What are the symptoms when conceiving a child after IVF? Find out your first signs of pregnancy after IVF! Discharge after IVF in the early stages
IVF or in vitro fertilization has given many couples with problems conceiving the opportunity to become parents. This method is effective for various forms of infertility. However, since ovulation and embryo development occur under the influence of drugs, pregnancy management requires constant medical monitoring and attention from the woman.

The first signs of pregnancy after IVF in the early stages
After transferring fertilized embryos, future parents anxiously await positive results and hope to see two lines on the test. After the IVF procedure, the first results can only be obtained about a month later. But the woman begins to listen to her feelings immediately and tries to understand whether the attempt was successful. To determine pregnancy, there are several tests that doctors perform.
hCG
The most accurate information about whether fertilization and consolidation of the embryo has successfully occurred is. This hormone begins to be intensively produced during pregnancy. Its sufficient quantity is responsible for the successful formation of the fetus.
HCG in a pregnant woman promotes the production of progesterone. Indicators of the level of human chorionic gonadotropin are very important, as it shows all changes in a woman’s body and helps to identify abnormalities in the development of the embryo. In addition, this hormone protects the fetus from the woman’s body’s attempts to reject it.
HCG levels can be determined by urine and blood tests. For the first, special test strips are used. Upon contact with urine, a woman can see the treasured two strokes, since special components in the composition react to the amount of hCG. But this option for determining pregnancy is suitable for home use. It is usually carried out approximately two to three weeks after the embryo is transplanted into the uterus.
Initially, in weeks 1 - 2, the figure will average 150 mIU/ml. But a value of 50 mIU/ml also indicates pregnancy. A similar analysis after IVF is done every two days. Until 6 - 8 weeks, the level of hCG in the blood increases rapidly, and after that it gradually decreases.
In case of multiple pregnancy, the hCG level will be twice the normal level at each stage of the term. But this can only be determined by donating blood. I will also show two lines of test strips and only in a couple of weeks.
In the event of a miscarriage or frozen pregnancy, hCG drops sharply within literally a day. A slow rise in hormone levels in the first weeks indicates pathologies and disturbances in fetal development.
Ultrasound
From three weeks of embryo development, the patient is sent to. An earlier procedure is not advisable unless there is a suspicion of an ectopic pregnancy. During the examination, the doctor checks how the embryo is attached, the position of the fertilized egg, the uterine cavity, and the ovaries. The monitor shows the number of embryos, their size and timing, and how complete the corpus luteum is.
In addition, this analysis is very important to determine whether a woman is developing an ectopic pregnancy or other pathologies, since after IVF the percentage is significantly higher compared to natural conception.
Feel
But even before going to the doctor, a woman begins to listen to her body and tries to understand what changes are already taking place.
Pregnancy can be determined in the early stages by the following signs:
Discharge after IVF in the early stages
The nature of the leucorrhoea after the procedure can indicate how normally the formation and development of pregnancy occurs.
Fine
After embryo transplantation, nothing should change dramatically. When pregnancy is successful, women experience white, homogeneous or transparent odorless discharge.
They should not be abundant, nor should they be accompanied by unpleasant sensations such as burning, itching, and dryness. As a rule, a woman observes ordinary mucus that forms in the vagina to maintain normal microflora.
Discharge a couple of weeks after replantation, which has the following character, is considered especially dangerous:
- brown color indicates hormonal imbalance;
- curdled with an unpleasant odor - this is;
- watery with a greenish tint speak of, that is, a violation of the microflora.
In addition, with pathology, unpleasant sensations may occur, for example, itching, burning, dryness, and unpleasant odor.
How to correctly calculate the period by weeks after IVF
A pregnant woman is observed by reproductive specialists and obstetricians-gynecologists.
However, unlike natural pregnancy, when it is impossible to find out the exact date of fertilization of the egg, with IVF it is known - the day of embryo transfer or a day or two earlier.
To determine the period of fetal development, two methods are used - obstetric and embryonic.
In the first case, the countdown is from the day of the last menstruation. But this method is quite approximate. The embryonic method involves tracking the development of the fetus week by week. 14 days after replanting, an hCG test is performed. If it is positive, then the pregnancy is considered to have lasted for two weeks. But according to the obstetric method - 4 weeks. This turns out to be a difference of approximately 14 days.
After a successful transplant, the woman is observed in the clinic, and so that doctors do not have any confusion, two weeks are taken away from the day of embryo transfer. As a result, the period is counted from the day of the last menstruation.
Features of pregnancy after IVF
Women who have undergone the IVF protocol are under constant and close attention of specialists. They are prescribed certain tests and analyses:
- on hCG every two days for the first 2 months;
- Ultrasound in the third week of pregnancy;
- examination for the condition of the cervix;
- Ultrasound to measure the nuchal translucency and detect Down syndrome;
- AFP tests to detect defects in the formation of the central nervous system;
- within 10 - 14 weeks, the hCG level is checked to identify genetic developmental abnormalities;
- within 16 - 20 weeks, test for the amount of male hormones (17-KS);
- at 20 - 24 weeks, biochemical screening for developmental disorders is prescribed;
- from 32 weeks, CTG is done to measure motor activity and the number of heartbeats.

Hormonal support
After the embryo is transplanted into the uterus, women are prescribed special therapy. It is designed to provide the necessary level of hormones for pregnancy.
HCG tests are carried out to determine whether the embryo has attached to the wall of the uterus and the beginning of the development of a new life. Next, tests are taken to determine the level of hormones - whether the body is capable of bearing a fetus on its own or needs support.
Hormonal support begins even before embryo transplantation; for this, the patient is prescribed progesterone. It is needed to create comfortable conditions for the embryo so that it attaches to the wall of the uterus. Progesterone changes the structure of the endometrium. In addition, this hormone “weakens” the mother’s immunity, reduces the contractile activity of the uterine walls and promotes pregnancy.
All these measures are necessary to prevent miscarriage. This support lasts about 10 weeks.
After two months of such support, additional research is carried out on the hormonal profile, and the doctor prescribes an individual regimen. If the level of estradiol and progesterone is sufficient, then the medications are discontinued. If not, then the course is extended for the required period.
Is there a difference in pregnancy after the first and subsequent IVFs?
Unfortunately, although IVF is the most effective method of combating infertility, the percentage of successful protocols is only no more than 60%.
Future parents are warned about possible problems and the likelihood of repeated attempts. Every fifth pregnancy fails, and it happens that not a single transferred embryo takes root.
After an unsuccessful IVF protocol, doctors conduct additional research and find out the reasons for the failure. Next, they adjust the treatment regimen.
In subsequent protocols, experts suggest conducting a cryoprotocol, ICSI. During the first one, the embryos that were “preserved” after the first attempt are thawed. Of these, the strongest and most viable are chosen. This method gives a better chance of a successful protocol.
Depending on the form of the protocol, a medicinal load of drugs on the woman’s body is prescribed. In addition, she must undergo treatment and recovery after the first unsuccessful attempt. However, the number of protocols does not affect the quality of health of the unborn baby. Couples have completely healthy and charming children after 2, 3, 4 IVF.
Artificial insemination has made it possible for all willing couples to become parents. However, it requires more careful preparation and maximum attention from both doctors and the woman herself. After a successful protocol, such a pregnancy is no different from a natural one. The woman is also monitored at the clinic and regularly undergoes tests.
Pregnancy as a result of IVF is similar in characteristics to natural pregnancy. Due to the fact that this pregnancy was accomplished artificially, it is associated with certain risks.
A woman must monitor her condition after IVF. Signs of pregnancy after IVF before hCG can be observed immediately after the procedure itself.
IVF procedure
Before the fertilization process, a woman’s body stimulates the production of progesterone, for the so-called “superovulation”.
At this moment, the ovaries produce a large number of eggs that are completely ready for conception. Each one undergoes fertilization.
This should be done in order to increase the likelihood of conception. After completing the process of replanting the sperm with the egg, the doctor selects the healthiest fertilized embryos.
They will be transplanted into the uterus for further growth and development.
For a good pregnancy, it is necessary to maintain hormone levels. This is a necessary condition for the embryo (one or more) to attach to the walls of the uterus.
The appearance of the first signs
The very first signs of pregnancy after IVF before hCG appear after 7 days of conception. For some it is earlier, for others it is later.
You should not look for signs of pregnancy; this will not help you determine whether you are definitely pregnant or not. It is better to wait for a delay in the menstrual cycle or contact a gynecologist.
Sometimes those closest to you who know you well may notice changes in your mood. Anxiety and tearfulness appear. Get used to it, these symptoms will now accompany you at least until the second trimester.
So what should you do to avoid tormenting yourself and others about the outcome of IVF? There are reliable signs that can be noticed before the menstrual cycle is delayed and before contacting a gynecologist.
Signs
A girl who is attentive and listens to her health and well-being is able to independently determine the first signs of pregnancy after IVF before hCG and going to the doctor. This works best for women who have long wanted to get pregnant and are really looking forward to this moment.
The first signs of pregnancy after IVF before the menstrual cycle is delayed are practically no different from natural signs if pregnancy occurred naturally. They will increase gradually, day by day after IVF.
HCG changes after conception:
- 1-2 weeks – 25-300;
- 2-3 weeks – 1500-5000;
- 3-4 weeks – 10000-30000;
- 4-5 weeks – 20000-100000;
- 5-6 weeks – 50000-200000;
- 6-7 weeks – 50000-200000;
- 7-8 weeks – 20000-200000;
- 8-9 weeks – 20000 -100000;
- Week 9-10 – 20000-95000.
Bloody discharge
At the very beginning, when the egg is just attached to the walls of the uterus, there may be a slight spotting. This is called implantation bleeding.
It is not dangerous if it is scanty. More than 90% of women who have recently become pregnant experience them. But if there is a lot of blood and it does not stop flowing for more than 2 days, you should consult a gynecologist. There is a possible risk of miscarriage.
Painful abdominal cramps
After successful fertilization has occurred, the egg is attached to the wall of the uterus. A pulling, painful condition in the lower abdomen may indicate the onset of conception. When the embryo attaches to the wall of the uterus, it causes temporary contractions. This is where the pain comes from.
Changes in basal temperature
Basal body temperature is the temperature in the rectum. It must be measured in the morning while still in bed.
The woman should insert the thermometer into the rectum, while bending her legs slightly toward her chest.
What should it be like? If the thermometer shows 37 degrees or higher, then we can assume that conception has occurred. It is advisable to do this with a full bladder.
Breast enlargement and pain
This sign is hard to miss, because all the underwear you wore before becomes tight.
Bras and T-shirts begin to shrink precisely in the chest area, and not in the girth under it. The halos around the nipples also darken. Sometimes they (like the whole breast) begin to itch very much.
This is due to the fact that the skin on the chest tightens and dries out. It is important to lubricate your breasts with oil to avoid unsightly stretch marks.
The nipples may begin to leak colostrum if you press lightly on them. My chest sometimes hurts, especially when sleeping on my stomach.
Signs of a cold may appear. Who among us has not suffered from acute respiratory infections and acute respiratory viral infections? Everyone remembers this weakness and desire to sleep. These symptoms can also accompany a woman who has undergone IVF.
It is likely that your body temperature may rise, chills or fever will appear. An aversion to food and strong odors appears, or, conversely, strange taste preferences and an unexpected desire to smell gasoline, for example.
Vaginal discharge
Discharge of colorless (or white) and odorless fluid after IVF may indicate pregnancy.
This happens because when the embryo attaches to the wall of the uterus, it releases hormones into the blood. As a result of their work, the concentration of hydrogen ions increases.
This is necessary in order to protect the embryo from harmful and pathogenic bacteria and microorganisms. But do not forget that such a pH environment is very favorable for the development of fungal diseases.
This could be thrush (candidiasis) and colpitis. They are characterized by a cheesy discharge with the smell of sour cream.
Don't forget that any discharge (except clear, odorless discharge) should be treated. They can develop into chronic forms or cause serious diseases of the reproductive system in women.
During pregnancy, it is especially necessary to monitor your health and visit your doctor on time. Any diseases of the reproductive system will have a bad effect on the health of the unborn child.
If the disease is not cured in time, it can lead to infection of the child (which will occur in utero) or rupture during childbirth. Never treat emerging diseases or relieve symptoms.
You should definitely tell the doctor who will be caring for your pregnancy about them. He will prescribe effective treatment that will not harm the child and will help you.
Delayed menstrual cycle
This is the surest symptom that indicates pregnancy.
Especially if the woman had regular periods (normally, the cycle should be up to 28 days). Hormones stopped working to produce eggs. They are now working to preserve the pregnancy and the health of the baby.
What is hCG
HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin. It begins to be released immediately after conception and rises until mid-pregnancy, then declines.
It is secreted by the chorion, which from the first days of life protects the unborn child from its environment. It will later develop into the placenta.
HCG will increase day by day after the transfer. It is through the analysis and growth of the hormone that most women learn about their interesting situation.
HCG after IVF
The concentration of the hormone in the blood increases significantly 7-12 days after the menstrual cycle is delayed.
Therefore, hCG after IVF is taken on days 12–14 in order to get a reliable result. It is necessary to monitor the level of the hormone in the blood throughout all trimesters.
It is he who can tell whether everything is okay with the child and the expectant mother. It is important to control hormone surges, especially after IVF, as in this case the risk of miscarriage increases.
It is necessary to control the level of the hormone in the blood. The hCG growth chart will help with this. It should be issued at the antenatal clinic after registration.
The hCG table may change after embryo transfer if twins were diagnosed by ultrasound. In this case, the indicators will be twice as high as during pregnancy with one child.

Conclusion
Almost 80% of in vitro fertilizations result in the birth of two children. This is why hCG during pregnancy after IVF doubles that of a normal pregnant woman already at 7 days of conception.
As soon as the procedure for introducing an embryo into a woman’s uterus is completed, she begins to think: how to recognize the first symptoms of pregnancy? Often, already on the first day after in vitro fertilization, girls begin to listen to their body and look for any signs of an “interesting situation.” How to understand that the desired pregnancy has occurred?
The first signs that a girl is carrying a baby under her heart do not appear immediately. Pregnancy can be recognized only after the embryo has implanted into the uterine epithelium. Most often this happens a week after the procedure of its introduction into the body.
The first sign that the embryo has “taken root” in the uterine epithelium after in vitro fertilization is (human chorionic gonadotropin). The outer membranes of the embryo begin to produce this hormone. The production process starts immediately after implantation of the embryo into the girl’s uterine cavity. HCG is also called the “pregnancy hormone”. If the “interesting situation” goes well, then the level of its content in the body increases every day. The doctor makes conclusions about pregnancy based on the results of a blood test. Using the same analysis, he determines how the pregnancy is progressing.
How to recognize pregnancy after IVF?
Each body is individual, so pregnancy can manifest itself differently for all girls. Signs of embryo implantation as a result of in vitro fertilization are similar to symptoms of pregnancy that occurs in the usual way.
An “interesting situation” can be determined by several factors. Pregnancy may be indicated by enlargement of the mammary glands, sensitivity to touch, and the appearance of dark halos around the nipples. Sometimes the veins appear more clearly.
Girls need to go to the toilet more often, especially at night. So-called “lumbago” appears in the perineum. Painful and pulling sensations in the lower abdomen may appear. Occasionally, slight spotting may indicate embryo implantation. They have a “smearing” character and can bother the girl for two days. Then they go away on their own. Despite the fact that this is considered normal, doctors recommend that if such discharge occurs, undergo an ultrasound examination to make sure that the pregnancy is proceeding normally and neither the girl nor her child is in danger.
It happens that expectant mothers begin to have problems digesting food. This unpleasant phenomenon is accompanied by intestinal upset and repeated vomiting. In addition, the body can react sharply to the consumption of those foods that were previously absolutely familiar and did not cause any negative emotions. Unusual food preferences may appear, a combination of atypical products in one dish. Many girls noted that their appetite changes: either it decreases, or, on the contrary, it increases significantly.
Often the implantation of the embryo is also indicated by the appearance of thrush in a girl.
Another symptom is a keen sense of smell. Those odors that previously seemed completely ordinary may no longer be accepted by the body, and vice versa. In addition, mental instability or “emotional swings” appear. A girl can suddenly start having fun, and a second later she’s already crying because of the universal sadness that has rolled in. Often, excessive irritability becomes a problem, and relationships with other people can even deteriorate.
Pregnancy can be recognized by an increase in basal temperature.
There are certain conditions for its measurement. You need to set the thermometer early in the morning, around seven, without getting out of bed before. Otherwise, the temperature readings will be erroneous.
Expectant mothers often have problems sleeping. There is a “lark effect”: girls go to bed earlier and get up early in the morning. But this may cause headaches and drowsiness during the day. Pregnant women often get tired and the body requires rest.
Imaginary pregnancy
If pregnancy is long-awaited for a girl and a difficult path has been passed on the way to it, the effect of an imaginary pregnancy may occur. All the signs of an interesting situation are present, but there is no pregnancy itself. In the case when a girl is really preparing to become a mother, the appearance of all sorts of symptoms is due to hormonal changes in the body. A when pregnancy is imaginary, then its symptoms have completely different causes.
The appearance of imaginary signs of pregnancy can be stimulated by various infections, stress, nervous breakdowns, hormone imbalances, all kinds of disturbances in the gastrointestinal tract and poor nutrition, vitamin deficiencies in the body and the corresponding psychological state. Together, these changes create the illusion of pregnancy. Now there are many different ways to determine an “interesting situation” in the early stages. To dispel myths and not upset yourself needlessly, you can donate blood for an analysis of hCG content or buy a test at a pharmacy.
All girls who undergo the IVF procedure on the way to long-awaited motherhood always wonder about the first signs of pregnancy. It must be remembered that symptoms appear no earlier than a week after the embryo attaches to the walls of the uterus. Until this moment, waiting and looking for signs of future motherhood is pointless.
There is no need to wait for any special sensations; the symptoms of conception after an IVF procedure are similar to the symptoms of a normal pregnancy that occurs naturally. You need to feel confident, take care of your health and believe in the successful pregnancy and birth of a strong, healthy baby.
A married couple who dreams of having a baby is looking forward to the coveted two lines on a pregnancy test. The feeling of trepidation increases many times over if the spouses have undergone the IVF procedure and expect a positive result. The first ones appear about a month after fertilization, but the expectant mother, immediately after introducing the embryos into the uterus, listens to her body.
First signs of pregnancy after IVF
The most accurate sign of pregnancy is an increase in the level of the hCG hormone in the blood and urine. The size of hCG can be determined using a pregnancy test or by donating blood for analysis. HCG begins to increase from the moment of conception, but during the first days after fertilization there is no point in taking a pregnancy test, because The hormone at this stage does not yet make itself felt. The result will be known in at least a couple of weeks.
There are also a number indirect symptoms of pregnancy, such as:
- nausea,
- mood swings,
- low pressure,
- increase in basal and normal temperature,
- stomach ache,
- deterioration in general health,
- breast enlargement.
Fertilization often makes itself felt slight bleeding which are caused by the attachment of the embryo to the wall of the uterus. An important sign of pregnancy is delay of menstruation. However, an unambiguous conclusion about the presence of pregnancy in the early stages can only be made with the help of hCG.
One more Ultrasound is the method for diagnosing pregnancy, but it is not advisable to perform an ultrasound in the short term. In rare cases, an ultrasound examination is prescribed to determine the position of the ovum and exclude the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy. In this case, the ultrasound is performed transvaginally, because in the usual way the doctor will not be able to see the embryo at such an early stage.
Delay after IVF
One of the main signs of pregnancy after IVF is a delay in menstruation. Monthly discharge stops, and its resumption should be expected after childbirth. If a young mother breastfeeds, then menstruation returns 6-12 months after the birth of the baby.
Progesterone regulates these processes - it is what stops the discharge. If the results of the hCG test indicate pregnancy, and your period comes on time, this may indicate a threat of miscarriage, so you need to urgently visit a doctor, or better yet, call an ambulance. Emergency measures will help maintain pregnancy.
Pregnant women after IVF are under the supervision of specialized specialists literally from the first day of fertilization. If the doctor recommends going to the hospital, you should follow his advice.
Pregnancy test for IVF - reviews
Reviews about the use of tests to determine pregnancy after IVF are mixed. Some people talk about their high efficiency. Other patients who have successfully completed the test claim that pharmacy tests do not give an accurate result. You can use them at home, but only a blood test for hCG can confirm or deny early pregnancy.
Signs of pregnancy before taking an hCG test
Articles on the Internet are full of information about the signs of conception in the earliest stages. This list includes:
- delay of menstruation;
- nausea, dizziness;
- frequent urination;
- intestinal disorders;
- unusual taste preferences;
- weakness;
- temperature increase;
- fast fatiguability;
- nagging pain in the lower abdomen.
It’s worth noting right away that the craving for excessive consumption of pickles, the desire to try incompatible foods most often turns out to be a myth. Most pregnant and postpartum women claim that in the early stages their taste preferences have not changed at all. Signs of the so-called toxicosis of the first trimester also do not appear in the first weeks. They should be expected after 5-6 obstetric weeks.
It is imperative to listen to your body, but you should not take into account only the above signs. It is better to get tested for hCG.
Discharge in the early stages after IVF
Normal discharge after IVF is considered white or transparent, odorless. Any atypical discharge in the early stages of pregnancy is a reason to consult a doctor. Bloody discharge often indicates a risk of interruption. Other discharge may indicate the presence of infection. Do not self-medicate under any circumstances! Drugs that were previously effective may be prohibited during pregnancy due to the negative impact on the baby’s health.
Often during pregnancy, women are worried about thrush. The fact is that the changes that occur in the body after conception affect the vaginal flora, creating a favorable environment there for the development of candidiasis. Now more than ever, personal hygiene is important - take a shower twice a day, washing with a special intimate hygiene product.
Bleeding in the early stages of IVF
The expectant mother needs to learn to distinguish spotting from bleeding. If the volume of blood is significant, it has a bright red tint - this is a reason to panic. It is not advisable for a woman to move; she needs to lie down and call an ambulance. Doctors will take the pregnant woman to the hospital, where experienced specialists will try to maintain the pregnancy.
The cause of bleeding can be spontaneous miscarriage, placental abruption, or frozen pregnancy. It is impossible to independently determine the cause of bleeding by its nature - trust a specialist.
If you start bleeding, this indicates a threat of termination of pregnancy, but not a fait accompli. You can still fight for your baby.
Remember: under no circumstances should you try to stop the bleeding yourself; this should be done by specialists in a hospital setting.
To treat infertility in our time, in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology is becoming increasingly popular, during which eggs are fertilized and cultured outside the woman’s body, after which the fertilized oocytes are transferred into the uterine cavity of the expectant mother for further development, as in a normal pregnancy. Childbirth after IVF is also no different from childbirth after a natural pregnancy.
Indications for IVF
The in vitro fertilization procedure is carried out if an infertile couple has the following pathologies that prevent natural conception:
female infertility
absolute tubal (in the absence of fallopian tubes or their obstruction);
endocrine (not amenable to hormonal treatment);
unexplained infertility;
infertility associated with the presence of endometriosis;
cervical factor of infertility (in the absence of effectiveness of artificial insemination);
absolute infertility (in the absence or functional inferiority of the ovaries);
male infertility
oligoasthenozoospermia;
mixed infertility
with a combination of female and male factors of infertility.
Contraindications to IVF
Contraindications to IVF are the presence of the following pathologies:
Somatic and mental diseases in which pregnancy is contraindicated;
congenital anomalies (in case of repeated birth of children with developmental defects of the same type, with chromosomal abnormalities);
hereditary diseases;
hyperplastic conditions of the ovaries and uterus;
malformations of the uterus;
synechiae in the uterine cavity.
The essence of the IVF procedure
At the first stage of the procedure, superovulation is stimulated under the control of echographic and endocrinological monitoring. Then, under ultrasound guidance, the preovulatory follicles are aspirated. The next important step is the cultivation of fertilized eggs “in vitro”, in a special environment, for 3-5 days, after which they are transferred to the woman’s uterine cavity.
The period after embryo transfer into the uterine cavity is extremely painful and emotionally stressful, which is understandable, because often for a couple who decided to undergo the IVF procedure, the path to parental happiness was strewn with obstacles and disappointments. Having received hope - having undergone artificial insemination, a woman, as a rule, exhausts herself with nervous experiences associated with the fear of failing again. This is fundamentally wrong behavior, since after IVF the expectant mother, more than ever, needs the absence of stress and a calm, measured rhythm of life.
To improve the condition, you can use simple sedatives: tincture of motherwort, valerian, herbal sedatives. It is possible to take other drugs that have a stronger sedative effect, but their use must be previously agreed with the attending physician.
Lifestyle after embryo transfer
After IVF (after embryo transfer), some restrictions are introduced into a woman’s life:
After embryo transfer, your lifestyle should become calm and sedentary;
For the first 24 hours after the IVF procedure, it is recommended to remain in bed, refusing to go to the bathroom or shower;
it is necessary to exclude physical activity (housework, physical education, sports);
limit heavy lifting and any bending of the body;
stop driving a car;
take walks in the fresh air for at least 20-30 minutes a day;
limit sexual contacts;
avoid being in too hot or too cold rooms (saunas, baths, swimming pools);
maintain a sleep and rest schedule;
stop wearing tight trousers and jeans;
adhere to a balanced diet: the daily diet should include a large amount of natural products without preservatives, lean meat, natural fish, poultry, fresh vegetables, fruits, dairy products;
drink enough fluid (at least 2.5 liters per day);
limit the consumption of legumes, sauerkraut, smoked products, mushrooms;
Avoid being in crowded places and communicating with sick people.
Embryo implantation after IVF
Implantation after IVF occurs within forty hours from the day after the embryo is transferred into the uterine cavity of the expectant mother, and it is at this time that special attention should be paid to the recommendations of the attending physician.
Hormonal support after IVF
After the procedure, some women note the appearance of scanty bleeding and minor nagging pain in the lower abdomen. As a rule, these conditions are caused by the support of early pregnancy with hormonal drugs. Often, after IVF (after embryo transfer), a woman is prescribed medications with progesterone (Utrozhestan, Duphaston, micronized progesterone), which support the function of the corpus luteum. For the administration of drugs containing progesterone, various schemes and individual dosages are used, the choice of which is carried out in accordance with the state of the endometrium and the level of endogenous hormone synthesis.
Diagnosis of successful implantation
It is impossible to feel the implantation of the embryo itself, despite the fact that almost every woman tries to detect certain symptoms of conception after IVF. Signs of pregnancy: the appearance of drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, swelling of the mammary glands - are only subjective and cannot unconditionally indicate the success of the procedure. A more reliable proof of the presence or absence of pregnancy is a hCG test after IVF, which is recommended to be performed no earlier than two weeks after embryo transfer. A test after IVF carried out earlier will not give reliable results, since the level of the hCG hormone, the change in which this test is based, is still too low.
The main diagnostic method, which 100% confirms the occurrence of conception, is ultrasound. After IVF, it must be done on days 21-22. With the help of this study, you can verify the absence of ectopic (ectopic) pregnancy and determine the number of fertilized eggs (whether the pregnancy is multiple, since twins after IVF are not uncommon).
After successful implantation and pregnancy following IVF, a woman begins to experience signs of pregnancy that are similar to those of a normal pregnancy.
It is necessary to regularly measure general body temperature and basal temperature after IVF. Body temperature, as a rule, remains within normal limits. Most women experience an increase in basal temperature, which is associated with hormonal changes in the body.
Discharge after IVF
Discharge after IVF may be light, liquid in consistency, and in some cases bloody, which is normal and indicates implantation. A woman should be wary of their continuation for more than two days, as well as a change in their color and smell: if the discharge has acquired a yellow-green or brown tint, an unpleasant odor, and the amount of blood impurities in it has increased.
Pain after IVF
Nagging mild pain in the lower abdomen a few days after embryo transfer is normal and is associated with the process of implantation of the embryo into the wall of the uterus.
Menstrual cycle after IVF
If an attempt at artificial insemination is unsuccessful, women's periods after IVF, as a rule, are restored at normal intervals. Non-occurrence of menstruation with a negative hCG test and absence of pregnancy confirmed by ultrasound does not give hope for positive results after IVF.
Menstruation after unsuccessful IVF may be delayed due to continued use of hormonal drugs or the physiological characteristics of the woman.
