What subjects are important in mei iee. National Research University Moscow Energy Institute
If you consider energy to be the basis of everything, then you should choose the Moscow Energy Institute for education, because this is precisely the motto of this higher educational institution. It is more than eighty-five years old and today it unites within its walls about twenty thousand students from different cities not only in Russia, but also in other countries. So if you want to join this large and friendly family, then we invite you to find out in more detail about the rules for admission to MPEI in 2017.
Admission to Bachelor's Degree
If you are interested in the features of the introductory campaign, then first of all you need to consider its lines. So, it will be possible to submit documents from June 20. But the end dates for their admission differ somewhat depending on the forms of training, namely:
- July 14 - for those who have chosen a budget-funded form of education and are required to pass exams prescribed by the university;
- July 26 - a similar form of training, but without passing the specified exams;
- August 1 is the last day for submitting documents for those who have chosen a contractual form of study and will also take entrance examinations;
- August 10 - the above form of training, only without passing the specified tests.
Depending on what form of study the applicant chooses, the timing of all entrance exams will also depend. So, for the budget form they are scheduled for the month of July - from 1 to 26, but those who plan to pay for their education will take them from July 1 to August 10.
We will also pay special attention to the deadlines for enrollment, since these dates are the most awaited for all applicants without exception. The category of citizens who have the right to priority enrollment will learn the final result on July 29, when the corresponding order is issued.
As for eighty percent of all places on the budget, they will be filled by August 3, and the remaining twenty by August 8. There are slightly different deadlines for the enrollment of persons who enroll in a contractual form of study. There are four enrollment waves in total, three of which will be in July and one in August.
The next issue we will pay attention to is the package of documents. Of course, each applicant must fill out an application. Interestingly, in this university, in order to speed up the document submission procedure, it is possible to fill out this application in a special form, which can be found on the website. Other documents will still have to be submitted in the prescribed ways.
A proof of education must be submitted with the application. In this case, it can be a copy or an original. A passport or other document that can confirm identity is also provided. This, of course, is not the entire list of documents, but not all applicants are required to submit the rest, but only those who have additional rights in order to confirm them. For example, if an applicant needs to create certain conditions for passing entrance examinations, then he submits a document that confirms disability or certain health limitations.
As already noted, there are several ways to submit the above documents. The first is directly to the admissions committee, independently or by an authorized representative. However, do not forget that the powers of such a proxy must be confirmed by an appropriate document. The second is sending a complete package of documents by mail. Of course, recently it has become fashionable to submit documents electronically, but so far this method is not provided at this university. So keep this in mind and don’t put off submitting your documents until later, especially if you live in other regions of the country.
Benefits upon admission
The rules for admission to MPEI provide for some advantages that are provided to a certain category of citizens. The first benefit that is worth paying attention to is that it gives you the opportunity to enroll without passing all the entrance tests. Several categories of citizens will be able to take advantage of this right, including prize-winners and winners of the final stages of All-Russian Olympiads. They are also joined by members of teams that represented the Russian Federation at international Olympiads. At the same time, do not forget that the subjects in which individuals took part in the Olympiads must correspond to the direction or specialty that the applicant chooses. The results of the Olympiads, which were held over four years before the introductory campaign, are also taken into account. Champions or medalists of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will also be able to take advantage of this right.
In addition, another type of benefits is provided, namely the preferential right to enrollment. A much larger number of citizens will be able to take advantage of it, since there are fourteen categories, more details of which can be found directly in the admission rules.
One cannot help but recall individual achievements, which enable applicants to earn several additional points to their rating. This university will take into account 10 types of such achievements, including the winners of the “Hope of Energy” Olympiad or the world championship in robotics, which was called “Eurobot”. In this case, for each achievement you can be awarded from one to ten additional points. If, when counting all achievements, an applicant receives more than ten points, he is credited with only 10, since this is the established maximum.
So always be aware of the features of additional rights and take advantage of them.
Passing scores
Some citizens will not be able to complete the admission process without passing the entrance exams. Therefore, let us pay attention to their implementation features, as well as the passing scores that must be obtained both when enrolling in a state-funded program and in a paid form of education.
Entrance tests will be held in written form and in two languages: Russian and English, depending on the language in which the training will be carried out in the future. There are a total of three exams for each institute or faculty, each of which will have a certain priority, on which the passing score will depend. For example, if you choose a field of study such as mechanical engineering, then you need to score at least 40 points for the mathematics exam. In the case of mastering the “information security” direction, the passing score for the same exam is set at 35. A similar situation can be observed with other subjects. So, in some cases the minimum for the Russian language is 40 points, and in others - 50. Therefore, carefully study the admission rules so that no unpleasant situations arise in the end.
Master's degree at MPEI
As always, this procedure has its own characteristics that cannot be ignored. Therefore, we suggest considering its main aspects, as well as learning more about entrance exams.
The start date for submitting documents remains the same as for admission to a bachelor’s degree – June 20. This stage will end on the tenth of August. Moreover, these dates are provided for both paid education and the budget. The timing of all entrance exams is also different - from the first day of July to August 11. As for the enrollment procedure, there are some peculiarities here too. Firstly, everyone who is lucky enough to be admitted to the budget will be able to finally find out about it on August 16th. Secondly, those applying for the paid form will learn about the final decision two days later, namely on August 18.
Additionally, we will pay attention to taking into account the individual achievements of applicants. There are nine types in total and for each of them you can get from one to twenty points. As for the established maximum that can be credited in the presence of different types of achievement, it is set at 20 points.
Separately, we note that the passing score is set the same for all institutes and faculties, namely 40. By the way, you can already familiarize yourself with the entrance test programs on the university website.
Prices in 2017
When getting acquainted with the features of the admissions campaign, one should not miss such an important issue as the cost of training in the 2017-2018 academic year. After all, it will depend on him whether many students who plan to enroll in a paid form of education will choose this university. Let us note that there is no information on prices for next year yet, but this does not prevent us from studying the indicators of previous years in order to navigate this issue.
First, let's look at the cost of undergraduate education. Thus, the maximum price for one semester is provided for such a direction of training as “design”, namely 90,000 rubles. As for the minimum price, it is set at 55,500 rubles for several areas at once, including “management”.
Of course, the cost of master's programs for similar areas will be somewhat more expensive. For example, training for one semester for a designer will cost 123,000 rubles. Moreover, the minimum indicator in this case is provided in the amount of 67,500 rubles.
As for the cost of training in other specialties, they are provided in the interval between the minimum and maximum indicators.
Do not forget that the website and other electronic resources are not the only source of information about the university and the rules for admission to it. You can also attend an event such as an open day, which is held every year at the university so that everyone can visit the walls of this institution, communicate with teachers, and also ask questions regarding admission. Let us remind you that a similar event was already held on November 12. As for the dates for 2017, they have not yet been indicated. Therefore, if you still want to attend this event, be sure to follow the news on the university website.
September 8, 2017Constant transformations and changes for the better in the system of Soviet university education can be studied using the example of the Moscow Energy Institute, whose faculties and specialties changed along with discoveries in such scientific fields as electronics, telemechanics, radio engineering and many others. Throughout its history, MPEI was considered a prestigious university, which was difficult to enter. In this sense, little has changed in the history of the institute, except that new faculties have appeared that meet the requirements of recent times.
History of MPEI
Not every university in the country can boast of so many transformations that befell the Moscow Energy Institute (Technical University). The great need for engineers in the electrical and thermal field, caused by large-scale electrification of the country, became the reason for the merger in 1930 of two capital universities - Moscow Higher Technical School named after. Bauman and Institute of Economy named after. Plekhanov at MPEI. The Moscow Energy Institute has been constantly expanding since then, following the country's needs for new specialists.
For comparison:
- 1932 - 6 faculties: electrical power engineering, thermal engineering, electrical engineering, electric transport, telecommunications and engineering and economics.
- In 1933, the Physics and Energy Department was opened.
- In 1950 - the launch of its own thermal power plant, which is still a training ground.
- 1953 - the industrial heat and power engineering department appears.
- 1958 - 2 new directions in science were opened: departments of “automation and computer technology” and “electronics”.
- Since 1967, the university was granted the right to train students according to its own curriculum, which brought the entire educational process at the Moscow Energy Institute to a completely new level.
- Its faculties and specialties were constantly updated. So by 1975 there were 16 faculties in 44 specialties.
Since 2000, the status of the institute has changed again. Since it becomes a leading university with training programs in the field of electronics, energy and IT technologies, it is awarded the name National Research University Moscow Energy Institute.
Currently, MPEI unites 9 institutes, which have a total of 70 faculties, more than 170 scientific laboratories, its own thermal power plants and television center, a stadium, a library and a cultural center.
The main direction of study at MPEI
Every year this institute recruits students for bachelor's, specialist's and master's degrees. In order for an applicant to enter the Moscow Energy Institute, the passing score must meet the criteria established by the faculties. Here, for example, are some of them:
- At the Department of Power Engineering the following are taken into account: the minimum score in mathematics is 40; in physics - 40; in Russian - 50.
- Department of Engineering and Economics: in mathematics the minimum score is 35; in physics - 40; in Russian - 40. Department of Humanities and Applied Sciences:
- Faculty of Design: drawing - 40 points, portfolio - 40, Russian language - 40, literature - 35.
- Faculty of Linguistics: Russian language - 40 points, foreign language - 25, history - 40.
Thus, in all 9 inpatient departments, 5 evening and 5 correspondence departments for each specialty, the subjects required for admission and the minimum scores based on the Unified State Examination results are indicated.
Notification of applicants is carried out through bulletins of the Moscow Energy Institute. Passing scores for 2017 could also be found out at the annual open day.

Admission to MPEI in 2018-2019
Many applicants are concerned about the question: how much does training cost and how to apply? Tuition fees for the commercial department are approximately 36,000 per semester. However, the university also has budget departments. In order to enroll on a budget, you need to score a passing score. Like many other universities, MPEI accepts Unified State Exam scores.
The passing score in 2019 for admission to undergraduate programs depends on the faculty. On average, from 138 to 227 points based on last year’s results, depending on the form of study and the chosen faculty. At the moment, the official website www.mpei.ru does not contain information about the passing score.
In addition, the official website lists faculties and departments. As well as forms of education at the university. In Moscow, you can get an education at the commercial and budget departments. Depending on the desire of the student, he can choose full-time or part-time study.
It will be useful to visit the official website. There is a lot of important information about MPEI for applicants and students. Why choose MPEI
At the moment, MPEI is considered one of the prestigious universities that has a technical direction. Training is provided in the field of thermal and nuclear energy, management and many other areas. The MPEI diploma is valued not only in Russia, but also abroad, as evidenced by numerous awards.
The institute has international programs that allow you to obtain two diplomas. Universities in Germany and Finland cooperate with the educational institution. In some faculties, students are taught in German or English.
In order:
1. Admission.
The first thing I encountered upon admission was a large queue of applicants. There were two queues - those who registered in advance (it went a little faster) and those who did not. It was hot and stuffy.
The registration itself was quick and standard - you hand over your documents and receive a piece of paper stating that they were accepted.
It's pretty easy to do. In 2016, 200-220 points were enough. I was very pleased that for a certain number of points an increased scholarship is awarded.
The admission situation is easily tracked on the website. You can see who is taller than you and what your chances are. Comfortable.
2. Organization.
At the very beginning, a student curator is assigned to each group, who explains what and how it is done at the university. At the beginning of September, the group is taken to receive textbooks, shown around the buildings and told about physical education groups.
In addition, there is a non-student curator. Our group, unfortunately, was unlucky with him. I heard the phrase “not my problem” from him several times; in addition, he made unflattering statements about some students. Fortunately, I had to meet with him a couple of times a semester.
Each faculty has its own Trade Union Bureau. Parties and various events are held (for example, console games or board games). It's also fun outside of school.
Scholarship cards (from this year also a pass to the university) are also issued at the university. But there are often problems with this - huge queues for Sberbank employees, sometimes you have to stand for nothing - it turns out that the card is not ready yet.
The schedule is quite convenient. With a break between classes of 15 minutes, it’s easy to get to any building. Between the second and third couples there is an hour of lunch. The official schedule is 6 days, but Saturday is always listed as a “study day.”
3. Dormitory.
MPEI has several dormitories and all are located within walking distance from the university. The minimum distance is 10 minutes of walking at a slow pace, the maximum is half an hour. Placement depends on the faculty.
The dormitories are mostly corridor type, but there are also block dormitories. Conditions in block rooms are a little better.
On the downsides: they are very densely populated, denser than before. A room designed for two people can accommodate three people, and a room designed for three people can accommodate four people. There are cockroaches in the hostel.
Check-in to the hostel occurs at the end of August. You need to register on the website and arrive at the appointed time. Then everything is easy - there are instructions at the entrance and members of the student council help.
4. The learning process and teachers.
The teachers are different. Some teach very well, some teach very mediocre. Programming was disappointing. In the field of "Informatics and Computer Engineering", lectures on programming are completely useless.
On the other hand, pretty good math and physics.
Physical education is divided into several groups - swimming, athletics, aerobics, etc., in addition, there is a special medical group for those who have health problems. Groups study separately and each has its own teacher.
There is a lot to learn. There is enough homework. But you still manage to be lazy.
In the first year, colloquiums are held - a kind of trial version of the session.
There are also test weeks, during which tests are carried out and grades for the semester are assigned. These grades do not affect anything, but if you get more than three Ds, there is a high probability that you will be called to the dean's office. If you have two unfinished weeks (a large number of failures), you can get a reprimand. Three reprimands lead to expulsion.
5. Condition of the offices.
The buildings are in fairly good condition and are often renovated. The laboratories are in good condition. Other audiences are different. Some are excellent, some have old disgusting desks covered in writing by students.
There are a couple of interesting places - a slide instead of stairs in building E, as well as a non-working paternoster (continuous elevator).
When searching for reviews about the university, I came across completely different ones - from praise and adoration to angry criticism in the spirit of “the university is stuck in the USSR.”
In my opinion, the university is above average. There are disadvantages, like in any other place, but the university is worthwhile. I don’t regret entering MPEI.
