Todd Key
American Todd Key attracts attention at literally every cycling competition in which he takes part. And this is not surprising, because he is the only professional cyclist in the world who does not have an arm and... a leg.At the age of seven, Todd had a bad fall and broke his arm, after which it began to become deformed and stopped growing. He lost his leg at the age of seventeen - doctors were forced to amputate it due to knee cancer.
But Todd Key did not accept his injuries. He started studying different types sports, eventually giving preference to the bicycle. Now he even takes part in professional bicycle racing, being the “face” of the AirparkBikes company, which created a special bicycle for this unusual athlete.

Key also gives lectures and meetings with people who have recently become disabled. By his example, he convinces them that life is not over, success awaits them ahead, but the main thing for this is not to get hung up on own problems, but regularly discover new horizons.
The dance duet Hand in Hand is yet another proof that the absence of arms or legs is not an obstacle to achieving worldwide success in areas where it would seem impossible to do anything without these limbs.
The ballet couple Hand in Hand consists of dancers named Ma Li and Zhai Xiaowei. The girl in this duet does not have an arm, and the guy does not have legs. But this did not stop them from creating their own successful dance show, which is applauded by audiences around the world.
Each of this couple tries to compensate and level out the injuries of their own partner with the help of their actions. And they do it very well.

Vera is the fifth child in the family. In the maternity hospital, Antonina Stepanovna, the girl’s mother, was offered to give up her disabled child. But she and her husband never even thought about it. “Since God gave it, then we will raise it,” - that’s what the parents decided and took the baby home. Doctors said that the baby would not live to see 5 years. But despite everything, Vera grew up and became a real pride in the family.
Since childhood, Verochka was the most active of all the children and began to show independence early. At three years old, the baby was already jumping on her butt all over the house, and at five she learned to walk. At the age of 14, she was given a prosthesis to make walking more comfortable.
In terms of development, she was no different from other children, but she had to be trained at home. By the way, she writes with her foot so neatly that some people cannot even write with their hands!
Vera’s parents worked for days to provide for their family. The older children also went to work; by that time they already had their own children. The adults had no choice but to leave Vera in charge, so that she would look after the children. She herself was only 6 years old at the time, but at the same time she fed them, put them to bed, and even managed to clean the house. Mom and dad didn’t even notice how their girl became independent and learned to do everything with her feet.
In the garden, Vera has no equal; she copes with everything perfectly. She loves flowers very much and one can only envy her well-kept garden. And the kind of paintings and towels the girl embroiders are simply a sight for sore eyes. Her works have repeatedly won prizes at all-Ukrainian competitions. In a word, Vera is a real craftswoman!

From her youth, she literally learned to apply makeup very well on a whim. All the local girls and women stood in line to have Vera apply their makeup. According to the girl herself, she learned everything herself, tried it, combined colors.
When the article about Vera first came out, her life changed dramatically. The Oriflame Ukraine company became interested in the gifted girl. She was called to the capital, where she underwent training. Now the girl is a certified makeup artist! After that, Vera started selling cosmetics well. She was often invited to various television shows. She inspired even healthy people with her example.
6 years ago Vera got married. I must admit that she had many suitors. Vera is the soul of the party and knows how to gather people around her. Of all the fans, I chose one - Peter. And even then, before this I checked it for five years.
After the wedding, they had a healthy girl, Evelina, and a couple of years later, a son, Arseny. Vera did not trust anyone to care for her children. She did everything herself: fed, swaddled, bathed and put her to bed.

Family life for Vera and Peter did not work out. After the wedding, my husband started having problems with alcohol. The woman thought that she a strong character will help him cope with this. But just a year ago she ran out of patience. The couple divorced.

Vera calls her children her wings and loves them madly. Evelina often asks: “Mom, why don’t you have hands?” “As a child, I was capricious, and God punished me like that,” Vera laughs it off. Every time after these words, Evelina hugs her and says: “Mom, we still love you. You are the best!" Looking at his sister, little Arsenchik also runs to hug his mother.
After the divorce, the husband stopped helping his wife and children. The previous earnings from selling cosmetics no longer exist. But Vera was not left alone. Thanks to the fact that her story was known far beyond Ukraine, many people are helping her.
“Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people learned about me from the publication, and many became my friends,” Vera tells Fakty journalists. - I didn’t even know that this newspaper was so popular abroad. A lot of Ukrainians living in Italy, Canada, the USA called me... After I gave birth to Evelina, our emigrants began to actively help me. For example, Slava Bilas and Olga Smoley from America send parcels and money transfers to this day. You should see what beautiful shoes, clothes, toys they send! And one migrant worker from Italy has already sent 23 parcels: sweets, dolls, toys... My children are provided with the best.”
In addition, for her wedding she was given a food processor, a washing machine and a decent amount of money so that she could buy everything she needed. Vera bought a refrigerator with them. Recently, they were given a plasma TV.

A difficult fate did not break this woman. She faces all challenges with courage and a smile on her face and never gives up.
Colombian Zulie Sangino was born with the rare genetic syndrome Tetra-Amelia. She was born without arms or legs, and she has to overcome a lot of difficulties every day.
Although her mother loved the girl and taught her all the necessary skills, she had no one else except her loving mother. For a long time she was all alone. Only to adolescence Zuli found herself some friends.
“As a child, I was teased about being an alien. The children laughed and mocked me.”
Since childhood, she was beaten by her peers. And at the age of 15, Zulya was raped by teenagers. After this, the girl thought about suicide.
“My mother and friends saved me. Their support, their love and faith in me brought me back to life.”
Now, at 25, the girl gives lectures in prisons and boarding schools. She is a popular TV presenter. “I want to show everyone who is desperate that there is always a chance for better life
. I often interact with children with disabilities and tell them that any limitations, be it mental or physical, cannot hold them back.”
“After I first gave a talk to students about bullying, I received so much support that I realized that it was my calling to inspire other people and help them become kinder and stronger.”
“I had a relationship with a young man that broke up. But I hope to meet the man with whom we will start a family.” Galya Lobova, a Chelyabinsk resident who was born without arms and legs, celebrated her 27th birthday wearing new prosthetics. Both legs and left hand
The first thing that catches your eye is the design of the prostheses. The dentures are made to look like jeans - they don’t have to be worn with long pants on top, shorts are enough. However, Galya is a little shy: she says that she still feels much more confident in trousers, and you wouldn’t guess at first glance that the legs are not real. The same story with the hand - the prosthesis is barely distinguishable from real hand, if Galina has a trowel.
In Europe, it is customary to wear shorts and skirts: if you have prosthetics, no one pays attention to it, but here in Russia this is not yet accepted. That’s why I try to wear pants and a sweater,” says Galya. - Yes, and my son is not used to it yet: if the hand lies separately, he can easily take it, touch it, bring it to me, saying, Mom, put it on quickly. But as soon as I put it on, he doesn’t like it, he starts whining. The same thing with my legs: the left one does not bend because of my illness, but the right one was made mobile.
Galya says little about her trip to Moscow: every day (and the girl stayed there for a whole month) she had to come to the clinic for fittings and “walking lessons.” It was not difficult for Galina to stand on her prosthetics, but she had to learn to walk like a baby. It was also not easy because Denis and Valera remained in Chelyabinsk.
In Moscow we lived in a hotel, and every day we went to the hospital: first for fittings, then I learned to walk. For many hours. Because I lost the habit of walking a long time ago - last time I walked on prosthetics in 2004. And even earlier, in orphanage, we constantly went to camps and there, of course, I also walked on prosthetics and moved more. I didn’t have a stroller then. Therefore, when I stood on them in Moscow, I was immediately able to resist. But at first there were abrasions, you had to get used to it, recalls Galya. “I wasn’t alone, no, my friend Alena supported me, and we have friends in Moscow who gave us several walks around the city,” recalls Galya. - We constantly worked with the prosthetist who made my arm and legs - his name is Tigran Gharibyan. He always wanted me to constantly use prosthetics, but so far it’s difficult for me.
Speaking about difficulties, Galya notes that it is not easy for her to get by without crutches: she has little stability and walking does not yet bring much joy, since the girl gets very tired. It’s the same story with going to university - Galya is a second-year law student at ChelSU. My husband takes his beloved to the university by car, and then in a stroller.
I’m still not good with my hand either, since the material is special and doesn’t like water. It turns out that the mug cannot be rinsed and the linen cannot be washed. You can't hold your husband's hand either. We tried to walk hand in hand, but it wasn’t very comfortable,” says Galya. - Now I walk on two crutches because I am unstable. By the way, my classmates are very kind: someone can take me home or help me get up, for example, when there is a break between classes.
After graduating from university, Galya plans to become a lawyer and help people who find themselves in difficult life circumstances. In this regard, the girl has a rich life experience. In the meantime, the most main concern Lobov - raising a son. The main chores around the house, caring for the baby and helping Galya fall on Denis every day. Who, let us remind you, is also disabled - a young man suffers from cerebral palsy. However, the smile does not leave his face - he supports his wife in everything, helps her put on and take off dentures, hospitably welcomes guests and modestly admits that the main thing is that our family is together and, therefore, everything will be fine with us.
Saying goodbye, Galya asks: “Say a big thank you to all caring people.”
24-year-old Anastasia Kuzheleva has been missing arms and legs since birth - up to the elbows and knees; this illness has never driven the girl into despair. Nastya has love, has work and studies. The portal “Hometown” spoke about her life.
Even though my passport says I’m Anastasia, everyone calls me Asya, I’m used to it and I like it,” says the 24-year-old girl. - Now I’m starting my first session, last year I entered VGSPU with a degree in Educational Psychology.
Now Asya lives in Vologda region, but she was not born here. The girl comes from a small village.
I have four older sisters, all of them ordinary; why I was born without upper and lower limbs is unknown; the doctors could not say anything to my mother about this,” says Asya. - My sisters and I are very friendly. Now, however, we rarely meet, since everyone lives in different parts countries.
Asya misses her mother and her family very much and makes sure to visit the village once a year.
She always supported me in everything, taught me to swim, and I did it, oddly enough, without much difficulty,” says the girl. - Yes, to be honest, I have never realized and will never be able to realize that I am somehow different from others.
According to the girl, people with disabilities practically do not need any special adaptation to life in society. Like many other people with disabilities, Asya believes that society rather needs to learn to communicate with special people.
As a child, I was friends with all the local kids, and everyone treated me wonderfully, no sidelong glances, any special treatment“I don’t remember,” says the Volgograd resident. - Moreover, sometimes it came to a fight when the boys started arguing about who would take me to the wheelchair to our elementary school.
Asya had a new teacher in third grade; for some reason she refused to work with a special student. Then the girl was transferred to home schooling, and the schoolgirl entered the 5th grade on a regular basis.
Friends went there on bicycles, and I sat in the back on the trunk,” Asya laughs.
Foreign sponsors helped Asya purchase her first prosthetics.
One day the Germans arrived from charitable organization, we were recruiting children for a trip to Germany,” recalls Asya. - And so I visited there three times on vacation, lived in a German large family. For me and other guys they always organized an extensive entertainment program, I even visited Disneyland. It was my German friends who bought the first prosthetic legs.
Every two years, the prostheses need to be replaced; sponsors helped to do this three times. In 2017 came to the rescue Russian program, then the girl received domestic prostheses for the first time.
But I’ve never worn prosthetics on my arms and I don’t intend to - I don’t think it’s advisable,” the girl explains. “I don’t have any problems at work, at school, or at home—I can easily do anything, including write and draw.” I even went to art school at one time, and now I have an easel and paints at home.
“No problem, I can do it easily!” Anastasia lives with such positivity, it can’t help but surprise. There was only one time in her life when someone reacted strangely to her appearance.
“I was flying to Moscow, and when I sat down in my seat, my neighbor, a middle-aged man, called the flight attendant and asked why I wasn’t placed somewhere separately,” the girl says. “But I really don’t know what motivated him - maybe he just thought that it would be hard for me and that I would need special help.” Or maybe something else... You know, I catch myself thinking that I probably wouldn’t know my reaction either if I suddenly saw myself from the outside.
Now Asya works in a bank and studies at the university at the same time.
First, I mastered the specialty of a secretary-typist, and then my aunt suggested that I go to the Kalachevsky technical boarding school to study banking,” says Asya. - By the way, I just fell in love with Kalach-on-Don! And now I’ve come to work in Volgograd, I’m working in contact center one of the largest banks. I like the work, but I want to study to become a psychologist - it’s interesting to me!
Asya's dream is a strong family.
“I have a beloved young man, we are planning to get married and have children,” the girl smiles.
Asya sees no obstacles on her path; she wants to learn to drive, get a license and buy a car. There is no doubt that such a strong girl will succeed.
