Additional cartridges type dpg 3 delivery rates. Elements of educational material base
Purpose
In order to expand the capabilities of gas masks to protect against SDYV, additional cartridges have been introduced for them (DPG-1 and DPG-3). Gas masks with a filter-absorbing box GP-7k and equipped with DPG-Z protect against ammonia, chlorine, dimethylamine, nitrobenzene, hydrogen sulfide, carbon disulfide, hydrocyanic acid, tetraethyl lead, phenol, phosgene, furfural, hydrogen chloride, cyanogen chloride and ethyl mercaptan. DPG-1 also protects against nitrogen dioxide, methyl chloride, carbon monoxide and ethylene oxide.
Application
For intended use, additional cartridges must be screwed to a regular gas mask filter box.
Characteristics
The set of additional cartridges DPG-1 and DPG-Z includes a connecting tube and an insert. The cartridge has a cylindrical shape and is similar in appearance to the GP-5, GP-7 filter-absorbing box. The cartridge is connected to the front part of the gas mask using a connecting tube, for which a neck is screwed onto one of the ends. An internal thread is cut into the bottom of the cartridge for connection to the filter-absorbing cow GP-5 or GP-7. Inside the DPG-1 cartridge there are two layers of charge - a special absorber and hopcalite. In DPG-Z there is only an absorber layer. To protect the mixture from moisture during storage, the necks must be constantly closed: the outer ¾ with a screwed-on cap with a gasket, the inner with a screwed-in plug. Markings are applied to the surface of each cartridge: above the zig ¾ the name, between the zig and the seam ¾ the designation of the manufacturer, production date and batch number.
The duration of action according to SDYAV for the civilian gas mask GP-7 without additional cartridges and with additional cartridges DPG-1 and DPG-Z is given in the table:

The protective action time is given in the table for an air flow rate of 30 l/min, relative air humidity of 75% and ambient temperature from -30 to +40 °C; for ethylene oxide and methyl chloride from -10 to +40 °C.
For children's gas masks, the protective action time according to SDYAV is no less than twice as long as indicated in the table.
Limited operating time, some cumbersomeness, are not used when the oxygen content in the air is low, and make breathing difficult, which is especially noticeable during heavy physical work.
Hopcalite cartridge
Purpose
Hopcalite cartridges are designed to protect the respiratory system from carbon monoxide. The principle of operation of a disposable cartridge is based on the catalytic oxidation of carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide.
Application
Since hopcalite cartridges do not enrich the air with oxygen, they can only be used with an oxygen content of at least 17% by volume. Used in conjunction with a gas mask filter box (screwed on from the bottom). Operating time up to 6 hours.
Specifications
Relatively short operating time. Slight difficulty breathing. Not suitable for low oxygen or high carbon monoxide conditions. They do not work well at low temperatures. Disposable.

During operation, additional cartridge DPG-3 is prohibited
Civilian gas masks GP-7 and GP-5 protect against hazardous substances such as chlorine, hydrogen sulfide, hydrocyanic acid, tetraethyl lead, ethyl mercaptan, furfural, phosgene, cyanogen chloride, as well as from organic vapors (gasoline, kerosene, acetone, benzene, xylene, toluene, alcohols, ethers, aniline, nitro compounds of benzene and its homologues). To increase the protective action time of gas masks, as well as to create protection against ammonia and demethylamine, the industry produces an additional DPG-3 cartridge. The protective properties of gas masks GP-7 and GP-5 without an additional cartridge DPG-3 and complete with it according to the most common AOXVs are given in Table.

The kit includes: a cylindrical cartridge DPG-3, a connecting tube and an insert. Using a connecting tube, the cartridge is attached to the front part of the gas mask. For this purpose, it has an external screwed-on neck, and an internal one at the bottom, which allows you to attach filter-absorbing boxes GP-7 or GP-5. A single-layer special absorber is installed inside the cartridge.
To protect the absorber from being moistened by water vapor, the necks must be constantly closed during storage: the outer one - with a screw-on cap with a rubber gasket, the inner one - with a plug.
Weight of the DPG-3 cartridge is 350 g. Resistance to air flow is no more than 10 mm of water. Art. at a flow rate of 30 l/min. Markings are applied to the cylindrical surface of the cartridge: above the zig - the symbol of the manufacturer, the production date (quarter, the last two digits indicate the year) and the batch number. In the manufacturer's packaging, the DPG-3 cartridge has a guaranteed shelf life of 10 years. The cartridges are contained in boxes for personal protective equipment with connecting tubes of 40 pieces each, without them - 60 pieces each.
DPG-1, in addition to the protective capabilities of DPG-3, provides protection against nitrogen dioxide, methyl chloride, carbon monoxide and ethylene oxide.
Hopcalite cartridge
The hopcalite cartridge is also an additional cartridge for gas masks for protection against carbon monoxide. The design is similar to DPG-3.
It is equipped with a desiccant and hopcalite itself. The desiccant is silica gel impregnated with calcium chloride.
Designed to absorb water vapor from the air in order to protect hopcalite from moisture, which loses its properties when moistened.
Hopcalite - a mixture of manganese dioxide with copper oxide, acts as a catalyst in the oxidation of carbon monoxide due to atmospheric oxygen to non-toxic carbon dioxide.
The initial weight of the hopcalite cartridge is indicated. If the weight increases due to moisture absorption by 20 g or more compared to the original, the cartridge cannot be used. The protective action time of the cartridge at a relative air humidity of 80% is about two hours. At temperatures close to zero, its protective effect decreases, and at -15°C and below it almost stops. Cartridge weight - 750-800 g.
Universal protective cartridge (ROM)
ROM is the latest means of protecting the respiratory system from chemically hazardous substances contained in the air in the form of gases, vapors and aerosols.
The cartridge is used in conjunction with the front part of a filter gas mask at both positive and negative ambient temperatures. The PZU-K kit includes: PZU cartridge, PAF anti-aerosol filter, connecting tube and bag. The ROM cartridge has the shape of a cylinder, is made of tin, equipped with a desiccant, hopcalite and a catalyst. It has two screwed necks: an outer one for connecting a connecting tube and an inner one for connecting a filter-absorbing box or PAF filter. To protect the charge from being moistened by water vapor, the upper neck is hermetically sealed with a screw cap with a rubber gasket, and the lower neck is sealed with a screw cap.
Its cylindrical surface is marked: between the zigs - symbol - FG-120, abbreviated name of the manufacturer, date of manufacture (month and last two digits of the year), batch number, series, cartridge number. In addition to these data, the mass of the cartridge with plugs is also indicated to the nearest gram. The protective action time of the ROM cartridge for individual substances at temperatures from -30°C to +40°C is given in table.

Protective action time, min |
Nitrogen oxides | ||
Unsymmetrical dimethylhydrazine

Cyanogen chloride | ||
Carbon monoxide: - at positive temperatures - at negative temperatures
Note: When using a PZU cartridge with a filter-absorbing box GP-5, GP-7k and MKF, the time of protective action for a number of substances (chlorine, phosgene, cyanogen chloride, etc.) increases significantly. |
An interruption in the operation of the ROM cartridge is allowed, subject to its mandatory sealing. In this case, the total time should not exceed that indicated in the table, and the concentration of chemically hazardous substances should not exceed 100 values of the maximum permissible concentrations. The maximum service life is 30 days. Repeated use of a cartridge against highly toxic substances (hydrocyanic acid, cyanogen chloride, phosgene) is not recommended. During breaks in work, the cartridge must be disconnected from the front part and tightly closed with a cap and plug, while checking the presence of rubber gaskets in the cap and in the inner screw neck.
The ROM cartridge has a constant air flow resistance of 14 mm water. Art., weight - no more than 810 g.
Air purification from carbon monoxide in the cartridge is carried out due to a catalytic reaction with the release of heat, therefore the presence of dangerous concentrations of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere can be determined by heating the cartridge. A slight burn on the hand indicates a concentration of 12 mg/l. The time spent in this environment should not exceed 15 minutes. If the cartridge swells, the paint begins to burn, and the hot air burns the mucous membranes of the respiratory system - this means that there is much more than 12 mg/l of carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. In this case, you must immediately leave the gas-contaminated area and carry out further work only in self-contained breathing apparatus.
The PAF anti-aerosol filter is cylindrical in shape and consists of a housing with a screw-on neck for connection to the ROM cartridge and a bottom cover with louvers through which air passes. Equipped with filtering fibrous material. The body and cover are made of polyethylene. The PAF filter has a resistance to a constant air flow of 2 mm water. Art. and reduces the concentration of aerosols from 100 to 1000 times. Weight no more than 100 g.
The ROM cartridge complete with the front part of any gas mask can be used with a filter-absorbing box GP-5, GP-7k, MKF, with or without a PAF filter. The PAF filter is used mainly for protection against dust, smoke, i.e. coarse aerosols.
