Historical necessity of the profession of organizer of work with youth. Directions of youth policy: specifics of working with youth
DIRECTION OF PREPARATION
040700 “ORGANIZATION OF WORK WITH YOUTH”
Today, the key role of youth as a special social group in the development of the state and society is becoming more and more obvious. Young people today are not only a rising replacement for the older generation, but also an immense potential for the implementation of new ideas. However, young people often experience difficulties with self-determination: what exactly to expect from life, from the people around them, what profession and job they should choose. After all, among the variety of possibilities, there are false options that are not capable of delivering what was expected. Sometimes a young person does not have support from his family or the state to test himself in one or another type of activity. In the modern world, there are many professions, and choosing the one that suits your natural abilities and inclinations is a difficult task. If you are still wondering what craft to devote your life to, then we have the answer. For those who are active and want to lead others, and are also involved in social activities, there is a specialty “Organization of work with youth.”
Let's start with the history of the specialty
Organizers of work with youth (at that time the specialty was called “worker”) began to be trained as specialists in 1969, when the Higher Komsomol School was created in Moscow, subsequently, in 1990, renamed the Youth Institute. At the same time, a network of professional retraining and advanced training of Komsomol workers was created. This activity was carried out in party schools at various levels, and in the early 70s a network of zonal Komsomol schools was created.
Thus, in the mid-70s of the 20th century, a system of professional training and retraining of organizers of work with youth developed in the Soviet Union, which ceased to exist with the collapse of the Komsomol in 1992. And only in 2004, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation decided to open, as an experiment, a new specialty “Organizer of work with youth” in a number of universities in the country.
Now the implementation of state youth policy is one of the main foundations of the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation. Graduates of the “Organization of Work with Youth” master the information, managerial, psychological, pedagogical, legal and other fundamentals of working with youth, and are able to justify and implement youth policy projects.
In the Yaroslavl region, the first university that began to train specialists in working with youth is the Yaroslavl State Pedagogical University named after. K.D. Ushinsky. The specialty was opened in the 2005 academic year, and in 2006 it was decided to rename the Department of Social Pedagogy into the Department of Social Pedagogy and Organization of Work with Youth.
The Department of Social Pedagogy and Organization of Work with Youth is one of the youngest in the YSPU named after. K. D. Ushinsky. Its opening was preceded by several reorganizations in the structure of the university. Currently, the department produces bachelor's degrees in three areas: psychological and pedagogical education, profile "Psychology and social pedagogy"; “Organization of work with youth”; "Social work". Since 2011, masters have been trained in the direction of “Psychological and Pedagogical Education” in the profile “Psychology and Social Pedagogy” with the award of the title “master”, and since 2015, training has been carried out in the master’s program “Organization of Work with Youth”.
The department includes 4 doctors of science, 12 candidates of science and 2 assistants. In addition, practical classes are conducted by employees of the Youth Agency, the Youth Policy Department of the Yaroslavl City Hall and the Yaroslavl Regional Youth Information Center.
The scientific and methodological Center for Working with Youth successfully operates on the basis of the department, such events as the regional stage of the All-Russian competition of professional skills of workers in the field of youth policy are held (this year there will be a special nomination for students), the Olympiad "", student conference " History of the youth movement in the Yaroslavl region in the post-reform period».
The Department and Center for Work with Youth is a platform for interaction between students, practitioners and researchers to solve conceptual and practical problems of organizing work with youth in the region, which allowed, among other things:
Adjust the curriculum of the specialty " Organization of work with youth»;
Adjust the concepts and programs of a number of city and regional events carried out by subjects of youth policy and youth organizations;
To facilitate the entry of students into the governing bodies of youth organizations, to develop and lead large-scale projects (for example, the city coordinating council of high school students), to become members of public governing bodies (Youth Public Chamber, General Youth Assembly of the Yaroslavl Region, Personnel Governor's Program " Youth Government of the Yaroslavl region"), get a job in the Youth Agency of the Yaroslavl Region and the Youth Policy Department of the Yaroslavl City Hall and other youth institutions;
Involve specialists and industry leaders in the implementation of the educational process.
The department carries out research on orders from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation and the Department of Education of the Yaroslavl Region.
The youth portal asked Tatyana Kiseleva, head of the department of social pedagogy and organization of work with youth, Who are youth workers?
These are active, creative, purposeful guys who know how to help society, see the problems that face them, and know how to organize themselves and others. For them there is no question: “who will do this?”, they always know for sure - we!
Is it possible to combine social activities or work with study?
A student's studies in organizing work with youth include participation in youth events and their analysis, preparation and conduct of forums, seminars, charity events, and sociological research. He practically does not listen to classical lectures and seminars. Webinars, lectures in the form of press conferences, trainings, liberal clubs, round tables are the most popular forms of classes. That is why the combination of study and participation in social activities is only welcome for students in this direction.
The youth portal also found out from those who have already completed their studies and started working in their specialty the answer to the question: “What did studying in the specialty “Organization of work with youth” give you? »
Project Manager YaOOO RSM " Yaroslavl Regional Junior League KVN", Director of the regional specialized camp for participants of the KVN movement "Summer in the KVN style" Yulia Portretova:
First of all, training in the specialty " Organization of work with youth"gave me confidence and the realization that I had finally found the place where I like to study and work in my specialty at the same time. A year before I got to YSPU at the Faculty of Social Management, I changed two educational institutions and only the third time I finally understood where my soul lies. Over the five years of study, I gained a wealth of experience, which I was able to fully apply in practice, and also met many people with whom I fruitfully collaborate in the professional field, and with some I even developed strong friendships. The best part is that the teachers who accompanied us for five years were, first of all, friends and mentors for us. They were the ones who could help realize any of your ideas, and now, when meeting them at events or just on the street, it’s nice to know that they remember you, know you and are still ready to help with advice.
Leading specialist of the department for the development of general and additional education of the Department of Education of the Administration of the Tutaevsky Municipal District of the Yaroslavl Region Dmitry Konev:
First of all, the training gave me the necessary theory, as well as practical skills to work in the field of youth policy. Every day I use them in my work, which is related to the upbringing and additional education of the younger generation.
Alina Timofeeva, specialist in working with youth of the art department of the State Autonomous Institution YAO "Palace of Youth":

A youth worker is a specialist who works directly with young people and coordinates work with young people.
What is this work?
The purpose of youth work is to create the prerequisites and support for young people in their ability to cope with life in society. Youth workers work with young people aged 7–26 years.
The profession of a youth worker can be conditionally classified as an auxiliary profession. The Youth Worker supports youth's personal development and learning outside of school, family and work and creates the conditions necessary for its achievement. It develops, implements and evaluates programs and projects aimed at youth, involves youth in the design and implementation of activities, and promotes cooperation between youth. A key activity is to create and maintain trusting relationships with young people; developing their initiative and responsibility, as well as creating services that support them. An important part of the work will be cooperation with young people, with their parents and with specialists in other fields. The work is very diverse and has a dynamic nature: organizing events, participating with young people in international, state, county and local events, communicating with people and institutions.
The tasks of youth workers working in different positions may vary depending on whether the work is of a managerial nature, or is related to planning, or whether the specialist is directly involved in instructing young people. The main tasks of the head of an institution engaged in work with youth, the head of a youth society, the head of a hobby school, the head of a youth camp, the youth adviser of a city or rural municipality government, the youth adviser of a county government, a youth worker at the state level, and also partly and a youth project worker - this includes coordinating work with young people, technical work and maintaining documentation, communication with the public and with specialists in other fields, as well as administrative work and organizing events. The main tasks of a specialist working directly with young people (a worker who informs youth; a specialist in working with youth in an institution engaged in working with youth; a specialist in working with youth in a youth society, a teacher in a youth camp, a leader of a circle, a teacher in a hobby school) , is instructing and guiding youth, counseling, organizing activities and events of interest.
What are the working conditions?
A youth worker manager's working hours are typically five days a week and eight hours a day. Professionals working directly with young people often have to work evenings and weekends, and much of their work involves a variety of activities outside of school. In addition, events for young people are organized during school holidays and in the summer.
Many youth-oriented events take place outdoors. A youth worker often creates the necessary means and conditions for work himself, finding funding sources (sponsors or foundations).
What about health requirements?
Since the main emphasis of the work is on social activities - on communication with young people, the moral burden can be quite large. You have to come into contact with very different people, often with difficult problems and situations. All of this requires tolerance, self-control, and the ability to avoid burnout.
What knowledge, skills and character traits are needed in this profession?
A prerequisite for working with youth is the presence of broad knowledge in the field of youth policy, organization and methods of working with youth, organization of education, human rights, pedagogy, psychology, knowledge of the principles of counseling and the basics of management. Organizing and conducting events requires the ability to work in a team, organizational and public speaking skills. The youth worker must be aware of the reality of young people's lives and local conditions, be able to assess the situation and needs and be able to apply methods appropriate to the work. In addition, he must know how to ensure safety and be able to cope in a crisis situation.
The youth worker should act as an example for young people, treat everyone equally and be respectful and tolerant of each young person's opinions and worldview.
Working with young people requires the ability to evaluate and provide feedback, while collaborating with organizations requires the ability to network. Since youth work is largely project-based, there is a need to deal with the preparation of project applications, as well as management, project implementation and reporting. The ability to collect and transmit information will be necessary. Teaching skills and creativity will be helpful.
Character traits useful for working in this profession will be: honesty, openness, communication skills, creativity, initiative and willingness to cooperate, the ability to make decisions and adapt. Working with people requires tolerance, empathy, balance and the ability to tolerate stress, while at the same time being consistent and responsible.
What are the educational requirements and what are the training opportunities?
A youth work specialist may have, for example, education in youth work, social work or culture, or pedagogical education, in addition to which specific knowledge has been acquired through advanced courses or practical work with youth. A worker with a secondary education should undergo training in youth work. However, continuous professional improvement will undoubtedly be important for everyone. The profession of a youth worker can be studied at the level of applied higher education at the Tallinn Pedagogical Seminar and at the Narva College of the University of Tartu. You can specialize in youth work in a master's program within various study programs (social work at Tallinn University, cultural organization at the University of Tartu, theology at the Tartu Academy of Theology).
Advanced training courses are organized at the Academy of Culture of the University of Tartu, at the Tallinn Pedagogical Seminar, at Tallinn University. The most important organizers of advanced training courses and their funding bodies are the Estonian Bureau of European Youth and the Estonian Youth Work Centre.
What are your career opportunities and future plans?
Youth work specialists work in county, township or city administrations, in hobby or general education schools, in youth centers, youth information and counseling centers, in youth societies, youth camps, in churches, in libraries, in cultural institutions and sports.
Related professions: psychologist-consultant, youth police officer, criminal case supervisor, informant specialist, communications manager, freelance trainer.
Income and benefits
The salary of a youth worker varies greatly by region. The salaries of those youth work specialists who work as officials are calculated on an equal basis with other officials, and they are also subject to additional payments and benefits. The salaries of youth work specialists working in the third or private sector usually consist of a basic salary and an additional salary paid in connection with project management and other activities. The employee himself can often influence the latter by finding, for example, an authority that will finance the project.
Based on the nature of the work, compensation is offered for telephone use and travel expenses. Often, free use of services offered at the workplace, such as use of a gym, is provided. Such institutions, whose main task is to organize work with young people, offer regular refresher courses to their own or other youth work specialists included in the target group. The courses are free for employees, but sometimes they are mandatory.

Goal: teach to recognize emotions, teach children to tune in to each other, create an atmosphere of friendly and open communication
Material: cards with the name of emotions
Introductory part.
Exercise “Smile”
The host offers to greet each other with a smile. Children in a circle “pass” a smile to each other.
Blitz poll: What's your mood? Everyone in a circle answers the question.
Main part
Today we will talk about how important it is to be able to get along with other people. To do this, we need to learn to share with our neighbors what we ourselves have - be it toys, or the opportunity to speak out, or everyone's attention. We get along better with other people when we are friendly.
Exercise “Convey the emotion”
The group stands or sits in a circle, one starts and makes a certain facial expression with which he looks at his neighbor on the left. Now he repeats the facial expression and turns in turn to his neighbor on the left, etc. The game continues until this “epidemic” covers all players.
Exercise “Guess the Emotion”
Everyone pulls out a piece of paper with a certain emotion. He must depict this emotion on his face, the others guess what the person is feeling.
Game "Balance"
Sit on the floor, forming a double circle so that you sit in pairs opposite each other. As a couple, hold hands and lean back. At the same time, try to maintain balance. How far can you lean back?
Now stand up. Place the soles of your feet close together so that they are directly in front of your partner's splayed feet. Hold your hands and slowly lean back. How far can you lean while maintaining your balance? Swap partners.
What should you do to maintain a good balance with your partner? Pay attention to children who constantly pull their partner over themselves, and help them understand how this affects their relationships with other children.
The theme of the event: “Health Day”.
Lesson duration: 45 minutes
Audience: children 9 - 12 years old.
Optimal number of class participants: 20 - 25 people.
Forms of conduct: conversation, game, exercise.
Goal: to develop healthy lifestyle skills in children.

Expected result: the lesson will help children develop a value-based attitude towards their own health.
Health is a human value. Game "Crossword" (Goal: to reveal the topic of the lesson). Game “Chamomile” (Goal: using folk proverbs to formulate the concept of “health”). Game “Raft” (Goal: to demonstrate the value of health for every person).

Purpose: to reveal the topic of the lesson.
Description of the exercise: The word “health” is hidden in the crossword puzzle. The specialist reads riddles to the children (about healthy lifestyle, about the human body), the answers to which contain the letters of the keyword. Gradually, the topic of the lesson is revealed to the children. Materials: tablets with clue words, magnets. Riddles:
On this day, a cheerful crowd

Five brothers - Equal for years, different in height (fingers).
Two mothers have five sons each - One name for all (hands).
Not a clock, but a ticking (heart).
Summing up: Let's take a close look at what word was hidden. That's right, the word is “health”.
Question to the audience: Who can tell me what it is? (Children's opinions).
Let's see what folk wisdom says about health.
Final conclusion:
The set goals were achieved: thanks to this event, the gymnasium staff and children were able to communicate in an informal setting, which contributes to the formation of a favorable emotional climate in the children's team. The children relaxed. This event allowed the students of the gymnasium to further realize the value of friendship and feel like part of a single team. In addition, the employees achieved the main goal: developing a healthy lifestyle in children. In a playful way, children received the knowledge necessary for this. This event had a particular impact on children of the younger age group (8-10 years old). Since they saw before them an example of the active participation of children of the older age group (11-15 years old).
3. Psychological and pedagogical characteristics of the youth group
Analyzing the behavior of children, pupils of the gymnasium came to the conclusion that the largest number of children would like to find friends and have fun. Several people wanted to acquire new knowledge and skills. One of the girls wanted to show her capabilities and organize various things on her own.
Important qualities for children are: honesty, justice, kindness, hard work, curiosity and courage. For a small number of children, important qualities are: discipline, initiative, ambition and enterprise. None of the guys showed any self-demandingness or mercy.
The children turned out to be very athletic. Almost everyone either actively trains and participates in competitions, or exercises in their leisure time. There is no one among the children who is not interested in sports at all.
Almost all boys are not interested in art. Several girls attend art school.
Several children turned out to be sickly with quite serious illnesses.
Without any special difficulties, children manage to cope with difficulties and bring their plans to the end. They can come to the rescue if necessary and refuse pleasure if this worries the parents.
Most children noted that they take the initiative in hobbies and in the family, less often when helping others.
Thus, we can conclude that children are sociable, cheerful, good friends, and respect their elders.
Psychological and pedagogical analysis of the age of children 8-12 years old
The age of 8-12 years is relatively calm when compared with a turbulent childhood, when the child needed an eye and an eye, and the upcoming transition period, when enormous endurance will be required from parents and educators in order to survive the child’s often aggressive self-assertion. However, this age also has its pitfalls, and you shouldn’t let everything take its course.
Physiology of a child aged eight to eleven years. At 8-12 years of age, the child continues to grow, but the dramatic changes that accompany puberty are still quite far away. The body at this age is still a child’s, and, despite its apparent maturity, it is quite fragile. He needs proper rest, a normal amount of sleep (at least nine hours a day) and proper nutrition. In the second and third grades, the school load increases, and many children become immersed in their studies and stop noticing anything around them. It is not recommended to interfere greatly with the work process, but you should not be completely abstract either. It is necessary to insist on daily walks and exercise. The body grows and develops, and without movement it is difficult for it. Lack of ventilation can lead to headaches, blurred vision and decreased immunity. Therefore, a two-hour walk should be mandatory at this age. Psychology of a child aged eight to eleven years. At the age of eight to eleven years, the child begins to gradually move away from his parents, and the teacher begins to lose authority. By the age of 8-9 years, the functional capabilities of the brain in children are not yet fully developed, so they perceive only random objects or those that have attracted attention. Surveillance is also uncontrolled. Younger schoolchildren are not very attentive. They are easily confused - they quickly switch from one subject to another, more often - from learning to any other stimulus. If you force children to focus their attention for a long time and persistently, they will quickly become overtired. In order to maintain commonality with the child and at the same time not completely suppress his will, you need to talk to him more - in an adult way and not in a raised voice. Outdoor games play a big role in shaping thinking. Games that develop speed, dexterity, and strength stimulate important mental processes: sensations and perceptions become more acute, children become more attentive, and strong-willed qualities appear. Outdoor games evoke a storm of emotions in children. They cannot control them yet, this manifests itself in loud exclamations, facial expressions, and sharp gestures. The emotional state of children of this age changes rapidly. It depends on the circumstances. Typically, emotional children grow into emotional adults. Sports or other hobbies are very important for the development of a persistent, strong-willed, inquisitive personality.
Conclusion
Completing psychological and pedagogical practice is an important element of the educational process for preparing a specialist.
At this time, the future organizer of work with youth applies the knowledge, skills and abilities acquired during the training process in practice.
The main tasks at this moment are:
familiarization with the specifics of the institution’s work;
gaining practical work experience;
improving the quality of professional training.
The practice helped me learn to independently solve a certain range of problems that arise during the work of an organizer of work with youth. I realized that the bulk of the knowledge I acquired at the university would be in demand in practice.
Of course, it was not easy, I still lacked experience, but every day I felt more confident in the place of the organizer of work with youth, I always tried to give the guys all the material that was planned for me by my curator, I tried to include it in the structure of each event new and original techniques that enhance the cognitive and playful interest of pupils and contribute to easier convergence with the team and help to increase interest in the events being held.
I really enjoyed working with children and youth. I liked working at this institution. I liked working with children, participating in the life of the school and the city, helping the teacher in the moral and aesthetic education of the younger generation. The quality of work was influenced by the favorable climate in the team; the completed practice left a positive impression.
The practice gave a wealth of experience working with young people, which was confirmed by the theoretical knowledge acquired at the institute.
During my internship, I acquired communication skills, the ability to lead and organize youth, and conduct events.
The internship conditions were good. For any questions that arose, I could contact the head of my practice or the employees of the Gymnasium.
