Abram Yudashkin. Valentin Yudashkin: biography and interesting facts from the life of a fashion designer
Valentin Yudashkin was born in Bakovka, near Moscow. The boy developed a passion for clothing design during his school years. He loved to draw, which later resulted in work on the first sketches of models. Little Valya could enthusiastically draw for days on end. After working on the sketch, Yudashkin began to sew. He sewed for everyone around him: himself, family and friends. After graduating from school, Valentin knew exactly what to do - devote himself to the profession of a fashion designer. With this choice, however, he greatly upset his parents, who believed that their son could have chosen a more masculine profession, as it seemed to them. But they didn’t argue with the future fashion designer - they always respected his clear position.
Yudashkin entered the Moscow Industrial College at the Faculty of Modeling. It didn’t bother him at all that only girls studied in his course. Unfortunately, I had to give up my favorite studies for a year - the guy was drafted into the army. During his service, he came up with many interesting outfits and read a lot. This helped him defend two theses with excellent marks.
1. Valentin Yudashkin does not like to talk about his family, but in 2012 it became known that in 1987 he experienced a real tragedy: his father, Abram Iosifovich Yudashkin, stabbed his own brother with an awl during a quarrel.
2. The fashion designer gained worldwide fame with his Faberge collection, which he showed in Paris in 1991. Models showed dresses in the shape of eggs.
3. Valentin opened his first studio by selling his wife’s fur coat and car.
4. Yudashkin's portfolio is truly impressive. You can find everything in it: from the uniform of Aeroflot flight attendants to the military uniform of the Russian army.

5. Yudashkin is the only Russian fashion designer accepted into the High Fashion Syndicate. True, he refused such serious support, since in order to maintain this title, Yudashkin needed to completely transfer production to France, which was not part of his plans.
6. During his career, Yudashkin sewed dresses for Raisa Gorbacheva and Svetlana Medvedeva. By the way, he is very close friends with the latter.
7. His portfolio includes a large number of wedding dresses for Russian show business stars. Glucose, Diana Gurtskaya and Zara got married in his outfits. But the dress made for Ksenia Sobchak was never useful - the wedding of the socialite and businessman Alexander Shustorovich did not take place.
8. Yudashkin's dresses are exhibited in museums around the world: from the Louvre to the Fashion Museum in Los Angeles.
9. Valentin heads the Russian Ballroom Dance Federation. The fashion designer has been partial to dancing for many years.
10. As a child, the fashion designer was involved in figure skating.
11. Valentin Yudashkin is the recipient of three state awards: the Order of the Legion of Honor, Arts and Literature and the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.
12. Valentin Yudashkin's wife Marina is not a public person, but she is the one in charge of the family business. The couple has a daughter, Galina, who recently made Yudashkin a grandfather for the second time.

13. The fashion designer himself does not like social events. Yudashkin likes much more to be at home with friends and family. He appreciates good cuisine and an atmosphere of calm and comfort.

14. In 2016, Valentin Yudashkin underwent kidney surgery. It turned out that the fashion designer had cancer, which he hid not only from the press, but also from his employees. It is not known for certain whether it was possible to completely overcome the disease, but there are constantly rumors on the Internet that Valentin is still being treated for a terrible illness. The reason for the rumors was Yudashkin’s departure to Israel, as well as photographs of the famous fashion designer in which he looks sickly - Valentin has lost a lot of weight.
The relatives of the fashion designer's mother did not get out of prison
* The couturier's father stabbed his brother to death with a shoe knife because of an inheritance. And then I went to watch TV
* The relatives of the fashion designer's mother did not get out of prison
All these years I have been silent. And I am very grateful to Express Newspaper that you wrote about the brutal murder that my father committed Valentina Yudashkina, - Eleonora Leonidovna began her sad story. “For all these years, no one - neither Valya, nor his brother Zhenya, nor their mother Raisa - has ever repented of what they did. But a very good man was killed, wise, intelligent, decent, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, who went through all the hardships of life, a patriot - my father Leonid Leonidovich Yudashkin. We have experienced terrible grief. Only the birth of my youngest son in 1988 brought me back to life. I named him after my dad.
- It's a terrible tragedy. Did something foretell trouble?
Quarrels between the brothers began when their mother, Sara Iosifovna, died in 1980. Abram and Leonid inherited an inheritance of four hundred square meters on a plot where two houses were built - we used to live in one, Abram and his mother lived in the other, and then with his family. Dad, already having an apartment in Odintsovo, told his brother that he was going to come to Bakovka only in the summer, and the rest of the time the house and the entire plot were at his complete disposal. But for Abram, a stingy and greedy man, this seemed not enough. Valya's father, out of anger, tore the roof off his father's half - everything was flooded with water, he "irrigated" the apple trees with saltpeter, and they died. And before the tragedy, in winter, the brothers collided on the street, and Abram attacked with his fists, hitting him on the head with his backpack as hard as he could. Dad was hospitalized with a concussion. And then he sued him. For everything. The final decision in the case was to be made on May 27. And on the 26th, late in the evening, dad passed away.
It was cold and raining. Around half past five in the evening, dad decided to go to Bakovka to check the gas boiler. He said he would be back soon. But it was already dark, and he still didn’t come. We thought we had decided to stay the night. And at about half past ten an unfamiliar woman came running to us and said: “Something happened to Lenya! Go to Bakovka urgently!” When they rushed, the police and an ambulance were standing at the house. Seeing on the ground under the sheet a wrist with an anchor that had been stuffed on him during his service on Solovki, I screamed. Then, as if in a terrible dream: Valya, his brother Zhenya, their father were taken out of the house, the neighbors began to tell that, having accidentally seen a bleeding body at the gate, they knocked on the house, Raya, Abram’s wife, opened the door and said in cold blood: “So what?” ? Call an ambulance if you want. What do we have to do with it? When the investigation was underway, I read the testimony of Raisa Petrovna: “Everything was quiet and calm with us. My husband was lying on the couch, watching TV and eating an orange.” The decision was made three months later. War veterans who served with dad came to the meeting and shouted with one voice: “How can this be?!” He went through the whole war, and died at the hands of this scoundrel!” In 1942, dad was 14 years old when he went to the Solovetsky school of cabin boys, where real sailors were trained from boys.
And at the age of 15-16 they went to sea and fought the enemy along with adults. Small boats - minesweepers - went out into the open mined sea, but not all returned back. Dad survived and reached Berlin. In 1945, he returned home to Bakovka, where he found a terrible picture: his mother, brother Abram (he is nine years younger than Leni) and sister Valentina were dying, swollen from hunger and cold. An 18-year-old boy, already a real victorious sailor, covered in medals, fed, warmed and put the whole family on their feet. And, by the way, his relatives always treated him like a dog: often the boy was kicked out into the street at night to guard the logs for building a house, they threw into his bowl what others had not finished eating. Dad did not remember evil. He always helped Abram, tried to save him from drunkenness. Soon after returning from the war, dad was sent to the Baltic for five years - he served in the Navy. Then he could not even imagine that he would die at the hands of his brother. - What happened on that fateful evening?
There was no fight! When dad left, Abram began calling him names through the fence. The father calmly replied: “It’s okay, hooligan, tomorrow you and I have a trial - the court will judge us.” And he was about to leave the gate, but Abram ran up from behind and stuck a shoe knife into his neck, right into the carotid artery. He knew where to hit to be sure - he was an experienced butcher, and he had also been in prison.
- It turns out that Abram Iosifovich had two terms?
He was imprisoned for trading matters. It seems they found some mismatched meat in his store. He sat there for two years, and my dad raised his boys. Valya later wrote a paper when the murder was being investigated (he could not come to the meeting - he went to Poland, his career was just beginning): “Uncle Lenya treated us like a father.” And Abram was always distinguished by cruelty. A real beast! I remember when I was a child, he burst into our house in a drunken stupor and broke all the dishes with an axe.
“And I remember when my grandfather and I once arrived in Bakovka, Abram burst into our door and screamed heart-rendingly: “I’ll kill you, Lenya!” - notes Eleanor’s son Maxim, sitting next to us. “But my grandfather told me: “With me, don’t be afraid of anyone. And especially him - he is a coward! And he never will.” I did... It's a pity that my grandfather is no longer with us. Even today he remains for me an example of courage, decency, justice, the personification of a real man. He did not tolerate betrayal and brought up in me the best human qualities. I miss him so much!- Eleanor, why do you think Abram decided to commit a terrible act?
I was unable to prove in court that a premeditated murder occurred. Although I'm sure of it. Probably, having gotten rid of his dad, Abram thought that he would get the house. He didn't know there was a will for me. In general, this house is cursed, covered in blood. In the early 50s, bandits who decided to rob her grandmother killed her two daughters, who became unwitting witnesses to the crime - seven-year-old Galya and 17-year-old Valya, by the way, after whom the now famous fashion designer Yudashkin is named.
Beggar Bride
- Did Valentin’s fame come as a surprise to you?
No. He is a genius, talented, extraordinary. As soon as I picked up a doll for the first time, I became a fashion designer. He came up with such dresses and hairstyles. I loved my brother very much. I missed him. He is kind, sympathetic, not mean and stood out from the whole family. And he didn’t love his father. When he was sitting there for the first time, Valya admitted to me: “I don’t want him to come. I don’t want to see him!”
- Maybe their father beat them and Zhenya?
Don't think. I have never heard of Abram hurting his children and wife. Before her, he walked around, became rowdy, and drank terribly. And one day my parents told him: “Enough! Get married. Raya is a good girl.” She really was modest and quiet. Although the whole family are real scum of society: they lived like beggars, they didn’t even really have a home, the father drank constantly, and the brothers did not get out of prison.
- How did Valentin meet his wife Marina?
In Moscow. She was a hairdresser then. We started dating shortly before my dad died. Marina gave Valya a lift to Bakovka by car - they said her father was a cool hairdresser - he worked in a salon on Tverskaya, and her mother was an accountant at Charodeyka, which was on Kalininsky. Valya and Marina got married after the tragedy. And since we didn’t communicate after my dad’s murder, I wasn’t at the wedding. And I didn’t see his daughter Galya.
- Is it gratifying that, despite the grief that happened in the family, Valentin managed to rise like that?I'm glad for his success. But I don’t think that the death of my dad, my father’s term and subsequent death became a great grief for Valya. He abstracted himself from this misfortune. The main thing for him at that time was to find Cebo sandals and find a piece of brocade somewhere to sew a dress.
- Do you think he will ever call you?
I don't expect any calls from them. One day, a mutual friend of ours came from America and, visiting Valya, asked about us. The brother roughly waved him off: “Go to hell!” And recently, after the fact, I learned that war veterans turned to Valya for financial assistance in order to erect a monument to the Solovetsky cabin boys in Moscow. They knew that his uncle served in the islands. Probably, this was a chance to at least somehow atone for my dad, but Valentin refused. Of course, it is strange to me that the veterans did not contact us this time, because previously we have repeatedly provided them with financial assistance. You know, I keep thinking: Doesn’t Valya have nightmares at night? Now things are moving towards old age. And, probably, when he is left alone with himself, the past haunts him: how coldly, knowing that his uncle was bleeding, he did not help him, did not call an ambulance, did not call his family. Why do I emphasize Valentine? He is the only bright spot in this family. It’s a shame to realize that with all the luxury, with all the splendor that surrounds them, human qualities are not inherent in these people.
DIALOGUE FAILEDOf course, you won’t know what the famous couturier thinks about this whole story. Valentin Yudashkin, we couldn't. My call found the fashion designer in Paris, where his latest catwalk show had just been a huge success. When asked to comment on the events of 25 years ago, Valentin Abramovich responded, unfortunately, predictably: “Yes, yes! What else do you want?!” - and hung up.
It is unlikely that there will be at least one person who did not know who Valentin Yudashkin was (we will look at her biography and personal life in the article) - a famous Russian fashion designer. His own clothing brand, which he developed, captivated not only the domestic fashion world, but also the discerning foreign public.
For many fans of Valentin Yudashkin’s work, his biography and personal life are of interest. The fashion designer's birthday is October 14, 1963. He spent his childhood in the Moscow region: in the village of Bakovka, Odintsovo district. There he studied and lived until he was 24 years old.
Valentin Yudashkin
From childhood it was clear that the boy would grow into a man of a creative profession. Valentin liked figure skating and fine arts. But, unlike most children, he did not draw nature and still lifes, but clothing models. At school age, he begins to sew clothes for friends and classmates. The outfits from young Yudashkin were already distinguished by their beauty and style.
Valentin Yudashkin in his youth
The parents, realizing the seriousness of their son’s hobby, treated him with understanding and did not interfere with his development. Meanwhile, Yudashkin firmly decided that this particular occupation would be his life’s work. Although his youth fell on the era of “stagnation,” the future famous fashion designer persistently achieved his goal.
A graduate of the Moscow Industrial College, young Yudashkin receives a diploma with honors and two specialties at once - a makeup specialist and a fashion designer.
Valentin Yudashkin: early years
In 1986, Vyacheslav Zaitsev became the mentor of trainee Yudashkin. After graduating from technical school, distribution work follows in the Moscow design bureau. As a senior artist, Yudashkin not only designs clothes, he also does makeup, costume designs, and styling.
Valentin Yudashkin was a makeup designer
The first collection of the famous fashion designer, numbering 150 models, was released in 1987. The fashion show took place in Moscow, at the Orlenok Hotel. This event, without exaggeration, created a sensation in the fashion circles of the capital and made the fashion designer famous not only in Moscow, but also in Russia.
Gaining popularity
A year after the triumphant show, the Vali-moda company opens. The first shows “Primordial Rus'” and “Peter’s Ball” attracted the attention of French fashion designers. Yudashkin goes to France.
In those years, there was a great shortage of fabrics in the country, and the young fashion designer was literally captivated by the variety of textures, colors and paints. Many ideas have emerged for creating beautiful clothes for women.
Faberge collection from Valentin Yudashkin, presented at Paris Fashion Week
In 1991, upon returning from France, a new company, ValentinYudashkin, appeared. A haute couture collection is produced, just like in the world's fashion capitals. By launching this collection under the name “Faberge”, Yudashkin became a “pioneer” - no one had previously done anything like this in Russia. Why Faberge? The answer is simple: the original outfits that adorned the models were made in the shape of eggs.

A high indicator of the master’s outstanding talent is the fact that the Louvre acquired two of his models from the Faberge collection as museum exhibits and his constant membership of Haute Couture Week over the years.
Successes and achievements
Valentin Yudashkin received an offer to move to Paris. The move also gave him the opportunity to officially be called a “couturier.” But the maestro refused. Despite perestroika and the unstable situation in the country, love for the Motherland turned out to be stronger. This feeling is constantly expressed in the author’s works and his creativity.

In 1996, Valentin became a corresponding member of the high fashion syndicate. At the same time, his Fashion House was rightfully renamed the House of Haute Couture. In 2008, the fashion designer, together with Igor Chapurin, took part in the design of uniform samples for military personnel of the Russian Armed Forces.
And although Yudashkin and Chapurin developed samples of only dress uniforms, people still call the new uniform “Yudashkinskaya.” The public’s attention has always been riveted to the successes of the eminent fashion designer. In this regard, the unabated interest in the biography and personal life of Valentin Yudashkin is understandable.
Fashion house of Valentin Yudashkina
In 1991, the couturier opened his own fashion house. And in 1997, the first branded boutique was opened in Moscow. Initially, only clothing models were presented there. But today branded silverware, linen, jewelry, and accessories are also on sale.
Yudashkin's fashion house is the leading one in Russia. Indicators of the success and popularity of the maestro’s brainchild can be regular shows in the world’s fashion capitals: Milan, Paris, Rome.

Each product here is unique. Hand-sewn from exclusive fabrics according to author's sketches, Yudashkin's suits can rightfully be considered works of art. This is confirmed by the fact that some models became exhibits not only of the Louvre in Paris, but also of the Fashion Museum in California and the Moscow State Historical Museum.

But, in addition to ready-to-wear collections, the Fashion House also has a fashionable series of glasses and cases, a collection of porcelain products and accessories. Due attention is also paid to accessories, with the help of which the image from master Yudashkin is always effectively completed. It happens that not very successful clothing models appear in the Fashion House. In such cases, they must be burned.

For more than twenty years in the life of the couturier, his wife Marina has played the role of his beloved woman, muse, and guardian angel. She was already with him at the very beginning of his career takeoff, and since then has been an integral part of his personal life.

Currently, Galina has succeeded both professionally and as a happy wife and mother.
Galina is married to Pyotr Maksakov (grandson of a popular woman). The young people met in a common company, immediately liked each other and never parted again. The father learned about his daughter’s hobby thanks to the social network Instagram. After meeting their parents and their approval, the young people decided to get married.

Covering the biography of Valentin Yudashkin and his personal life, it is impossible not to mention the parents of the master of Russian fashion. Abram Iosifovich, the fashion designer’s father, died a long time ago, and it is known about his mother Raisa Petrovna that she works at her son’s Fashion House as a manager.
Yudashkin himself professes the rule: family affairs should not be put on public display. It should be noted that there was no mention in the press of any family scandals related to the Yudashkin family.

The only thing the journalists were able to unearth was the fashion designer’s father’s murder of his own brother in a fight. The incident happened many years ago. That's probably all.

In the fall of 2016, the designer missed the annual show of his collection at Paris Haute Couture Week for the first time. The designer was forced to stay in Moscow, despite the fact that his seven-month-old grandson Anatoly participated in the show for the first time. The reason for this was Valentin’s sudden illness, hospitalization and surgery.
Then the relatives of the world famous couturier gave an interview in which they assured that Yudashkin was quickly recovering and his health was not in danger.
In March 2017, before the next annual show in honor of International Women's Day at the Kremlin Palace, the fashion designer gave an interview in which he admitted that he had been struggling with cancer for a long time.
Fashion designer Valentin Yudashkin is friends with many celebrities
Valentin hid the illness even from his colleagues. For many months, close relatives did not make public the state of health and the diagnosis made to the fashion designer. All this time, they supported him with their own strength and helped him fight the disease. Of course, during this time many rumors and speculations were born, and, in the end, Yudashkin makes an official statement about the state of his health.
Illness is a difficult moment in the biography and personal life of Valentin Yudashkin. According to him, the strongest support was provided by close people and doctors, who, in a sense, also became part of the fashion designer’s family.
Valentin Yudashkin is, without a doubt, the country's leading fashion designer. His brand has long become internationally popular; “star” clients and the most famous people in the country trust him. The secret of the master’s success is simple – the highest quality and impeccable design of every item. This rule has been unchanged for many years.

The master draws inspiration from national culture. The designer’s work is literally permeated with “Russian” motifs. This made the works of Valentin Yudashkin truly a treasure of national culture and art.

A famous fashion designer in Russia, along with Vyacheslav Zaitsev, is Valentin Yudashkin. The biography of this little man with great talent undoubtedly deserves attention. He was also recognized abroad, but he refused to move the production of his collections to Paris for the sake of the title of couturier, which, however, did not negatively affect his work.
Childhood and youth
Yudashkin Valentin Abramovich was born on October 14, 1963. His childhood was spent in the Moscow region, in the small village of Bakovka. Already at an early age, it was clear that the boy was no stranger to beauty, and his future life would one way or another be connected with creativity. Valentin was involved in figure skating and loved to draw. But the objects of his works were not landscapes or people, but Well, all people marked by talent are led by fate from childhood along the path chosen for them.
As a schoolboy, Valentin had already started sewing clothes for his friends and relatives. There was no resistance to his activities from his parents, despite such “non-male” interests. He knew exactly what he wanted from life and how he would realize himself. Although the time of stagnation coincided with his youth, he persistently walked towards his goal. Here is another confirmation that success is equal to talent multiplied by motivation.
First steps in the profession
Work, work and more work
In the same 1990s, Valentin created uniforms for the Olympic team - first for the winter games in Lillehammer, and then for the summer games in the USA. And, besides this, his new collections are released every year. Yes, it was not for nothing that the Parisians noted the genuine “Russianness” in his works. Valentin Yudashkin's designs are marked by the inspiration he draws from our rich culture. Just look at the names given to his works from 1994-1999: “Frescoes” and “Catherine the Great”, “Ballet”, “Birds of Paradise”, “A Christmas Dream”, “Vrubel”, “Anna Karenina”, “Silent Cinema” , "Russian Modern".
Of course, in Russia his successes and stellar talent were noted; in 1997, Valentin received the national Ovation award. For the fact that the maestro brought domestic fashion to the world stage, he was awarded the Business Olympus award in the “Art and Business” nomination.
Yes, despite his small stature, Valentin Yudashkin is distinguished by his great love for Russia, his work, as well as his enormous creative fertility. According to various sources, a couturier has cm. For a name to become a brand, a person must be a perfectionist. Therefore, Yudashkin’s name as a fashion designer is associated with unsurpassed high quality.
Paris - haute couture syndicate
Any designer who has ambitions dreams of receiving recognition from the world's leading masters. And for Valentin it became a reality. And he is the only fashion designer from Russia awarded the high honor.
Until the very end of the nineties, all his collections were presented at Haute Couture Weeks. Yes, he refused to move to Paris and completely merge with the world fashion elite. But nevertheless, Valentin has the status of a corresponding member of the syndicate since back in 1996. After this, his Fashion House deservedly received the title of a House of Haute Couture, and at the same time the right to present all its collections at Haute Couture Weeks. This is a peak that is unattainable for many, and what more could you want! But it is precisely the need to constantly improve, create something new and seek inspiration that distinguishes true professionalism, which cannot and does not have the right to stop developing due to the embodiment of ambitious ambitions. Do not doubt, the great couturier is a real hard worker, whose thoughts are constantly in creative search.
House of Valentin Yudashkin
In 1988-1989, the Vali Moda company opened, and in 1991 it was renamed the Valentin Yudashkin Fashion House. In 1997, the first boutique opened in Moscow. At first, ready-made clothing models made from high-quality fabrics were presented there, later lingerie, accessories, jewelry, as well as silverware from the Valentin Yudashkin brand appeared.
Now the Fashion House of Valentin Yudashkin is the leading one in Russia. He has a network of branded boutiques, his shows are held in Paris, Milan and Moscow. Some works are exhibits at the Costume Museum in the Louvre, the State Historical Museum in Moscow, the California Fashion Museum, and the International Olympic Museum. The success and recognition that Valentin Yudashkin achieved, his biography, not marked by any scandals and black PR, impeccable taste and style, brilliant talent - all this made his name part of the history of Russian fashion.
Always unique and hand-sewn from exclusive fabrics according to our own sketches. At the Valentin Yudashkin House they sew ready-to-wear clothes, and here you will also find collections of porcelain accessories and products. They also have their own line of fashionable glasses and cases. Valentin, as a true couturier, pays great attention to detail and is very fond of accessories, which in his collections play the role of the finishing touch of the created image. If unsuccessful models suddenly appear in the House, they are strictly burned.
Among his clients are stars of show business, theater and cinema, as well as the most famous people in Russia. All our famous beauties strive to sew wedding dresses only from him. Valentin has gained confidence in himself thanks to his impeccable design and unsurpassed high quality of items.
Family and personal life
Of course, the most prominent fashion designer in Russia is Valentin Yudashkin. His biography is more replete with facts from his professional life than with some gossip. Valentin has been married for a long time and, apparently, happily. Contrary to the established stereotype, he, like few other people in his profession, is a bearer of traditional sexual orientation. His wife Marina also works in the beauty industry - she is a hair stylist and has many international prizes and awards in her field. Serves as senior collections manager at her husband's House. Who knows, perhaps it was the reliable rear that helped Valentin confidently go through all the trials.
The only daughter Galina was often a model at the shows of her famous father’s collections. It's hard to stay away if your parents have their own fashion house, which is also a global brand. Now Galina is already an adult girl, a photographer by profession, she already has her own family. Valentin Abramovich's father has been dead for a long time, and his mother, Raisa Petrovna, also works at the Fashion House, holding the position of manager there.
As Yudashkin himself said in an interview, the family should not be exposed to the public. It is worthy of respect that his name in the media has never been mixed with any scandals or family squabbles. The only thing was that there were several short messages that the father, Abram Iosifovich, killed his brother in a fight many years ago. Press coverage of this fact is, rather, the result of journalists’ persistent desire to find some dark spot in the maestro’s biography - everything cannot be perfect.
She was noted in the press in 2015 in connection with a scandal about an underground casino in the house of which she is the owner. There is no direct evidence of her involvement in this.
Yudashkin's style and creativity
You can see from the collections' models how much Valentin loves dresses. His style is associated with boldness and originality, but you will never find pretentiousness or tasteless displays of wild imagination in his work. Fur, decoration with embroidery and rhinestones - all this impeccably distinguishes his unique models.
In 2003 in Moscow, everyone could visit his unique personal exhibition. In addition to all the available regalia, Yudashkin also holds the title of honorary academician of the Russian Academy of Arts.
It is permissible to talk about the couturier’s works in artistic terms, so his style can be classified as avant-garde. Not everyone manages to create works of fashion design art from clothes.
One of the first creative triumphs was the “Christmas Dream” collection. There were mid-length skirts trimmed with beads and lace, feathers on jacket collars, fur lapels and coat sleeves. Headdresses are presented in the form of graceful top hats, white fur hats and large berets. But the highlight of the collection was the neckerchiefs. The final model was a dress representing a Christmas tree.
Valentin Yudashkin’s show, entitled “Black and White Cinema,” is another striking manifestation of his talent. The models were made of embossed and ostrich-feather leather, covered with gilding. Even blouses were made from this material. And, surprisingly, there was not the slightest hint of roughness in the collection that usually accompanies leather clothing.
The autumn-winter season of 2015 was marked by the new collection “Romantic Rock and Roll”. The desire to look for inspiration, including in the past, did not bypass Yudashkin. The fashion of the 1980s and 1990s is felt here. The couturier masterfully combined rebellion and elegance, managing to create a truly feminine image. Of course, black became the main color, but it was skillfully diluted with other shades - brown, gray, white and beige. Well, where without details - pink branches and flowers made of black lacquer in signature prints skillfully smoothed out the inherent brutality of the rock style. Contrary to the stereotype, taffeta, stretch knitwear, chiffon and lace, jacquard and velvet were used instead of leather. All this emphasized a clear silhouette with an accentuated waist. Once again Valentin Yudashkin managed to combine the incongruous. Who else could pull off a harmonious ensemble of formal trousers and revealing necklines and miniskirts? The typical rock 'n' roll jacket has been given a true feminine touch thanks to its fur. The collection also includes evening dresses.
Valentin has his own personal museum in which he keeps his favorite models. His works can also be found in private collections. Yudashkin loves and knows how to combine the most unexpected things, materials and images; he does not accept cheap fabrics and finishing elements - everything must be expensive and elite. There are branches of Valentin Yudashkin's Fashion House in Milan and Paris - two capitals of world fashion.
Not everything is so smooth
We can talk a lot more about how much Valentin Yudashkin has done for Russian fashion. The biography of this brilliant man is filled with true love for his work and boundless hard work. But the career of the great fashion designer was not always marked by success. In 2007, Yudashkin began creating a collection of uniforms for the Russian military. And in 2012, negative articles were published in the media, casting a shadow on the reputation of the Haute Couture House. It was noted that the military uniform is made of low-quality fabrics and is far from flawless in design.
Yudashkin himself commented on this fact, saying that the released models have nothing to do with his work. The Ministry of Defense made adjustments at its own discretion, as a result of which the issued uniform can no longer refer to the Yudashkin brand. The project, which was carefully thought out to the smallest detail, into which Valentin put his soul, as in all his collections, was failed due to the unprofessional intervention of others. No one ever answered the couturier’s question about why all this was done, despite his numerous requests to the relevant departments.
Yudashkin show
For several years in a row, on March 8, Valentin has been organizing an original event with the participation of show business stars. This year, the “White Nights” collection was presented at Yudashkin’s show. It is not difficult to guess that it was St. Petersburg that inspired the maestro to create it. The main idea is illusory, the colors are smoky and delicate shades of blue and gray. The now fashionable trend from the 1990s - accentuated shoulders and waist - is masterfully played out. Evening and cocktail dresses are decorated with handmade beaded embroidery, sequins and rhinestones. The main material of the collection - silk - is combined with chiffon and tulle. Fashion connoisseurs and domestic stars attended this show, however, not a single one was left without their attention.
The spring collection presented by Yudashkin at Haute Couture Fashion Week is also distinguished by its tenderness and femininity. Valentin Yudashkin is a designer who is loved and respected all over the world, and not just in his homeland.
What made Yudashkin famous was his collection released in 1991 called “Faberge”. The designer demonstrated the collection in the center of world fashion, Paris, at Haute Couture Fashion Week, and the audience of the show, traditionally consisting of the most iconic people in the fashion world, admired the dresses, stylized as the famous masterpieces of jewelry - the Faberge eggs. Later, Yudashkin donated one of these outfits to the Louvre collection.
Valentin Yudashkin is a Russian couturier, founder and owner of the Valentin Yudashkin Fashion House. Since 2005 - People's Artist of Russia, since 1992 - corresponding member of the Paris Haute Couture Association.
Valentin Abramovich Yudashkin was born on October 14, 1963 in Bakovka, a holiday village, which a couple of years later became part of the city of Odintsovo, Moscow region. His father, Abram Iosifovich Yudashkin, is a businessman. Mother, Raisa Petrovna Yudashkina, heads the ready-to-wear department at her Fashion House
th son. The fashion designer's wife, Marina Yudashkina, holds one of the senior positions at Valentin Yudashkin, and daughter Galina is engaged in photography.
In 1986, Yudashkin graduated with honors from the Moscow Industrial College, having defended diplomas in two specialties, in the history of costume and makeup and decorative cosmetics. Literally a year later, the young fashion designer developed his first collection and attracted attention.
From the very beginning he worked with big names, among his clients
There were also Raisa Gorbacheva, the first lady of the USSR, and the Russian pop star Alla Pugacheva. Yudashkin is considered the first fashion designer of the post-Soviet era to introduce the Western world to the look of modern Russian fashion. Critics were delighted both with his haute couture collections, where the designer turned each show into a theatrical performance, and with his collections of casual clothing. The master's works were exhibited in such museums as the Museum of Fashion and Textiles in Paris, the California Fashion Museum in Los Angeles (Lo
Angeles), the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the State Historical Museum in Moscow.
The first branded boutique "Valentin Yudashkin" opened in 1997. Today, the Valentin Yudashkin Fashion House presents to its Russian and foreign fans a collection of couture and ready-to-wear clothing, a line of all kinds of accessories, a denim line, a line of household goods, a collection of watches and jewelry, a collection of furs, as well as a wedding salon.
Yudashkin is the owner of a number of state
cultural and foreign awards, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, IV degree (2013) and the Order of Honor (2008). In 2013, the fashion designer became a Knight of the Legion of Honor, and in 2007 - a Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters.
In 2008, Yudashkin worked on a new uniform design for Russian military personnel and was reported to have created 85 uniform designs for all branches of the Russian Army. However, the form turned out to be completely unsuitable for use and even caused
and hypothermia from 160 to 250 soldiers in the Kemerovo region the following winter - as it turned out, in their uniforms, high-quality insulation was replaced by cheaper analogues. There was even a stable expression, “Yudashkin form”, i.e. a low-quality product that was initially talked about and written about with great fanfare. However, some sources deny the information that Yudashkin actually participated in the creation of the entire new form. It is alleged that he was the author of only the ceremonial uniform
vaniya, and the everyday, field and special-purpose uniforms that caused so many complaints were designed at the Central Research Institute of the Textile Industry and the Central Research Institute of Leather and Footwear. In any case, in 2011 the Ministry of Defense abandoned the use of the new uniform.
It is curious that the mastodon of Russian fashion, Slava Zaitsev, does not take the work of Valentin Yudashkin seriously, calling him too flexible, a gutta-percha man who is too eager to please his clients to develop his own style.
