When to vacation in Vietnam by month. Rainy season in Vietnam by month
The beach capital and one of the most popular cities in Vietnam, Nha Trang is a lively, cheerful, fun-filled resort that has gained popularity and worldwide fame. After reading this article on the Tour Calendar, you will be convinced that the best time to visit it is from February/March to the middle - the end of September.
Tourist season in Nha Trang
Nha Trang on the map of Vietnam is not just a point, but a wonderful resort that deserves to be written about. Once in this city, it is difficult to believe that before it was a modest, inconspicuous fishing village, where no hotels or restaurants were visible. This Vietnamese corner would have continued its monotonous and boring life if the French colonialists, who built the first villas here and attracted the first pioneer tourists, had not paid attention to its amazing purity and unique natural splendor. It can be considered that thanks to them this resort took its current form. Well, the credit for its popularization belongs to the American invaders, who often rested in Nha Trang during breaks between military operations. Fortunately, that difficult time for the city has long passed, and today nothing reminds of it. Kilometers of soft snow-white sands, bordered by spreading palm trees, luxury hotels and entertainment complexes that have grown up along the coast, well-trained service and vibrant nightlife - this is how modern Nha Trang appears to its thousands of guests. By the way, among them are our compatriots.
High season
During the height of the tourist season, which lasts from March to August, Nha Trang experiences a rapid influx of foreigners. During this period, local beaches are filled with everyday bustle. The main interest of tourists is focused on taking solar-water procedures. And this is not surprising, since the resort’s bay is one of the 20 most beautiful bays in the world. The second influx of tourists is observed during the Vietnamese New Year “Tet”, which falls at the end of January, beginning or mid-February. At this time, tariffs are very high.
Low season
The decline in the tourist season, which occurs from late September to mid-January, is primarily due to the worsening weather situation. The main obstacle to a carefree holiday is frequent and heavy rains, as well as stormy seas. However, here it must be added that the climate changes from season to season, and even weather forecasters cannot say 100% that the weather will be terrible. So, in November 2014, the notorious rainy season did not begin. And in 2013, in the same month, on the contrary, it flooded every day. But one thing is known for certain: the price level at this time is rapidly falling. This is especially beneficial for those who come here for a long period of time on vacation or to look for work. Of course, there is a risk of typhoons and tsunamis, but in this region it is very, very small.
Beach season in Nha Trang
It is warm in Nha Trang regardless of the time of year on the calendar, so in fact the swimming season is never interrupted. However, due to downpours and gusty winds that create restless waves, serene splashing in the turquoise waters is not always possible. The least recommended time for beachgoers is from October to December, when you can forget about the idyllic surface of the South China Sea, as well as the transparency and purity of the water. Strong surf makes it difficult to swim, and heavy rains wash away sand and clay. This state of affairs suits only dexterous surfers, for whom the main thing is the presence of “well-fed waves”, and everything else is of little importance. However, if the main goal is not swimming, but getting a tan, then the “low season” is quite suitable for this. The precipitation, of course, is heavy, you can’t argue with that, but it is short-lived, usually no more than half an hour. You can easily achieve a luxurious chocolate skin tone even in cloudy conditions, since ultraviolet radiation in these parts is very aggressive. In January, the intense rains in Nha Trang come to an end, however, for vacationers craving beach bliss, this is not the best time, since the water in this month is the coldest of the year: about +22°C - about the same as on Mediterranean resorts in early June. If you want a perfect holiday, we recommend planning it for the period from March to August with a minimum number of “wet” days and a warm, calm sea. However, it should be clarified that in June, July and August there is a peak of heat, which is contraindicated for people with a weak heart and blood vessels. Also, from mid-August, the sea is slowly changing, and waves are becoming commonplace.
Diving season in Nha Trang
Recently, specialized tours with diving programs have become increasingly in demand. The islands and resorts of the South China Sea are some of the best on the planet for spectacular diving. Nha Trang offers keen lovers of the deep sea a wonderful world of colorful corals and colorful exotic fish. Since the water in the sea is always warm, diving is practiced here almost all year round. But still, the most optimal time to explore the possessions of the kingdom of Neptune is March, April, May, all summer months and the beginning of September. During the rainy season, scuba diving is only done at downwind sites, and mainly by professional athletes. During the rest of the year, about 20 dive centers are available to divers. Many of them are concentrated around the uninhabited island of Hon Mun, on the territory of which there is a real marine park with about 170 species of fish, 110 species of shellfish and 69 species of fauna.
Fishing season
The sea off the coast of Nha Trang is replete with marine life - shrimp, lobsters, octopuses, cuttlefish and many inhabitants of the tropical and northern seas. You can fish in two ways: sitting with a rod on the shore (the cheapest way) or on a yacht in the most “grainful” places, simultaneously enjoying the pristine beauty of secluded bays and picturesque islands and grottoes scattered along the coast. As with diving, the most suitable season for testing your fishing luck is spring, summer and early September. However, even during these months there is a possibility that she may turn away. The fact is that fishing around Nha Trang greatly depends on the phase of the moon. When it moves away from the land, cold water enters the coastal zone, along with which a good catch comes there - mackerel, barracuda and tuna. The rest of the time it is quite modest, hence the mixed reviews that fishing in Vietnam is very mediocre or, worse, not at all. In addition, you can go fishing on the lakes. This pleasure is usually cheaper, but the impressions are no less.
Wellness season
Another common reason why tourists visit Nha Trang is the desire to improve their health, regain their youth and beauty. Nature has blessed the surrounding area of this city with hot mineral springs and deposits of healing mud, which are actively used in thalassotherapy and in the treatment of various diseases. Indications for treatment may include dysfunction of the musculoskeletal system, diseases of the bronchopulmonary and nervous system, endocrine disorders, and skin diseases. The best time to undergo procedures is winter, when there is no unbearable heat and a huge influx of people. But at the same time, the season is not particularly important for serious treatment.
It's time for holidays and festivals
The cultural life of Vietnam is striking in its richness, scope and colorfulness. Most of them depend on the phases of the moon, and therefore do not have clear dates. The largest include: Whale Festival (mid-3rd lunar month), Religious festival in the Po Nagar tower (April-May), religious festival “Am Chua Festival” in the temple of the same name in the village of Dai Dien (around May), Birthday national hero Ho Chi Minh (May 19), week-long sea festival “Nha Trang Sea Festival” (June), Independence Day (September 2), mid-autumn festival “Tet Trung Nguyen” (on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, which corresponds end of September-October), Che Ngo Festival (November), Catholic Christmas (December 25) and Vietnamese New Year (from late January to late February). You can find out about other remarkable events if you go to the section in Vietnam.
Climate in Nha Trang
Nha Trang compares favorably with other cities and resorts in Vietnam with its blessed climate. It creates the most favorable conditions for the development of tourism compared to other regions of the country. Since the city is securely surrounded by a high ring of mountains, the frequency of typhoons, tsunamis and other natural disasters here is several times lower than in other regions, and the relative humidity and volume of precipitation is much lower. Temperature fluctuations throughout the year are insignificant; the change of seasons can actually be judged only by the precipitation regime. Like many cities in Southeast Asia, Nha Trang has the concept of a “wet season”. Here we mean the period from October to December, during which about 1,500 precipitation falls, which is 4 times more than in the rest of the year.
Nha Trang in spring
Spring in Nha Trang is the most successful time in terms of weather. There is no exhausting heat or heavy downpours yet. The wet monsoon has gone away, having previously transferred this territory to the power of the dry continental one. The sea is clear and without waves, you can swim for fun, snorkel and dive.

Nha Trang in summer
The bright sun and cloudless sky are faithful companions of the summer season in Nha Trang. The incandescent power of the sun shows everything that it is capable of, so you can get burned in no time. Don't forget to regularly apply photoprotective cream to your skin! There is practically no rain, and if it rains, it is only at night. But there is not enough freshness to feel comfortable, so this is not the most favorable time for young children and people with poor health.

When to go to Vietnam so as not to make a mistake with the weather?
Before a long-awaited vacation trip, you want to make sure that the weather will not ruin your vacation experience.
Which month is the best to travel to Vietnam is one of the first questions that arises among potential guests of this sunny country.
When to go so as not to make a mistake?
Regarding Vietnam, the answer is extremely simple - always. Vietnam is beautiful at any time of the year in any region. Therefore, if you don’t know where to go on vacation, go to Vietnam.
The weather in Vietnam is monsoon. But this does not mean that if you go during the monsoon, you will see Vietnam from the hotel window through the streams of rain. Here monsoon does not mean heavy rains. In fact, there are two monsoons in Vietnam - southern (April - September) and northern (October - March).
For this reason, for those who are planning to vacation in Vietnam, two seasons are clearly distinguished - dry (high) and rainy (low). However, this does not mean that during the low season, that is, in the summer, you have nothing to do in Vietnam other than sit in the rain. And this does not mean that during the winter months you will be comfortable anywhere in Vietnam.
The climate of Vietnam varies greatly by region. By conditionally dividing the country into three regions, you can very accurately determine the weather for your vacation.
North of Vietnam
The north is the coldest part of the country by Vietnamese standards. Especially from November to March - the height of the Vietnamese cold.
In winter (December-January) the very north will be quite invigorating, so if you plan to go there, pack your bags according to the weather. Sometimes everything is even covered in a thick fog that lasts for several days. During the day in winter it’s about +15, and at night it’s very cool. Even though the winter months are a dry season, there will be some light rain quite often.
With the southern monsoon (April - October) comes heat and high humidity. At the same time, the temperature is almost the same as in the south of Vietnam. With such high humidity, it is very difficult to tolerate the heat. This is the rainy season in the north of the country. The wettest months for the north are July and August. The driest months are December and January.
Central Vietnam
Central Vietnam has always been distinguished by its transitional climate from the north to the south of this part of the country. Since the coastline is protected by a chain of Truong Son mountains (also called the Annam Mountains), the rains that the southern monsoon brings to the country do not always reach the coast. Therefore, from April to September, while short-term precipitation periodically falls throughout the country, the center of Vietnam sees almost no rain.
However, this advantage reverses with the arrival of the northeast monsoon (September-December). If the mountains protect against the wet monsoon coming from the southwest, then when the wind reverses its direction, they now cause a large amount of precipitation.
The northern part of central Vietnam (home to the popular resorts of Hoi An and Da Nang) suffers greatly from precipitation from September to December. During this period, you can see a typhoon here, or get caught in a severe storm (August-November). In Hoi An, there is generally a risk of flooding from October to November. During the remaining winter months, it also rains periodically in northern central Vietnam. And this continues until April. Therefore, it is hardly worth recommending visiting Da Nang and Hoi An from September to early April. Although there are no showers towards the end of winter, it is quite cool (from 20 to 25 degrees), and light rains occur frequently. Since the hotels do not have central heating, it does not feel hot at all. And if you get caught in the rain, you become chilly, since there is no place to dry your clothes. And the sea is often stormy, as the wind drives the waves onto the shore. Therefore, bathing may also be a problem.
In summer, the weather in northern central Vietnam is quite comfortable with little rainfall. Highly recommended for a holiday.
South central Vietnam is a popular tourist area. It is much less susceptible to precipitation and weather that spoils vacations, and from Nha Trang to Mui Ne there is much less rainfall throughout the year than in the rest of the country.
It is the driest region of Vietnam. Even during the rainy season (from May to September) there is much less rainfall here than in other resorts. It is believed that the best time to relax here is from August to April. Thanks to the winds blowing here, the period from September to December is favorable for surfing, from November to April they actively windsurf, and the rest of the time the sea is perfectly calm, with either no or very little precipitation.
It also belongs to the center of the country, but its climate is slightly closer to the south. Hurricanes and typhoons do not occur here due to the nearby mountain range. The heaviest precipitation is from October to December. It is best to go here from January to May, but even in the summer months it is quite comfortable here; it does not rain too often, although it does occur.
South Vietnam
Without the protection of the Truong Son Mountains, southern Vietnam, especially the Mekong Delta, can feel very hot. The southern monsoon (April-September) will bring additional humidity to the resorts of this area (expect particularly hot weather with high humidity in June-July). During this period, there is a high probability of going to Saigon and getting caught in a flood.
The best time to holiday in southern Vietnam is from December to April.
So when should you go to Vietnam?
There is simply no so-called ideal time to travel to Vietnam. It is hot and very humid here all year round. Avoid months when you might be caught in a hurricane or storm; the rest of the time the weather is generally stable. And, of course, depending on the time of year, you need to choose the right region of Vietnam where it is best to go at a given time.
As you can see, at almost any time of the year you can find a place in Vietnam where you can have a good rest. The only caveat is that this will be more difficult to do in the fall than at other times - heavy rains and even hurricanes in central Vietnam can ruin your vacation.
March - April
March and April are the best months to go on vacation to Vietnam. In March, tropical heat comes to the southern and central regions. This is a great time for beach and sports holidays. In Mui Ne and Phan Thiet +34°C during the day, at night +24°C, water +28°C. In Nha Trang the air temperature is a couple of degrees lower. In Fukuoka it is hotter at night +27°C, +32°C during the day, sea +29°C. The northern coast is traditionally colder, but at the end of April you can swim there: during the day +23...+25°С, sea +23°С.
May
The rainy season begins in the south and north of Vietnam. At the beginning of the month they fall mainly at night, so some opportunities for beach holidays and excursions remain. In Hanoi during the day +31°C, at night +25°C. In Nha Trang during the day +32°C, at night +24°C, water +28°C. In Fukuoka during the day +35°C, at night +25°C, water +29°C.
June - August
The rainy season is in full swing in the south and north of the country, daytime temperatures are +32...+34°C, hot, humid and stuffy. The summer months are the best time to relax in the center of Vietnam: Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hue and Hoi An, where it is relatively dry. At the end of August, rains reach the central regions of the country.
September - October
In the north of the country, the rainy season is ending, in the south there are short-term rains, in the center there are heavy downpours, there may be hurricanes and floods. Sea water +27°C. In Ho Chi Minh City, Phan Thiet and Nha Trang +32…+33°С during the day, +24°С at night, in Phu Quoc +30°С during the day and +25°С at night. In October, weather conditions noticeably worsen, it becomes several degrees colder, it rains every day, the sea is stormy, and hurricanes rage in the center of the country. In Da Nang, Hue and Hoi An, this is the wettest month, with humidity reaching 80% and flooding often occurring.
November
In November, it is best to relax in the north of Vietnam: the weather there is dry and clear, around +15...+20°C during the day. There is still a high probability of typhoons in the central regions. In Nha Trang it is often cloudy, +26°С during the day, +22°С at night, the sea is cloudy and warm +24°С, in Da Nang +22…+24°С. In Fukuoka, clear and calm water is +27°C, clear during the day +32°C, at night +23°C.
December
It is cool in the north, warm and rainy in the center, clear and dry in the south. In the south +30°C during the day, +22°C at night, water +27°C. In Danang +24°C, the sea is also +24°C. It is stormy in Nha Trang, especially in the first half of December, +28°C during the day, +21°C at night, water temperature +24°C. In Mui Ne and Ho Chi Minh City it is warm and sunny +31°C during the day, +22...+24°C at night, the sea in Mui Ne, Phan Thiet and Phu Quoc is +26...+28°C.
January - February
In the north of the country it is cool +19°C during the day, +14°C at night. It is moderately warm in the center: in Danang and Hoi An during the day +23...+25°С, precipitation is less intense, the sea is pleasant +23°С. The season is in the south of Vietnam, the best places to relax are in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet: dry and clear +32...+34°C during the day, sea +28°C. An excellent beach holiday in Fukuoka, where during the day it is +30°C, the sea is +28°C. In February, dry, sunny weather sets in throughout the country.
The direction of northern Vietnam (Hanoi) is perfect for a holiday in October-December, since during this period there is almost no rain, with moderate temperatures, and the sky is clear and cloudless.
You will enjoy the central part of Vietnam from Mui Ne to Nha Trang in the first half of the year (January-July).
While Saigon and the Mekong Delta (southern Vietnam) will delight you most from November to February/March.
You can travel to Vietnam all year round. You just need to choose the right vacation spot.
Vietnam offers picturesque mountain landscapes, rice fields, jungles, beaches, Buddhist pagodas and cities in which traditional socialism and capitalist elements of modern times coexist peacefully. The capital of the country, Hanoi, carefully preserves the memory of the communist leader Ho Chi Minh: a marble mausoleum was erected in honor of the politician in the city. In the southern capital of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), you can get acquainted with the history of the Vietnam War: museums invite tourists to immerse themselves in the country's military past and visit the guerrilla tunnels of Cu Chi.
Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh
Following the trends of the times, local residents abandoned traditional occupations and switched to the service sector. Shops, workshops, and guest houses vying with each other to offer tourists various services, sometimes without neglecting to deceive or impose unnecessary services.
The Vietnamese carefully preserve the country's historical past and craft traditions. Thanks to their efforts, tourists can still admire fragments of ancient cities, ancient palaces and Buddhist temples. The traditional activities of local residents are reflected in the souvenirs that are usually brought from Vietnam:
- products and clothing made of natural silk;
- various types of coffee and tea;
- Buddhist attributes (figurines, coins, lanterns, incense);
- jewelry made of pearls, ivory;
- china;
- crocodile leather accessories.
Vietnam is often called a competitor to Thailand, which is popular among Russian tourists. They are similar in climate and culture, but Vietnam is still more traditional and strict. Here, a tourist will not find the abundance of services and entertainment that Thailand offers: a sexual market, medical treatment, shopping for every taste, a huge selection of excursions.
Features of the holiday
The climatic features of Vietnam are associated with its length from north to south. The north of the country (Hanoi, Halong) is more suitable for excursions, since the summer season lasts no more than 3-4 months. In the central part (Danang, Hoi An, Nha Trang), despite higher average annual temperatures, there are specific holiday conditions associated with periods of rain and hurricanes. The southern coast (Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Vung Tau, Phan Thiet) is most attractive for tourists, especially from December to April, when the air warms up to +30°C and the water - up to +25°C. However, here too the rainy season lasts about six months.
There are no clearly defined four seasons in Vietnam. Typically, weather conditions are divided into dry and wet seasons. But due to the peculiarities of the climate, hurricanes can rage and the sun shine at the same time in different parts of the country. Therefore, you need to study the weather of each region separately. For many tourists, for example, the rainy season is not an obstacle. Moreover, precipitation usually falls at night or in the evening and is short-lived.
Based on price dynamics in Vietnam, there are high and low seasons. The low season occurs between May and September, when the weather in many regions is unstable, although the central part of the country is quite comfortable. There are noticeably fewer tourists, which is why hotels and airlines are offering good discounts. At this time, those who want to save money, relax without crowds of people and are not afraid of the vagaries of nature go to Vietnam. The high season at the most popular resort - Nha Trang - begins in December and lasts until the end of winter. The influx of tourists continues in the spring. In general, the winter months define the high season in almost all major resorts in Vietnam.
Main tourist destinations:
- For a beach holiday, the islands of Phu Quoc and Con Dao, the resorts of Nha Trang, Mui Ne (or Phan Thiet), Vung Tau, Phan Rang are suitable;
- for excursion purposes they usually visit Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, the ancient cities of Hoi An, Sapa, Hue;
- For diving, surfing, mud therapy, and sea cruises, tourists go to Halong Bay and beach resorts.
Beach season by month
For Russian tourists who regularly lack warmth and sun, Vietnam is the ideal place to warm up in the midst of a harsh winter. Just in the autumn and winter seasons you can have a great rest in the southern resorts of the country. But in the north it is too cold - only about +10°C.
Nha Trang, located in central Vietnam, is subject to typhoons and rain from mid-autumn to mid-winter. Despite the air temperature above +25°C, the sea at this time is cold and restless, but the velvet season begins in February and continues until the beginning of May. In other months, Nha Trang is also suitable for beach holidays and diving.
Phu Quoc Island is rightfully considered one of the best seaside resorts in Vietnam. It is warm there all year round, although in summer and early autumn it is a little less comfortable to relax due to the rains. But in winter, the weather in Fukuoka is ideal and persists until June.
The best time to visit Con Dao Island is late winter and spring. In other months, rain, rough seas and winds are common. Another southern resort, Vung Tau, is subject to the rainy season from May to October. It is especially convenient due to its close location to Ho Chi Minh City - a large metropolis and cultural center. The high season in Vung Tau is November-April.
The resort area, located between the city of Phan Thiet and the village of Mui Ne, is usually designated by the name of one of the settlements. In fact, she doesn't belong to any of them. The resort is designed for a quiet family holiday. The rainy season lasts from early summer to mid-autumn, the warmest in April-May. The average annual temperature fluctuates around +30°C. It is worth noting that the wet season is the most preferable for a trip due to the absence of winds, rough seas and unpleasant neighbors - jellyfish near the shore.
Hoi An is located in the central part of the country. This city successfully combines the possibilities of excursion and beach holidays. To spend time on the coast comfortably, it is better to go in January-March. The period from March to August is suitable for those who can tolerate the heat well, and in the fall comes the rainy season and typhoons.
Da Nang is not yet the most popular city among Russian tourists, but it has long been chosen by Europeans and Asians. The resort area is located slightly away from the densely populated metropolis, separated from it by the Han River. The climate of Danang in December-March resembles the Russian summer, not as humid and suffocating as in tropical Phu Quoc or Mui Ne (Phan Thiet). In the period March-October, real heat sets in with temperatures above +30°C. Peak precipitation occurs in autumn and early winter.
Phan Rang is another promising developing resort in the south of Vietnam, located between Nha Trang and Mui Ne. Suitable for those who like a quiet, measured holiday, as there is not much entertainment there. The sandy coast of Phan Rang forms a small bay, so the sea is most often calm. In winter, the temperature fluctuates around +25°C, in summer it rises above +30°C, autumn is the time of rains and winds.
Season for diving and surfing
Vietnam is famous for interesting and affordable diving, and thanks to the division of the country into climatic zones, you can find a suitable place to explore the underwater world at any time of the year. The South China Sea fascinates with the beauty of its coral reefs and the diversity of its inhabitants. Here you can see moray eels, stingrays, octopuses, sharks, clown fish, marlin, and jellyfish. By the way, the underwater fauna off the coast is not so diverse, so divers often practice deep-sea diving. The most popular diving centers in Vietnam:
- Nha Trang;
- Phu Quoc;
- Con Dao;
- Hoi An.
In general, the spring-winter period is the most favorable for diving. For beginner diving enthusiasts, we can recommend Phu Quoc Island, where they are welcome from November to June. In February-September it is most comfortable to dive in Nha Trang; it is not without reason that it is considered the best resort for exploring the underwater world in Vietnam. Advanced divers choose Con Dao Island, which is treacherous with strong currents and great depths. For this purpose, it is better to plan a visit to Con Dao in March-August. In the central part of the country, diving enthusiasts are welcome in Hoi An. From late spring to mid-autumn you can go there for unforgettable impressions of the underwater world of Cham Island.
Surfing in Vietnam is still just gaining popularity, although the local climate creates ideal conditions for it. The resorts of Nha Trang and Phan Thiet welcome wave lovers in the fall and until mid-winter, and from January until the beginning of spring it is better to give preference to Vung Tau.
Excursion season
In principle, any time of the year is suitable for exploring local attractions, since excursions can be carried out even in the rain. The most popular among tourists for the purpose of cultural education are:
- Hoi An;
- Ha Long Bay;
- Hanoi;
- Ho Chi Minh City;
- Danang;
- Sapa;
- Dalat.
Hoi An is a city with a long history, the only one in the country listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you can admire the ancient streets and buildings, as if frozen in time, because there are practically no modern buildings in the city.
Ha Long BayThe rocks and caves of Ha Long Bay fascinate with their pristine beauty, and they can only be reached during excursions around the bay. It is better to go here during a visit to the capital of the country, Hanoi. The main attractions of Hanoi: Ho Chi Minh City Mausoleum and Museum, Royal Palace, Lake of the Returned Sword, museums of history and the Vietnamese Revolution.
Hue is the former capital of the state. Most often, tourists visit here the Imperial Citadel, the Tombs of the Emperors, and the national park. The large metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is convenient for its compact location of the main attractions that can be explored in just a day. Also of interest to tourists are the Cu Chi tunnels from the Vietnam War; they are located 30 km from Ho Chi Minh City.
Waterfall in Dalat
In Da Nang, people usually visit the Marble Mountains with their cave temples, museums, and hot springs. In Dalat, natural attractions deserve the most attention: waterfalls, mountains, valleys, tea and coffee plantations. In the vicinity of Sapa, tourists are offered mountain climbing, exciting trips to local villages, and exploration of natural beauty.
To summarize, it is worth noting that a large selection of holidays for every taste makes Vietnam attractive to tourists at any time of the year, regardless of the season and climate.
Vietnam has already become the most popular resort for Russians, as you can relax here all year round. But still, this country also has its own seasons when it is best to come here for a beach or sightseeing holiday. Let's look at when is the best time to vacation in Vietnam.
High season in Vietnam
The high season in this country begins in winter, the best time for a beach holiday. And many residents of Russia and Europe try to escape here from the severe frosts. Also, many try to get to Vietnam to celebrate the New Year here. Everyone has their own reason, but whatever it is, there are simply a lot of tourists here at this time.
The peak high season begins in December and ends in April. And at this time, Russians, French and Americans like to relax here. Vietnam owes such popularization among Russians to the fact that it is easy to get here, since there are regular flights from some Russian cities, and charter flights are also available in winter. And the only disadvantage of holidays in the high season is the high cost of tours.
Low season
The low season is marked by the beginning of tropical rains. This is the period from the beginning of May to the end of October. The weather is not quite suitable for a beach holiday, but, nevertheless, there are a large number of people who want to relax in Vietnam, since tour packages for tourists are much cheaper. People begin to book tours already in winter, but there is no need to rush here, since as summer approaches, tourists begin to offer tempting “hot” tours, which turn out to be much more profitable than winter bookings.
But it is worth keeping in mind that the rainy season forces tourists to approach their holiday destination very responsibly at this time of year. In addition to tropical downpours, there is a great threat of destructive strong typhoons that cover several dozen provinces. At this time, it is better to choose resorts such as Danang, Hue and Hoi An.
Beach season in Vietnam
The beach or swimming season lasts 365 days a year, but depending on the time of year it is necessary to choose certain resorts. We recommend that you additionally read the information about beach holidays in Vietnam, as well as where and when is the best time to go.
During the winter months, it is best to relax on the south coast:
- Nha Trang,
- Dalat,
- Phan Thiet,
- Vung Tau,
- Phu Quoc Island.
Here it rains from May to November, and the rest of the time the water temperature does not drop below +26 - +28°C. The velvet season occurs in January–February, when there is practically no precipitation. At this time, you can enjoy the most exotic fruits such as: mango, carom, banana, guava, watermelon, jackfruit, durian (the king of fruits), lychee, coconut, pineapple, mangosteen, rambutan, etc.
And there are a lot of durians here, although many tourists are put off by its appearance and not very pleasant smell. But if you peel it, you can enjoy the delicious pulp that warms a person from the inside.
But in the north of the country and in the central regions, the holiday season is at its lowest point.
