Sebastien-Roch Nicolas de Chamfort- French public figure, writer, moral philosopher, revolutionary - born in Clermont-Ferrand on April 6, 1741. Very little is known about his biological parents - only that he was illegitimate son village priest; he was raised by his adoptive parents, the Croizets. The young man took the surname “Chamfort” upon entering the Paris Theological College. Having successfully studied there, he, nevertheless, decided not to connect his fate with the service of the Church. In one of his statements, he admitted that his whole nature asked for independence.
After some time, Chamfort gained fame as a writer and writer of plays. The latter were quite popular, but did not remain in the theater repertoire. Earnings from writing, as well as income from private lessons, were the main ones for him. Chamfort became a popular personality in the salons of the French capital; the doors of the best of them were opened to him. In 1781 he was admitted to the French Academy. Another known fact from Chamfort’s biography is that he belonged to one of the largest Masonic lodges.
Despite the fact that the aristocrats treated him loyally, and he himself was in the secretarial service of the Prince of Condé, Chamfort was imbued with democratic views and ardent antipathy towards absolutism. He not only warmly welcomed the Great French Revolution, but also personally took part in the storming of the Bastille. Being a recipient of the royal pension, he approved its abolition. It was he who authored the famous slogan “Peace to huts, war to palaces!”
Throughout 1790-1791. Nicolas de Chamfort acted as secretary of the Jacobin club, composed public speeches for Mirabeau, however, he disapproved of terror and did not believe in its effectiveness and expediency. In 1792 he was appointed to the post of director of the National Library. Already in next year Chamfort was arrested following a denunciation because he refused to write a commissioned government pamphlet aimed at restricting freedom of speech. A few days later he was released on the condition that he would be under house arrest and a supervisor would live in his house. Not wanting to tolerate such a turn of events, Chamfort tried to commit suicide. However, death from mutilation occurred only a few months later, and this happened on April 13, 1794.
Friends sorting through the things of the rebellious writer found unknown manuscripts, which were published a year after his death in the form of the books “Maxims and Thoughts” and “Characters and Anecdotes.” It was thanks to the aphorisms contained in them that Chamfort gained fame, which has not allowed his name to be forgotten to this day.

Creation
Chamfort's poems and dramatic works are practically forgotten today. He remained in history with a book of observations and aphorisms, “Maxims and Thoughts, Characters and Anecdotes,” published after his death by one of his friends (1795). Unlike Montaigne, La Rochefoucauld, La Bruyère, he argued that a person changes under the influence of the social system under which he lives.
He came up with a title for the Abbé Sieyès's pamphlet: " Qu'est ce que le tiers-état?"("What is the Third Estate?", Jan. 1789).
Influence
Chamfort's works influenced the development of German romanticism. In Germany, the first edition of his book was enthusiastically received by Friedrich Schlegel, who said that Chamfort’s work took first place in its genre.
Selected sayings of Chamfort were translated into Russian from late XVIII century, they were often quoted by P. A. Vyazemsky, A. I. Turgenev. Chamfort, was presented in the Pushkin Library full meeting of their writings. As Prince Vyazemsky (the son of Pushkin’s friend) testifies, “he (that is, Pushkin) constantly gave me instructions about treating women, seasoning his moral teachings with cynical quotes from Chamfort.” The list of authors that Eugene Onegin reads includes Chamfort. (Chapter VIII. Stanza XXXV).
Deeply influenced subsequent European and American aphorism from Ambrose Bierce and Nietzsche to Cioran and Nicholas Gomez Davila.
The singer doubts that he will break Pope Julio's record of 3,000 mistresses
The sweet-voiced handsome Enrique, about whom millions of women around the world dream, turns out to be a rather shy guy and is not at all confident in his own irresistibility. By at least, this is exactly what he told British Daily Mail journalist Petronella WHITE in a recent interview on the eve of the singer’s birthday (Enrique was born on May 8, 1975).
Winner of the title of “sexiest pop singer on the planet”, awarded to him based on the results of a survey, Iglesias Jr. began the conversation with the standard admissions that he always wanted to be a singer and was offended when, at the beginning of his career, they spoke of him only as the son of “the brilliant Julio.”
“Sometimes I got up and left the interview,” Enrique confesses. - You know, I’m not so bad myself.
“At some point, Enrique took a break and suddenly said: “The only thing that really worries me is the size of my...”, laughs Petronella White. “While I was picking up my jaw from the floor and feverishly searching for the right remark, he laughed heartily - so carefree that I wanted to grab him in my arms and kiss him. Although during our further conversation I really wanted to feel sorry for him: it’s not easy to live up to the standards of the Iglesias clan. His father did not hide the fact that he slept with more than 3,000 fans, Enrique’s grandfather, Julio, became a father at the age of 90, and when he died at 92, his young wife was again expecting a child.
- Grandfather was happy man, says Iglesias Jr. - Although it’s funny to think that my father’s brothers are 60 years younger than him.
- Hey, it's part of my image! Girls like it. It makes me more mysterious.
-Is it true that at the age of 18 you conspired with your father's agent and secretly recorded a promotional video under a false name, which you sent to a Mexican recording studio?
- I experimented. And I didn’t want my father to find out about it. When I signed a contract with a Mexican company, I was very afraid of my parents' reaction. And when they did find out, I had to fight for my choice. At 19, I packed my backpack and moved to Toronto. I went through a difficult path until my first English-language disc was released in 1999. Dad has not been to any of my performances, but I love and respect him more than anyone on earth.
- Along with fame, you also received the attention of women - you met many famous people. For example, actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, with singer Jerry Halliwell...
- I'm not a sex symbol, if that's what you mean. If you saw me at home, the last thing that would come to your mind is hey, this guy is so sexy! Moreover, until my songs reached the top of the charts, it was difficult for me to “pick up” a girl. The amazing thing is this popularity. People are starting to see you in a new light, but I'm still the same guy!
- Are you still dating Anna Kournikova - otherwise lately Does the media always deceive you?
- I'm still with Anna. She is amazing and I liked her from the first time I met her. This is probably the calmest girl I've ever met. And very democratic: you can invite her, say, to McDonald's without fear. Or suggest spending a weekend camping in the mountains - she won’t complain or be capricious. But... I love all women. And I’m not going to “settle down” - at least until I’m about 50. I’m not going to start a family yet. It's too much responsibility.
- Do you intend to sleep with 3,000 women?
- I'm not going to compete with my father on this issue.
- Do you like your dad?
- He raised me well. I was not a spoiled and spoiled boy. I still hate young people who show off their haute couture clothes and brand new iPhones. Parents who indulge their offspring in such things corrupt them. Boys should not play video games, but football. My father instilled in me the correct perception of the world. For example, I have never taken hard drugs. I tried “grass” once - for inspiration. As a result, I felt depressed, and no music was written at all. I don’t even take sleeping pills, which are so popular in show business: I’m afraid of dependence on any drugs, and specifically after these pills I can’t sleep at all. I stare into the darkness, and in the morning I get up broken.
- What are you planning for your birthday?
- I have a performance in the evening. I am currently on a concert tour, which will last until the end of May.

At a concert in Barvikha near Moscow, the sultry Spaniard Enrique Iglesias flirted exclusively with his own gender, and then got drunk and called his ex-wife– tennis player Anna Kournikova – wife.
For the second year now, one of the most famous Spaniards in the world has been promoting his new album Sex and Love, traveling around cities and villages. On the last weekend of November, he was even brought to the “village of the rich” near Moscow, Barvikha Luxury Village. It was possible to listen to the heartthrob, whose albums became platinum 116 times and gold 227 times, only by shelling out from 20 to... 150 thousand rubles! But this is for ordinary oligarchs, but here are the celebrities, among whom we noticed singer Zara, Miss World Ksenia Sukhinova, actress Elena Lyadova (the star of “Leviathan” surprised everyone by dressing completely inappropriate for the event - in jeans and a sports T-shirt, while other ladies chose elegant evening dresses), they let it slip that they were allowed in here for free - by invitation.
“Actually, I don’t really like Enrique’s later work, I liked his early work more - I’m really surprised that at the age of 40 he was drawn to youth motives,” said ProZvezd, who recorded with Iglesias 15 years ago, with a hint of disappointment . She admitted that since then they had only seen each other a couple of times and had not become close friends.
And Alsou said this even before the performance - it is not known what she would have said after seeing how openly Enrique was slacking at his only and not so long concert. He sang each song barely halfway through, and then quit and left the rest to the plywood and his backing vocalists. He didn’t even pretend to be: he just threw the microphone and either walked around the stage or even sat down comfortably to rest. It seems that he was simply tired of singing the same thing, but he still had the desire to jump and dance.
Having started to dance, the Spaniard invited everyone to join him and come closer to the stage. As a result, those who paid 20-30 thousand for a ticket were completely blocked by those who paid all 150 for a ticket and sat in the front row. Well, the last became the first, and the rich cry too.
– I want to invite someone on stage! – Enrique unexpectedly gave hope to the audience, the vast majority of whom were, of course, women of all ages.
- Me! Me! Please choose me! - Everyone who was near the stage immediately shouted, and one girl even began to cry - she wanted so much to see her idol.
- No, I'm only interested in boys! I want boys! – Iglesias was surprised at such a violent reaction and looked for volunteers for a long time. There were almost no boys in the hall!
In the end, two were found. Happy singer He sat them down almost on his lap, gave them vodka to drink, and sang one of his hits together, and he carefully filmed the entire performance on one of the guys’ iPhone. Well, at the end he hugged them and kissed them. A disappointed groan echoed through the hall. The girls didn't get that kind of attention from him!
“It was my Russian girlfriend who taught me to drink vodka, oh, that is,” he finished off the fans even more.
As ProZvezd learned from fans who were watching the singer in Barvikha, on the eve of the concert, Iglesias and Kournikova walked through the most expensive boutiques of Barvikha, sweetly holding hands. So, perhaps, Iglesias sang with the boys so that Anna would not be jealous, and not at all because he was not welcome in our country.
