun is increasingly peeking out from behind the clouds, the temperature rises to an average of +18+20 during the day, but sunbathing on the coast can be hindered by the piercing winds from the sea. By evening the temperature drops to February +9+10. Sudden showers are also possible, but in general the weather is more pleasant and stable than in the winter months.

In a restaurant In a store Drinks
From mid-May, the air and sea are already comfortable for swimming along the entire coast. The end of May is a favorable time for relaxing with children, when there are no high temperatures during the day.
Note: the streets of many cities are paved with stones, so comfortable shoes are required for sightseeing trips and walks.
In spring you can taste aromatic strawberries, almonds, mulberries, and medlar of the new harvest.
Tunisia in summer
A refreshing sea breeze helps you comfortably endure the increasing heat of the day, when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees. A gentle sea, sandy beaches, warm evenings, an abundance of entertainment and festivals await vacationers at any resort.
It is important to know: in some years in August, the current brings jellyfish to the shores of Tunisia, which creates inconvenience when swimming.
Summer stalls are full of apricots, peaches, melons, and watermelons. In August, the eyes widen from the abundance of grapes of all kinds.
Tunisia in autumn
September is still quite a summer month with dry, hot days and gentle sea at all resorts. October is the velvet season, the African “Indian summer”, when the sun softens its ardor. It’s a great time for those who don’t like or can’t stand high temperatures, and for relaxing with children. In November, the air and sea gradually cool down, there are more cloudy and cloudy days, rain and winds come.
In the Sahara in the fall there is no longer scorching heat, and trips along the sand dunes will not tire you, as will excursions to historical cities in the central part of the country.
Note: for traveling through the desert, you must have a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and cream.
How to get there
What to eat
In resort restaurants and cafes you can always find popular dishes of European cuisine, mainly French and Italian. Of course, national dishes are also on the menu, and you should definitely try them. The names of Tunisian dishes are found in the cuisines of other Arab countries, but in this country they are prepared in their own way.
The peculiarity of Tunisian dishes is that they are prepared in olive oil, using vegetables and aromatic seasonings.
For meat dishes they use lamb, beef, chicken, pork (especially for tourists). Lots of seafood and fish dishes, mainly tuna.
Popular national dishes:
- couscous: prepared in a special makful steamer pan, where meat or fish with vegetables and nuts are stewed in the lower part, and a side dish of cereal is steamed in the upper part, which resembles a colander;
- shakshuka: scrambled eggs cooked with a sauce of tomatoes, bell peppers, onions and spices;
- merguez: sausage in a natural casing with minced beef and lamb with spices, grilled or fried in a frying pan;
- makrud – layered diamond-shaped cookies made from semolina with chopped fruit and almonds, cooked in honey syrup;
- shamiya: sesame halva.
Coffee is the most common drink, and it is prepared in different ways. Coffee to which rose, jasmine or orange water has been added has an extraordinary taste and aroma. No less popular is green mint tea, the preparation of which is a multi-step ritual.
Attractions
Different eras, peoples, cultures have left their mark on the land of Tunisia, causing admiration, surprise, and awe.
The most important architectural monuments of the country that you should definitely see:
Carthage
The ruins of the ancient city, from which you can imagine the beauty of the destroyed structures, are the main attraction of Tunisia.
Amphitheater in El Jem
The third largest surviving one in the world, designed for 60 thousand spectators, the only amphitheater that was not destroyed by time or conquerors: it was simply not completed in the third century.
Dugga
From the once prosperous ancient city founded by the Romans, the ruins of an amphitheater, capitol, temples, baths, and amazing floor mosaics have reached us.
Sidi Bou Said
A snow-white city-museum, shaded by the blue of doors, shutters, grilles and other decor.
This is interesting: in the city it is forbidden to build and paint houses in a different color scheme.
When choosing a country for a vacation, we always evaluate its climatic capabilities. Tunisia, unfortunately, cannot provide year-round beach service. But you can relax in Tunisia all year round, it all depends on your desires.
If we schematically consider when is the best time to vacation in Tunisia, then the diagram will look like this.
Prices for everything depend mainly on the influx of tourists in the summer months. At this time, it is comfortable to relax here, but expensive. The spring-autumn period contributes to a decline in tourist flows. Prices are falling along with them. In winter, this is the best time to improve your health and breathe the sea air, as well as enjoy the silence and economy.
Hotel - beach
Let's start with the traditional version. , suitable for swimming, starts in Tunisia in May . In the more southern areas of the coast and on the islands and Kerkennah you can swim from the beginning of the month, and the northern areas of Bizerte and Tabarka will warm up with the sun only towards the end.
Even hot weather on the shore will not protect you from the cold sea. This is a feature of the Mediterranean region. Even in mid-June you can encounter cool currents. Therefore, if you are planning a vacation with children, choose July-September. These months already guarantee absolutely comfortable sea temperatures.
If you love more than just lying on the beach, but are interested in other activities - boarding, diving, windsurfing, then you can do this in earlier months. The sea temperature in Tunisia rarely drops below +13-15 degrees Celsius. Therefore, everything here will depend on your preferences and body capabilities. Of course, a long stay in the water when diving, especially at great depths, will be more comfortable in warm weather. Therefore, diving centers here are not as widespread as in Egypt and they operate mainly in the summer months.
Beach – excursions
If you choose this option, then the optimal time for this can be called months:
- May,
- September-November.
The sea is warm enough in almost all regions of the country and you can enjoy beach holidays and swimming. Most hotels are already operating at full capacity. At the same time, the air temperature is not so hot and does not create any special problems when traveling along the coast and especially inland.
The summer months will be too hot . At this time, it is better to refrain from traveling to desert areas with children, the elderly and those suffering from cardiovascular diseases.
Even May and autumn in Tunisia can be very "hot". If you are going on an excursion, then choose either a group option with a bus or rent a car. They have air conditioning, which will help you cope with the heat more easily. Clothing should be light, but cover the body as much as possible.
Look at the locals. The men are dressed in long, light-colored shirts, with meters of fabric wrapped around their heads. You rarely see women on the street, but they too "closed" from head to toe. It is customary to attribute this to Muslim laws. But weather conditions also influenced this style of clothing for local ladies.
Hotel – excursions
In this version, we will look at when is the best time to go to Tunisia for impressions. The best way to travel around the country is in March, April, November and December . Difficulties may arise with renting seaside hotels - most of them are closed. Therefore, it is better to choose small city hotels, private houses and apartments.
The coast delights with sunbathing and warm days, which become an outlet for northerners. Rain is not uncommon, but frequent weather changes allow you to enjoy beautiful seaside scenery and the absence of people. An ideal time for artists and philosophers.
The best time to visit the desert is in March. The rainy season has gone north and the warm air "kicks out" there are a huge number of flowers outside. Everything blooms - fruit trees, plants, shrubs. Residents collect them and make aromatic liquids from them, which they then sell.
Beautiful nature in spring and warm autumn weather will be an ideal companion for anyone who wants to see Tunisia for real, and not as a souvenir postcard.
Low season
The most unpopular month in Tunisia are January and February. If the beginning of January can still boast of an influx of tourists after the New Year holidays, then February is a sad month. Low gray sky, stormy sea, cold gusts of northern winds - all this turns the coast into an uncomfortable vacation spot.
The hinterland is also not very comfortable. Showers, possible night frosts, landslides in the mountains. If you decide to visit the country at this time, be prepared for unpleasant surprises.
The most comfortable place in Tunisia in February - These are coastal coffee shops and thalassotherapy centers. Here you are guaranteed close attention from the staff. There are practically no tourists at this time and prices for everything fall 2-3 times compared to "high" period. However, there are people who like to relax during this period.
Enjoy your holiday in Tunisia!
Resorts in Tunisia are not as popular as holidays in Egypt or Turkey, but this stunning Arab country has an equally rich history, gorgeous beaches and one of the best thalassotherapy centers in the world. The unique charm of the East can be read here in every corner, shimmering with the bright colors of the golden desert and spicy spices, emerald tropics and azure coast.
The borders of Tunisia run from the snow-white beaches of the Mediterranean Sea to the very depths of the sultry Sahara, forming two climatic zones. The north and northeast have a tropical Mediterranean climate, while the south has a desert climate. The peaks of the mountains in the west of the country are covered with snow in winter. In the summer months, the temperature regime there is more moderate than in the northern regions of Tunisia.
Winter
In December, holidays in Tunisia are focused on wellness and relaxation in thalassotherapy centers and balneological procedures. Most spa hotels have swimming pools and indoor water parks, where you can combine swimming and entertainment with healing rituals of beauty and youth. The weather in Tunisia during this period is not conducive to a beach holiday, as the air temperature varies between 16-18 degrees.
To climb the mountains you need to be prepared for sub-zero temperatures, as well as strong winds and cold nights in the desert, when the thermometer only reaches 8 degrees. Therefore, the excursion part of the holiday in Tunisia may not be available until spring.
In the north of the country, due to the abundance of precipitation, everything the streets are covered with lush blooming greenery of citrus fruits and almonds, and the olive harvest is ripe. At the beginning of winter, international festivals are held in Douz and Tozeur, dedicated to the ancient customs and culture of the local population. Despite the abundance of storms, in winter in Tunisia you can find closed beaches and get a great tan.
Spring
Excursion tours to Tunisia begin in March. The temperature at the resort does not drop below 20 degrees, so trips to attractions and daytime desert safaris will take place in comfortable conditions. By the end of spring, many brave travelers open the swimming season, as the water warms up to 19 degrees and the air temperature reaches 26 degrees.
For connoisseurs of everything ancient, in April you can visit the archaeological festival in Tataouine, dedicated to the culture and art of the southern regions of the country. In May, holidays in Tunisia with children are considered the most optimal in terms of budget and weather conditions. Water sports, including yachting and fishing, are becoming available on the beaches.
Summer
Despite the fact that the air warms up to 30 degrees at the beginning of summer, the water remains at no higher than 21 degrees. Holidays in Tunisia in June are suitable for the elderly, children and those who cannot stand the heat, as the winds in the seas cool and refresh the air. With 10 hours of daylight, you can devote more time to excursions through the desert and historical regions of the country. In addition to the attractions of Tunisia, tourists can visit the famous horse races in Sidi Thabet and Meknessi, and also enjoy jazz compositions at the music festival in Tabarka.
Holidays in Tunisia in July can be overshadowed only by the season, which will last until September, and the winds. The air temperature can warm up to 33 degrees, and the sea water rises to a comfortable 26 degrees. In July-August in the desert it can be uncomfortable like during the day when outside unbearable stuffiness, and at night, when the temperature approaches zero. During this period, music and theater festivals are held in the Tunisian resorts of El Jem and Hammamet.
In August, beach holidays in Tunisia reach their peak. The water does not drop below 28 degrees, and the air can warm up to 35 degrees. At the end of summer, it is better for tourists to choose the northern resorts of the country and stay more in the shade. Thalassotherapy spa resorts become no less popular during this period, where you can not only refresh yourself, but also relax. In a desert the risk of strong sandstorms increases, so exotic safaris may not be safe. All music lovers can spend the calendar summer in Tunisia with the music festival in Tabarka.
Autumn
In September, Tunisia delights travelers with long-awaited freshness and comfortable temperatures for excursion trips. At the beginning of autumn, all amateur photographers can demonstrate their talent at the underwater photography competition in Tabarka. Therefore, holidays in Tunisia in September attract many creative people from all over the world.
In October, Tunisia is suitable for a beach holiday, because water and air temperatures remain at around 25 degrees. The evenings can be chilly due to wind and sparse precipitation, so it is best to bring appropriate clothing. An international festival of creativity opens for cinema connoisseurs in Corthage, and extreme sports enthusiasts will appreciate the “Schott’s Steps” marathon, which takes place right in the desert.
The weather in Tunisia in October is suitable for families with children. At the end of autumn, the country's resorts close the beach season and offer indoor water activities in hotels. The air warms up to 20 degrees, and it often rains, but during this period you can purchase profitable last-minute tours to Tunisia and save great money on a wellness vacation.
