Destiny 2 will be in Russian. Reaction of the Russian-speaking Destiny community to the localized trailer
The first one came out the other day Destiny trailer 2 and immediately in sixteen languages, including Russian. Over the almost three years of the existence of the first part, the community has repeatedly tried to translate proper names, names of armor, weapons, perks and other terms. It didn’t turn out very well, to put it mildly, but such translations from the community always fueled interest in the question - will Bungie add the Russian language to the second part?
And finally it happened! Destiny 2 will officially be released on September 8 entirely in Russian - with text localization and full voice acting. The first part managed to gather an incredibly large and active Russian-speaking community of players who have been launching Destiny for the third year in a row in search of new content and experiences. They are the ones who make up the main base of “hardcore” players, whose opinion Bungie, the game developers, value the most (believe me, they read a lot of feedback).
In this material, I collected people’s reviews about the new Russian-language trailer and the availability of localization in general. After all, players who have spent thousands of hours on one game with English voice acting are usually the most critical of such changes.
The appearance of localization in Destiny 2 is a very significant step. Activision and Bungie didn't just admit Russian market, but clearly believe in his performance. And a sign about translation always gives a significant increase in sales. So there is no need to worry about the future of the game in Russia. But I can’t say the same about the Destiny community. Holy wars on the topic of translation have been going on since the release of the first part, and they gave jokes about “Hawk Moon” or “Hawthorn”. There are a lot of cool names in Destiny, which, when adapted to the “great and mighty”, will simply lose their meaning. I personally am not ready to give up the wonderful voices of Bill Nye, Gina Torres and of course Nathan Fillion. But work is already underway and, as I was assured, everything will be fine. top level. KYKYPY3A_B_KOCMOCE
Full localization of Destiny 2 into Russian is a huge gift to the entire Russian community. I think many Destiny players, like me, have friends for whom having at least subtitles in the game is a critical factor. Over the course of two years of work in the Russian community, the most frequently asked questions arise due to a lack of understanding of the language. People miss the plot, they miss the lore and mythology of the game, they miss a lot of interesting nuances. Vanilla Destiny was something of an experiment for the company. An unusual mixture of genres, an unusual co-op, a new franchise. The experiment was a success and now, with the expansion of the audience and the release of the franchise on PC, localization into Russian is the right step to conquer our market. After all, PC gaming in our country still occupies a huge share, unlike in the West. The company is taking the right course and seeing the expansion of the Russian audience and the influx of newcomers will be a great joy for me. Vladimr R_Glitch Tomin
Looking at the trailer, you don't have to worry about the voice acting. The only concern is how they will handle the translation of the names of weapons and subclasses. After 2.5 years, the community has developed its own language of communication, based on English names. No matter how much we are called “Guardians” now, we are forever Guardians. Sancho481, Hunter since birth
The voice acting is generally pleasant, although there are some shortcomings with the timing of the animation in the trailer; I’m only worried about the literal translations of factions, races and equipment. P.S. “Guardians” is nonsense - only Guardians! Roskoshniy1504, Titan
So [in English] we are already used to it. Most people understand everything in Basurmansk, and the voices of the original actors have somehow become familiar, but one of my friends was bursting with happiness when he found out that there would be localization. Still, there are a decent number of Guardians who do not know English and experience serious problems because of this. SL1CK_H3NRY, Titanium simple
Quite in favor of adding localization – more people will be able to play. However, after the full trailer I was very dissatisfied with the voice acting, I will look for versions of the game in the original. C0ttagCheese_RU, Warlock from alpha
For me, the addition of the Russian language means absolutely nothing; I played in English and will continue to do so. The localization is not very good, but apparently there will be no problems with the names, at least the word “loot” and not “prey” indicates this. Toxic Json
The translation and voice acting are very good. The trailer itself is fire. Well done Bungie. I myself will play in English (if this is possible, because Activision is Activision). Kaid-6 (Nathan-fucking-Philo:) falls just a little short. I'm glad that the dubbing actors were the same ones who dub actors in TV series and films. Sorry - a little chaotic, but I just stopped throwing money at the monitor :) Anton, Holyslon Tetaaan!
It is undoubtedly good that Bungie decided to localize Destiny 2 into Russian. But do not forget about its subtleties and features, as well as its sound. Knowing how often localizers fail at this, I'm a little worried about Destiny 2 in terms of place names, weapons, and of course puns (jokes also fall into this category). Vadim_342, Hunter to the core
Basically, all hardcore players are not against localization, although they still prefer the original voice acting. And it’s not without reason that they’re worried about the translation of weapons and armor - according to DestinyDB, the first part of the game contains about 3000 pieces of armor, 1175 weapons, 160+ ships, more than 230 different consumables, almost 250 emblems, 115 shaders, etc. In order to translate such a quantity qualitatively unique names, you need not just talent and vast experience, but also incredible love to your business and understanding the desires of the game community. I hope Bungie can find such a person, because in the open vacancies section on the developer’s website there is still an open position for a translator into Russian.
Personally, as a casual Destiny player, I’m looking forward to the release of the Russian version, and after the trailer, I believe in the quality of the localization. The only thing I'm afraid of is the mismatch of names popular weapons among the people who will play on different languages. After all, the hunt for exotic weapons and items will be almost the main goal in Destiny 2. Players will travel through the mysterious unexplored worlds of our solar system for the sake of acquiring new weapons and powerful combat abilities.
P.S. If you're over recent years wanted to start playing Destiny, but didn’t know how to approach this game, it’s time to think about a sequel and become part of the cozy TG community. You can join there using the following links.
It's finished. The rumors and secret expectations of many have been confirmed: Destiny 2 will not only be released on PC, but will also be completely translated into Russian - voice, text, and subtitles. According to Gmbox, two factors prevented the first part from becoming a super hit in Russia: an exclusively console release and a complete lack of localization. Either the description of guns, armor and “quests” (kill ‘em all) was too complicated, or there was simply a wave of popular rebellion against the Basurman language, but all the forums were filled with posts “I can’t buy Russian.”
Activision decided not to repeat its mistakes and adapt the game for more markets and their specific platforms. Here, just take a look at the Russian-language trailer:
And now for the teaser:
We know, we know, you have a reasonable question: “Pre-rendered graphics are, of course, cool. But where is the gameplay!?” Now we will answer you both this and all other pressing questions.
Where is the gameplay!?
It will be, and quite soon, and in impressive quantities. Bungie and community manager DeeJ (who played the first Destiny probably knows this guy), promise not just a trailer, but a full-fledged and fairly long livestream. Date: May 18.
When will the game itself be released?
Everything here is extremely simple. Both Gmbox and Russian and foreign publications were sure that this would happen in September. Why? Because both the first Destiny and the largest additions to it were released in the first month of autumn. The full-fledged sequel was no exception. Release date: September 8.
What platforms will Destiny 2 be released on?
On PS4, Xbox and - fanfare!!! - PC. Yes, exactly on PC. Apparently, the luminaries of the marketing and sales departments of Activision held a joint brainstorm and analyzed the statistics of the main competing product - The Division from Ubisoft - and we realized: it’s in vain that we are missing out on personal computers, this is additional profit! Of course, PvP has always been an important part of Destiny, and on PC you will immediately be surrounded by a crowd of cheaters, but that's a completely different story...
By the way, as in the first part, the sequel will have temporary exclusive content for PS4. Slaves are pushing ahead of the boyars - where has this been seen!?
I don’t hate consoles, I know the language, I spent a shitload of time playing the first Destiny. Will progress be carried over?
This is all a little sad. But, according to at least, at least they explained it from a lore point of view. The Cabal strategist and leader of the Red Legion, Ghaul, turned out to be slightly more brilliant than Val'Aruhn. Instead of firing an automatic grenade launcher at the two exits from the narrow corridor, he took and destroyed the central arsenal of the Guardians. So all your Gjallarhorns were there, but they floated away.
To be specific: you can transfer any hero who has completed the Black Garden quest, but he will not have guns or armor. Basically, Bungie is just saving you time in the character editor. Well, and those 3 hours that go into pumping up regular - and not “light” - levels.
Is there any way to play until September?
Yes, and you can guess how. Beta for pre-order, which is already available. Beta testing should take place in the summer, when exactly - Bungie will subsequently clarify. The beta will be available to absolutely everyone who places an order. But if you are burning with the desire to stand out among the gray mass, buy yourself this exclusive edition with a bag and a solar USB charger for your laptop:
Will there be an adequate story?
This is a burning question for all fans of the first part. Traveler, Ghosts, Guardians, Tower, Speaker (of the upper house of parliament!?) - there was so much pompous crap in Destiny that even experts English language In the end, they got tired of following the plot and began to simply exterminate the aliens. All the real lore was on the cards, on the Bungie website, but not in the game itself!
Judging by the trailers and statements from the company itself, Activision and Bungie will correct this mistake, making the story more relatable and understandable. Apparently, one of the key places in the narrative will be occupied by the robot comedian Cayde 6, and the pompous nonsense of the Titans commander, Zavala (Zavala, Zavala, fuck up...), will fade into the background. And don't blame us for ignorance: we love science fiction, if it is implemented correctly, as in Mass Effect. And bedtime stories (we're looking at you, first Destiny) are useless.
Will the gameplay change?
Must. Moreover, in better side. The first part was (and remains) not just a patchwork quilt, but a collection of small sandboxes separated by endless loading screens. All social hubs are separate locations. That is, you take quests and... wait on the space loading screen before a purely PvE instance. Downloads, downloads - continuous downloads. And not a single merchant or NPC in the field. This completely killed the immersion in the game world.
But this shouldn't happen anymore. Insiders say: this time Bungie built everything on the concept of play-in destinations (in-game destinations). Moreover, supposedly it’s not just anyone there who is helping with this, but new colleagues in the shop: Blizzard. It was from WoW specialists that the Destiny 2 developers learned to create truly open worlds.
That is, now it will be possible to sell off loot, pick up fresh quests, go beyond the walls of the settlement and continue the adventure without any loading screens. We would like to emphasize: these are not official data, but “leaks” on the NeoGAF forum. Activision and Bungie have not yet confirmed or denied them. We are waiting for a big livestream from the developers on May 18th.
What about multiplayer activities?
In the first part, all high-level content was essentially closed to random players. It was possible to go on the most difficult missions and raids only with a pre-created “pack” of comrades. Bungie did this so that gamers would not be disappointed by constant failures with random companions. Well reverse side The bad news was that many Destiny fans never saw nearly half of the game.
Without going into details, Bungie promised to fix all this in the second part. In our opinion, the simplest thing is to introduce matchmaking and raid difficulty levels. How did the developer actually approach the problem? Wait and see.
Will there be a content shortage?
Bungie plans to apply the MMO model to Destiny 2. That is, new quests, weapons, loot - and maybe even locations - will appear regularly, and not just along with the largest named DLC, as was the case in the first part. This approach should please all Destiny veterans.
To summarize: PC version, Russian text and voice acting, adequate story with humor (instead of quasi-mystical attempts), relatively seamless world, regular updates, epic raids for everyone. It seems that this time Activision has decided to take gamers seriously. Including for the Russian ones.
Will go on sale on September 6, and according to good tradition BUNGIE presented a console beta version before release. Players can evaluate the first story mission, complete the strike and try their hand at two multiplayer modes on two maps.
Character creation is limited in the beta. After choosing a class, we immediately get into the game - without the ability to change race.
The beginning of the game vividly demonstrates the attack of the Red Legion of the Cabal race on the Tower. Most of the scenes are staged on the game engine and run in real time, displaying amazingly beautiful landscapes, powerful effects and detailed characters. Some scenes are created in the form of CG videos. Breaking through the rubble of the earthlings' fortifications, we get acquainted with the updated game mechanics, while at the same time looking at painfully familiar places, albeit in a destroyed form.
The basics have not changed radically since the first part - we can also switch between three types of weapons, hit opponents close, throw grenades and make double jumps with the ability to glide in the air. However, there were some innovations. A third ability was added to each class, and all super abilities became completely different.
The warlock now has Sunsinger instead of a subclass Downblade, whose main ability is to throw waves of fire from a burning sword. Titanium instead of Defender - Sentinel, he has already been nicknamed “Captain America”, because during the “super” the titan is armed with a round shield and can precisely throw it and hit enemies close by, as well as cover himself from shots with it. The hunter's Bladedancer is replaced by Arcstrider- under this ultimate, he masters an electric staff and can jump on enemies from above, creating shock waves.
The old supers for the Voidwalker, Gunslinger and Striker subclasses for the Warlock, Hunter and Titan, respectively, have also changed. Voidwalker - Nova Bomb now chases the enemy, avoiding objects on the map. Gunslinger under his ultimate can fire more shots, but the damage from them will be less than in the first part. Striker jumps and hits the ground with his fist several times in a row, with a radius shock wave his has decreased. New types of grenades have also been added.
After the static first part, Destiny 2 Beta I am very pleased with the dynamics of the events taking place on the screen. Characters already familiar from the original, leaders of factions, defend the Tower side by side with the player and directly participate in skirmishes and events that occur directly during gameplay. This not only has a positive effect on game diversity, but also greatly enlivens the story.
Scenarios game situations The scenery changes regularly, and this is good news. In the first mission we will visit both the ruins inside the Tower itself, and in the familiar square, from where we can see the wanderer, and in a shopping alley, and will culminate in the assault on one of the Red Legion shuttles, which is circling over the Last City during the pouring rain.
Only after this do we get into orbit, where we have a choice between a strike and PvP-activities.
The events of the presented strike take place on the planet Nessus - there we must investigate the reason for the appearance of the Red Legion. Artists BUNGIE Once again they demonstrate their talent in creating incredibly spectacular alien landscapes. Red plants that climb picturesquely through the mountains, the majestic buildings of the race Vex, a huge waterfall in which instead of water there is robot oil - it all looks simply amazing. As we fight our way to the very end of the mission, we will even go through the massive Cabal drilling rig, which cuts through the ground, rotating its blades directly above our heads. This turns the game into a platformer where you need to jump on ledges and hide behind rock- really impressive.
The boss battle was a pleasant surprise not only because it was a reference to the original trilogy Star Wars , but also an unusual decision in terms of changing the structure of the arena, not to mention the ability of the boss to throw players into the air and shoot from a huge cannon.
The developers' desire to please fans of dynamic shooters and distance themselves as much as possible from the static design of the original project is clear.
PvP in beta version presents to your attention two modes - “ Quick game " And " Competitive game" In the first option, a modified mode is available Control. Firstly, as was already known, the scale was reduced - in the sequel, two teams of four people participate in battles, which somewhat reduces the variety of entertainment designed for two squads. At the same time, the maps presented became more compact, making each match, even with a reduced number of participants, tense and dynamic.
Secondly, the rules have also changed. At the beginning of the match, points close to team respawns are already captured, and the number of players in the flag zone does not affect the speed of its capture. Cartridges for heavy weapons from now on, only one player can take, and not the whole team, but for special weapons They are not on the map at all - they drop from players. According to first impressions, all these changes have greatly changed the perception PvP. Now it feels more competitive - there are more tactics in matches and less stupid meat with a hail of special effects from spam too strong abilities. Moreover, the dynamics did not suffer noticeably from this - at least on the presented map.
The second mode is very similar to Trials of Osiris from the first part. Players are given six rounds, and the round ends as soon as the players completely kill each other's team, or mine one of the points. The map presented here seemed even too spacious - sometimes you had to run for a long time to meet the enemy. There is much more maneuver for tactics in this mode. Despite the fact that partners can resurrect each other, here they value the hero’s life much more.
Playing these PvP And PvE modes, you can knock out two sets of clothes and about 5-6 weapons. In the beta version, the sets do not differ in characteristics. We managed to see one new look weapons - grenade launcher. It kills the enemy with two on-target grenades and has a four-shot clip.
Weapon slots are now divided into weapons with kinetic, elemental and power weapon in the third slot, which includes not only the usual rocket launchers, but also shotguns.
Localization as a whole leaves mixed impressions. Some names hurt the eye - translators use strange descriptions and unexpectedly name certain objects. Some things are translated adequately, but sometimes there is complete nonsense in the names of weapons, clothing sets and characters. The voice acting generally inspires respect (there are pleasant-to-hear “voyager of the void”, “blade of dawn” and so on), but in a couple of days since the start of the beta version of the phrase “ defend our gorge" And " co-op raid” became a real meme. Not to mention " A vicious mask to make calls and calls" And " Herald” as Speaker. In addition, in some places the Russian font is difficult to read due to the jumping size and inconsistency in the distance between letters, but we hope this will be fixed for release.
Despite the strange localization, the beta version leaves an extremely positive impression. Judging by the presented episodes, the developers took into account the criticism of the original and created really interesting story levels. The innovations pleasantly refreshed the basic mechanics, and familiar things were well updated. We just have to wait full version, to make sure that the game does not slow down, and the story campaign will be truly exciting for all fans of atmospheric and dynamic shooters, and the amount of content will not disappoint fans MMORPG.
