Events of October 24
This document brought an end thirty years war(1618–1648) between Catholic and Protestant states. Spain, Austria and Poland fought on the Catholic side, Protestant faith defended by Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Sweden, Great Britain and Russia. The Diplomatic Congress laid the foundation for the state sovereignty of European countries.
Each party participating in the congress had its own advantages from signing this peace. It is noteworthy that at this time the Principality of Muscovy was mentioned for the first time. From that day on, the fate of Germany took a new direction: fragmentation reigned in the camp. But Sweden and France received new lands.
Four years earlier in Russian newspapers new one is mentioned for the first time team game, located on the parade ground of the Vasileostrovsky military garrison. The Sport team lost to the home team. The composition of the Vasileostrovsk team was almost entirely foreign, mostly English.
Notes about the match appeared in the St. Petersburg press, although no data was reported. In the same year, competitions were held in St. Petersburg, where the Nevka team became the champion. The Imperial Championship took place in Russia only in 1912.
Excessive demand the industry's new product led to the fact that impatient customers were putting on the new product right on the streets of the city. The synthetic material was created in 1938, as reported by DuPont at the World Exhibition. These clothes of the future appealed to the women of the world and created a real beauty revolution.
The new product was demonstrated at the exhibition by a 12-meter mannequin, which was wearing stockings. Trial copies were distributed to women free of charge as advertising. Just six months later, New York could state that 5 million pairs were sold during this time.
It was noted that October 24 is very cold. Fogs were observed more and more often in the mornings, and there was a light, drizzling rain. On October 24, peasants tried to analyze folk signs and determine what the weather would be like in the coming days and even months.
In the church on October 24, the memory of St. Philip, one of the 70 apostles, who came from Caesarea in Palestine, is honored. It was he who was elected to the ranks of deacons after Saint Stephen based on the results of a discussion of this issue with his disciples.
Stefan died martyrdom during the persecution organized against Christians. Philip himself decided to leave Jerusalem, where he was in danger, going to one of the Samarian cities, where he began to give sermons.
At the same time, Stephen not only spoke to people about Jesus, but also performed various miracles, healing the weak and sick. Seeing this, even many pagans believed in the existence of Jesus Christ. According to historical data, Philip had 4 daughters who were also devoted Christians and possessed the gift of prophecy.
Also, one of the daughters named Hermione knew how to heal people. Tradition says that Philip himself died in the city of Trallia, where he served as a bishop until his last moment.
It was noted that it was on Philip on October 24 that the rigmarole begins - that’s what they called the dirt and the whore on the roads. This is where the expression “No time to waste time” arose - that’s what they said when leaving home. However, despite the fact that there was a slut on the roads, it was necessary to deal various matters, and therefore, during this period, peasants took grain to the mill to grind flour or cereals from it.
By the way, the people also called gold or silver thread used in embroidery. Its production is quite long and complex. So, the gimp is first pulled out of the wire, and then untwisted and twisted. That is why any long and troublesome business was called a gimmick.
