Combat armor in Fallout 4. Marine Corps armor
In Fallout 4, the clothing situation is quite confusing. Leaving aside the , and just talking about casual wear, there are two options - full suits or component armor, consisting of separate elements for the limbs, torso and head. Some suits can be worn UNDER parts - for example, the suit from Vault 111.
Full suits usually have simply “no” protection - they are often worn by game characters whom you kill in the story. More reliable protection against various types of damage (physical, energy and radiation) is provided by composite armor, but finding them is no less difficult than understanding what exactly they offer and in what combinations.
Countless raiders, shooters, super mutants, merchants and other people can find various options for armored, soundproof, lead, reinforced, enameled and other types of armor, looking at which, some players lose the desire to understand all these intricacies. Let's help with this.
We are looking for legendary enemies
From merchants you can buy armor, or its elements, marked “Legendary” - indicated by an asterisk to the right of the name, which has one or another unusual property, such as increasing the rate of recovery of action points, reducing damage by half when falling from a height, or reducing damage by 15% from robots (in total there are more than 20 such properties for armor). This armor can also be obtained from randomly encountered legendary enemies in the game. Especially in insects.
However, you can try to reduce this randomness to a minimum and look for a meeting with such enemies purposefully. To do this, there are many locations available on the map, for example, National Guard Training Site, Jamaica Plain, Supermarket and many others that do not say “CLEARED”. That is, you have not yet killed all the living things there, or after your clearing, the location was again populated by enemies.
When approaching a location, save the game, enter it, find a legendary enemy, defeat him and see what weapon or armor he gives you. If you don’t like the property, you can load the save and try again, since armor drops and properties are randomly generated! Or not save, but then several in-game days must pass for opponents to appear in this location again, after which the above actions can be repeated again.
Note also that there is a mod that increases the frequency of appearance of legendary enemies (at least, this is intended - after installing it, with a 20-fold increase in the number of legendary enemies, I stopped seeing them at all). Additionally, there are console commands that can assign any legendary ability to any weapon or armor. But this cannot be used by players on PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
This way, you can tailor your gear to suit your play style: some people like to get more shots in VATS mode, while others prefer to be able to deal more damage to Super Mutants or get a boost to S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
However, in this case we are talking about composite armor of six components, and we are interested in what is worn underneath them. At the start of the game this is the Treated Vault 111 Jumpsuit.
There are also interesting outfits that increase two points by one, such as the synth hunter uniform or the army uniform (+1 to strength and agility).
There are also variations of the basic clothing types, like the Dirty Army Uniform, etc., but the Hunter uniform is more interesting, since it already has resistance to external influences. Army uniforms can be found at the Marksman mercenaries, at the National Guard Training Site, or in Jamaica Plain.
Ballistic polymer fabric
So, we have decided on the basic clothes that we are going to improve. Now we need to learn how to do this on the workbench to improve armor. For this it is necessary, which is inevitable during the course of the main storyline. There are a lot of people in the Underground, but we are interested in the PAM assault robot.
For PAM you need to complete several quests related to opening intelligence department caches. On the Internet, opinions on exactly how many quests need to be completed vary. I did three PAM quests to find caches, but even before them, the quest “Mercer Station” is given, in which you need to install two simple machine gun turrets in the “Zimonja Outpost” settlement. I also did two quests for Dr. Carrington (he also lives in the Subway headquarters) - “Boston at Night” and “Kill List”, and several quests for technician Tom to install MILA devices on the roofs.
Sooner or later, a character named Drummer should speak to you in the Underground and tell you that Tom wants to talk to you. Apparently, these quests can be completed in any order and their number itself can be a random number.
As a result, technician Tom has to talk about the intelligence department and its coolest technologies. After this, you can buy armored clothing from him, and we will gain the ability to create ballistic polymer fabric on suitable types of clothing. For example, the hunter form initially has a defense of 30-15-15.
However, after applying a class 5 bulletproof layer to it, the protection increases to 140-125-15.
We continue to look at weapons and armor that can be found in the vast Wastelands. This time we will tell you everything basic about combat armor in Fallout 4.
This armor is one of the standard ones - it is a pre-war model that was supplied to US soldiers. It is a polymer protection and does not have any schemes to prevent the effects of radiation, which is its big disadvantage.
There are three sets of armor:
- Standard - 59 protection, weight 20 kg;
- Durable - 87 protection, weight 34 kg;
- Heavy - 111 protection, weight 48 kg.
For lighter options you will need a level 2 gunsmith for upgrades and level 4 for the heavier options. When parts are modified, their appearance changes. It is worth mentioning that having unlocked the last level improvement for regular armor, you can transfer it to a heavy set without waiting for the last level in the “Gunsmith” skill.
Where to find it?
- Remove from killed Shooters;
- Buy from Commonwealth stores;
- Search at military installations;
- You can knock out a legendary part from any legendary monster.
You can also register the combat armor id in Fallout 4 by opening the console via the key ~ and enter the following - write player.additem then the number of the item separated by a space and again the number of items separated by a space. Next, alternately with the previous command we write these item numbers:
- 0011E2C8 - helmet;
- 0011D3C3 - armor on the torso;
- 0011D3C6 - right hand;
- 0011D3C7 - left;
- 0011D3C4 - right leg;
- 0011D3C5 - left;
Fallout 4 is a challenging game that will require you to take decisive action. And to survive in this world, you will need armor of various classes, from military to Brotherhood of Steel.
Combat armor in Fallout 4
Traveling in the world of Fallout 4 without special protection means exposing yourself to danger and frequent death. It is better if you find powerful armor and can protect yourself from unexpected death. But where can you find heavy combat armor in Fallout 4? This question can be answered, but do you need it? What about other options? For example, what can you say about the light version of combat armor in Fallout 4? Or maybe you want to find the Brotherhood of Steel battle armor in Fallout 4? Information on each armor class is already available and you can easily get it right now.
Where can I find basic protection?
The first thing to consider is where to get heavy combat armor in Fallout 4. This type of armor is quite common in this virtual world and is used by many city fighters. Therefore, it is freely sold in stores, its elements can be found on the bodies of defeated enemies (most often among elite enemies). And also in army treasures. By collecting all the parts of the reservation, you can assemble a complete set and get a good reservation. Just keep in mind that this kit does not protect you from behind, so your character immediately acquires many weak points.
But how does the id heavy combat armor in Fallout 4 compare to the Brotherhood of Steel variant? Yes, there is one in the game, and this version is practically the best, especially the T-60 model. You can only get it after you become one of the respected members of the faction, or you can steal it from the airship, which is the main means of transportation for these fighters. But when you get it, you will become an invincible fighter.
Fallout 4 Legendary Gear
The legendary attire is not considered the best protection, but Maxson's combat armor in Fallout 4. You don't even know who it is? How? Maxson is the leader of the Brotherhood of Steel faction and in order to get his legendary cloak, you must kill this character. Just take a few points into account: this is not so easy to do, and the Brotherhood of Steel will hunt you until it avenges its leader. As for the robe itself, it is quite strong and has a bonus Perception effect of +1. This coat looks great and will immediately open up some conversation lines for you. After all, everyone in the world knows exactly what the head of the Brotherhood of Steel looks like, so they will be interested in where you got his cloak from. Be careful with your answers!
Common armor in Fallout 4
Synth armor
A very interesting set of armor that the Institute equips synths with when they come to the surface.
Leather armor
This set of armor is almost the most common in the initial stages of the game in Fallout 4. There are three types of this armor, according to the degree of protection: light, durable or heavy leather armor. A set of leather armor consists of 5 elements, one for each limb, plus the torso; leather armor does not have a helmet, but due to the fact that each element can be worn separately, you can choose some other helmet for this armor.
Characteristics of leather armor:
- Torso
- light - defense: 3, weight: 5, cost: 25, id: 0007B9C6;
- durable - defense: 14, weight: 10, cost: 50, id: 0007B9C6;
- heavy - defense: 24, weight: 15, cost: 75, id: 0007B9C6;

Metal armor
Raider armor
Raiders are not whimsical comrades, they make their armor according to the principle: “I made it from what I had,” or whoever likes it, using the dendro-fecal method. The type of armor is often the most exotic; everything is used, fittings, pieces of plating, in general, everything that comes to hand. This armor set consists of 5 elements, since raiders do not recognize helmets.
Example of raider power armor:
Characteristics of raider armor in Fallout 4:
- Torso
- light - defense: 4, weight: 7, cost: 18, id: 0018E415;

Combat armor
A good set of armor, with normal protective characteristics, consists of 6 elements. This is the pre-war armor of US soldiers; everything that was found in warehouses and military bases went to the “people”. You can find such protective ammunition in locations with military purposes, or remove it from a defeated enemy. If this option is for you, then look for Shooters, they like to equip themselves with combat armor.
Characteristics of combat armor:
- Helmet - protection: 10, weight: 4, cost: 25, id: 0011E2C8;
- Torso

Diamond City Security Armor
All the guards in the Diamond City settlement wear this kind of armor, it looks quite ridiculous because this armor was created based on the uniform of a baseball catcher, if you remember that Diamond City is a former baseball stadium, then this choice of armor for the settlement’s guards becomes clear, apparently on There were a lot of such uniforms in the stadium warehouses.
Characteristics of the armor of Diamond City guards:
- Helmet

Armor of the Pack
This armor appeared in Fallout 4 after the release of the Nuka-World add-on. Raiders of the Flock group are equipped with this armor; accordingly, the armor is made in their “corporate” style. Unlike other types of armor, this armor comes in only two variations, regular and heavy, and there is no helmet in the armor, well, raiders don’t like helmets.
Characteristics of the Flock armor:

Trapper armor
This armor set is included in the Far Harbor DLC; the “pure” Fallout 4 does not have this armor set. The armor of trappers is somewhat similar to the armor of raiders, it is assembled from whatever comes to hand, mainly old tires are used for this armor, which are held together with various metal plates. Just like the Raider armor, this armor does not have a helmet. Trapper armor ranges from regular to heavy.
Trapper armor characteristics:

Adept Armor
The Adept Armor was added to the game with the Nuka-World expansion. The Adepts have not one set of armor, but 4, and they are all different, this includes armor made of metal and armor made of belts and even armor made of spikes, but in this section we will focus on the most successful set of armor - the armor of the Adepts made of belts, this armor protects well and is relatively light.
This is interesting: Adepts have metal armor with 122 points of damage resistance, but it weighs 109 points.
Characteristics of Adept armor made from belts:

Marine Corps Armor
This armor set was introduced in the Fallout 4 DLC Far Harbor and is considered one of the best in terms of damage protection to armor weight ratio. In terms of its characteristics, this armor is inferior only to power armor, but they cannot be put on the same level, after all, power armor is a separate class. Marine armor was released before the Great War and all sets in the game are armor that was released at that time. The followers of Atom can boast of such equipment.
Marine armor, in terms of damage resistance level, has a different division, different from other sets of armor, it can be:
- Zealot - light armor class;
- Assault - medium armor class;
- Inquisitorial - heavy armor class.
Characteristics of Marine Corps armor:

Power armor
This type of armor is essentially an exoskeleton that is covered with durable armor. A resident of the Commonwealth in power armor is a strong opponent, he can be called a small tank. For example, the most powerful set of armor has damage protection of about 120 points at the usual level, but a set of power armor, depending on the type and condition, has damage protection from 500 to 1300 points, the difference is obvious. Of course, power armor has its drawbacks, but its characteristics outweigh any drawbacks.
Armored suits
This type of armor in the game is represented by separate elements, does not provide a noticeable addition to damage protection and is presented for additional ambiance. Usually these are elements of armor on the main character's torso or various helmets. As an example, a prominent representative of armored suits will be the “Pre-War Vault-Tec Security Guard Armor”, this armor can only be seen at the beginning of the game, on one of the guards; in the game it can only be obtained using cheat codes (id: 000821b4).
In this article, we tried to tell all the information we know on the topic “Armor in Fallout 4.” If you did not find something in this article, or you have comments, then write them in the comments. Thank you for rating the article!
Fallout 4 is a currently popular role-playing game from Bethesda. The project was released in 2015 and received mixed reviews. In this article, you will learn how combat armor has changed in Fallout 4, and read some tips on using it.
What is combat armor?
In the Fallout series of role-playing games, starting from the first part, there is a special class of armor. Over time, combat armor (or reinforced armor) became a real feature of the project: it was added to posters, announcements, and it was very difficult to get armor in the game.
In all games until the fourth part, the equipment was classified as ordinary clothing. The only thing that distinguished it from others was its increased protection characteristics, radiation resistance, and so on. Usually you can find Brotherhood of Steel fighters wearing such costumes. It is from them that the player can get his first copy in the game.
Differences between Fallout 4 combat armor and previous parts
Finally, the developers decided to reconsider the concept of equipment. All clothing was divided into several parts: left and right arm, left and right leg, torso, head. Let us remember that previously the equipment was divided into protection for the head and for the rest of the body (including arms, legs and torso).
In Fallout 4, combat armor has received even more changes. Now you will fully feel the heaviness and awkwardness of the protective suit. In the new part, the main character does not put on armor parts, but climbs inside a combat suit.
Structure
However, finding such a suit is only half the battle. Next, the system introduced for all other clothing comes into play. You must find, repair damaged or craft new pieces of equipment - protection for arms, legs, helmet and torso. The overall condition and strength of the suit depends on the characteristics of each element.
Where to find it?
In Fallout 4, combat armor is first encountered 20 minutes into the main story. After you leave the shelter, go straight to the main quest. After visiting your hometown, you must go to a neighboring settlement, where you will meet a squad of Minutemen. The leader has a plan, for the implementation of which your help is needed.
It's worth mentioning here that power armor works thanks to energy blocks. Gradually, the charge of the block is consumed, and you must insert a new one into the armor. When your equipment is completely depleted, you will not be able to jump or run quickly, so carefully calculate your energy reserves before long and long journeys into the depths of the wasteland.
The Minutemen send you to get the power unit in the basement of the building. After picking it up, you must go to the roof and insert it into the power armor. After this, tear the minigun off the body of the crashed helicopter (in this suit you will be able to carry more weight, pick up heavy objects, and damage from falls will also be reduced). Help the Minutemen fight off the raiders and take the equipment to your parking lot in Century. Towards the middle of the game Fallout 4, heavy combat armor will replace regular armor. It has double the performance, but it is not so easy to get. Regular power suits can be found throughout the wasteland. Even in the most remote and abandoned village you may be lucky and you will find items for equipment. In Fallout 4, combat armor is a necessity on higher difficulty levels.
